Bigzig: Op i hope say u no dey borno,or Adamawa as you say make dem police abolish road blocks.Between even armed robbers are looking forward to the result of such request..
Mounting road blocks is not the winning formular for fighting crime and armed robbery. The key issue in an armed robbery attack is swift response and regular patrols. That is what they do in the US. We all see it in movies
It is very effective
PoliticsRe: Open Letter To The Inspector General Of Police On Roadblocks by mrsage(m): 8:25am On Sep 18, 2014
The new IG should learn from history
Road blocks in Nigeria cause more harm than good because of the absense of good intentions on the part of the policemen. Some past IG's have been sent packing because of road block related issues. Remember the ugly incident that happened along otedola bridge just after ojodu berger.
I'm completely against road blocks in Nigeria. Let us learn from developed countries here.

BusinessRe: Transportation Business by mrsage(m): 2:23pm On Sep 14, 2014
Transport business is good but it all depends on ur driver
A driver can make or marr the business. If you can drive yourself better but then you can only drive one car at a time.
Im into transport business too. Cab service. Greatest challenge is getting drivers for expansion.

Op. How about service providers. Can they also make use of your platform?
Then do a lot of work on building TRUST. From my little knowledge, your level of acceptance will be determined by how much the businesses and buyers trust you.
Someone mentioned earlier get a well respected business or public figure to be a member of the board. Also partner with reputable institutions. Banks. Insurance companies. Lawyers too
A reputable lawyer will help
Rember money can evoke a lot of emotions.

EntertainmentShare Your Experience With Taxis Or Cabs. Good, Bad Or Ugly by mrsage(op): 10:41pm On Dec 15, 2013
I'm sure we all know what a taxi is and we have been in a taxi or cab at one time or the other. We generally take short trips in taxis just to move round town.
A good number of taxi drivers are regarded as "old men". Some have very old cars, some of them get very cranky when they get caught up in traffic.

Some of them are good at telling stories. And some are just rude and unfriendly.

I'm sure some of us have had interesting encounters.
Let's share it. Whatever it is share with the house. Good, bad or ugly. It could even be a safety tip or whatever.

Let's keep the ball rolling
Car TalkHow To Stay Safe In A Taxi. by mrsage(op): 5:26am On Dec 14, 2013
If you use public transport to get to and from work or to social events you should be particularly careful at this time of year. Police warn that trains, buses and even taxis are crime hotspots. But there are many simple steps you can take to prevent falling victim to crime on public transport this season. Here s the Lagos Cab Man's guide to staying safe. Below is advice for staying safe in taxis.
_______________________________________ HOW TO STAY SAFE IN TAXIS • Know the difference between a marked taxi and an unpainted cab. Taxis may all look the same when you've had a few glasses of wine, but there are some very important differences. In fact the only types of taxis that are legally allowed to stop when hailed in the street are the marked taxi's (here in Lagos the colour is yellow with two black stripes. We also have others that carry distinct colours with the name of the cab company written on it like : metro taxi, red cab etc). All legitimate marked cabs are licensed by the local authorities and have a unique colour. Other taxis are called. Unmarked cabs.

The reality is that marked taxis are not allowed in some certain places especially some residential areas or estates. For some reason, you may prefer to move around in an unmarked cab and this is just fine.

• If using an unmarked cab, always pre-book it. If you intend to take an unmarked cab, take the phone number of a reputable firm you know and trust with you when you go out for the night. If you don't know the number of a reputable firm ask a friend for the number of a firm or individual cab driver they trust.

• Be cautious if you are ordering a cab in a public place. Always remember if you are calling a cab from a public place to make sure that you can not be overheard by strangers as this could give away your address. To be extra secure, when you are ordering a cab to pick you up from a public place do not give your full name and full address - just in case someone can hear you.

• Don't get into an ordered cab until you're sure it's yours. After a night on the tiles it's tempting to jump into your taxi as soon at arrives. But security experts warn that it's easy to get into the wrong cab, even if you take care to order one in advance. Ideally, when you phone for a cab, ask what kind of car is coming to pick you up and the driver's name. When the taxi arrives, before you get into it make sure you ask the driver the name of the customer he or she is there to pick up - rather than giving them your name - and the name of the company they work for. That way you can be sure you are safe and in the right cab.

• Trust your instincts. It's a cliche, but if you don't feel comfortable with the taxi that arrives for you or stops for you then trust your instincts and take another cab.

• Always sit in the back. Safety experts advise women to sit in the back of cabs, rather than in the front seat, as this keeps you at a safe distance from the driver should there be any problems. You will also have two doors to leave the cab from in an emergency rather than one.

• Keep conversation on a professional level. Cab drivers are famous for their tall tales, but the general advice from police to women is to keep conversation with your taxi driver to a strictly professional basis. 'The last thing you want is for the taxi driver to get the impression that you want them to be over familiar,' says a security expert. 'Try to keep the conversation polite but professional and about every day matters rather than personal things.'

