When you say “Peter Obi won three states in the North,” ask yourself : what exactly do you mean by North?

If we are speaking geographically, Obi won Plateau and Nasarawa, plus the FCT. But FCT is not a state in the true sense of it.

And even those results were not “core North” votes in the political sense. They were largely Christian/protest votes in the North Central belt.

In the Muslim North, Obi was nowhere near competitive. Kogi: 12.31%. Kwara: 6.63%. Niger: 10.33%. Kano: 1.67%. Katsina: 0.60%. Sokoto: 1.12%. Zamfara: 0.33%. Yobe: 0.64%.

So when Sheriff talks about the North, he is not talking about Plateau/FCT-style protest voting. He is talking about the deep northern voting bloc. And the numbers are clear: Obi did not break into that bloc in 2023.

A strong southern presidential candidate can definitely win the presidential election without a significant votes from those two core northern regions obi will definitely do better this time and penetrate those core northern states this time he is running with a formidable northern politician like kwankwaso.

In my view, Peter Obi has not demonstrated that he has practical solutions to Nigeria's challenges. I see him as someone whose rhetoric has not been matched by a convincing roadmap for governance. Compared to former President Buhari, I believe he would perform no better, and I also question his willingness to make difficult and politically costly decisions.

Meaningful reforms require courage, political will, and the willingness to make difficult decisions despite public criticism. In my opinion, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shown more of those qualities through the reforms his administration has pursued. A good student of history would understand that countries such as China endured periods of severe economic hardship and international ridicule before achieving rapid development. Through sustained policy reforms, long-term planning, and determined leadership over many years, China transformed itself into one of the world's largest economies and a major global power. My belief is that genuine national transformation requires patience, consistency, and leaders who are prepared to pursue difficult reforms in pursuit of long-term progress.

What's the use of all the reforms if it's only making less than 1% of the nigerian population stupendously rich? Using china as example is quite very laughable because u will never see 5% of the level of corruption in nigeria's corridor of power within the Chinese govt circles.

It's not possible to go back to the old regional system anymore the states we have right now can become states under the regions, apart from a few more infrastructures we have now the quality of life under regional govts is far better than the quality of life we have now no arguments about that. Back then the naira was almost equivalent to the dollar, undergraduates get quality jobs while still in school before graduation, crime rates was at the barest minimum compared to now, nigeria have global respect and recognition than now plus many more.
