JAMB UTME registration is closing soon, and WAEC registration for SSCE has ended. However, WAEC has refused to release the 2025 2nd series examination results done with CBT after 60 days, which is unusual. Many students need this result to enroll in UTME.

Many secondary students are waiting for their results to decide whether to take WAEC SSCE if they couldn't make an important subject in the GCE. Unfortunately, WAEC SSCE registration has ended. Some students were unable to get admission into university last year because of JAMB's policy - no SSCE result upload, no admission.

These students were expecting to use the WAEC GCE result, especially those above 35 years old, who can't take the SSCE. It's unfortunate they couldn't take NECO GCE due to timetable clashes with WAEC. Even then, NECO, which started their examination 3 weeks after WAEC, has released their GCE result, and NABTEB has released theirs too.

Do you know the downside of this? Any mature student who fails a major subject in WAEC GCE won't be able to get university admission because there won't be another examination before the admission deadline. The first series for 2026 has passed, and there's no result released for the first series of 2025.

Nigeria's education system is unpredictable. Please let us know if there's any glitch. We won't accept any result that doesn't reflect what the candidate answered. The delay is suspicious.

And WAEC has not released the second series GCE, what a shame on WAEC, the started and finished their examination before NECO, or has another glitch occured?

I write to commend the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for its continuous innovations, especially the introduction of a national ranking system for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates. This bold initiative has greatly improved competitiveness, meritocracy, and transparency in the Nigerian admission process.

However, to further strengthen public trust and promote fairness, I respectfully recommend the following enhancements to the current system:

1. Open Access to Anonymized UTME Data
I propose that JAMB make publicly available anonymized UTME datasets that include:
- Registration numbers (anonymized or coded),
- UTME scores, and
- National and department-specific ranks.
This data should be sortable by university and course, enabling aspirants to compare their performance with others applying to the same department or program. For instance, a student applying for Mechanical Engineering at the University of Benin (UNIBEN) should be able to view scores and rankings of all other applicants to that course.

2. Open and Dynamic Post-UTME Data from Universities
To complement the UTME ranking system, I propose that JAMB mandates all universities to:
- Rank their Post-UTME candidates according to course and department, and
- Make this Post-UTME ranking data openly accessible through their portals or JAMB’s central platform.
Just like UTME data, this ranking should include registration numbers (anonymized), Post-UTME scores, and course-specific ranks, so students can assess where they stand.

3. A Dynamic Admission Ranking System
JAMB’s portal should be made dynamic and responsive. Specifically:
- If a student performs a change of course or change of institution, their name and data should automatically reflect in the new course’s open ranking list.
- Rankings should be updated in real time to ensure accuracy in departmental and institutional cutoffs.
This level of automation ensures that both students and institutions are operating on up-to-date, reliable data for admission decisions.

Benefits of These Recommendations
- Increased Transparency: Students can clearly see where they stand, which builds trust in the system.
- Fairness and Equity: All students are judged on the same open metrics, reducing bias and admission manipulation.
- Data-Driven Decisions: Students, parents, institutions, and policymakers can use these insights for better planning and strategy.
- Fraud Reduction: Public and dynamic rankings reduce the risk of hidden or manipulated admissions.

Conclusion
These reforms are in line with global best practices in educational transparency and public accountability. By making UTME and Post-UTME data both open and dynamic, JAMB and Nigerian universities will set a high standard for integrity and fairness in tertiary education admissions.

JAMB works with a unique identifier called the profile code, and that profile code is assigned to the phone number you have used previously, connected to your NIN. That is the profile code and phone number you will continue to use every year.

This profile code is what I have been using for UTME registration for more than two years now. Please, do check my profile to see why I have been taking the examination before you spill out another ulabalo.

9mobile has been down for two months in Edo State, and JAMB will be releasing its UTME result soon, to be checked by SMS. Which I won't be able to check mine because I used 9mobile sim to register, and I will have to wait for 3 weeks before they will upload it to their website. The inquisitiveness of mine will not allow me to wait that long after many people have been checking their results.

So, I heard that 9mobile is still operating in some states. I don't know how to treat this, but if it is true and you have the information of any close-by states or far-away states, let me travel there to check my result. I have tried to port it, but it can't port; whether they are blocking it, I don't know. Even the NCC and consumer protection and customer protection agencies we have in Nigeria are not saying anything.
