PoliticsOmokri Reacts To Lai Mohammed’s Insistence That IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu Are Terrorists by Mrrationalshop(op): 4:13pm On Sep 28, 2017
Former Special Adviser on New Media to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, on Thursday reacted to Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed’s latest claim on the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
Mohammed had insisted that the pro-Biafra group and its leader, Nnamdi Kanu are terrorists.
Featuring on BBC Focus Africa, on Wednesday, the Minister expressed regrets that the United States, US, does not share the same view with Nigeria on IPOB, a situation he described as “unfortunate.”
However, Omokri, who faulted Mohammed’s Federal Government’s stance on IPOB wondered why herdsmen who “do violence and killing” are not considered as terrorists.
In a tweet via his Twitter handle, Omokri wrote: “Lai told @BBC IPOB talk about violence and it makes them terrorists. Herdsmen dont talk. They DO VIOLENCE & KILLING. What does it make them?”

IPOB members are terrorists, while Fulani herdsmen are mere criminals - Lai Mohammed

PoliticsIPOB Members Are Terrorists, While Fulani Herdsmen Are Mere Criminals - Lai Moha by Mrrationalshop(op): 3:35pm On Sep 28, 2017
Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information, has stated that the federal government did not designate Fulani herdsmen as terrorists because their activities were criminal and not terror related.
Mohammed made his comments on the BBC’s Focus on Africa programme.
.
the minister made the comments in reaction to criticisms over the federal government’s decisions to label the pro-Biafra group, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), as a terrorist group, and not the marauding herdsmen.
He stressed that the agenda of the herdsmen was not the same as that of IPOB, insisting that“acts of criminality should not be confused with terrorism acts”.
Mohammed gave reasons why the pro-Biafra group deserved the designation as a terrorist movement.
In his words:“For instance, Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB leader was caught on tape, saying that they want Biafra and not peacefully, but by force.
“He declared that if they do not get Biafra, Somalia will be a paradise with the kind of mayhem they will unleash on Nigeria.
“The group openly embraced arms and ammunition; and the leader set up Biafra National Guard, Biafra Secret Service and openly attacked army formations.
“When an organisation decides to not just attack the Army but set up its own parallel government; when an organisation openly solicits for arms all over the world; when an organisation starts issuing out its own passports and currency and does not recognize the democratically elected government, then it becomes a different thing.”
.
He said the Nigerian federal government does not agree with the US stance on the hot-bed issue.

CrimeParis Club Refund: C’river Not Under EFCC Investigation – Commissioner by Mrrationalshop(op): 8:16am On Sep 22, 2017
Cross River State Government has denied being investigated by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an allegation of paying money to a consultancy firm.
A statement issued in Calabar by the state Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Asuquo Ekpenyong Jr, described as fake news the purported investigation of the state, along with three others, for allegedly paying money to a consultancy firm from its Paris & London Club Refunds by the EFCC.
He said: “The report is not only puerile but also a figment of the imagination of the authors of the story.”
Ekpenyong maintained that “the state did not and has not paid a dime to anybody in the name of consultancy from the Paris Club Refund.”
The Commissioner noted that the misinformation was aimed at bringing the state into disrepute and causing public disaffection and however, called on Cross Riverians and indeed, Nigerians as a whole to ignore the report.
According to him, “It is rather sad and regrettable that the same media that not long ago lavishly published a report about alleged freezing of the account of the state for refusing to pay for the services of a consultant from the said fund is the one now reporting that the state, along with three others is being investigated by the (EFCC) for purportedly paying money to a consultant from the said fund. What can be more contradictory than this?”
He said “For the avoidance of doubt, Cross River State government is not aware of it being under any investigation by the EFCC on account of the Paris Club Refund as claimed in the media,” adding that “all payments made from the account are traceable”
Mr Ekpenyong said: “It is on record that disbursements so far made from the Paris Club refund have been for the payment of pensions, gratuities and salaries. We wish to reiterate, for the avoidance of doubt that not a kobo from the fund has been paid to anybody for whatever consultancy services.
“This administration has continued to observe the tenets of probity by adhering strictly to the fiscal regulations as enthroned in the three legislations governing operations of public accounting in Cross River State, namely, Fiscal Responsibility Law; Public Finance Management Law; and the Public Procurement Law.
“I must state without any fear of contradiction that the state is growing tired of the new found preoccupation of idlers and peddlers of mischief who are hell bent on not only distracting the focus of this administration on delivering on its electoral mandate, but also stoke tension in the polity.
“It is time the media availed itself of the Freedom of Information law by seeking information from appropriate quarters on issues of public concern”, he stated.

