The Super Eagles dropped three places to 45th spot in the latest FIFA world ranking released by International Federation of Association Football.

Despite holding firm to the third spot in Africa, Super Eagles failed to improve on their impressive jump back in April when the country moved four places in the ranking.

Meanwhile, Senegal is still the best team in Africa and are ranked 22nd in the world, with Tunisia in second and 25th globally

The Super Eagles are planning to go all out as they target their fourth continental crown in Egypt.


Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr revealed that his side are aiming to score more goals and will play offensive football at the Africa Cup of Nations finals.

The three-time African champions have included nine forwards in their 23-man squad list for the biennial showpiece.

Changchun Yatai's Odion Ighalo leads the frontline with Ahmed Musa, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Henry Onyekuru, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Kalu, Paul Onuachu and Victor Osimhen all included.
Despite settling for a goalless draw in their build-up game against Zimbabwe last Saturday, Rohr sees the available options upfront as an opportunity for the team to switch tactics during play and also give chance for fresh legs.

"We have a lot of strikers which means we want to score more goals and play offensive football, we also have good defenders," Rohr told Goal.

"Some of our strikers could play in the midfield or in the plan 3-5-2 on the side, so it is good to have the opportunity to change in our offensive methods.

"We have quickness and ability to change in the offensive department, We can also give them the chance to rest."

Tinubu's Wife becomes the first female Senate to be elected to serve in three consecutive Parliaments

The wife of former Lagos State Governor, Tinubu took to her Twitter page to announce that she is the first female Senate to be elected to serve in three consecutive Parliaments.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Benin Zonal Office on Monday, June 10, 2019 secured the conviction of Okhiemwen Roland Ekata aka (Zamani, Baron Wellington) before Justice A. A. Demi-Ajayi of the Federal High Court sitting in Benin City, Edo State.

Ekata was arraigned on an amended one-count charge bordering on intent to defraud and impersonation an offence contrary to Section 484 of the Criminal Code Act  CAP C38 of the Revised Edition (Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, and punishable under Section 484 of the same Act.

The charge reads: "That you Okhiemwen Roland Ekata 'M' aka Zamani, Baron Wellington on or about the 3rd day of June 2015 at Benin City,  Edo State,  within the jurisdiction of this honourable court,  being a citizen of Nigeria,  with intent to defraud,  you falsely represented yourself as Molton Cole, a citizen of England,  which you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 484 of the Criminal Code Act  Cap, C38 of the Revised Edition (Laws of the Federation of Nigeria) 2004, and punishable under Section 484 of the same Act”.

Upon his arraignment, the defendant pleaded guilty to the charge preferred against him by the EFCC.

And based on the plea bargain agreement between the prosecution counsel, Fredrick Dibang and the defence counsel, Osama Idehen, Justice Demi-Ajayi convicted and sentenced the defendant to one year imprisonment and a fine of N250,000.

The judge also ordered that an HP Pavilion Laptop recovered from the defendant which was linked to the crime, be forfeited to the Federal government of Nigeria as proceeds of crime.

Ekata journey to prison began when he falsely represented himself as Molton Cole, a citizen of England with the intent to defraud unsuspecting victims.

1. Exactly twenty years ago, our nation turned the corner with a general election that signalled the end of a long spell of military dictatorship. With that came promises of good governance, equity and justice under the ambience of leadership driven by the will of the people.

2. Our celebration of democracy is therefore, a mark of our commitment to the virtues of liberty, justice and the people’s freedom to daily engage government on how best to achieve our national goals.

3. We may not have realised these promises and all that are possible in the new dispensation but democracy to me remains an incubator for great ideas, visions, development and hope.

4. That is why I urge all citizens not to give in to pessimism and despair as our nation battles the challenges of insecurity, the scourge of unemployment and prevalent poverty, all of which threaten national peace and unity.

5. As a nation, it is imperative for us to continue to strive for improvements in our electoral processes. There is a need to deepen the gains so far attained by advancing the frontiers of credible electoral processes, fidelity to the rule of law & adherence to constitutionalism.

6. A credible electoral process is no doubt fundamental to making democracy work for us as a people, as it sufficiently empowers citizens to freely choose or reject their political leadership, thereby serving as an incentive for good governance.

7. Democracy has come to stay. So, let us stay in the creed and virtues of justice, equity, and love which makes democracy a solid ground of freedom, good governance, peace, and hope.

Adekunle Kosoko, popularly known as Adekunle Gold, suffered a terrible loss as his father passed on late last night.

Prince Hakeem Adeyemi Kosoko, the Permanent Secretary of Education District 4, died during the night after suffering an undisclosed ailment.

Mr Kosoko was flown abroad due to the ailment and his position had to be temporarily filled by a replacement for over a month. He recently returned to Nigeria to recover

Sadly, he passed on hours ago.
A teacher who works under Mr Kosoko's district in Lagos revealed to LIB that his death was announced to the teachers in Education District 4 this morning. The cause of death has not been revealed.

He is survived by his wife, children, including Adekunle Gold, and more family members.
