True Talk. It is not flexible at all. There fees is one of the most expensive in Australia if not the most expensive sef. Abeg lookout for other schools.

Stanleyelege:
Pls I will advise anyone coming to Rmit to make sure he or she is loaded.
That school is just like covenant university .

Incasu, the school na big man school .

Students who can't pay up are withdrawn from the school. Them no dey mercy for person

This question is relative. I had a very good job in Nigeria earning almost double of what you are earning. If you can afford your school fees i will say jump. I have not regretted it one bit, i wish i took the leap years ago. As regards the PR, with your qualification you can start processing your PR too. Read up on Australia Pr, ask questions and think of the fastest route for you.

Australia is the greener pastures darling. Hustle is real here but then it will pay off.

Amahjosh:
Please I want to seek advice from nairalanders who are in aussie in big cities like merlbourne and Sydney is it wise for someone to leave a job paying him 180k per month in Naija and go for student visa in Australia with hope of getting PR after his/her masters programme and seek greener pastures..Please I need advice from persons already there I don't want to make any mistake.

frank043:

i will suggest you apply for your assessment with TRA. So as to avoid Engineering Technologist, look for an occupation closely related to your certificate and apply.

Hello bro,
Congrats again on your smooth sailing.

@bellong @sammywemmy
I have a few concerns:
I have an ND, HND and BSc all in civil/structural engineering, with cognate work experience. I can only claim points on work experience with my HND, cos I have 7+yrs post HND experience. The outcome from EA will definitely be an engr tech. I can't claim points on work experience with my BSc, cos I have 2+yrs post BSc experience. If I don't claim points on work experience, I'd have 50points, if I do, I'd end up with engr tech and 65points.

1. What are the implications of getting PR visa under EA's engr tech? I'm really very skeptical about it, reason being that I have a BSc, yet going in as Engr Tech., instead of structural engineer or professional engineer.
2. Can I upgrade my assessment using my BSc for Structural Engineer, after obtaining the visa?
3. What qualification did you tender? Was your EA assessment for qualification and relevant skilled experience or just qualification?

Kindly disregard any typo errors, please.

Thanks.

Thank you very much

OlalekanKad:
This is my own opinion. Go TRA if you can spend the money for another assessment. You can get Electrical Technician with your OND and HND easily without stress. You also do not need to leave out your BSC Certificate, include it there. TRA only considers your minimum qualification for the assessment and all other qualifications are just extra. I had a similar case with you. BSC Mechanical, HND Mechanical and OND Mechanical. Successful EA but EA reduce my years of experience so I spent another money on TRA and TRA outcome came with 9 years of experience. Entered EOI with 70 points and ITA came without stress. So my brother go for a less competitive occupation as I know mates with 70 points on Engineering technologist and yet no ITA till date. So go TRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, your OND and HND is a plus so don't waste it. Also when it comes to visa application, it is not an issue because DIBP already knows you have a BSC and looking inwards, the fact you have a BSC doesn't mean you don't have a skill on a lower level, alot of people are working with their BSC and some already are PHD holders.

Well done to all the gurus in the house. Nairaland is an addiction.

Pls, i need advice and input from all.
Situations:
EA Assessment is done: Engineering Technologist
IELTS first attempt: l/s/r/w 8, 8.5,85,7
IELTS second attempt: l/s/r/w 8.5,8.5,8.5,7.5
IELTS third attempt: booked awaiting result
PTE: no available date in Melbourne till sept
Points acquired now: Age 25 + BEng 15 English 10 points
We are still aiming for the 20 points so we can apply for 189 and 190
Now my question I have Electrical & Electronics HND, ND, City and Guilds certificate, can I go through the TRA route.
1) Why the TRA route because Engineering Technologist now is Pro Rata. For occupations e.g Electrical Engineering Technician, Electrician (General) in TRA with 60 there are still more chances, what do you advise?
2) When applying for TRA we will leave out the BENG certificate I want to know if it won't be a problem when nomination comes or when we need to apply for the visa because already our details are on dibp website already because we are here on a student visa.

what $18 to $60 dollar where
abeg which state
childcare is expensive. Its about $100 to $150 per day 7am to 6pm. When you think about how much you earn daily and how much childcare costs then you will know its not cheap. you will prefer to babysit instead of working. smiley coupled with this weather grin

Cognito79:

Childcare between $18-60/day?

That's not categorised as expensive.. very cheap.

Go ahead and let her apply with your surname. Just get affidavit to swear she is the same person and also newspaper publication.
Azy123:

Hello All,

I have been searching the thread to see if I missed something that can address this situation. I think I have seen it before but I can't find it. So, so sorry about these questions.

I am about to get a new passport for my wife. She does not have one before. Since we got married I have not done change of name and the only document that carries my family name as her surname is her NYSC discharge certificate.

Q1.) Is it advisable to just go ahead and get a new passport in her maiden name to avoid all the wahala as in the quote above?

Q2) Wont using her maiden name cause CO ( when the time comes) to doubt the authenticity of the marriage and start asking for evidence of marriage and waste more time.

Thank you.

Whoever is coming to australia should learn how to drive in Nigeria if you cannot already (learning how to drive in aussie and gettting d permit can cost u up to 300K with d stress n all that bullshits), get ur nigerian drivers license if u dont.... see if you can apply for international drivers license too cuz it will help u. Then if its possible prepare your mind to get a car sooner when you arrive because u will need it for jobs. The public transport system is aussie is not that excellent hence u require a car to meet up wit ur job requirements eapecially if your school is not in the heart of the core citys.

You might also wanna provide yourself with enough clothing and shoes...its pretty expensive here. I mean jeans, trousers, tees, sneaks, shirts etx etc... girls plaiting ur hair is expensive too, u might wanna arm yourselves with enough wigs, twill help u save a bit.
Rep Nigeria well.... be a good person when you arrive aussie. Any other thing i rememebr iwill say. Cheers
Goodluck evryone!!

Been Missing In Action

This is my feedback having spent 7 months, Melbourne, RMIT, Job opportunities.
Melbourne is a good place to be, multicultural et all but then Job opportunities for student and their spouse varies from housekeeping, factory hand and cleaning generally. Last time i checked age care and childcare institutions are not enrolling peeps on student visa.

RMIT, for the new students welcome. I've seen a lot of questions as regards payment of fees, please note that you are expected to pay up your fees after 1 month of resumption thus come prepared ooh,
Also instalment payment is allowed in your 2nd year, you can only access instalment payment in your 2nd yr.

Welldone to all the ogas on this forum that didn't give up. God bless you all, those expecting their grants soon it will land.
