Then loved-up Femi, we learnt, had put Olayinka in a family way when he was selling stationeries at Iponri area of Lagos, and the result of that effort was 26 years old, Christie, the first from his loin but his mum did not only show disapproval, she condemned their dalliance: she sent the poor baby mother away and took the baby to her custody.

For the purpose of this interview, can i have your full names? I’ am Olayinka Odukoya. What kind of relationship existed between you and Mr. Femi Otedola? We used to have a love affair. Was the love affair one that your parents knew about? I mean your own parents and his parents? What happened was that I just finished from secondary school at that time and I was even working when he approached me for a relationship.

I accepted his advances and somewhere along the line, I realised that I’d taken in for him. And this was a time I was just offered an admission into the School of Nursing in Ikoyi; I was only waiting to go for pre-registration interview before I realised I was pregnant. And at that point in time, there was a man, Mr. Tobun father’s house at Odo-Irangusi. It was through my friend that was dating the contractor that I met Femi. And he promised me heaven and earth. As a matter of fact, we both sworn to an oath with the Holy Bible never to leave each other. I was about 21 years at that time and it was at that point that we started sleeping together and I got pregnant for him. And he accepted it.

But in the long run, I realised that he didn’t tell his parents at home that he had put a lady in the family way. It was that Mr. Tobun that later went to his dad to tell him that his son had impregnated a young lady in Ijebu. And his mum later called him to probe him over it after the dad complained to her. But he lied to his mum initially that he did not impregnate anybody. Meanwhile, I used to go to their house regularly before then to the extent that all his younger siblings were familiar with me. His mum even knew me, though she did not know that I was dating her son which was the real purpose of my frequent visit to their house.

The South-east Market Leaders Association of Nigeria has stated that Mrs. Folashade Ojo, who claimed to have taken over Lagos International Trade Fair complex market, is not the new Iyaloja General of Nigeria.


The South-east market leader, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Ezenwa, in a statement made available to THISDAY yesterday, explained that the legitimate Iyaloja General who took over from late Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji is Mrs. Felicia Sanni and not Ojo.

According to Ezenwa, “I want to inform Mrs. Ojo that she is just the South-west market leader, and not in a position to control the South-east union as she claimed, adding that she has documents to prove the claim if further asked.


“The position of Iyaloja General of Nigeria is not a family affair; in fact, the deputy to the Iyaloja General of Nigeria is in position to take over the duties of her principal at her death or resignation, I insist.”

Ezenwa also explained in the statement that the Law enforcement agencies should be relevant at this time and not allow themselves to be misled by some politicians, adding that the Market Unions in Lagos should be aware, and should not aid the wrong person to authority.

“The Iyaloja General of Nigeria was her grandmother before her death. As stated in the registered Articles of the Association, this position was not designed, formed or implied to be a family business. The Market Women Association has the Board of Trustees (BoT) who is certified of such status during registration at the CAC.

“This document is a positive reaction against the publication titled: ‘Tinubu’s daughter takes over Lagos International Trade Fair complex market’, ‘where she allegedly said all traders in Lagos must be under my control’,” she added.

The family of the slain Oyo State lawmaker, who until his death represented Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Olatoye Temitope has announced the final burial date for the deceased lawmaker.


Olatoye, who was shot in the eyes on Saturday March 9 during the gubernatorial and state House of Assembly elections, is to be buried on May 3.

According to the family,


A younger brother to the deceased, Mr. Dotun Olatoye, told journalists on Monday that the burial programme will begin on April 29, 2019.

He said, “Burial program would likely be a week. We are looking at Monday 29th April, 2019 – Friday 3rd May, 2019. We shall take final position on or before this Friday.”

A former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party.

Daniel, in his letter to the National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, dated March 14, 2019, also announced his resignation from partisan politics.

He said the decision to quit partisan politics was personal to him.

Daniel was the Director-General of Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Organization before the former Vice President emerged as the presidential candidate of the PDP in the election conducted a few weeks ago.

“This is to inform you of my intention to resign from active and partisan politics with effect from today, the 14th day of March, 2019.

My decision in this regard is entirely personal to me and having served in various capacities, including as Governor of Ogun State, I have resolved to immerse myself in some other vocations and take on some new challenges,” he said in the letter.

Mr. Seyi Makinde, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State, is leading by a wide margin in the Saturday’s election.

With the results from 32 out of the 33 local government areas in the state announced so far by the collations officers, Makinde polled 481,176 votes to beat his closest contestant, Adebayo Adelabu of the All Progressives Congress, who scored 339,801 votes.

The result from the only remaining local government Area, Ibadan South-West, is being awaited.

Mr Seyi Makinde, governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has won his polling unit 01, Ward 11, in Ibadan North East Local Government Area with 165 votes, while his close rival, Adebayo Adelabu scored 71 votes.

Announcing the results, Mr Nnamdi Emmanuel, the Presiding Officer for the polling unit, said that ADC candidate, Femi Lanlehin came third with 02 votes

For the House of Assembly results from the Polling unit, PDP also won with 142 votes, while APC candidate scored 70 votes, and ADC 07 votes.

Total registered voters in the PU is 705, but only 241 voted after they were accredited.

