For the pack to drop that fast, Battery capacity is gone. Marykhay: Happy Sunday my people. Thanks for all your inputs on my predicament so far.
Like someone advised that I should charge the battery full today and measure each cells of my system. Here are the results below. It is worth noting that immediately it hit the 14.6V mark on load it went down to 13.9V:
Battery 0 -> Battery 1 = 3.51V
Battery 1 -> Battery 2 = 3.49V
Battery 2 -> Battery 3= 3.49V
Battery 3 -> Battery 4 = 3..49V
The problem, like I mentioned earlier, was that the 768Wh 12.8V capacity does not even get to half of what it should be.
More Context: I use 3 units of a 180Watts Panels running on a 60Amps PWM controller, and a Sachet inverter.
Further Context In just about 10mins under a load of about 40Watts it drops down to 13.1V which I always feel is not normal, but hey, that’s why I’m here.
So pls house what could be wrong the system? Thanks in anticipation.

No vex chief, I am not that frequent on the forum. Marykhay: Good morning Chiefs,
I’m having a head start with my issue.
With regards to this system I posted earlier, these are the readings I got from the 4S configuration using the BMS connection the builder did:
Battery 0 -> Battery 1 = 3.18V
Battery 1 -> Battery 2 = 3.18V
Battery 2 -> Battery 3= 3.18V
Battery 3 -> Battery 4 = 3.2V
The problem, like I mentioned earlier, was that the 768Wh 12.8V capacity does not even get to half of what it should be. I guess this result is giving me a conclusion already.
But I need to hear from experienced builders: @dollarnaira @Mrreed (you no even dey reason my matter 😭) @Valto (Senior man, at least say anything) @capnies
Please what do you think is wrong with this system? A. Weak or refurbished cells? B. Unbalanced cells (I don’t know if the imbalance in the reading is negligible) causing the system to not reach its complete capacity? |

Chief, let me help. Pack builders build with what is available. You will most likely buy from what your supplier have in abundance and can guarantee it's durability. See Deriy for instance, they have used hithium, Eve, CALB, Rjtech, Tianeng and many more. As for Gotion, there are reports that the battery bulges quickly and data from the report also suggested that they are not closely matched. This is similar for Gangfeng too. capnies: @VALTO WHY DON'T YOU USE GOTION CELLS FOR TOU DIY PACKS |

Also, I have noticed that 5kwh battery from valto is almost same price with 8kwh by Mr Reed. I will appreciate if those who are experienced can explain the extra benefits of valto's battery.
Lastly, please, can I see your 8kwh battery @mrreed

Yes, it works well on very low load, like a few LED Bulbs and Phone chargers and Router and fans even if l shut down everything and put on say a Cooker or Freezer or anything above 1Kw, it simple trips off and display fault error. |

Only that they are slower. If you have used the infrared or induction cooker, you will agree. justasitis: From experience those hot plates attached to cooking gases are also energy efficient as they can be regulated to reduce power consumptions. The hot plate on my gas’s cooker consumes 1kw at maximum and 200w at lowest. Induction cooker also has regulators to control power consumptions but may require special cooking pot to achieve optimum temperature. |

A rabbit hole it is and I am sure he has learnt a few things from it. Sellers with no reputation can do this if they sense naivety. There is also possibility of honest mistake too. Most of those sellers with Shenzhen addresses share warehouse with other sellers in Dongguan. Many of them will probably forward your shipping Mark to actual stock owners to ship on their behalf . If after random test, the cells manage to pull full capacity, alhamdulillah. mctfopt: Chinese lithium battery market is crazy.
Loads of shady deals going on there.
If you have a good supplier hold am tight.
The rabbit hole is sure very deep.
My guy bought 250 pieces of 100AH supposedly new cells. Cells arrive and it's used cells with a new cell wrap. Supplier is saying they are not aware. Case still ongoing.
DIY is still king. Can't have it any other way. |

Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Mrreed(m): 4:47pm On Aug 27, 2025 |
It's also important to note that nominal voltage differs based on battery chemistry. Your calculation is only correct for lead acid. For LFP for instance, 12 8v will be 12v, 25.6v for 24 and 51.2v for 48v batteries. BigDickProblems: Always multiply the AH with the voltage off the battery to know the Power/Capacity of the battery.
For example, there are 2 batteries: (a). 300Ah, 24V (b). 200Ah, 48V
Their total power capacity is as follow:
(a). 300Ah, 24V becomes = 300Ah × 24V = 7,200Watthour which is the same as 7.2Kwh
(b). 200Ah, 48V becalmed = 200ah × 48V = 9600Watthour which is the same as 9.6Kwh
Bottom line here is that if you are getting a battery (which I’m assuming you are trying to get), check the Ah and Voltage and multiply both to get the Capacity of the battery. With this knowledge, you can now go back to your first question and figure out the answer and also how confusing it is too 😂. |

That was me assuming you already overstated the load. Even those white double opening freezer with old compressor don't draw 400w continuously. ask4bk: Thanks bro.. With full capacity load of 5000w, you still advice for a 6kva inverter? |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Mrreed(m): 8:02am On Aug 16, 2025 |
6kva inverter is fine The 30kwh battery is fine too. Based on your explanation, 5-6kwpanel should suffice ask4bk: Nna eh. I ask WAEC question, you change am to JAMB question 😁😁🤣.
It'll only replace gen, meaning it's purpose is only to take up those hours when there's no nepa (let's say max 5 hours no nepa - but you can't trust nepa sha). They still intend to use nepa. Forget the fridge watts, u can clearly see it's a mistake. Assume that they'll be powered at same time. Any where could be upgraded any time.
