When has playing politics become dividend of democracy? I think the gov is right by saying that the candidate must not be a regular Nigeria politician. Obi is not like a regular nigerian politician, he is just decent, humble and above all a good manager of men, material and money.

PoliticsPosterity Will Blame Me For Allowing IMO STATE Rot Away- Capt Iheanacho by muktarl(op): 8:57pm On May 13, 2013
For the first time, the former Minister of Interior, Capt. Emmanuel Ihenacho, has opened up on the intrigues that led to his sudden suspension as a minister saying that it had to do with the interests of some political parties that offered him the chance of contesting the governorship election in 2011 for Imo State but he declined because he was not ready to obstruct the arrangement of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Ihenacho, who was fielding questions from journalists in Owerri, maintained that he had made up his mind to serve the state as governor in 2015 since the blame would be heaped on people like him why they left the state to rot away instead of offering quality service to bring even development and conducive atmosphere for investment to thrive.

According to the oil and gas magnet, the business of governance is not a job or where one learns how to use the resources of the state to better the lot of some family members and supporters, but a desire to serve selflessly to the betterment of the general public.

“You have to decide that you are going to sacrifice for your people. Imo people want somebody who understands the basic of economics, somebody who is ready to work for the people and not necessarily embezzling the state funds. Not somebody who would go there to initiate different taxes on people, but someone who will create avenue for generation of funds independently,” he said.

Ihenacho observed that he had very good chance to become the next governor of the state, considering his antecedents, experience in both public and private life, adding “I have a very good chance to be there by 2015 as governor. It is a sacrifice that I will make to salvage Imo people. I am willing and able to take that chance.”

“Imolites are suffering. Igbo as a whole are suffering; someone has to speak out for them. I think I am the man. We cannot afford to waste more time in the state. I felt that all these years, we would have done better. With my exposure, I am in a position to know when there is progress in a system and when much is not done. I think that I have the capacity to build and develop the state,” he stated.

A chieftain of the PDP, who had made several sacrifices to build the party in the state, Ihenacho also observed that the state had not done well in terms of good governance, believing that if there was good governance at the state, certain things would have been addressed, such as creating capacity for employment generation.

I am no anambarian, and i schooled in dat state for over 6yrs, as a matter of fact, i am currently there for a post-graduate program, hence i do not need to be told about how democracy has been dispensed in that state.

Take this from me, i posses a progressive mind and i acknowledge progress whereva i deem fit and i wouldnt be cowed by your ilk who will never see anything good in an administration because of your blind hatred for the person in charge.

Whatever you say from now henceforth is your opinion and urs alone... Plz dont attempt dragin me into it or branding me if i decline.
Some people cannot see beyond their nose. That is the fact. I will keep saying it from the roof top Obi remains among the 5 best performing governors. Development goes beyond mere construction of road which Obi has done even up to the remotest community in the state more than most other governors. He is among the very few governors that are rated high on MDG project implementation by the world bank. He has developed all sectors of the economy: viz: Industrialization, Health, Education, Agriculture, Urban/rural development, Human resource development. etc. Am yet to see one governor in the southern Nigeria who has attracted more investments including FDIs worth billions of naira than Obi in the last 5years. Note that he has done all these without borrowing a penny, because of his fiscal responsibility. Today I read that the state is not owing any bank whatsoever just like other states do.

FreeGlobe: lol. if everybody means nairaland paid Peter obi agents then you are right. Its a different story in Anambra state. it is a known fact that Chris Ngige's 3 years trumps Peter Obi's dormant 8 years by miles. The absence of Edo and Akwa Ibom from your list of performing state shows you are a joker.
Am not disputing that Edo and Akwaibom are performing. Oshiomole is among the decent and prudent governors in Nigeria today. Akpabio is on the other hand a trailbrazer, although he has so much money in his treasury that he could buy anybody passing (MR BIGS) lol. He has equally tried in lifting once timid Akwaibom and given them a sense of pride.

Everybody cannot be lying at the same time. If 5 people are saying that a particular thing is white while only you is saying that it is black, that means there is saw dust in your eyes or that you have hardened your heart not to see through. Am not from SE but there are 5 frontline governors presently in Nigeria that even Worldbank/MDG respects in terms of performance: Lagos, Anambra, Cross River, Jigawa and Rivers. Do your research and save yourself from this embarrasment. Gaskiya

The gov is busy running around while his state is being over-run by kidnappers:

The gale of kidnapping erroneously thought to have subsided in Imo State re-echoed Sunday February 24, 2013, when a six-man gang of kidnappers invaded Oguta community and ferried away a popular businessman, Emeka Aseme, to an unknown destination. Aseme, who is the proprietor of the popular Niger Plaza Oguta was reportedly picked by the hoodlums who appeared incognito in full military regalia with Hilux Toyota van to deceive the eagle eyed local vigilance group manning the town. The bandits reportedly entered the town through the Egbu-oma road linking the town with Owerri, the state capital.

A prominent indigene of the community who simply gave his name as Nani told the Daily Independent that the incident which occurred Sunday evening between 8-9 pm shook the ancient town to its very foundation with incessant shootings by the bandits. Nani, who described the shooting as the worst in the history of the town, said the hoodlums on siting their victim began a shooting spree to scare people away and thereafter, captured their victim.

Men of the Oguta Local Government Divisional police who later engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel lost two of their members in the exchange of gun shots while the hoodlums escaped through the adjoining Egbuoma Road.

Aseme was said to have been shot severally on the leg before being taken away by the abductors.

