The concept "forgive and forget" originates with God himself. We can see this in Jeremiah 31:34 "... for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more".
By saying, He will remember their sin no more, God is assuring us that once he forgives our sins, he will not bring it up again in order to accuse,condem or punish us. Not necessarily that his memory will fail him because God is a perfect being and cannot suffer failed memory.
Like God, how can we also forgive and forget today?
We may never completely forget what was done, but we can forget in the sense that we don't hold it against the offender, bring the matter up again at some future time nor gossip about it again. That way we are imitating God.

Human violence is almost as old as mankind. The bible traces violence back to cain. Violence did not solve cain's problems neither can it solve ours. Having the golden rule in our heart at all times will help us to act right and live peaceably with others.

"All things that you want men to do to you, you must also do to them" (Matt 7:12)

The bible says that the one who is quick to anger acts foolishly ( Prov 14:17)

True christians do not romance with sin, rather they take to heart God's warnings regarding sin.

Matt 6:13 " And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil"
Eph 5:3 " But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you as becometh saint"

So how can someone who calls himself a christian be in such house and avoid all these.

Indeed as Prov 27:12 " A prudent man forseeth the evil and hideth himself : but the simple pass on, and are punished".

What an inhuman and barbaric act from the room mate. Events like this clearly fulfils the bible prophesy about the time we are now living- the end time.
At 2Tim 3:1-5, vs3 in particular mentions among other things that during the end time people will be " without selfcontrol and fierce". This traits characterize people today.
God has promised at Psalm 37:9,10 that He will soon remove such wicked ones. What a relief that will bring to the meek.

Providing a safe and secure society is truly beyond any human govt. At best, what they can do is what they are doing.
The bible has said it long ago at Jeremiah 10:23 that "it doesn't belong to man who is walking even to direct his step"
Nevertheless, how comforting it is that the time when all will live in absolute peace and security is near. Micah 4:4