PoliticsIPOB Can Still Win Terrorism Case Against Nigerian Government - NBA Chief Ubani by Mrrationalshop(op): 10:00pm On Sep 21, 2017
The second vice president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Monday Ubani, has reacted to the proscription of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) by the Federal High Court in Abuja‎.
Ubani said the ruling showed that he and some other Nigerians were right after all when they argued that the Nigerian army does not have the power to declare IPOB a terrorist group.
He however argued that the challenge before Nigeria in relation to the ruling is the fact that IPOB is not a registered entity in Nigeria.
.
“The ruling by the Federal High Court, Abuja on Wednesday shows that some of us were right when we said that the Nigerian military was wrong to have pronounced IPOB a terrorist organisation without following due process.
“It also showed that we were right when we told the south-east governors that they have no right under the law to proscribe IPOB.
“The proscription of any organization as stipulated by law is through a judicial process,”Ubani said in a statement to NAIJ.comon Thursday, September 21.
He said it was lamentable that the government had already proscribed the group before rushing to the court to seek a ruling.
“The issue now is if you say you have proscribed an organisation and that organisation is not registered in law, there is a problem. Our laws stipulate that only a juristic person can be sued.
“I believe IPOB is not registered under our laws. So there is a problem because the court has just proscribed an organsation that is not registered under our laws.
“If you take a look at the court order, it says IPOB, whereas there is no entity known as IPOB under our laws…This is clearly a complex situation.
“I think what IPOB has to do now is to proceed to the court to challenge the order.
.
“Even if, assuming without conceding that IPOB was properly registered under our law, does it qualify to be labelled a terrorist organisation based on our laws and arguments advanced by the Attorney-General?
“As it stands today, IPOB by way of the Federal High Court order, remains a terrorist organization but that order can be challenged and set aside,”Ubani argued.

PoliticsNo Retreat, No Surrender: We Will Continue Agitation For Biafra’s Freedom — IPOB by Mrrationalshop(op): 9:37pm On Sep 21, 2017
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful said the Nigerian Army lack the constitutional power to declare any group as a terrorist group, saying that it will ignore the declaration by the Army and any other group and continue its agitation for Biafra restoration.
We in IPOB condemn the illegal declaration made by Nigerian army labelling the peaceful freedom fighting organization as IPOB as a terrorist organization. We found the statement made by Nigerian army a laughable and caricature the Nigerian Army is making of itself, we will continue doing what we are doing which is peaceful agitation for Biafra freedom.
“Whatever be the case Nigerian Army has no right or power to labelling IPOB a terrorist group whiles the case still in the court. It is the duty of Nigerian court to decide the case between the Nigerian government and IPOB under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu

CrimeJTF Rescues Abducted Soldiers, Four Civilians From Kidnappers In Rivers by Mrrationalshop(op): 9:19pm On Sep 21, 2017
Troops of the Joint Military Task Force in the Niger Delta, code-named Operation Delta Safe, have rescued two abducted soldiers and four civilians from a kidnappers’ den.
The troops said they also discovered human skulls and bones during the raid of the kidnappers’ camp in Rivers State.
The Coordinator, Joint Media Campaign Centre, OPDS, Major Ibrahim Abdullahi, said in a statement on Thursday that their operation followed a report of kidnap of two soldiers while on transit for banking services in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers.
The spokesman said when the suspected militants/cultists sighted troops approaching their den, they engaged the troops in a gun battle.
Abdullahi said, ”On September 18, 2017, about 7:30 am, OPDS headquarters received a report of kidnap of two soldiers while on transit for banking services in One LGA, Rivers State.
“Troops were immediately mobilised, swung into action and discovered a militant camp with several shrines in a forest at Obiozimini community in Rivers State.
“On approaching there, the suspected kidnappers opened fire on the troops who subsequently engaged them with superior fire power, leading to casualties on the side of suspected kidnappers while others escaped with various degrees of gunshot wounds into an adjoining forest.
“The operation successfully rescued the two abducted personnel. Further search of the camp site led to the rescue of four more civilians that were earlier kidnapped, including a lady.”
He said items discovered in the camp and shrines were three pump action guns, eight empty cartridges, human skulls and some bones.
Abdullahi said the camp and shrines were subsequently destroyed, while the rescued victims were evacuated to one of their medical facilities in the area.

