The top scorers should be announced and motivated, the more reason they should announce it earlier is to prevent the spread of misinformation

Education / My Review Of Utme 2024 Utme Mathematics Examination (they Set Sin40°) by Mrshape: 9:12am On Apr 24
On Tuesday morning, April 23rd, 2024, was set for my UTME examination. My center was close to my house, so at 6:20 am, I came out from the house hoping to catch an auto rickshaw . I left with my ATM card, ID card and my JAMB examination photo card. On getting to the junction, I observed there was no auto rickshaw, so I had to run down to the road before I was able to see a vehicle. I appreciated the running because it was an opportunity for me to do some exercise, which people had been advising me to take because of my sedentary nature due to work.

When I got to the center, it was not very crowded as I thought. I proceeded to the queue, and a man asked me if I could have my phone. I said no. After the thumb printing, we went further to the hall to sit down. Although there were not enough chairs the People organizing it were kind enough to release their chairs to students to sit down. I applaud them for that.

As I was about entered the main hall for the computers, it was advocated that ID card and ATM cards was not allowed, that it was part of the rules sent to us, so I had to go down and check for one of my fellow proprietors I saw around and I gave him my items so that I could pick them up when I'm done with the exam. I really appreciated that

I began with English, I was trying to navigate to find where to shortcut to transit it to mathematics, but I was unable to find a way out (maybe I it isa available but I don't know how to navigate it,but I later found out that I can move to the next by selecting the last question of the subject and clicking on next, this was when I was stuffing through the system in my third subject) The computer screen was not as big as I expected, so scrolling up and down was challenging. In the English section, I went to choose Hakini instead of Hakini because I didn't read the novel, I only listen to the audiobook,. I checked it up later, and it was Hakimi not Hakini, I failed that question, so UTME student sould listen and read the novel to be able to identify correct spellings as it is one of the aspect to be tested as outlined out in the English syllabus

Next was physics the physics was ok , *Next Mathematics I did well in this, except for a question asking to find the area of a triangle, given the angle between the two sides 40° which formula was 0.5 * a * b * sin 40°. It was unfortunate that 40° is not part of special angles. I was racking my brain on how to solve this. I know the sine of 30° and sin 60 = 0.8660, The option to the question was have same whole number with only a difference in the second decimal place, . This was the challenge was a challenge to identify the correct option. JAMB should stick to the agreement set questions using special angles only and if they are to go variant the options should be distinct son that a student should obviously be able to choose the correct option with knowledge of special angles and trigonometry graph visualization,
There was a question in my mathematics binary operation using LCM, I applaud JAMB for that question whoever set question is very smart, after solving it I smiled.

After my mathematics I was left with about 12 minutes for chemistry maybe I fell in love with the mathematics questions trying to look at the reason why each questions was set, well it was fun.

When I saw I have just 12 minutes remaining for chemistry I know this is not the time to start calculation in the chemistry I hurried move through the questions to find the ones can easily I identify the answer I click on then why the others I just used possible elimination to choice a possible answer
In total I am expecting
Mathematics around 98±2
English around 85±10
Physics around 89±8
Chemistry around 70±10
Total around 330 to 360

For the record I applied for BCE Mathematics I might go and study the course but I would have prefarerd Mathematics and Artificial intelligence but no school in Nigeria is offering it.

Yes. As it's, only Loyola Jesuit College can comfortably compete with Ambassador College in mathematics wizardry across the top secondary schools in the country. Looking at Ambassador's trajectory, I wonder if they scooped all the math teachers at Loyola grin

Good and qualified mathematics teachers are in abundance in Nigeria what we don't have is good reneumeration and willing and hardworking students and families which is support the students in their learning.

But due to the structure of the ambassador's college lazy students and unserious parents can't find themselves there

The ambassador's college, we will catch up with you soon in mathematics, keep on the fire, this is the result you get when a science person owns a school, my students are training they will meet up with yours and pass them, keep up the good work you are a motivation to those you don't know, this is the result you obtain when you employ 1 qualified mathematics teacher to every 15 students.

Education / An Answer To The Exam Question On Fake Testimony by Mrshape: 10:13pm On Apr 18
Answer to question no 4
(i) The scenario described falls under the area of defamation or slander. Defamation occurs when someone makes a false statement about another person that harms their reputation. In this case, the pastor's statement accusing Mrs. Benson of lying about her academic qualifications in front of the congregation could be considered defamatory if it is proven false and damages her reputation.

(ii) To succeed in a court of law in a defamation case, Mrs. Benson would typically need to prove the following elements:

1. Publication:The false statement was made in a public setting, such as during the Sunday service where the congregation was present.
2. Identification: Mrs. Benson must establish that the statement was about her and that the pastor's words were directed at her specifically.
3. Falsity:She needs to prove that the pastor's statement accusing her of lying about her academic qualification is false. Since her LL.B. degree is indeed referred to as a BSc. in Law on the university's website, this element can be satisfied.
4. Harm: Mrs. Benson must demonstrate that the false statement caused harm to her reputation. This could include damage to her standing within the church community or any other tangible harm resulting from the pastor's accusation.
5. Fault: Depending on the jurisdiction, Mrs. Benson may need to prove that the pastor acted with negligence or actual malice when making the false statement. Actual malice typically requires showing that the statement was made with knowledge of its falsity or reckless disregard for the truth.

If Mrs. Benson can successfully establish these elements, she may be able to recover damages for the harm caused to her reputation.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Help! My Marriage Of Three Months About To Collapse. by Mrshape: 7:43am On Dec 14, 2023
Skillsmaster:
Good day nairalanders. Please come to my rescue. I will be brief as possible. Please ignore any grammatical or spelling error.
I lost my job (teaching job) two months to my wedding. About 10-15 of us lost our job in this same school, because of the economy of the country. I couldn't get any job after then, so I decided that I will postpone my wedding because of this but everyone except my younger brother kicked against it including my wife. I continued with the wedding plan believing that everything will fall in place soon. This is three months after my wedding, still no job. My wife has tried a lot, she has a shop and she has been very helpful all these while and I use to appreciate her for that. But of recent she started behaving somehow, which shows that she is tired of the situation and I am also tired of the situation. My wife told me that she can no longer continue like this. I was surprised because this is the same woman that was so angry when I told her about my plan to postpone the wedding. To be honest with you people, she has tried, I must commend her.
On my own side, I have searched for job to no avail, both teaching and non teaching. I reside in Abuja, I and one of my friends have trekked on many occasions submitting my own CV. Yet no call for interview. I am a mathematics teacher, before my marriage, I can't submit my CV in three to four schools without getting any invite for interview from two or all of them. But it is the opposite now.
I tried to get capital to even start a poultry farm because I am also good at that, but I couldn't get any. My wife is already "threatening the marriage" asking me to bring money which she knows that I don't have. She told me that she regrets this marriage and just saying all sort of things. She knows that I am not lazy. Even to get labourer work on site is not easy. I will stop here.

I am sorry for bothering you with this long write up. You can say anything you want to say but I will appreciate it if you can help out with a job. I want to have my home back. Thank you.

Note: I studied engineering. I worked as a site engineer for like two years before going into teaching.
Are you in Nigeria teachers group? As a mathemaics teacher you don't need to be searching for Job at all, if you place an advert in that group you will get more than 20 Mathemaics Job offer for you some will even be pleading with you that they will provide accommodation, before the end of Today, people are looking for mathemaics teachers unless you are not very good in the mathemaics, if you I can test your ability on mathemaics and see you are more than average I can advertise you in school owners forum na you go day confuse on which Job you go choose
