Lefty500: There is something called skilled worker visa going rate.
First you need to know what's the occupation code for your targeted job, then go to UK dot gov to check the standard going rate, that is the minimum you must earn to be eligible for sponsorship in the role.
A role might be one that can offer sponsorship but if the offered salary is lower than the standard going rate, then it becomes ineligible for sponsorship. Different role with different standard going rate.
There's a lower going rate for some certain role, also based on the date the COS was issued
For example Data analyst has occupation code of 3544, with standard going rate of £33,200/y and £28,600 for lower going rate. So you must earn equal or above £33,200 to be eligible for sponsorship, but if you got the COS before 4th April 2024,then you go with the lower going rate.
COS gotten before 4th April 2024 => lower going rate After 4th April 2024 => standard going rate.
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/skilled-worker-visa-going-rates-for-eligible-occupations/skilled-worker-visa-going-rates-for-eligible-occupation-codes Thank you for this explaination. So, if someone lands a 33,200 for a DA role within NHS. Will there be able to bring their dependents into the country? |

Ticha: There are no buzzwords per se. Its how you structure your responses to show you are utilising the skills you say you have. For example, STAR is an excellent way to show how you meet the behaviours. I always advise going a bit further and make it STARR (ie add what you would do differently nezt time in the same situation or your specific learnings from that situation) which then ties into continuous improvement Send me an email and I'll send you some examples of behaviour responses I've used amd now also use for L and D development sessions at work Please I am interested in this too. Can I send a Mail too🙏🏼. |

Hello guys,
Please I recently started shooting at NHS from Nigeria. But I see some band 6 role with salary between 35-42k. Knowing the recent migration rule of 37,800. My friend said for new entrant like me I will be placed on the lower band and this does not qualify to get COS. I am in the tech space with over 3 years experience.
Please is this true?. Should I just focus on Band 7 roles or higher paying role whose minimum band qualify for the new rule. |

Aphrodite007: Very good advice. It’s literally what I tell my mentees. I tell them to Look at a job spec of their dream job and build themselves to the point that they can tick all of them off.
I’m also happy that you pointed out that UK doesn’t care about degrees.
If I could advise this person, it will be that they should change that course to computing because data is too narrow. Computing gives the opportunity to be anything, provided they certify! The world changes every day, the last thing anyone wants is to be stuck in Data when a new thing comes and replaces Data.
Hebraeem, please post this in the student section, if you’re from there. So students stop limiting themselves. @LagosismyHome Hi, At the bolded word, I just want to tell you that I use your quote in an article I wrote. I hope you don't mind, you can find it between the first 15 line of the article here PS: I am not the one that asked the question lol. i still dey lagos for my papa house single and unemployed. I do come to travel sections to keep the hope alive. I will also be deleting link in the next few days. I hope you get to see the quote before then. me self won turn one of your mentees too oooo. |

In my case, we can’t even breath around the man. We only laugh when he laughed and cough when he coughed and that calling part, guy you deserve an AWARD oo. AnalysisGuru: Just to encourage you guys. I have moved from my former job to two other jobs since September 2020. I invested lockdown period in diving deeply in Data Science. I knew Excel before but i went further in SQL, understanding database normalization, stored procedures, joins and every other stuff. Then i also went further into Algorithms, understanding clustering, logistic regression, and a whole lot. I mixed this with some understanding of Javascript frameworks a bit too. I wanted myself to be too hot for just a firm. I capped with learning about Airflow too for data pipelines and automation. Finally, with my background in Economics, I made sure to understand business concepts and understanding what happens in the economy too. My initial job was 130k gross, 2nd job I got was 160k gross, i resigned after a month for this one I am currently in now. Data is the new oil peeps. Companies are on the look out for sharp data guys that can speak insights with numbers. Videos are nice but get your hands dirty with datasets and practicing. Real world application is the main thing not just understanding the concept.
Lastly, someone said, what I cannot create, I don't understand. This should be your goal. By next year i can decide to start sending my CVs out again if this firm doesn't impress and challenge me further.... Lolz. I have not arrived too. Its a journey, not a destination. Pls sir, can I send a pm. I have also been studying and applying for jobs and there’s nothing yet. So morale is a lil bit low too. I will be glad if you can mentor and nudge me in the right direction |

"The shame of failing at marriage brought what I imagine
to be a rare form of pain. First, you have to deal with the
shame that your lover exposed your life to someone else.
Then there is the fact that you have failed at an institution
that has existed since forever. Your beauty, degrees, job
and everything else don’t earn you any points in this
situation". (p. 83)