PoliticsHow PDP Will Dethrone APC In 2019 – Makarfi by Mrrationalshop(op): 7:47pm On Sep 19, 2017
Ahmed Makarfi, Chairman of the caretaker committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has assured Nigerians that the party will defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019.
He said a starting point to returning to Aso Rock in 2019, was to ensure that its elective convention scheduled for December was transparent and fair.
Makarfi said after that, the PDP must come out of that convention strong and united, expressing confidence that this will spoil the party for APC in the next general polls.
He spoke when he received a delegation of former National Working Committee of the party on Tuesday in Abuja.
His words: “When we were in the Supreme Court, we were in the `intensive care unit’.
“When they bring you out of the unit, they put you under observation before they take you to a general ward.
“So now, we are in a general observation, that is the convention, and after that, the nomination processes for the elections will be the final.
“If we get all these processes right, there is no reason why the PDP will not be in power at the centre in 2019.
“Together, I am confident we will get there. The fact that we stumbled here and there does not mean we don’t have the capacity to rise again.
“Power is transient, it is like sleep, you wake up and it is no longer there.
“When you are in a position, be guided by a sense of fairness, justice and equity and you will be able to sleep well.
“You can’t satisfy everybody but if you are convinced and it is obvious that you gave your best, I tell you, you’ll remain standing and strong.
“That is what leadership at all levels is all about, whether it is political party leadership, legislative or executive.
“We should remember that one day, it can be us and at other times, it can be other people. Respect is reciprocal and it flows.”

PoliticsWhy I Can’t Dethrone Nnamdi Kanu’s Father – Governor Ikpeazu by Mrrationalshop(op): 7:23pm On Sep 19, 2017
Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has said there is a clear division between the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu and his father, who is the traditional ruler of Afarakwu community in Abia.
Ikpeazu stated this while taking questions from State House correspondents, after a meeting with Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday.
The reporters had asked him to react to the demand of a youth group seeking the dethronement of the father of the Biafra agitator.
“I clearly separate Kanu from his father. The processes of handling traditional institutions are enshrined in the laws of our land.
“And traditional rulers who are members of our constituency have the leadership they will do the needful at the appropriate time. But for me, I think there is a clear division between Nnamdi Kanu and his father,” he said.
Assuring residents of his state of their safety, Ikpeazu said the economy of Abia would suffer if “if we make our kitchen the theater of Biafra”.
“Nigerians know that for some time now that this group called IPOB was agitating for a separate nation called Biafra and that the home state of the leader of that group happens to be Abia state,” he said.
“As expected, when such things happen there is an interface between some members of that group and the military, and the theater was Abia state. And some people attempted to hijack that event to conflagrate our country.
“To the glory of God the rest is history, we are still working to stabilise the fragile peace in the region. I thank God also for the instruments he used to be able to keep our country as one. We are humbled by the privileges.
“I will continue to protect the lives and property of my brothers and sisters irrespective of where they come from. You know that the mainstay of our economy in Abia state is trade and commerce and I do not think it will augur well for our economy,”‎ he added.

Politics2019: APC Must Be Chased Out Of Power To Save Nigeria – Breakforth Onwunbuya by Mrrationalshop(op): 10:19am On Sep 19, 2017
The National Coordinator, Freedom and Justice Movement (FJM), Dr. Breakforth Onwunbuya, has warned that if power was not taken from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019, there would no longer be Nigeria afterwards.
He said, the way the economy was being run, it could lead to mass exodus of Nigerians out of the country.
Onwunbuya, who is the immediate past Deputy National Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), handed this warning on Monday, during the meeting of stakeholders of the proposed Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) in Abuja.
He said the recent announcement that Nigeria had exited recession was a mere political propaganda aimed at deceiving Nigerians, stressing, “it has no atom of effect on the lives of common man on the street, even on the foodstuffs, materials and services”.
He said Nigerians were currently in bondage and tears, deprived of justice and suffering in the midst of abundance human and natural resources, which had led the youths into armed robbery, prostitution and brain drift.
To get out of the current quagmire, Onwunbuya said the solution was not in the APC nor in the PDP, which he said had failed the country.
He said, the formation of FJP was the best thing that would ever happen to the country, boasting that, the new party would form merger with other strong parties, “to rescue and deliver Nigeria and Nigerians out of this eminent collapse”.
He said the new party would also awake and steer good governance and promote rule of law, justice and freedom for all, while also eradicating poverty.
To ensure the emergence of credible leaders ahead of 2019, the National Coordinator said the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) had given the green light for the party to be registered, saying the group had already met the requirement set out by the umpire.
With membership spread across the 36 states and 774 local government areas in Nigeria, the party promised to unseat President Muhammad Buhari and other APC office holders across the country, come 2019.

