that article only fit for the presidential dustbin. The whole article is an antithesis of what's on ground. He said the President eats simple meals, no exotic meal. Then the President must be arrested for misappropriation public funds because no fish pepper soup, boiled plantain and yam will cost a family the budgeted 1 billion a year. none. thrash sycophantic article |
musty1987: ojukwu was nt a Nigerian, he was a biafran. honesty that ape looking guy can never b on naija note.still looks better than your father, awo, Tinubu and obasanjo |
garba: does treason make one a hero? How can the biggest traitor in our history be honoured as such...? This is absurdwhat treason. The people he represents wants to quit this shytehole of a nation too and so far as they remain a part of Nigeria against their will the right thing must be done always |
onye ego: There must be something about d MAN OJUKWU, anytime his name is mentioned some people poo in their pantI Tire oh. I didn't even know that this my 2 cents will even make the homepage. The essence of my post was to state that the National Assembly should debate whoever should have their faces on Naira notes not a mallam that does not know his right from his left. This thread is the same as the agitation for igbo presidency. |
collins123: @OP how does this affect the price of Garri for *obalende*?very stale. I don't care about the price of garri but a 5000 note will sure increase the price of garri. lol |
Toktee: The face of a war criminal on nigerian currency, dat means osama bin ladin and charles taylor wil soon be on the currencywhen will you lots learn to keep shut. what are people like Murtala Muhammed and the coward and felon awo doing on the Naira note. What did they contribute to Nigeria. If those crooks can get their ugly faces on the Naira note then a more respectable person internationally in the person of ojukwu should be honored with a higher denomination as a sign of respect to his people at least until the cessoit called Nigeria is divided or the nation should be disintegrated in essence. |
^ As long as we still stay in this shytehole called Nigeria the right thing must be done. |
Ufeolorun: Another petty thread,by the way there's one here https://www.nairaland.com/1027995/post-civil-war-indigenization-policy-far-reaching/2 join the victims-conventionthere is nothing petty in saying the truth. |
Sirniyeh: Frankly speaking, N5000 note is not a problem neither is it a solution to naija economic melt down. But what I sincerely disagree with is introduction of N10 and N20 coins. Wahalahi, problem go dey! Because of the coin, the least okada drop will be N50. Sometimes you have N20 into 10 making N200 in your pocket and nobody will know how much you carry. But now with coin, i cant just imagine the wahala wey go gash. May God help us in naijaits just a harsh policy. Nigerians can't go back to coins. The previous attempt failed woefully so we are just going to see the 20 10 and 5 denominations phased out indirectly . inflation comes in because prices of things will go up and Naira further weakens against the dollar. The whole thing is illogical. There is absolutely no reason for that because it's not gonna improve the economy 1 bit |
Why The Choice Of Faces On The N5000 Inflationary Note And Not Ojukwu I don't support that N5000 note one bit. It's illogical. There was basically no reason for it and it was not done to improve the economy, just for some selfish reasons by mallam. However if the government must have its way, why wasn't ojukwu honored with that. Why would people like Murtala Muhammed and Awolowo have their corny faces on the Naira note and not Ojukwu. Am yet to know the relevance of the women proposed and their popularity in Nigeria. Also, I think the National Assembly should have powers to debate issues like this before it is implemented. CBN is not a private organization. I rest my case |
niggadee: mumu keep listen 2 crap officer rick ross burger belly.Rick Ross has next show in the great Wembley Arena London. You can just see how ignorant and uninformed you and that ogugua are. We are talking Wembley here idi/iot. http://thenetng.com/2012/08/25/rick-ross-to-perform-at-wembley-arena/ |
ogugua88: *sighs*looooooooooooooooooooooooooool at this definition of mainstream and hardcore. somebody is talking murder and you call it mainstream. This is hardcore that went mainstream. Massacre too his second album did over 10 million copies and there was no in da club. I that's to give you that pass that in da club is pop |
I can tell by 88's "nevada" line she was trying to allude to the fact "White America" does not know Hip Hop artist Which is not true at all "White America" are Rap artist Largest Purchasing Audience. These little white suburban Kids eat these Rap Albums up like Kandii...wtf @that spelling..I mean Candy.
