Bonethugss:
Apparently this is where there is contention
6 - 0 + 1,

So using BODMAS literally, you performing the addition operand before the subtraction.
What you need to understand is that there are numerous "order of precedence", while the British recognize BOD MAS, America's and some other European countries use PEMDAS(Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally).
It stands for "Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication and Division, and Addition and Subtraction".
Note, it states addition AND subtraction, the AND means they have equal order of precedence, when working with an equation that has both, you evaluate from LEDT to right, blue the same AND clause with the multiplication AND division.
They both have a clause, you can read this up, when you have a bunch of operands with the same rank YOU EVALUATE FROM LEFT TO RIGHT.
please read it up...

ABUJA—FORMER Military Governor of Kaduna State, Colonel Abubakar Umar (retd) yesterday urgedthe President- elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, retd to be mindful of those he described as mere fair weather friends as he takes over governance in May 29.In a statement issued yesterday, Umar also urged Buhari to ignore what he described as the treacherous actions of those opportunists who were presently dumping the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the All Progressives Congress, APC barely two weeks after the Presidential election. The former military also assured President GoodluckJonathan of his unalloyed loyalty and “steadfast” friendship as he prepares to face life outside power.According to Colonel Umar in his statement, “A famous political scientist once warned that”the career of a politician is too uncertain to make any firm commitment to him. “Although I find this warning immoral and distasteful it truly represents the attitude and behavioural pattern of most of the so called friends and loyalists of men in power. Mostare mere fair weather friends.“Come 29th May 2015 President Jonathan will handover power to the winner of the 28th March 2015 Presidential election Gen Muhammadu Buhari. With this seeming loss of political power he will also lose a large retinue of friends and loyalists; people who would swear by his name a couple of weeks ago. The President like most of his predecessors willsuffer the pain of betrayal.“I however assure him that there are still genuine friends who will be by him through life’s challenges out of power.“I also wish to advise him to ignore the treacherous actions of those opportunists who are decamping from his party, the PDP to APC at this late hour. These are people who will not hesitate to renounce God in their pursuit of ephemeral worldly power. They are worthless and a great embarrassment to decent people and bad role models to future generations.“Let me use this opportunity to dispel the wicked rumour that my closeness with President Jonathan has always been on account of some material favours he extended to me. Nothing can be further from the truth.”I swear and affirm that I have never, directly or indirectly, been awarded an oil or non – oil contract by President Jonathan or his Government , as evidence will prove later. What I received and cherish above all is tremendous respect from the President. I intend to expatiate on this in due course.“Let me also express my respect and admiration for President Jonathan’s nationalistic and altruistic decision to concede and congratulate the winner even before the final results were officially announced. The President behaved like the statesman I have always known him to be, thereby saving the country assured implosion had he behaved otherwise.”

PoliticsSpeaker Aminu Tambuwal, APC Candidacy In Court by mrsuccessful(op): 9:56pm On Apr 02, 2015
ABUJA – The Federal High Court, Abuja Thursday adjourned till April 13, a suit challenging the choice of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal as the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress ,APC.

The case which was filed by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Human Rights, Senator Umaru Dahiru, seeks to stop Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal’s candidature under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Dahiru alleged that the process was flawed and wanted the court to bar the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from listing Tambuwal as governorship candidate on the platform of APC.

Justice Evoh Chukwu however adjourned the case to13 April, 2015 to enable the defendants respond to process served on the plaintiff yesterday morning in court.
Counsel to Tambuwal , Sunday Ameh ,SAN, on why the case was adjourned said his team would require time to go through the processes served on the defendant by the plaintiff yesterday morning in court.
Saying that the plaintiff has employed time wasting strategy, Ameh disclosed that his team is challenging the competence if the court in handling the case.
“There were pending applications to be taken this morning but counsels to the plaintiff served us with some processes this morning that will require our action but we had to apply to the court to give us he opportunity to react to those processes.
“The court granted our application and fixed 13 April,2015 for the hearing of those applications,” he said.
Ameh said the competence of the Federal High Court Abuja to handle the case is being challenged, saying, “The process the plaintiff used in beginning this action of originating summon is not suitable for the kind of claim they have out forward in this court.
“They have allegations of intimidation, treating of delegates malpractices and so on but we said this is not one of those actions or claims that can begin with originating summons.“Secondly, that this primary election took place in Sokoto State, why we are filling the case in Abuja and series of other actions that we have filled challenging the competence of this court.
“The case has not gone into the substantive matter, all we have done so far is the preliminaries. We served the motion on notice on the plaintiff on 31st, the plaintiff did not take any step.
“Being a pre-election matter and with claims that time is of the essence, they did not take any step to react to the application until this morning.
“They served us in court this morning and we do not have the opportunity of going through the processes, and it is impossible to react to something we have read.
“That was what informed our application to the court for an adjournment with proof and that we are entitled to reply to he processes served on us his morning”.
The plaintiff lawyer, Ikoro Ikoro said the candidature of Tambuwal was being challenged because the gubernatorial primaries was not in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral laws and we want to leave that to the court to decide.
He however raised no objection about the adjournment saying he had to serve the process on the plaintiff in court yesterday morning.

PoliticsPDP Governors Vow To Maintain Lead Across The Nation by mrsuccessful(op): 11:15pm On Apr 01, 2015
State governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party on Wednesday promised to return to their states and work hard to ensure that the party maintains its lead across the country during the April 11 governorship and state houses of assembly elections.

Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Chief Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State, disclosed this while briefing State House correspondents at the end of a meeting the governors had with President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Akpabio said they visited the President to show solidarity with him and promise him that they would remain undaunted by the fate that befell the party during the last presidential election.

He said the governors also commended Jonathan for his statesmanship after the result of the election was released.

He said, “We as governors came to assure him (the President) that we are going back as field commanders to hold our states and that come April 11, PDP will still maintain its lead across Nigeria.

“Everybody knows that the only party that is national in nature and is on ground is the PDP. So we are not going to be undaunted by what has happened.

“The party has already indicated that it will explore all legal means in order to ensure redress. So, we are also proud of the party and we want to congratulate all our voters and all PDP faithfuls across Nigeria for their peaceful disposition.

“This is the only party that has not carried stick to break somebody’s windscreen after election. Because of the sacrificial stand of the President, our faithfuls are not on the streets, breaking APC windscreens and vehicles.

“If it were to be the other way round, you know what would have happened today. That is where Nigerians must judge: we want peace, stability and unity.”

Akpabio said the governors were impressed because Jonathan did what no African leader had ever done.

He said it was commendable that despite the flawed nature of the election, the President said he remained committed to ensuring peace and stability of the country.

Other governors who attended the meeting were Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta); Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe); Ramalan Yero (Kaduna); Lyel Imoke (Cross River); Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa); Sullivan Chime (Enugu); Jonah Jang (Plateau); Martin Elechi (Eboyin); and Idris Wada (Kogi),

PDP governors who were not at the meeting included Sule Lamido (Jigawa); Isa Yuguda (Bauchi); Babangida Aliyu (Niger); Gabriel Suswam (Benue); Ibrahim Shema (Katsina); Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo) and Ayo Fayose (Ekiti).

Among the absentees, only Fayose delivered his state for the President during the Saturday’s presidential election.