CrimeAgain, Kidnappers Strike In Ondo, Abduct Five Passengers by Mrrationalshop(op): 10:41pm On Sep 17, 2017
Barely a week after a groom, his bride and their friends were kidnapped in Ondo state, five travellers have again been abducted in Oba-Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the victims were travelling from Lagos to Abuja in a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) but abducted by gunmen when they got to Ondo state.
Three of the new kidnap victims were said to have been rescued by the Ondo State Police Command on Saturday.
Also, the groom who were abducted penultimate Sunday at Akunnu town in Akoko North-East Local Government Area of the state has reportedly regained his freedom.
Femi Joseph, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, said policemen were drafted to the scene of the abduction after being informed about the activities of the kidnappers and they were able to rescue the victims.
“We were able to rescue Moses Yakubu and Mark Shaibu who were kidnapped while going for a wedding ceremony last week. We also rescued three female victims who were kidnapped last Friday on the way to Abuja.
“Efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining victims and we are closing in on the kidnappers. We are going to get them very soon,” Joseph said.

PoliticsBiafra: Southeast Governors Beg Buhari To Withdraw Soldiers by Mrrationalshop(op): 5:05pm On Sep 16, 2017
South East Governors have appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to withdraw the military from the zone, to allow police perform their traditional role of maintaining law and order.
The southeast governors, under the chairmanship of Engr. Nweze Dave Umahi, governor of Ebonyi State, reiterated the proscription of all activities of the IPOB and urged the group and all other aggrieved groups to articulate their position on all national issues and submit to the Committee of Governors, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and National Assembly members from the South-East Zone.
A statement from the southeast governors, shortly after their emergency meeting on Saturday in Enugu, said they have taken concrete steps to protect lives and properties of indigenes and non indigenes in the region.
It reads: “We are in touch with the Northern Governors Forum they have assured us of the safety of all our people living in the north and we have also planned to exchange of visits between the Governors and to re-enforce the confidence of Nigerians in this respect.
“In keeping with our earlier position, we wish to assure Nigerians that full investigation is ongoing on all allegations of killings, maiming and other unlawful conduct in the South-East Zone within this period. The Governors and the security agencies are in agreement that appropriate action will be taken against anyone found culpable.
“South-East Governors Forum, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and National Assembly Members do hereby reinforce their commitment to a united and indivisible Nigeria.
“We also reinforce our desire for the restructuring of Nigeria where all national issues will be discussed and amicably settled to achieve justice and fairness to every Nigerian.
“We advice all residents of the South East to go about their normal businesses as Government of each state is committed to protecting everybody”.

PoliticsAPC Reveals 12 Issues To Be Discussed At Public Hearing On Restructuring by Mrrationalshop(op): 4:54pm On Sep 16, 2017
The All Progressives Congress
(APC)
Committee on True Federalism has said it will consider 12 issues as it sets out on its assignment.

The committee
is chaired by the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai.

The committee said will also consult the report of the 2005 Political Reforms Conference, the 2014 National Conference and reports of previous national conferences in its assignment to determine the party’s position on restructuring.

Secretary of the Committee, Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi,
revealed the 12-point agenda at a news conference in Abuja
.

The briefing was also attended by
the Director-General of the Progressives Governors Forum, Salihu Mohammed Lukman.

Public hearing on the assignment begins on Monday in Benin, Edo State; Enugu in Enugu State; and Ibadan, Oyo State
and will end with a meeting with civil society organisations and professional groups in Abuja on October 9.

Adetunmbi said: “Accordingly, and pursuant to its mandate, the Committee met, deliberated and listed out the following issues and called for memoranda from members of the public.

“The 12 issues are: Creation/merger of states and the framework and guidelines for achieving that;

“Derivation principle bordering on what percentage of federal collectible revenue should be given back;

Devolution of powers on what item on the exclusive legislative list should be transferred to the recurrent list and federating units, especially state and community police, prisons;

“Federation Units: Should Nigeria be based on regions or zones or 36-state structure
;

Fiscal federalism and revenue allocation;

“Form of government (parliamentary or presidential);

“Independent candidacy;

“Land tenure system;

“Local government autonomy;

“Power sharing and rotation;

“Resource control; and

“Type of legislature.

“We are expecting inputs from the public on whether or not should Nigeria create more states; should states be merged?

“If so, what should be the framework and guidelines. “What percentage of Federal collectable resources should be given back to their sources, e.g. crude oil, solid minerals, Value Added Tax.”

Adetunmbi said contributions would not be limited to members of the party, but to all Nigerians who have something meaningful to say on the development of the country.

