The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ilorin Zonal Office on May 28, 2019 arraigned two suspected Internet fraudsters at a Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin.

The suspects, Johnson Okuselu and Akande Saheed, were arraigned on two separate charges before Justice Sikiru Oyinloye.

One of the charges reads: “That you, Johnson Opeyemi Okuselu (a.k.a Blessed Saviour) sometime in April 2019, or thereabout at Ilorin, Kwara State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court attempted to commit an offence by pretending to be one Blessed Saviour, representing yourself to be a white Woman who is capable of providing job in the United States of America to one Omni Guzman as contained in your email conversation done through your Gmail account, contrary to Section 95 and 321 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 322 of the same law.”

They both pleaded “guilty” to the charges.

Counsel for the EFCC, A.A. Adebayo, told the Court that the defendants had entered into a plea bargain agreement with the Commission.

He, thus, asked the court to give a date for the prosecution to call its star witness in order to review the facts of the case.

Justice Oyinloye, thereafter, adjourned the case to June 8, 2019 for reviewing of facts, and ordered that the defendants be remanded in EFCC custody.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on May 21, 2019 arraigned one Bridget Okafor, a former Assistant Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs on a 13-count charge bordering on abuse of office to the tune ofN3,336,176,661.24 (Three Billion, Three Hundred and Thirty-six Million, One Hundred and Seventy-six Thousand, Six Hundred and Sixty-one Naira, Twenty-four Kobo). He was arraigned  before Justice Venchak S. Gaba of a Federal Capital Territory, FCT High Court, Kwali.

One of the counts reads: “That you, Bridget Chienyezu Okafor, whilst being employed in the public service and serving as Assistant Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service in charge of finance and revenue, sometime in 2015 at Abuja within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, did knowingly acquire a private interest in a contract awarded by Nigeria Customs Service to Erman Global Energy Engineering Nigeria limited, a company in which your children are directors and for which the Nigeria Customs Service paid the sum of eighty-nine million, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand, nine hundred and sixty-four naira (N89,999,964.00) only and you thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under section 12 of the Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences act, 2000.”

She pleaded “not guilty” to the charges.

Counsel for the EFCC, Francis Jirbo, thereafter, asked the court for a date for commencement of trial, in order to enable the prosecution present its witnesses.

Defence counsel, Efut Okoi, however, informed the Court of a pending application before the court seeking bail for the defendant.

Arguing the application for bail, Okoi, said: “The defendant has never been arraigned before any court for any alleged offence throughout her 35 years of service and she was also granted bail by the prosecution. She is a mother and a wife, hence she cannot jump bail.”

Okoi, thus, prayed the court to grant the defendant bail on liberal terms.

Former Arsenal striker, Nicklas Bendtner, will have to spend 50 days in jail after dropping his appeal against an assault conviction.

Recall that earlier this month, the Danish footballer, 30,  was found guilty of beating and kicking a cab driver in the Danish capital on September 9. He admitted to hitting the man but said he had acted in self-defense after a quarrel over the fare.



The incident took place in September. At trial, the City Court of Copenhagen was shown CCTV footage in which it appeared Bendtner struck the driver in the face.

Bendtner, who currently plays for Norwegian side Rosenborg, was sentenced to 50 days in prison and fined 1,500 kroner (£179).

His lawyer Anders Nemeth confirmed that Bendtner agreed with the attorney general in Copenhagen to drop his appeal, but will serve the sentence at his home in Denmark, under "intensive surveillance" with an electronic tag.

"Even though he disagrees with the verdict, he would rather focus on his club and family," Nemeth told the BBC.

But it's yet unknown when he will serve the sentence.

Ufoma McDermott narrates how her son was conceived via IVF; slams people who shame women who did not conceive naturally.

Actress Ufoma McDermott has told the story of the conception and birth of her son.

The mother-of-two said her son was conceived via IVF at a time when she and her husband decided that they were ready. She also added that her first son was delivered via C-section.

She proceeded to slam people who shame mothers for their method of conception and birth, adding that the ignorance that leads them to act in such a manner has to stop.

Her post, she says, is in celebration of International Children's Day, which was yesterday.

The Governor of Ogun state, Ibikunle Amosun, has said that the ruling All Progressive Congress has committed and unpardonable sin in the history of Nigeria.

According to Amosun, he stated that the cabal in Aso Rock is from a particular section of the country, playing on the intelligence of Nigerians and is expecting him to keep quiet.

Vice Presidential aspirant Peter Gregory Obi has reacted to the thread shared by filmmaker Kemi Adetiba in which she accused customs officers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, of harassment and attempted extortion.

According to the filmmaker, she was disrespected by customs officers when their attempt to bully her and shake her down for money didn't work.

Following her experience, Ms Adetiba lamented about the state of affairs in Nigeria and how corruption has eaten so deep.

In reply, Peter Obi apologised to her for her experience and suggested what can be done to make things better.

He wrote:

Georgina gave the advise while reacting to the viral story of the US based lady who is currently on life support after undergoing a nose job in Mexico. She reminded everyone of how a certain former first lady died in Spain after a botched surgery. Read what she wrote below
