On Wednesday, 23rd May 2018, a Gold Revolution TV/Internet Talent hunt reality was launched. Nollywood Idol. It is an event which has been years in the making. All the groundwork, the preparation coalesced into one final moment of announcement. At AES Luxury Suites, Abuja, organizers of the Reality TV show Nollywood Idol formally launched the project. Nollywood Idol is a TV/INTERNET TALENT HUNT REALITY SHOW that is set to provide a platform for teaming individuals with a passion to be part of the Nigerian Movie Industry as either actors, script-writers or directors. This is a first of its kind show as it will reward winners from different categories of the competition. 56 passionate individuals will be housed in one location for a duration of 13 weeks. Contestants will be selected from across the 6 geopolitical zones of Nigeria, and in view of its global perspective, it will be opened to African as a whole. Auditions will be held in the various regions at to-be-announced Locations. Flagging off the event, the Managing Director of OSoft Integrated Resources Limited Mr. Amos Olobo said that this Project was necessary to give the right platform for the realization of dreams of young individuals who wish to pick up a career in movie making. Reiterating this fact, the Nollywood Icon who is the face of the Project, Mr. Paul Sambo said that the project has never been more needful than now for the successful training and integration of individuals into the Nigerian Movie Industry. He further promised a show that will showcase core family values which Nigerians and by extension Africa is known for. Well, just because you have two master degrees doesn't mean you can't be a clown ... Someone actually shared the photo online and tied the decision of the guy to go into this type of job to the Nigeria situation. The only question here is how can someone undergoes the stress, the sacrifice, his time and utilizing is knowledge to obtain two Master degree and at the end become a clown at events? Guess by now we already know that Telecommunications companies in the country are planning to block calls made on Instant Messaging applications, WhatsApp and Skype in other to boost their revenue. Well, not sure they know that we also spend our hard earn money to purchase data which we spend during this calls? Recall, it was first a planned means to increase data tariff but when they saw the outrage on social media that was immediately deleted from their thoughts ... So now that they are planning to block calls from WhatsApp, Skype, and others, what's your take? Nigeria, the most populated country in Africa, is perceived to be the most corrupt among 60 corrupt countries evaluated, according to data from the 2016 Best Countries rankings. The rankings are a characterization of 60 countries based on a survey of more than 16,000 people from four regions. The USNews reports that in the survey, respondents answered how closely they related each of the 60 countries to the term "corrupt." Respondents were given no further specifications of the term, so interpretation of the word "corrupt" was left to survey respondents. Russia, seen as the second-most powerful country in the world, is also seen as the sixth most corrupt. Meanwhile, Colombia – a country synonymous with illegal drug kingpins like Pablo Escobar – gives Nigeria a run for its money as the second most corrupt country, based on perception. A zoo keeper at Indonesia’s Surabaya zoo has landed in trouble after he was arrested and charged with impregnating a female orangutan, reports the Kalimantan Press. The 38-year-old Zoo keeper was filmed in full action by a series of hidden cameras put in place by the zoo’s security officials after doubts emerged about the man’s devious actions towards the zoo animals. He was caught on camera having sexual intercourse with the animals. “Some animals seemed sexually aroused when it was time to feed them” explains Akhiroel Yahya, an employee of the zoo for 14 years. “But what made us most suspicious was when we discovered Marylin, our oldest orangutan, was pregnant. The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, Mr. John Oyegun, says God sent President Muhammadu Buhari to save Nigeria from collapse. Oyegun made the observation in Sokoto on Friday when he declared open a three-day retreat organised by the Kano State Chapter of the party for its officials and stakeholders on political party management. Additional Camps have been provided for the hosting of 2016 Batch ‘B’ Orientation camp, for corps members deployed to states with security challenges. The NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazaure, has praised the Governors of Bauchi, Gombe, Taraba and Zamfara states for providing the additional camps. According to The Guardian, he made the commendation at the opening of the 2016 Batch ‘B’ Pre-Orientation workshop in Calabar, Cross River State. Kazaure said the gesture will allow Bauchi, Gombe and Taraba states to host two camps simultaneously – one for corps members deployed to them and the other for Corps members deployed to Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states respectively. In the case of Zamfara State, both the permanent orientation camp and the additional camp will host corps members deployed to the state because the number of corps members is above the capacity of the permanent one. In a statement yesterday, Kazaure stressed the need for the three tiers of governments to live up to their statutory roles in the operations of the scheme, as a panacea for addressing the challenges of obsolete, dilapidated and inadequate state of facilities in most orientation camps. “We are encouraged, however, by the efforts of the Federal Government at providing funds in spite of obvious financial constraints. In particular, I wish to thank Mr. President for making it possible for all graduates to be mobilised for service in 2016,” he said.