He said: “We must recognise that the work of nation building is an ongoing process in which every stakeholder has a role to play, by making his own contribution.

“In this case, the APC as a national political party is an institution and a stakeholder that has a role to play in making its own contribution.

This exercise is its own way of making that contribution.

“The APC felt that it is not necessary to think alone among ourselves, but to also ask members of the public what they think.

“That is why everything this Committee is doing is not about its own opinion, but harvesting the opinion of the ordinary people in order to form an opinion.

After all, no political party exists just by itself, but by the mandate of people.

“In this regard, we have put up an announcement calling on members of the public to submit memorandum and meet us at designated venues without any discrimination.

“So, it is an open invitation to all Nigerians to attend and make their views and voices to count.”

On whether the work of the committee will not clash with the public hearing on the same issue being planned by the Northern States Governors Forum, Adetunmbi said
it won’t.

“The Northern Governors Forum members are stakeholders in the development of Nigeria and they have every right to consult people on the future of Nigeria.

There is no monopoly of ideas.

“The party felt that in view of the ongoing discussion across the country on the state of federalism, it is good for the party to understand exactly what its role is and what its definition of the issues are and, in doing so, the party felt in its wisdom that public consultation is necessary and that is what we are doing.

“That does not foreclose any other body within the country to do its own work.
That is why the South West just consulted and put something in the public domain.

“That is a body of information and knowledge from which ideas can be gathered in the best interest of the country.”

Adetunmbi also dismissed the possibility of the work of the committee clashing with the legislative functions of the National Assembly, which has constitutional mandate on restructuring.

“The issue of conflict with the National Assembly does not arise because this exercise is not trying to make laws but to understand what the popular demand of the people is which the party can use to advocate within its members in the National Assembly for necessary constitutional amendment. Constitutional amendment is not one in a life time opportunity, but once in every four years.

“So, the fact that the National Assembly is going through a process does not foreclose public discussion and debate on what should happen, what needs to change and there is always a time table and an opportunity in future to take such ideas and turn them into necessary laws by the National Assembly.

“If the issue of referendum comes out as responses from our consultations, it will surely be reported.

This is a subject which the committee itself has no opinion. We are not canvassing any opinion as a committee.

PoliticsWhat NCC Is Doing To Find Solutions To Issues Facing Current Govt – Danbatta by Mrrationalshop(op): 2:06pm On Sep 14, 2017
The Nigerian Communications Communication, NCC, on Wednesday declared that it is partnering with the “academia” in order to address telecommunication problems and other “societal issues” confronting the President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.
NCC’s Executive Vice Chairman, Umar Garba Danbatta made the declaration while inaugurating an Inter-agency Committee for the Evaluation of 2017 research proposal from the academia yesterday and was contained in a statement sent to DAILY POST.
Danbatta disclosed that the Commission chose to partner with the Academia in research activities that can “impact on business and society.”
The NCC Executive Vice Chairman assured of the Commission’s support especially in the area of research works with Nigerian Universities.
The statement reads in part, “It is my pleasure to welcome you to this ceremony this morning and to thank you for agreeing to work with us on a programme that is vital to the telecommunications industry and also very valuable to the academic community by way of adding value to research output. Finding local solutions to the challenges of the industry is a policy that is very dear to us and this is very much in tandem with the policy of the Buhari administration for Nigerians to rise up and find enduring solutions to the challenges facing the country.
“Our choice has been to deliberately utilize the capacity resident in the academia and to redirect it towards getting involved in research activities that can impact on business and society leading to the development of new products and services for the entire industry.
“We are also of the strong opinion that for an industry that has recorded globally appreciable growth over the years, contributing an average of 9 per cent to the country’s GDP, the sector has capacity to contribute to the expansion of knowledge in the academia and consequently profit from such contribution.
“This gathering underlines the importance of the foregoing, and to point a way to the direction we are headed. In my communications with Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities and in our recent Stakeholders Consultative Forum with Academia which held in Abuja here in the month of July, I have had to point out some recent developments in the Commission which include: creating a Department of Research and Development to consolidate all research activities.
“That means research activities will attract priority attention going forward. It should be very evident therefore that although the Commission’s engagement with academia has been on for a couple of years, a fresh impetus has thus been added to ensure that such an engagement becomes very robust, productive and beneficial to the various stakeholders.
“Are we on the right track? The enthusiastic attendance of Vice Chancellors drawn from 61 universities across the country on the advice of the National Universities Commission (NUC), and the frank discussions and contributions at our Stakeholders Forum with Academia, constantly reminds me that we are on the right track. For a whole day, we all discussed the overriding importance of the much expected relationship between the gown and industry and how best to appropriate the products of that relationship.
“I have also been informed that we have a record response to our advert requesting for research proposals from the Academia this year. At the close of entry on July 31, we had 96 submissions, 40 more than the 56 that was recorded the previous year. I am excited at the diversity of the research topics, from core telecommunications issues to oil pipeline protection and herdsmen tracking. Telecommunications is a super infrastructure industry that addresses the concerns of other industries or put differently that facilitates growth and development of other industries. Our goal is to be able to use this intervention to address industry problems as well as some other societal issues that need urgent attention.
“Coming from the academia, I am in a position to inform this Committee that you have your job cut out for you, and it’s quite a huge one. The reason being that as the research proposals increase so also is the number of documents that you have to go through. The other reason is that we want to give every entry a fair opportunity in the contest, meaning that the Committee members will be challenged to go through every document in order to achieve a very fair assessment of every submission.”

