GEJ should stop pissing down our backs and telling us its raining. |
I laugh in brooklyn english. This argument just dey shift goalpost anyhow. |
Kobo u dey laugh. Na serious presidential matter and u dey laugh. PS: how ur thanksgiving? Hope ur turkey no escape from oven and things? |
That's right, lower the bar so our presido can look smarter than a fifth grader |
Typical of NLers. Name calling is ur defence against anything. The lagos being referred to in the report is the whole state. What we used to call lagos was mainly lagos island but that has gradually shifted to include most parts of it now. Yes you can argue it doesn't include places like ikorodu, epe, badagry etc that might be due to its distance from everything else but for what the article is about (I.e. population) it is referring to the total population of lagos including those areas u want cajoled to be included for expansion purposes. |
Kobojunkie, u fit to get time to teach sha. But I doubt the point u r trying to teach in this instance is/would be understood |
Question for Ola, Have the words, 'cheater' and 'hater' been added to the english language hence making them correct? I learned to say you are a cheat but with the american influnce on the english language people say, cheater and hater now and I wonder if that's correct. |
Ola and Jarus, Could you please help shed light on this. I have noticed more than a handful of people use these phrases, "pray tell" or "pray, do tell" in conversations. How correct is this use? Common errors: the use of Been instead of being Seen instead of seeing Also, people say," ghastly accident, fatally wounded but survived, fatal accident but is recovering in the hospital" etc (you can give other examples) I think I know the right uses but would appreciate it if you could help pick them apart for the benefit of all. |
FCT Abuja: A town that looks better through the eyes of the rich. . . |
Its all about verbal showoff, these days there's no action to back up wat is said. |
Thanks my brother. As much as I didn't want to go I'm glad I did for the while I was there. But if anyone asks me what I think of the whole thing. They shouldnt expect me to talk about the parade but the behind the scenes and organization/security lapses. |
I was there when it happened. It was around 10.30. The bombs were planted on two buses parked around justice ministry. The first went off, it took some 10mins b4 we heard sirens or fire trucks. I actually saw some bodybags being moved sometime after the second blast. Included among the victims as reported by some of the security operatives were some SSS running towards the place of the incident. PS: Alhamdulillah my friends and I are alive. We were directed to make a left turn and go park around there but instead we made a u-turn and parked by thisDay dome. |
look at the bigger picture, its really not about being able to communicate in english (reading or writing). even if these subjects are taught in pidgin(which would be interesting to say the least) the willingness and readiness to learn on the part of the student, the teaching techniques of the teachers, the ancient teaching schemes provided by the govt if not changed would only produce the same results. |
when we refuse to constantly condemn acts like this and keep hammering on it. after a while some people start to think it is ok. |
transport fare dey run belle o. |
How about those coming in from NJ? Is there a free ferry as well? Would the residents along that axis embrace a ferry service or even a light rail service if those r made the alternatives? |
Lmao. I'm waiting for those don't see anything wrong in it to pounce on u sooner than later. Aso-ebi president, |
Some people on here have not been consistent with their argument with regards this project over the months this debate has been going on. Anyway that aside, gareth gave the newyork city bridges and tunnel example and I notice no one argued against it. I hear people scream "alternative routes need to be provided". not in all cases can alternative routes be provided. In some cases the alternate routes lead u this far and u hit another toll plaza so u really can't escape it. |
the toll is coming 27yrs late. the toll plaza built on that road initailly should have been used for what it was built for. once lekki-epe road is done, we'll move to tolling as many bridges in lagos as possible. third mainland, eko bridge, we'll build one to apapa and toll it, we'll build one to ikorodu and toll it. we'll be tolling lagos badagry express by the way too, we are already looking into how we'll toll lagos abeokuta expressway. the only road that might be safe is ikorodu road but i cant guarantee it wont get tolled. |
No wonder but I am really not surprised |
hahahaha let the "aso-ebi president" spend and borrow as much as he likes. afterall, he is the breath of fresh air people claim he is and we need. |
all this zoning noise they have refused to let the ordinary ppl rest over. but u know what, it just simply outlines what politicians would do to each other. rotation was always going to be a problem on the longterm and the time for that problem has come. it doesnt matter what level of government its tried. the intentions behind the whole agreement(whatever the agreement entailed i wont call it zoning) were not pure in the first place thats why they are crying wolf now |
lol. i understand both ur points but una wahala of not willing to consider the others point is what is driving the debate all over the place. what i am concerned about is why all these questions and agitations are being asked now. selfishness na bad thing |
this una debate be like musical chairs, u guys just dey turn round and round adding and subtracting watever points u dont agree with even though it would help understand the other persons side ![]() PS: understanding doesnt mean you concede |
would you rather have to pay the regular rate for the calls made on weekends? |
everyone stepping up for the presidency has a brain but some the brain some people bring to the table dont cut it. does wyclef's cut it? lets listen to him and what his plans are before we make our conclusion |
all the right things hehehe. but wait o, doesnt our allergy to anything made in naija also part of the cause? |
Didnt you say that being yoruba is not only based on language but on history too?? so now your changing your story again. So why are Binis not "Yoruba" since yall have "historical ties"? Funny (laughing in Egun)i've been doing that since the thread started. with all the false claims people are using to back up their argument. some even claimed things happened in cities in the west to back up their claims. i wonder if we ask for proof they can provide it. |
