Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by mwenhen: 4:56pm On Oct 17, 2023
Good day everyone. My husband and I wants to travel to Canada through the study route however my husband was refused a visitor’s visa to Canada in 2016. The application was done by an agent and he filled that he was married with a child, which is not true. We got married in 2020 and we’ve both travelled to the uk and we’re back to Nigeria. Now we know if we submit anything contrary to what he submitted earlier, it will be termed misrepresentation but we want to be truthful in this application otherwise we will be adding more lies which I do not want. We have ordered his “entire file “gcms notes already but it’s not out yet. Has anyone been in this situation? Please I need suggestions on how to handle it.

Thank you
It's a tricky situation.

You should await the GCMS note. Hopefully, it doesn't cite misrepresentation.

If it's not that, regrettably, you may have to maintain the initial claim, or you risk facing a misrepresentation ban. Convincing a visa officer about an error in marriage status or the number of children will be challenging.

But let's hear from other people here.

Hello boss. Any news from UKVI? Still waiting here too... mine is now 18 weeks since biometric
Nothing yet, still waiting. I sent an email to my MP yesterday to help me check on my application. The Home office has been contacted by my MP this morning, so I’m waiting for their response.

The wait is tiring. But i suppose they've got backlog.

I used UKVINHSteam@homeoffice.gov.uk (dedicated email for nhs staff).

Thank you. I’m not being sponsored by the NHS so I guess the email will not work.

Please has anyone switched from Student Visa to work visa recently?

My application is now 16 weeks since biometric and UKVI keeps saying they're having technical issues. The MP also got same response.

This is tiring cry

Hi CheesyTee I’m also waiting for a decision on my tier 2 application, mine is 12 weeks already. Do you mind sharing the email used in contacting UKVI? I also sent you a pm

Hello House,
I got my study visa in November, My TB test is expiring this month, January 22nd 2021. With this lockdown, I plan to enter between January 29 and February 10. Will my 22 January expiry date be a problem for me at the border on entry?
I am going with family and their TB test is still valid till May 2021, I am the only one whose own is expiring this month.
Do they always check this TB test cert at the borders?

Mine expired and it was not checked at Manchester airport.

[quote author=assumpta1 post=97770694]I know right. I just want to know if dependent apply later because it seems like a brp replacement visa may take time to be issued. And by then it would have expired. The new rules are so confusing. [/quote

I don’t know if you’ve gotten a reply. I switched from a dependant visa to a student visa in December. Biometrics is not needed because they already have it, I was told to download an app and upload the necessary documents, the visa was approved in 3 days and my new BRP was sent to my address. I was instructed to return my former BRP.

My great comrades in Nairaland.. Please, does anyone knows weather Cotonou required covid 19 test before they can board in their country. Because, I am to book ticket on the 2nd of September to fly through Cotonou route. As our government are not reliable. Please I need answer ASAP. If someone that has passed through can give me the road map.. And the challenges he or she experience.

I passed through Cotonou on August 12, it was stress free for me. I boarded Ethiopian airline and no covid test was required.

@nwenhen, please form did u fill stating where you'll stay? Or is it address you input in ur visa application u re referring to? Pls expanciate
This is the form you’ll fill 48hrs before arrival, the airline you’re using will even send you a reminder to fill it.
https://visas-immigration.service.gov.uk/public-health-passenger-locator-form

If it’s the address you stated on your application that you’ll self isolate in, you can put it there .

Haaa. The internet can spread lies ehhh, and there were speculations by the media that before you board a flight from Cotonou, you have to undergo a compulsory covid 19 test worth 100 dollars and some cents.

Thanks @mwenhen.
No covid test is demanded but I think it also depends on the country you’re traveling to. For UK , I filled a form online stating where I will be isolating for the next 14 days and I was asked for it at arrival, you either print it out or show them on your phone.

Please anyone that has used the Cotonou route should enlighten us how to cross the border.
Once you get to Seme border, there’re bikes there that will take you through alternative route. You can cross with 4K. I entered Cotonou on the 11th, I got into the UK yesterday.

pls share document submitted

Initially I sent
Bank statement showing funds in account for 28days
Marriage certificate
Wedding pictures
Tb certificate

Three weeks later, I was asked to send in more Supporting documents because we got married a day after My husband’s Visa was issued, it was even after the wedding he picked up his passport. These are what I later submitted :

pictures of us hanging out with friends
Wedding invitation cards
Call logs
WhatsApp messages
Bank statement showing him sending money to my account
letters from best man and chief bridesmaid showing relationship with us, they added their ID’s
A letter from my dad too.
I just had to send anything I could lay hands on to convince them that it was not an arranged marriage. It was after I sent the supporting documents that lockdown started.

@ mwenhen... I noticed you have been sharing most of my posts related to UK stuff for no reason. Why?

Good morning ma’am, I’m bookmarking a lot of post for future reference. I’ll be joining my husband soon in the UK on a tier 4 dependent visa, so I’m just gathering information by reading through the thread.
I want to specially thank you guys for the wonderful job you are doing here, please I’m not your village people .

Dear good people, kindly see below pictorial explanation from Canadian immigration website. The 8,7,7,7 that has been ringing bell here is not a prerequisite. You can still make it 6,6,6,6 provided your score is within CLB 7. You must not make it 8,7,7,7 to qualify.
Brethren, who else is with me.
you are alone in this, calculate your scores using the 6666. If You had read through the thread you will not be posting this.