The Military has begun an enquiry into allegations of torture of civilians by soldiers on Operation Python Dannce in Abia State. It said that any soldier found to have involved himself in such untoward activities would be dealt with in accordance with military law.
.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Deputy Director, Public Relations, 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Col Sagir Musa in Enugu this morning.
The statement entitled, “VIDEO CLIP OF ALLEGED HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS TRENDING ON SOCIAL MEDIA IS BEING INVESTIGATED.” read, “The attention of the Headquarters 82 Division Nigerian Army has been drawn to a video clip trending on social media and other platforms purportedly showing troops humiliating some people at a check point in Abia State, Nigeria.
“The issue is being investigated with the view to ascertain the source and the actors in the clip. Our Code of Conduct and Rules of Engagement are quite clear and any officer or soldier that infringed on any of such directive if found guilty, will face full wrath of the military justice system.
“We would like inform the public that 82 Division is also aware of the planned misinformation and propaganda arrangement by the secessionists Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). They intend to churn out prerecorded video clips aimed at discrediting the Nigerian Army, causing disaffection among the citizens of this country. They will be using bogus, manipulated and photo-shopped photographs as well as video clips. The public should be wary of such mischief, scrutinize and report same to the Nigerian Army or any of security agencies.
“The Division wishes to reassure the public that it is determined to ensuring the safety of lives and properties in its area of operational responsibility, particularly the entire South East geo-political zone as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Northern leaders called for calm
while commending Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for imposing a dusk to dawn curfew in the state.

A statement by
ACF
publicity secretary, Mohammed Ibrahim Biu

to
pursue their cause within the confines of the law.

“The attention of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has been drawn to the allegedly reported clashes between troops of the Nigerian Army while on Operation Python Dance11 and members of Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) in Aba, Abia State'', it read.

PoliticsRe: Biafra: What Nnamdi Kanu Is Trying To Do To Buhari – Arewa Youths by Mrrationalshop(op): 7:14pm On Sep 13, 2017

PoliticsBiafra: What Nnamdi Kanu Is Trying To Do To Buhari – Arewa Youths by Mrrationalshop(op): 7:04pm On Sep 13, 2017
The northern youths’ group called Arewa Youths, under the aegis of the Northern Youth Coalition, has claimed that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, is trying to destabilize President Muhammadu Buhari’s government before 2019.

The group also urged all Northerners living in any part of Nigeria, to ignore any agitation, as IPOB’s aim is to provoke reactions or reprisal attacks.

Spokesman of the group, AbdulAziz Suleiman, alongside other leaders such as Yarima Shatima and Mastura Sharif gave the statement in Kano on Wednesday, during a press conference at the Nigerian Union of Journalists’ Press Centre.

According to the group, “all the violent activities playing out are well planned to escalate by 2019, and starting from 2018 to prevent a successful conduct of elections and eventually the collapse of this Buhari government and democracy in Nigeria.

“In this situation, it is essential that the north and northerners remain restrained and refuse to be provoked into reprisals which is the ultimate hope of the conflict instigators.

“The agitations and disturbances that have been ongoing ceaselessly since the coming of Buhari/Osibanjo administration are aimed at rendering the country practically ungovernable and ushering in of anarchy and instability, thereby occasioning a change of government by whatever means.

“And the singling out of Buhari for attacks is a tactics to cause inter-regional crisis possibly leading to general unrest.”