The PPRO, Vitalis Onugu (DSP), could not respond to calls put to him by the Daily Independent for confirmation.

Widow of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu yesterday in Owerri, the Imo State capital expressed shock that a monument being erected by the leader of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, to immortalise the name of her husband was brought down by unknown persons. Yet-to-be identified persons had last Saturday while the MASSOB leader was away to Oraifite, Anambra State to attend a burial ceremony sneaked into his (Chief Ralph Uwazuruike) street to reduce the Ojukwu memorial library that had reached roofing level to rubble.

Bianca, who came on a visit with Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, former Information minister, Professor Dora Akunyili and Chairman of South-East traditional rulers, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya said it was unfortunate that some people could conspire to destroy what was set to immortalise the name of her husband. She said Ndigbo should see her late husband as a rallying point and so Ndigbo should protect anything kept to retain his name. Bianca advised those who carried out the demolition to desist from the act, saying those who carried out the act were not working for the interest of Ndigbo.

Also, Governor Obi said he was as shocked as Bianca when he heard about the demolition of the memorial library. Obi, who said he did not believe the story said he decided to come to Owerri to see things for himself, saying it was unfortunate that some people destroyed a structure erected to immortalise the name of the late Ikemba. The governor said the late Ojukwu represented the strength and symbol of the Igbo, saying anybody doing anything to immortalise his name should be encouraged. Obi promised that he would support Uwazuruike to ensure that the demolished library is re-built again.

Speaking, the MASSOB leader said the demolition was the handiwork of anti-Igbo elements. When asked if he knew those behind the pulling down of the building, Uwazuruike said he would not like to mention names, but added that the perpetrators know themselves. Uwazuruike promised that the library project billed to be commissioned next month would continue, vowing that nothing would make him not to complete it.

Am from the north. but for real this rojas of a guy is dining with the devil. this steps he and his rubber stamp executive has taken will get their fingers burnt sooner than later. From my understanding of APGA, Peter Obi actually made Rochas what he is today by giving him ticket instead of Agbaso and subsequently gave him support against Ohakim and rest of them. what an ingrate!
PoliticsImo Executive Backs Okorocha On APC by muktarl(op): 7:50pm On Feb 27, 2013
The participation of Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State in the merger talks that led to the formation of All Progressive Congress (APC) has been applauded by members of the state executive and his political associates who described the move as visionary and timely.

The members unanimously expressed their support to Okorocha and endorsed the new mega party in an affirmative voice vote after the governor briefed them on the matter during a close-door meeting with political appointees and associates which took place at the Sam Mbakwe Expanded Council Chamber over the weekend. While throwing more light on his participation, Okorocha was said to have expressed satisfaction and optimism that APC would provide a formidable platform that will enthrone good governance at all levels in the country in 2015.

The governor, according to sources, carpeted the ruling Peoples Party (PDP) for failing to address the socio-economic problems that have continued to slow down the development of Nigeria for 14 years the party has ruled the country.

Fielding questions from journalists, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Mr. Ebere Uzoukwa, who also attended, described the meeting as fruitful and a significant step towards making APC a household name in Imo and South East.

He said, “You know that Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha since this week has been in Abuja following his deep involvement in the formation of the first ever mega party in the country comprising the four leading opposition parties including our party, APGA. As a leader, the governor deemed it necessary to brief members of the state expanded executive and other political associates on his participation and the level of progress so far made in building a very strong platform that will wrest power from PDP in 2015. In fact, we applauded his vision in making sure that the South East is fully represented in the party. The governor’s bold step has no doubt given hope to the people of South East who are presently marginalized by the PDP”.

On the challenges posed by the crisis rocking APGA in respect to the merger, Uzoukwa said, “The real APGA people otherwise known as APGA-APGA are part of the merger while the APGA-PDP led by our brother, the Anambra State governor, will join later.”

We really understand his predicament and as an appointee of President Goodluck Jonathan, you do not expect him to declare open support to whatever move that is targeted at sacking the PDP. “

_The governor’s media aide added that having secured the support of his political associates, Okorocha who is charged with the responsibility of coordinating the activities of the party in the South East has commenced putting the necessary structures on ground towards strengthening the party for victory ahead of future elections in the zone.

“As I am speaking with you, Okorocha, who no doubt is a beautiful bride in the merger considering his popularity in the North and West and the massive support he has continued to enjoy in the South East, has started consultation with other leaders and progressives from the zone. “Then considering the achievement of the governor in the bid to rescue Imo State vis-a-vis the fact that he remains a brand well respected by the Igbos owing to his uncommon leadership qualities, APC will definitely win Anambra in 2014 and other South East states in 2015” Uzoukwa said.

Onyegecha: Ndi Imo need to open their eyes wide before the evil flood sweeps us all away. When those that should know and direct others are blinded by abracadabra, then there is huge trouble. I just laugh when people express the wish that Nigeria should be run by Imo governor. They should be careful what they wish for because they just might get it. ROCHAS IS ENERGETIC, PASSIONATE AND AMBITIOUS, SO HE WORKS! Yes he works, but his projects have no real worth because he just dabbles into things without careful planning. He is reckless and too flippant and vain for a leader. He is a master of double-speak and policy somersault. In one instant he tells us he has never borrowed a Kobo to run the state. Next minute, we hear he has borrowed much more than his predecessors. Somethings are more serious that sentiments. I wonder how a governor can stand before a crowd and tell them that he does not believe in due process. I just wonder.
You have made a valid point. But am sorry these blinded bigots here on NL will call for your head for standing up to the truth.