There was no case of void votes recorded in the governorship election, whereas 04 votes were voided in the Assembly votes

One person was reportedly killed while several others sustained injuries when some groups of activists were protecting against former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu. It was learnt that some activists, under the auspices of Free Lagos Orange Movement, held a rally to appeal to residents to come out en masse to vote against the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Babajide Sanwo- Olu, in the March 9 polls. Free Lagos Orange Movement is a coalition of political parties and civil society organisations led by former President of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Dr. Olisa Agbakoba. It was learnt that the protesters had arrived the Airport Hotel as early as 7a.m. in four buses.

But they were about to start the protest when a team of policemen from Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and policemen from MAN House stormed the venue and dispersed the protesters. A witness, who simply identified himself as Ade, said as the policemen were shooting canisters of tear gas into the midst of the protesters who were shouting “Oto ge,” “Enough is enough”.

He said: “As this commotion was going on, another group of people just emerged from Alade Avenue, throwing bottles at the policemen. While this was going on, some of the policemen and protesters sustained injuries. “Where I was standing in my shop across the road, I saw some of the protesters drag some of their members who sustained injuries into their waiting bus.”

A bureau-de-change operator, Malam Shaba Ali, said it was a serious situation at the Airport Hotel to Allen Bus Stop as most drivers left their vehicles to avoid being hit by stray bullets. He said: “It was after the policemen had left the scene that we got information that one of the protesters, who was hit by stray bullet, died in the hospital where he was rushed to. It was a free-for-all between the police and the group.

“Initially, the first set of policemen drafted to the scene couldn’t handle the protesters. The police had to call for reinforcement; it was then they were able to disperse them. “I heard the protesters say that a vote for the governorship candidate is an extension of Tinubu’s rule in Lagos State. Therefore, they would do everything possible to work against him during the election on March 9.” Broken bottles littered every part of the Obafemi Awolowo Way and the other side of the Airport Hotel. The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Chike Oti, said the group did not seek permission before em-barking on the protest.

He said: “It is not true; nobody died during protest. We don’t want a repeat of what happened in some parts of the state. The group only gathered at the Airport Hotel without informing the police about their gathering; there was nobody to hold responsible. “When we learnt about the arrival of the group coming to do a rally, we quickly sent our men there. But it turned out to be a riotous mob.

The only thing we could do was to disperse them with tear gas. “We didn’t want it to degenerate into something else because they had been throwing objects at one another. We also didn’t want innocent people to be affected and vehicles damaged; that was why we used tear gas.” Earlier, the heavily armed policemen prevented entry and exit of vehicles into the hotel.

The policemen also parked a black Maria Truck belonging to the Lagos State Task Force in front of the hotel just as they ordered the blockade of all the two gates leading to the hotel and preventing people from gaining access to the Oranmiyan Hall where the press conference called by the group was to hold. Subsequently, scores of people, who had come for the event, were stranded at the gate as they were prevented from entering, while those already sitting inside, including journalists, were not allowed to come out.

A 38-year-old mother has been arrested in Tennessee, for allegedly sleeping with her daughter’s 14-year-old boyfriend 50 times.
The mother of 6 who has been sleeping with daughter’s 14-year-old boyfriend was identified as Jamie Tice, and she was arrested after a friend told the police that she told her about the romantic affair with the boy. Jamie who was charged in November 2017 with five counts of statutory rape, admitted in court that the sexual relationship started in December of 2016 when the boy was 14, and continued until October 2017.

While the rape victim estimated that they had sex 40 to 50 sexual encounters, Tice claimed that they slept together 20 times. ‘He said that after the first couple of times, yes, he was a willing participant, but the age of consent is 18 in Tennessee and she knew that,’ Sumner County Assistant District Attorney Ron Blanton told the Hendersonville Standard. Though the boy had testified that the relationship was consensual, Jamie told the court that the boy forced himself on her and also threatened to tell her husband and daughter in subsequent times.

‘He would go back and forth between these personalities and it was a daily thing,’ Tice tearfully told jurors. ‘I was caught between the worst rock and hard place in my entire life,’ she said. ‘I never, not one time made an advance at [him].’ Jamie’s daughter who dated the boy for about a year-and-a-half beginning in August of 2016, attends Metro Christian Academy and other church functions with him. Jamie who is due to be sentenced on March 22, was found guilty of two counts of statutory rape by an authority figure and three counts of aggravated statutory rape.

It would be recalled that a woman has been spared jail after she admitted to raping her daughter’s 13-year-old boyfriend. Elaine Goodman, 46, faced up to 15 years in prison but was sentenced to two years’ probation. But while a judge at Kent County Superior Court in Delaware said her action was “an aberration”, he did not think jailing her was the answer. Goodman pleaded guilty to fourth degree rape, acknowledging that she met the boy after he snuck out of his home in the early hours of one morning in March 2015.

After driving around for a while, the boy revealed in an interview that the pair had become intimate and she “took his you-know-what and put it in her you-know-what,” according to court documents.

Former Nigeria Football Federation Technical Committee Chairman, Taiwo Ogunjobi, has been reported dead. His demise was posted by sports journalist, Colin Udoh, on Twitter on Monday morning. Ogunjobi indicated interest in the NFF job in 2018 which was eventually won by the incumbent, Amaju Pinnick. Ogunjobi had previously run for the NFF presidency in 2014, but lost to Pinnick.

May his soul rest in peace.
