misano: Okay now U agree that Tayo doesn't own the land and the building, right? He doesn't even own the goods, just the franchise brand name |
Politics › Re: Top 10 Biggest Supermarket Chain In Nigeria And Their Owners by MXrep: 4:07pm On May 04, 2023 |
misano: Yes I agree he owns the name and 25 branches. Marketsquare has 23 branches fully owned, name land and everything. He doesn't own the branches, just the brand name. Meanwhile Roban owns his own malls and everything in it |

Putinofrussia: Everybody knows that except you, reason it is Shoprite Nigeria. Yes of course, ShopRite Nigeria branch brand name franchise. Every store is independently owned |
Politics › Re: Top 10 Biggest Supermarket Chain In Nigeria And Their Owners by MXrep: 4:04pm On May 04, 2023 |
misano: Okay, but the Shoprite location in Edo State doesn't belong to Tayo, it belongs to Edo State government. Shoprite is just a name, Tayo bought the name and the supermarket. The shop around the mall belongs to other people. He didn't even buy the supermarket, just the franchise |
Politics › Re: Top 10 Biggest Supermarket Chain In Nigeria And Their Owners by MXrep: 4:03pm On May 04, 2023 |
Putinofrussia: Have you told the man who acquired Konga to go and start from the sctrach? For your imformation,Tayo Amusan has what is bigger than Shoprite Nigeria. This is what gave him the stamina to acqiure Shoprite. Meanwhile,Tayo Amusan is the one who gave Igbos the biggest mall,Polo Mall,in the entire South East. Lol, Polo Park Mall is Enugu State property irrespective of the contractor |
Politics › Re: Top 10 Biggest Supermarket Chain In Nigeria And Their Owners by MXrep: 4:02pm On May 04, 2023 |
renderme: He can't own the brand name ode. The brand name belongs to the parent company. The franchisee uses the brand name for his store which is what Amusan does wt all his 25 shoprite stores. Gosh. Please go and read a book. He owns all the stores and the whole supply chain of Shoprite in Nigeria. He bought it 100%. Also it's exclusive - no one else owns a ShopRite store in Nigeria cos no one else has the franchise.
It doesn't mean he owns the building ShopRite is situated in. Dts a different issue. As I said earlier, he owns the palms in Lekki, ota, Enugu, Ibadan and Ilorin. And ShopRite rents in the other malls they are located in. He only bought the Nigeria branch of the franchise. All stores are independent |
Politics › Re: Top 10 Biggest Supermarket Chain In Nigeria And Their Owners by MXrep: 3:47pm On May 04, 2023 |
Putinofrussia: That guy is ignorant. Even if it is,it is owned by Tayo Amusan. Tayo own the franchise not the stores |
Politics › Re: Top 10 Biggest Supermarket Chain In Nigeria And Their Owners by MXrep: 3:46pm On May 04, 2023 |
Putinofrussia: Bring your proof or stop arguing.
Business mogul Tayo Amusan, using Ketron Investment Limited, as vehicle has completed the acquisition of Shoprite operations in Nigeria.
Ketron is a subsidiary of Persianas Investment Limited, a property firm.. Tayo Amusan should go and start a retail chain from scratch like Igbos. |
Politics › Re: Top 10 Biggest Supermarket Chain In Nigeria And Their Owners by MXrep: 3:44pm On May 04, 2023 |
Guestlander: I heard Shoprite was indeed sold out to the real estate company housing them in Nigeria which is basically Tayo Amusan's company. Only the brand name |

Natajo2021: ShopRite sold the brand and the pioneer branches before they exited Nigeria. Thank you, only the brand and pioneer branch. Every other branches are owned differently |
Politics › Re: Top 10 Biggest Supermarket Chain In Nigeria And Their Owners by MXrep: 3:41pm On May 04, 2023 |
renderme: Please say what you know. The ShopRite franchise in Nigeria (Retail Supermarket Nigeria Ltd) owned all the ShopRite stores in Nigeria. This was bought by Amusans company. There is no other ShopRite franchise in Nigeria that is owned by anyone else. He owns all 25 stores.
ShopRite (SA) itself has no interest in franchising to any other company in Nigeria. It took a lot for them to even allow Amusan franchise their brand, and it's because he was their landlord at the palms and owned other successful franchises. His wife Ayo Amusan, owns the Hugo Boss, Lacoste and Puma franchises in Nigeria.
Now if U talk about who owns the shoprite malls, dts a different issue. Amusan owns the palms mall in Lekki, Enugu, Ota, Ilorin and Ibadan, but all the other premises ShopRite shop resides in across the country is rented.
PS - in related news, the Spar franchise in Nigeria is also solely owned. He owns the franchise doesn't mean he own the retail chains. He only own the Nigeria franchise, that is, the brand name. Meanwhile, igbos have founded many retail chains from scratch, something yorubas are good at |

Him tu lie like Obi. I said Enugu Spar. You clearly don't understand the meaning of "Franchise". I can build a mall in my City and name it Spar and give the India man his percentage. That's how franchise works |
Politics › Re: Top 10 Biggest Supermarket Chain In Nigeria And Their Owners by MXrep: 2:17pm On May 04, 2023 |
Armaggedon: Op is advertising his ignorance. Shoprite is a franchise. They only occupy a section of the malls where they do business. The malls are built by Government or through individual partnership. That's why they are named differently like Polo mall, Ikeja mall, Onitsha shopping mall etc
Again, most of the names you put up there are unknown. The most popuar and biggest are Spar Everyday supermarket Roban stores Market square Next cash and carry shoprite Ebeano
Thirdly, I expected you to rank them by assets value, market share or possibly, profit, you're busy counting kiosk-size branches of unknown entities. Yorubas are comedians, imagine listing retail chains without Everyday, NEXT, ROBAN, and Priceless. They think the world revolves around Lagos |

Is it by bragging? Or what exactly?
Yorubaland is head quarters of Middle income Nigeria largely represented in Lagos and Ogun state with ripple effect in other four Yoruba states
The huge chunk of Middle income Nigerians live within the South West region of Nigeria.
Middle income earners are the engine room of the economy of any country. Middle-class is stronger in SE. This useless stat has no source. All stats from competent authority prove SE to be the least poor |

Wike will go into utter Oblivion after office. If he had aligned with Peter Obi to emerge PDP candidate that could have been his best political card, but yoruba propaganda brainwashed him to believe that he is ahead of SE politically.
