Vat is about 12.5% or so,while it is 5% in Nigeria. Even port charges in Ghana are higher than most countries in West Africa. So understandably, prices of goods and services are relatively higher in Ghaba. But again it shows the resilience of the Ghanaian economy. Currently, there is a big debate in Nigeria about plans to charge 7.5% VAT. People are crying that increasing vat to 7.5% will impoverish more nigerians just 7.5% vat oooh meanwhile Ghanaians pay at least 12.5% vat and are doing fine. Chai, naija eeeh
