The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arraigned one Mamman Ibrahim before Justice A. I. Kutigi of the Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Gwagwalada on two counts of criminal breach of trust.

Ibrahim, who served as a pilot in charge of the Air Ambulance Aviation Unit and Helicopter Emergencies Service of the National Emergency Management Agency, was alleged to have diverted over N91m meant for the maintenance of the agency’s air fleet.

His arraignment followed a petition to the office of the Vice-President, which was forwarded to the office of the acting EFCC Chairman for investigation.

Investigations revealed that Ibrahim commercialised the services of the ambulance and the helicopter.

He allegedly claimed that the directive to do so was given to him by the office of a former Vice-President and a former Accountant-General of the Federation.

It was further revealed that the sum of N285m was realised from the commercialisation of the aircraft, while only N63m was paid to the AGF.

It was also gathered that N11m was paid to NEMA, while the balance had yet to be accounted for.

The petition stated that over N4m was paid into the account of Aerocare West Africa Limited, a company belonging to the defendant, which he transferred to his family members.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In view of his plea, the prosecution counsel, Deborah Ademu-Eteh, asked the court for a trial date, but the defence counsel, Aduojo Abah, moved a motion for the bail of his client.

Ademu-Eteh opposed the application, urging the court to “consider the severity of the punishment and the character of the evidence before the court.”

Three persons have been arrested by operatives of the Edo State Police Command in connection with a video in which one Miss Favour Ada was stripped and tortured for alleged theft.

Ada was allegedly accused of stealing an iPhone worth over N440,000 at Ugbiyoko, a suburb of Benin.

The video, which went viral on the social media, showed the 25-year-old lady being stripped and tortured before pepper was forced into her private parts by her attackers.

A source at the Edo State Police Command told Southern City News in confidence that three suspects were already in their custody.

“Yes, three suspects have been arrested. They were picked up at the Ugbiyoko area of the town. They accused her (Ada) of stealing an iPhone worth about N440,000, and did all that to her,” the source said.

It was learnt that the victim, who was seriously injured as a result of the attack, was currently recuperating at the intensive care unit of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital.

Efforts to get the state Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, to speak on the development failed, as he was said to be in Abuja with the State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu.

An HIV-positive maid was yesterday sentenced to 25 years in prison for intentionally infecting a 10-year-old boy with the virus and a sexually transmitted infection in Zimbabwe.

40-year-old Memory Makore allegedly coaxed the boy on two occasions, infecting him with HIV and genital warts.

She pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated indecent assault and to deliberately transmitting HIV, when she appeared before Harare Magistrate Jessy Makufa.

Prosecutor Chipo Matambo said in April, 2018, Makore undressed the minor and had sex with him without protection.

Matambo said in May, the boy went to stay with his grandmother and started developing genital warts and was later treated for STI at the Murewa Hospital.

However, on New Year’s Eve, the maid allegedly undressed the minor and had unprotected sexual intercourse with him again. The boy eventually narrated his ordeal to his mother, leading to Makore’s arrest.

A video purportedly showing two women fighting over a Nigerian man in New York is being circulated online.

In the video shared to Instagram, a white woman can be seen getting into a fight with a black woman who is allegedly her boyfriend's ex.

The black girl, who is reportedly of Nigerian descent too, was seen in the video walking down a narrow hallway when the white girl walked up to her and began hitting her. This turned into a violent fight, with the white woman's dog joining in to attack the black girl.

The men later stepped in, but it looked more like they were more interested in subduing the black girl than they were in stopping the white girl from hitting her. They held the black girl back, but allowed the white girl to keep hitting her.

Ghanaian actress, Martha Ankomah has stated in a recent interview that she has never been to a night club to party. According to the dark-skinned actress, the only time she goes to a night club is when it is used as a location for a movie shoot.

“I’ve never been to the night club before. The only time I go to the nightclub is when I am acting. My friends know. When they are going out at night I don’t go,” Martha Ankomah.

She continued by stating that her not going to night clubs has helped her in so many ways.

“it has helped me a save money”.

Martha Ankomah further revealed how a Christian upbringing played a huge role in her life.

“You will have to go to Sunday school before you eat rice water. For me, becoming a Christian started from childhood. My mum and dad contributed a lot. Growing up till date, I give credit to God and my mum. When I give birth, I’ll train my daughters the same way”, she said.

Why did Multichoice decide to bring the show to Nigeria?

It made sense that we bring it here. The first one we did was See Gobe, and Double Wahala last year eclipsed See Gobe …it was completely flawless. Now at that state we said there’s no doubt that bringing the show to Nigeria would be the right decision. It would be worth the investment and it’s exciting for us. Corporate Nigeria and sponsors have latched onto it in a big way so in my view, it’s going to be bigger than all the shows we have ever done.

How is the selection process for housemates carried out?

I’m not on the selection panel but for this year, the mixture of different individuals will determine the final number that will go into the house.

Will the partnership with Bet9ja be a long term deal?

For this season, Bet9ja has an option to renew. We have had different sponsors in the past and it depends on what their priorities for the season are.

Will there ever be a female host?

We had two hosts for the first one Big Brother Nigeria – Michelle Dede and Olisa Adibua. So let’s see what happens with this one.

Will there a bigger prize money this season?

I can put it this way – I can’t say about the prize money but the total value of the grand prize will exceed N45m.
