dayo2hot: Guys what clue or any advice will you give someone like me. My contact is Director at FCC. We have a cordial connection that he always picked my calls whenever I call him. Always replied to my SMS. Even call back whenever I called that's he didn't pick. Whenever I called to tell him that I don't mind any agency, he will just smile that God will do it. With this level of cordiallity between you two, he is probally looking for the perfect placement for you. Maybe he doesn't want you to work "just anywhere". At this point, pray harder to God, as he himself has said that God will do it. |

Reelmii: why should u be responsible for the school fees of three siblings wen u can't even satisfy urself...
Africa and family mentality.... You won't understand uvie66: Did your parents give birth to your siblings for you to cater for them ?..... the upkeep of your siblings rest squarely on the shoulder of your parents. I understand where you are coming from. This is exactly why I don't like to talk about my predicament in public. It's just a complex situation. Here is what happened: Mum was doing very well in her foodstuff business prior to 2012, until her container was robbed the night after she had stocked up with products. They emptied her shop. This happened shortly before my admission came through to study in the university. I remember vividly how we all sat down in the parlour confused and sad when I saw my name on the admission list online. While many of my mates were happy to have seen their names, I was wishing my name didn't come out when it did. That was how she gave up the little savings she had left for my school fees...last last the container was eventually sold for the sake of my school. Dad already lost his source of income, but before I gained admission, dad had two lands. He sold them one after the other while I was in school just to make sure I graduate. I remember resuming 200 level almost two months after resumption (missed assignments and quizzes). Though I refused to tell them why I failed to resume on time because I don't discuss my situation with people, If any of my departmental mates see this part of my post, they will know exactly who I am. My family have tried for me o. I will always help anywhere I can, even at the expense of my own self. |

Houston17: You could check out Ui/UX Design. Although, I have no idea the jobs can be done on a phone but check it out. You need to pay to learn some skills. Check on Coursera, apply for financial aid for the program of your choice and then start. Thank you, sir. |

Gaddafi1: Quite sad that you are earning such a meager amount of money, I will say that a lot can still be done to come out of this situation. Some schools in the city like PHC pay as much as 100k for a graduate with your qualification. You can also do private lessons to increase your income. All the best I did my national youth service in PHC 2018/2019 in one of the military schools. The school was so impressed by my commitment and hard work that the commandant wanted to retain me. Many of the staff wanted me to stay too. But tribal politics kicked in (I don't want to go into details, please). I had assurance of being retained right up to the month of my POP. By the time I realized what was going on, I had already passed out and had no where to stay and be looking for jobs in PH again. That was how I lost that one. |

Ficient: Keep your degree aside first. Go ride Keke, okada or taxi. Even private lesson is better than your teaching job. You can drive Keke from morning till 2pm, organise private lessons for kids in a good venue from 4pm to 6pm three or four times a week. Once you close from lesson you hustle small with your taxi or Keke. Think outside the box, learn new skills. Don't tie yourself to that teaching job. @The bolded, the guys are making it big in my area. I have been trying to get my hands on one, but the price is very much on the high side for someone like me. I have tried my luck with private lessons also, but many parents are not willing to go that extra mile for their children, unless you are willing to do it for free. Thank you very much for this comment. I really appreciate. |

Silvernus2020: Please, I would like to know how many subjects you're taking in that school, I once had a teaching job and I was paid #22,500 instead of #30k as agreed,..... And I was teaching Basic Science, Basic Technology, P.H.E, I. C. T, for JSS1 - 3 and for Basic 3, 4 and 5 I was teaching Basic Science, Quantitatively, Creative Writing and Speak Right, ........... It's actually a primary school. Most of the secondary schools here pay around the same amount, then like you pointed out, I will have to teach more than one subject. That's why I opted for the primary school. |

ChiefSosa: You don't have to leave your current job to start over; your current job is your means if survival. You have to dedicate some hours of your time to learn new skills/things. I can't even remember the last time I slept for 3-4 hours. NEVER PUT YOUR HOPE ON HUMANS. It has led to tears...VERY premium tears. That's just the sad situation we've found ourselves in this country. It's one of the reasons we're not progressing 'cause unqualified people are handling several positions. But, you just need to widen out. Go to certain places and meet people. I've seen people that got connections that led to jobs when they were discussing in public. A barber I knew years ago was sponsored abroad for his football career while discussing at the barbing salon. He was barbing my agbalumo head without realizing the next person was a coach. You just have to always make yourself available. Let people be aware of your qualifications and abilities.Years ago, I was with an older family friend at a shell company, so a man started having issues with a computer, he didn't know what to do and getting someone to fix it was a problem. I volunteered to fix it(to the surprise of everyone), and I was able to solve the issue because I've spent hours operating, spoiling and repairing the various computers we had at home. The man immediately offered me a job and I started working the next day till I went to the University. You just have to greatly expand your knowledge and skills acquisition 'cause you never know when you'll be needed.Move with friends that impact positive values to your life. Teach each other things. I taught a friend how to repair computer hardwares and he taught me how to barb. I apply my skills in my day to day life. I'll be turning 68 soon, hope you'll wish me long life and prosperity? You are an inspiration, sir. I pray God grants you all of your wishes. I handle computers excellently well (both operations and diagnostics) and it has been a saving grace more times than I can count. Currently working on expanding my skills soon probably into website development. That's just the sad situation we've found ourselves in this country. It's one of the reasons we're not progressing 'cause unqualified people are handling several positions. The school ended up not being able to recruit anyone for my department (Physics department), while recruiting more than needed for some departments (all those SOS, BUD e.t.c). I later heard that for months, some of the recruited assistant lecturers refused to show up for lectures. They obviously got the lecturing job through connection and you can't give what you don't have. |

ChiefSosa: Nowadays, you can't be relying of certain collar jobs; you need jobs involving your skills. Some barbers earn and spend more than that 16k a week. You need works where you're seeing the money. Salary work nowadays just seems like a waste of time, honesty! It's people with skilled jobs that are doing well now, because they're seeing the money and can spend without waiting for salary at the end of the month. I know some people that dropped out of schools to pursue skills and now they're doing better than some graduates. Even if you're working at some collar jobs, you should have Plan B, C and even D. You are right with your submission. I have since discovered this, but that would mean leaving this current job and starting all over again. How then am I going to be able to handle these other responsibilities? My siblings had already lost some years at home just so my parents can focus on my education to see me graduate. It will be selfish to forsake them now.Add to the fact that it will require some sort of financial investment as well as time to learn a worthwhile skill- both of which are not in my possession right now. The biggest mistake any young man can make right now is going to university without first getting a skill. Or at the very least, you find a way to combine both. Unless of course you have been assured of a job upon graduation. PS: A Federal College of Education, located just opposite my address did a recruitment which coincided with the end of my youth service. Lucky me, right? Well, I went there and a senior lecturer had this to say: "The school is desperately in need of someone with your qualification, but unless you know someone that can push your matter forward. Best of luck to you" |

Originalsly: Hmmmm....... I have no clue how people earning N30k salary survive let alone the unemployed..... so let me take a seat and hear from the ehmmmm...... magicians. 30K? I currently earn 16k as a teacher in a private school with my BTech degree in Physics/Electronics. Might I add that I am the first born of the family and currently solely responsible for the school fees of three siblings, and to a large extent, their feeding too? The depression alone no be here. I had such high hopes of securing a job after service. May God help us in this country. |
