Abagworo: Is Owerri a city? Well it will pass for a beautiful town to me. Port-Harcourt cannot be compared with Owerri because it is a large complex advanced city by Nigerian standard.

Those "Rumu" are peoples villages that were engulfed by the rapidly expanding city. The village areas look slummy but everywhere else around them are modern. For example Shell RA is located just beside Rumuokwurusi village and the contrast is clear. Elekahia housing is located beside the village too with sharp contrast. Same as GRA beside Oroazi village.

How can you say ph is a complex city when the port in ph starts and ends in Aba road. Like ve told you, ve lived in ph and its overrated. Nothing significant. Someone was talking bridges. Even with the so called bridges, ph has the worst traffic scenario in Africa. Whats the need? You need to visit owerri to understand what I mean by beauty and planning. People are just going to ph to make oil money. I'd rather I have my family live in owerri while I work in the jungle called ph

Presidential hotel? A 17th century hotel that is out of touch with current reality. I had previously lodged at Novotel (Stadium road) a lot of modern day hotels in owerri beats it hands down. Have you been to rumuodara? All the rumus, They are all slums. Yes, there is MORE money in PH than oweeri but it doesnt automatically lead to a decent city. There are areas you will go to in heart of ph that you will not see a single story building (rumuomasi axis with those Ikwerre people). I never said the economic life in owerri is better than ph or there is more money in owerri than Ph, far from it. I just said owerri is more beautiful than ph. When they say Lagos, Ph and Abuja, its because of economic activities. Abuja is more beautiful than lagos but lagos is more popular. Thats it. You just need to visit owerri. Ph is quite turning out to be the city you make the money while owerri will be the city you spend the money.

Ok take for example, when the north talks, they talk of Abuja and Kano

the the west talk, they talk of Ibadan and Lagos

when the east talk, they can easily talk of Rivers and Anambra but it does not stop there, It seems like you people inspire other states in the east to be at the same competitive level as the rest regardless of rivers and anambra. It is defiantly worth emulating.

While others are relaxed with what they have, you all are not, you believe it could be better.

I find this competitive nature very useful in Nigeria if Nigeria is to grow from a developing country to a developed country.

It is stup!d to compare Anambra and Abia. Anambra has onitsha which is 5 times > than Aba the only pride of Abia. Ok, umuahia will compete with rickety Awka but then, there is still Nnewi, ALL individually developed even with govt neglect. Anambra is light years ahead of abia. What they just need is the right govt (I hope they vote soludo in 2014) who will expand and dualize roads, demolish illegal and crappy structures, plan the cities, AIRPORT, provide infrastructures to allow standard economic activities to flow. I bet, with that in place Anambra will overtake rivers and even compete with lagos. Peter obi is just a setback

Guy, you have been spreading falso infomation all around here since. You clearly dont know what is development. Ph is just a hustling city where oil money is for the taking why owerri is a well planned and inhabitable city more like modelled after miami, paris and the rest. Your comparing Abia state to Anambra state in terms of development tells all about your primitivity. You can stop trolling.

Another reason is the SabMiller beer factory in Onitsha. The governors personal project which he is using state funds to build. Recall that when peter obi was impeached, all work stopped at the factory and the 'owners' said they were going back to SA because of lack of rule of law or something, only to come back when the governor was reinstated. LoL. This factory is projected to be the biggest of its kind in Africa and the governor is determined to complete it and commission it before he leaves office. These two major factors are the cause of absence of quality and remarkable govt projects in the state.
I must say I like what is going on here, the pressure that have been raised on Abia state govt has seen the Governor getting to work lately but sadly orji has not done worse than obi but he got the hotter backlash so lets move the spotlight to Peter Obi. He seems to be getting away with so much. No infrastructure, No nothing. And please all these self appointed Ndigbo leaders on Nairaland should please stay away from here. Igbos are independent and dont need any 4king leader. This is about economic development. No tribal coloration

There has been so many threads on the state of Anambra & the Governor's inactivity lately so I decided to embark on a research to find out why the Governor who promised so much before his first election has even left the state worse than he met it.
Findings: His bank Fidelity Bank.
I discovered that Anambra money has become the capital and solid rock of this bank. Fidelity bank might not pride itself as having more customers than many banks today, but they sure have more money than many banks. I think Anambra Money is the reason why Fidelity stands strong today. And it would not be healthy to make huge withdrawals from the bank to undertake projects, thats where the 'Saving Anambra Money' slogan came from. SMFH. Now why would you save a public money when one day you will leave & another person will use it as he finds fit? And more so the underdevelopment caused by 'saving Anambra Money' is robbing the state of its economic potentials and making it a backward state... Anambra people need to be enlightened.

Dear adviser are you not ashamed of these crappy projects you posted here that looks like the achievements of a local government chairman? Cheap house without aesthetics making the environment more ugly. Anambra needs a governor that will bring these crappy projects down and get to work. You need to visit imo. Bye

Gov. Olusegum Mimiko of Ondo State said that time was ripe for Nigerians to celebrate worthy individuals that have made their marks in the nation in diverse areas rather than celebrating inanities. He said this during the celebration of his 3rd year in office at the Civic centre in Akure, Ondo State.

The Governor, who revealed that he has the giant photo of Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State in his parlour, said that it was mark of his admiration for the Governor for his style of leadership, decency and commitment to Nigeria. He said that he admired him for his resilience in the pursuit of ennobling acts and gave example with his court cases that set the standards in Nigeria and improved her jurisprudence.

He referred to Obi as the first Governor to remove a sitting Governor, come back from impeachment and to go for tenure interpretation. In his words, “if not for this man (pointing at Obi), I would have served only two years.”
Mimiko said that because of the respect and love for the Governor, that he was the only Governor he invited to the event.

In his speech earlier, Obi who was the chairman of the occasion, said that he had tremendous respect for Mimiko. He described him as one Nigeria that is not afraid of his voice, who would always stand by things that will be of benefit to his people and to the country.

Obi said that going by his pedigree and what he has been able to do in Ondo State, that he merited to be re-elected.