PoliticsWhy President Buhari Sent Soldiers To Assassinate me -Nnandi Kanu Reveals by Mrrationalshop(op):
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has alleged that the soldiers who held him hostage in his house were acting on the order of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Kanu claimed that Buhari gave the “Hausa, Fulani” soldiers’ order to assassinate him because he “strongly believes” and fight for the “liberation of Biafran people.”
Speaking through IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, in a statement sent to DAILY POST, Kanu claimed that the Nigerian Army in a bid to perfect the assassination plot had attacked his convoy at “Ubakala junction on his way for an official assignment.”
The statement reads, “We the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) and it’s leadership worldwide under the command and leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu the director Radio and Biafra television wish to bring to the attention of well-meaning Nigerians and the entire world that Nigeria Government led by Major General Muhammadu Buhari and his core Hausa fulani dominated jihadist army and Police in Nigerian uniforms have been drafted to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s house in Afaraukwu Ibeku Umuahia Abia State.
“The jihadist soldiers in Nigerian Army and Police uniforms surrounded our leader’s house today been 12th September 2017 with the instructions from Major General Muhammadu Buhari and those cabals in Aso Rock to assassinate Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and other IPOB members who strongly believe and fight in the struggle for the liberation of Biafran people.
“Right now, there is much tensions in Umuahia, the home town of Mazi Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The Nigerian federal high in collaboration with the federal government of Nigeria led by Major General Muhammadu Buhari seized Kanu’s traveling documents because they wanted to kill him in Nigeria, this they have shown. But the killing of unarmed civilians in Biafra including Mazi Nnamdi Kanu must not be accepted by Biafrans both home and in diaspora.
“The Nigerian soldiers drafted to Biafra to assassinate Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and other members of IPOB mainly came from the core North of Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebby, Gigawa, Kano, Kaduna and Kastina states. On 10th September been Sunday the Nigerian Army killed our members in Umuahia, yesterday been Monday 11th of September 2017 the jihadist soldiers in Nigerian Army uniform attacked Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s convoy at Ubakala junction on his way going for an official assignment. The Nigerian Army fired live bullets at his vehicle including his convoy.”
The statement said the Operation Python Dance exercise had turned the once peace region of South East into a dangerous zone.
This was as IPOB claimed that Buhari ordered soldiers under the exercise to harass and intimidate Igbos donning Biafra insignias.
“It’s a pity that in a democratic setting like this one in Nigeria can turn South Eastern Region into a war. Precisely the peaceful area of Ubakala junction, Isi Gate and Ibeku Nnamdi Kanu’s home town has become a dangerous zone since the declaration of infamous OPERATION PYTHON DANCE in the south East.
“We are on the know that Hausa-Fulani jihadist terrorists in Nigerian military uniform and regalia were sent by Major General Muhammadu to intimidate, harass and kill Biafrans in large numbers and not to fight kidnappers, armed robbers and cultists.
“The Operation Python Dance 11 are now seriously embarking on forceful abduction of Biafrans, brutalizing any anybody seen with Biafra insignia whether it is in your vehicle or houses. IPOB is putting the world on notice that the Nigerian Hausa-Fulani dominated government in a well organised plan to kill our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and Biafrans through the lunching of OPERATION PYTHON DANCE 11 in the south Eastern part of Nigeria.
“These plots to assassinate our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in a broad daylight will trigger a catastrophic situation in Nigeria and parts of Nigeria, if they succeed in their evil plots,” the statement added.

EducationWe Must Be Consulted Before Another ASUU Strike – NANS Warns Lecturers by Mrrationalshop(op): 9:31am On Sep 12, 2017
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has warned university teachers against embarking on another strike without prior notice.
NANS also tasked the federal government to channel the money it claimed to have recovered from those who looted the country’s treasury to the education sector, saying such measures would reposition the deteriorating state of the nation’s education.
This was contained in a statement released by NANS President, Chinonso Obasi, yesterday in Abuja.
Obasi said the decision was a fallout of the association’s just concluded emergency Senate meeting, held at the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin.
“The meeting which was summoned to deliberate on the ongoing strike declared by ASUU ended successfully with an overwhelming attendance of student union Presidents and NANS stakeholders throughout the country.
“NANS mandated its leaders to reach out to the Federal Government to find a lasting solution to the enormous challenges facing Nigerian students,” the statement said.
It added: “As critical stakeholders in the education sector, it is imperative that ASUU consults NANS. Anytime ASUU wants to embark on strike, it is proper for them to consult student leaders led by NANS. ASUU should also apply other means of negotiation so that the strike will not have a direct negative impact on the students.
“ASUU has been striking to use students as their bargaining power. The interest of students must be considered and prioritized at all times. Part of the resolution was that an appeal should be made to the Federal Government to channel the loots recovered from anti-graft agencies to the education sector.”
It further added:”The Senate also passed a vote of confidence on its President for his style of leadership that has regained the lost voice of Nigerian students both at home and in the diaspora.
“It was also resolved that the National President of NANS should continue to constructively engage with the stakeholders comprising ASUU and the Federal Government to resolve the strike and find a lasting solution to the enormous challenges facing Nigerian students.
“The meeting also called on the Federal Government to prioritise the education sector in Nigeria and push for the recommendation by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation that 26 per cent of the nation’s annual budget should be for funding the education sector and secure a better and sustainable educational standard.
“NANS however refused to shut down the country on account of government’s inability to resolve the ongoing strike, within 21 days, citing the prevailing economic downturn in the country.”