these white kids have taken this stuff seriously than black folks, look how white rappers both male and female are coming out everyday in droves. rap may be the new rock - taken over by white folks |
I was talking about Popularity as Well. I gave examples of the Hip Hop Stranglehold on Popularity from both Demographics And you said you can't recall a hardcore rapper that has crossed bridges while they were hardcore 50 cent was not a household name...he is the answer to your question He was a Hardcore rapper who crossed over and had his highest success during his "gangsta" image After he got soft, and turned pop...making videos with Justin timberlake...people stopped buying his music. 50 Cent was not Mainstream since day 1. Ill give you a Rapper right now... "The Game" His main album sold over 5 million when he was with Aftermath. He was killing the charts. Hip Hop music has a Strangle Hold on popularity they dominate the Triple headed monster, Television,Charts,Urban Mega Cities Why are Media Whoores like Kim K chasing after Hip Hop Artist instead of artist from majority white genre's if Hip Hop artist are not the most Popular? Don't say it's race because there are Black Artist from Other Music Genre
you skipped Snoop Dogs Doggystyle album, the highest selling debut of all time by a new artists of any genre, Dr dres albums that were pushing platinum like pure water even when majors refused signing them for their gangster lyrics until Jimmy iodine signed them and the majors all came back. If anything the rap game has lost touch |
ogugua88: Rihanna didn't know superstardom until "Umbrella" came out. I think I told you that earlier. However, she was famous before that track with "Pon de Replay", "SOS", and a few others.funny. Nobody even know those Rihanna tracks you mentioned. it was umbrella that brought her into mainstream America. jayz signed her straight from Barbados she couldn't ve done it on her own. sos may be a hit track but it's not mainstream worthy ask people like keri hilson. I can't repeat myself on Katy Perry. I wikepedia is no link. You goofed accept it and stop this silly arguments |
ogugua88: You're the only one talking about units. I wasn't talking about units. I was clearly talking about popularity. Pop artists can perform wherever they like. Rappers can't, not unless you're mainstream and a household name like Snoop, Eminem, and 50 Cent. Out of the three of them, Eminem is considered the hardest. Snoop is a family man singing/rapping pop songs now and 50 Cent was mainstream from day 1. I honestly can't recall a rapper that came out as a hardcore rapper and crossed bridges while they were hardcore. I'm not old enough to know how Tupac and Biggie were doing while they were alive, but they achieved it in death.what a bunch of thrash. Tupac was selling tens of millions of albums even back in the day. What do you mean by rappers cannot perform everywhere. you have not seen Nelly's show in Russia or Busta Ryhme in Japan. Eminem just concluded a huge set of shows in Japan this month which was shown on tv. Even small rapper's like game are pulling crowds everywhere. you have a warped knowledge of hip hop. you don't know how far it has come. you don't know the role it played in Obama becoming president. you don't know what it means for a NY senator to start a protest March against Lil Wayne for just saying he hates NY. you are just arguing for the sake of it |
Rick Ross...Yes but you did not say Rick Ross... You said... "Rappers carry Last" were they carrying last when eminem was pushing 14 million units? were they carrying last when 50 cent pushed 10 million units? Are they carrying last with this bum 2chainz on top of the Charts as we speak?
lol. Maybe last is the new first |
ogugua88: You're absolutely wrong. "I Kissed A Girl" caused a media storm. Katy Perry was already topping charts with that track, as well as "Hot and Cold" and her Vegas song before her second album. It was umbrella that broke Rihanna into the mainstream. case closed. Admit you don't know how Katy Perry became famous. Go find out her biggest song |
ogugua88: I'm not changing the argument at all. I stand by what I said. Rick Ross is not as popular as mainstream popstars. Simple. Some people turn the radio dial JUST because it's a rap song. Wake up.and you don't know how many people that have stopped listening to radio cos of pop songs. is radio even still relevant again? |
ogugua88: Katy Perry doesn't have to have a black majority as an audience. Blacks buy pop albums. Most of the people that buy rap albums are blacks. If blacks didn't buy rap albums, then rap albums wouldn't sell. Try and refute that claim.you are truly ignorant. White people buy majority of rap albums go find out. You know who buys albums again? gays. Black people bootleg. you keep disgracting yoself on this thread. don't say what you don't know |
ogugua88: Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl" (controversial song) made her famous. Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" made her famous [her very first track took the nation by storm]. Rihanna was famous before "Umbrella".you don't even know how these people became famous in the first place. It was snoop dogs song with Katy Perry that brought her into the the lime light the one with Kanye sealed it. I told you to stop calling Rihanna if you thought it was only umbrella jayz did for her. You didn't watch when he was introducing her on 106 and park on bet. For lady gaga go watch the just dance video. |