• Have your keys ready. When you reach your destination always have your keys ready to get into your house or flat before you get out of the cab. This way you will not be left hanging around in the dark and vulnerable. If you feel safe and trust your driver, you may want to ask him not to leave until he sees you enter your home.

• And finally... Report any problems. If there is a problem with your taxi you should always report the problem to the police - you may help protect future passengers. If you are going to report a problem, try to remember what kind of car it was, the driver's name and registration number and when and where you were travelling.

Feel free to share ideas.

I understand the security concerns, for now, we may exclude the Northern part of Nigeria for obvious reasons known to all.
Then for people who wish to visit Lagos, we have good knowledge of Lagos, roads, traffic situation and all. generally, traffic is usually lighter on sundays, so major visits could be scheduled based on this.
Lagos is also blessed with beaches, wildlife, landmark buildings, entertainment and of course Badagry is a nice place to visit. I'm sure you all agree
A well grounded tour operator will pay attention to every little detail.

CASE STUDY: FREEDOM PARK in LAGOS

The new Freedom Park is located on the site of the colonial prison where prominent Nigerians had their jail terms during the colonial era. The park, which is now a peaceful place for individual and collective contemplation and interaction is open to public daily.

Located in Lagos Island, Lagos, the park is a brainchild of a Lagos-born architect and visionary, Theo Lawson, who had a vision to transform the colonial prison to a symbol of freedom.

This prison was used by the British colonial masters to torture, imprison and hang in the gallows those that opposed colonial rule of Nigeria including Herbert Macaulay, Chief Cbafemi Awolowo, Chief Michael Imodu, Sir Adeyemo Alakija and others.

Freedom Park is a memorial leisure park dedicated to the preserving the Lagos colonial heritage and history of the Old Board Street prison. Today, freedom park provides venues for events and recreational entertainment.

The park provides venues and the grounds for events and recreational entertainment, with relevant facilities like :

Open Air Stage
Amphi-theatre
Pergola Cell (internet booths)
Skeletal Cells
Food Court
Ponds and Fountains
Historical Statues
Museum Complex
Historical displays
Souvenir shops
Resource centre
Court yard
Cells Units
Wole Soyinka Art Gallery

FamilyWill You Take Your Family On A Tour To Visit Historic Sites In Nigeria? by mrsage(op): 8:37am On Dec 04, 2013
As a patriotic Nigerian Entrepreneur from the South Western part of Nigeria, I have noticed a disturbing trend. Most Nigerians do not go for well packaged tours within the country. Some do not even go on vacation at all.

Some individuals especially the so called middle class or upper class prefer to travel abroad from July to September (so called summer period). Local tourist attractions are usually neglected. This trend is driving away a lot of investors.
The fact is the typical Nigerian man or woman is ready to pay for quality service. Some travel and tour operators take advantage of this and organise regular tours (well packaged) to Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, Isreal and some Western countries.
The patronizers are from the upper middle and upper classes that turn up their noses at Nigerian tourist sites whereas the people who need vacation and recreation the most are in the high density areas. (Just pay a visit to LTV8, NTA or TVC premises in December or Bar Beach during the festive period or any beach in Lagos from the 2nd week in December till the last day of December).
We want to package quality, interesting and educative tour packages specifically for the regular Nigerian citizen. The good news is that we have lots of wonderful tourist sites in virtually every state in Nigeria. We plan to take people from Lagos to other states in the South West like Osun state where people can visit a Zoo with exotic animals like Lions, Hyena, Ostrich, Snakes, nice birds etc. From the Zoo, they will visit places like the Palace of the Ooni of Ife, the museum, the Oromiyan site, the lovely Erin Ijesha water falls etc.

We will provide good transportation
We can also have affordable plans for children in Primary and Secondary schools.
Honey moon packages etc also available.
We can also include hotel accomodation, feeding, taxi pick up from your home to the departure point etc. Family package available for convenience.

The concept will be fun, relaxation and royal treatment at an affordable price so we are doing some preliminary market research. Please answer the following questions as truthfully as possible.

1. Would you be willing to visit some states in Yoruba land like: Osun, Oyo, Ondo etc?
2. How much would you be willing to pay for a well packaged tour of 1 or 2days. Weekends only? *Affordable*
3. Will you be willing to visit other historic sites in the East, South South, North etc?
4. We intend to publicize this through social media. Will you willingly follow the exploits and the adventure online?
5. Will you like to book and pay online before the tour or in a physical office or cash to the tour operator just before take off?
6. For those outside Lagos, will you like a well packaged tour to Lagos where u will get a feel of the Lagos life and visit some nice places?

Thank you for your anticipated response. If you have other questions you want to ask please let us know.
Ideas and suggestions also welcome.