Politics2019: Nigerians Will Decide If Buhari Will Run For Second Term – BSO by Mrrationalshop(op): 9:21am On Sep 12, 2017
The Buhari Support Organisation (BSO) has stated that only Nigerians have the power to decide whether President Muhammad Buhari should vie for second term or not.
BSO noted that it was Nigerians that brought Buhari back into the country’s mainstream politics after he (Buhari) had decided to quit Nigerian politics in 2011 and the same Nigerians would decide his faith in 2019.
According to the new national chairman of the organization, Alhaji Umar Shuaibu, it was too early to start talking about 2019 presidential election.
He said, “If you look at the past, even prior to 2015 general election, Mr. President said he was not going to contest after the 2011 election. But so many Nigerians, including me, agitated and urged him to remain in Nigerian politics.
“So, his second term bid is not going to be his personal decision. It is going to be the decision of Nigerians. And there is still time for that, because we are still in 2017, not in 2018 or 2019.”
Shuaibu, described as unfortunate, the comment accredited to a serving minister on the second-term bid of Mr. President and wondered why the minister had decided to overheat the politics at this time.
“As a serving minister she is supposed to be working and not to start campaigning. Why has she decided to overheat the politics now? I have never seen somebody inside a government, campaigning for somebody outside.‎
“You see so many people came into this administration from different perspectives.
“Before the 2015 election, there was a phenomenon we called, ‘The Buhari Hurricane’, which swept all dicks and harry, including the scorpions, the snakes, and what have you, into the All Progressives Congress (APC), at that time.
“We know that there are one or two persons who are not supposed to be within the system,”‎ he said.

PoliticsSecurity Operatives Tried To Arrest Me For Singing Biafra Songs -ipob Cripple by Mrrationalshop(op): 8:52am On Sep 12, 2017
A female physically challenged member of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) Anthonia Nwizu has recounted how some security operatives tried to arrest her for singing and recording Biafra songs.
Anthonia, a native of Umuchu in Aguata local government who spoke to RationalTV..com in Afara Ukwu, Umuahia - the hometown of the IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu said the incident which happened in September 2015, cannot stop her determination on her struggle for Biafra.
Anthonia, who is also a gospel artists said she has many songs, some of which are being played on Radio Biafra.
.
She said:"Can you believe that a person like me in this condition managed to compose a song and went to the studio; the zoo police and security came there to arrest me but by the special grace of God I wasn’t there."
.
Speaking on her visit to Kanu all the way from Onitsha about 147 kilometres distance, Anthonia an ardent follower of the IPOB leader said, she was in Umuahia to discuss issues on the Biafra struggle with Kanu.
She said:"I want to welcome our Ohamadike, Ihudike na anyu nma nko, Ogugua 1 of Biafra. I want to see him and tell welcome. I also want to thank Chukwu Okike Abiama for giving us director Nnamdi Kanu."
I came from Onitsha no matter the condition, to welcome Ohamadike, he is one out of a trillion, and nobody is like him.
.
I want to see him face to face and thank him first, then we discuss other issue; how to move our struggle forward and how to restore Baifra.
Biafra is already here, zoo is fallen!
Haven’t you seen my condition, all the president, all the governors, common sickness, common headache, they will travel out to America, UK, leaving the poor masses to die.
Immediately we restore Biafra you cannot see this kind of condition; even if you’re disabled, you’ll have something doing. Biafra is a good nation and a blessed land.
Nnamdi Kanu, God sent him ; God called Nnamdi Kanu like Jeremiah to restore this very Biafra,"Anthonia said.
.
She also called on all members of the IPOB to remain steadfast and work together for the actualization of their struggle.
She also urged members of the group to shun envy and jealousy, stating that it will hinder the struggle for Biafra.
.
Fani-Kayode also urged the IPOB leader to operate peacefully in his struggle and shun any efforts by the federal government to push him into armed struggle.