ogugua88: Or maybe you didn't read what I said. I said nobody swarms to Rick Ross the way Nigerians do. I never spoke about album-selling and chart stats. I said Rick Ross isn't widespread the way Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry are. Rick Ross can't do a show in Japan or Russia the way those girls do. Check the demographics of rap albums being sold. They pull the same people. That's what rappers have been fighting for years. They want more exposure.more gibberish. how many black people buy Katy Perrys album. how do you define your demographic. I will rather choose to sell 1million copies of my record in one place than sell 100k 'widespreadly' that's going by your logic. you are not making any sense |
ogugua88: Akon handpicked Lady Gaga, sure. He didn't feature on her song and then use his fame to bolster her own. Beyonce made Beyonce, or were Destiny's Child nobodies too? Rihanna was already played on the radio and popular before "Umbrella".was Beyonce the only person in Destiny's child? people became more interested in b when she started dating jayz. how did Beyonce blow up? Crazy in love. That's her biggest song to date. don't even talk of Rihanna cos Jayz gave birth to that one and made her everything she is today just like he is about to do with Rita Ora. I already talked about Katy Perry |
ogugua88: You don't know what you're talking about. Maroon 5 has been consistent since their debut in 2003. If anything, they've only gotten bigger with the release of every album.I just keep laughing at your post. pls when did Maroon 5 have their last number 1, no, top 10 single? I never said Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry are irrelevant, I said hip hop made them famous. Rihanna - Jayz, Lady Gaga - Akon, Katy Perry - Kanye West and Snoop Dog, Taylor Swift - Kanye West. Those were their claim to fame |
I am not sure she knows what she is saying. She basically thought Hip Hop Artist/Rap Artist did not sell as well and had a small purchasing population... Until she was hit in the face by a bunch of Irrefutable Numerical Data... It is, what it is.
lol... she musta been embarrassed by her ignorance |
ogugua88: I didn't say whether or not they sell albums. I'm talking about popularity. The artists I mentioned were already famous before they did their collabos with rappers/hiphop artists. Even when they did collabos, they did them with veterans with the exception of Maroon 5, who were already beyond established and used someone that they have more industry years than.hahahahaha. Akon picked lady gaga when she was dropped by her label, I think also produced that just dance song that made her famous. of course you know Jay z made Beyonce and Rihanna. what are you saying |
ogugua88: Sorry. No one relocated. Are you saying Maroon 5 were nobodies before Wiz Khalifa featured on "Payphone"? How much you know sef?they are currently nobodies just like Madonna, Britney Spears, and a ton of artists that have lost relevance. I bet if it was when Maroon 5 was Maroon 5, they wouldn't have needed a wiz khalifa feature but that song brought them back on top. Get it? |
chipmunkey: Okay i love Rita Ora and her wired songs and i bet she`s lucky to have Jaz z as her label boss. But our own Nneka made me visit this thread and just in case you know her just let her know a dude is crushing on her badly.my friend take your time oh. Can't you her name on my signature. she is already taken. look elsewhere ![]() Big ups Nneka, Nigeria's truly biggest international artist. I just pray Jay z signs her into roc nation too for you that track and for the talent she is. I love you girl. did I say Rita too is a talent. "the next Rihanna' mods should move this thread to the homepage immediately, this is the girl truly doing us proud without fuse not all those talentless people the call musicians with fake publicity stunts that will never blow internationally. Nneka is performing on the main stage not mini stages like dbanj and it was on Front Page! I rest my case |
The Fact that a Rap Bum like Flo-Rida is number 2 on the Billboard charts right now speaks of how high Even Hip Hop Trash Sells.... I wish i could co-sign her comment, but i just can't Hip Hop is just too powerful, even the Garbage Rappers push units.
souja boy has stopped pushing units oh. ![]() true talk sha. lol |
Hip Hop Artist sell more than Every Other Genre. If you go from Late 1990S Through the 2000s I am not sure about that "Rappers carry last" comment... You even named artist who had to collaborate with Hip Hop artist just to get recognized Not to mention they were discovered and put on by a Hip Hop Artist and Label Referencing Lady Gaga, and Rihanna I don't even like Hip Hop Music of today, but i think it's fairly safe to say they still dominate the music game On Television i Remember when Mtv use to play more rock music, now you can't even find Mtv Stations that Play Rock, it's mostly Hip Hop All day Long Not sure what that comment meant.
don't mind that local girl that knows nothing happening in the music industry. Not even relocating to the us could save her ignorance. Even Maroon 5 had to get at wiz khalifa to be able to get a smashing back to back chart topping single. With all Justin Biebers fame his last album was filled with hip hop features to enable him sell. |
