From this map you can see the most important bridge in Anambra state that remains unbuilt. A bridge is needed at the point of entry of Omanbala into the Niger to access the sparsely populated lands in Anam
TabletMan: That's river Niger, the only river close to akpaka area is Nkisi which is not big like this. Omambala river is not this expansive.
You are right that Omanbala is not that expansive but you are wrong to say that nkisi is close to akpaka Forest. From the map below the river is probably the Niger but you can see the northwards expansion is squeezed by Omanbala River such that it's going towards Nsugbe by the banks if Omanbala instead of towards Anam by the banks of the Niger
OkoroBufo: A man under who Anambra state University went on strike for over 6months lacks the moral justification to talk about ASUU strike. Peter Obi broke every worst records as Governor of Anambra state.
-Okoro bufo
And he resolved the matter once and for all. Anambra state university is in session right now while the rest of the country is on strike
Mega2biz: That's Omambala river, almost at the point where it joined with river Niger
I thought as much because the northern shoreline of the Niger towards anam is still unutilized because no bridge over Omanbala at the point of entry into the Niger. Out of the three Omanbala bridges one should have been sited at the confluence to open up Onitsha expansion towards vast empty lands in Anam instead of squeezing towards nsugbe
MetaPhysical: You are still using scale to compare.
The reason it is agreed that Yoruba is an ancient urban dweller, even ahead many European cultures, is because our cities comprise the full characteristics of an urban center.
I have written and gave my theory online that the word "urban" is etymologically derived from Yoruba word "Oba". If you want to see my contribution on cognates between Yoruba and Latin/Roman root words go to Nairaland Culture Section.
The characters of an urban settlement comprise geo-labels such as Upper; Lower; Cross or Tri; Center; Outer; Market; River; etc...
These characteristics are fully captured in every Yoruba town, such as Oke; Isale; Orita Merin (for cross) but Orita Meta (for tri); Arin; Ita; Oja; Odo; and so on. These characters are found to repeat in every Yoruba town. You will also find it exactly mirrored in foreign places Yoruba have settled. It is part of the culture.
Metropolitan buildup is foreign to us. The characters of metro or mega city are, Main Street or Broadway; City Hall; Mall; Boulevard; Waterfront or Marina; Bridges; Highways; Drainage & Waste treatment; Statues, and so on.
In contemporary times Ibadan is far much bigger urban city than Lagos is. Towns linked into towns are inside what we call Ibadan. Lagos does not have that.
Meanwhile, Lagos comprise all the characteristics of a mega or metro city, far more than Ibadan.
But Lagos is worst, just like brown roof exist everywhere but Ibadan is worst. There is no Igbo word for agbero, it's often corrupted to agboro in igbo accent. A clear evidence of where it originated from
Akpaka Forest Original planned to be a forest reserve near Onitsha by colonialists, the place was later mapped out for building due to rapid expansion of Onitsha. Few years later, forest gave way to mansions even when the roads are yet to paved
PROUDIGBO: Nice drone shots of a highbrow residential area by the banks of the Niger in Onitsha. This used to be Akpaka forest in colonial times, and it would have been nice if some remnants of the forest still remained. Everywhere seems to have been built on in the name of development.
Had i been incharge of planning and approving plots for development, i would have left that land between the river embankment and the road to be used as a well-tended open/green space with walkways and seats facing the river. Also, the inner roads of the GRA would be done better than what's seen in the clip....with streetlights, sidewalks and trees lining both sides of the road.
triple996: Bitter people you know that elrufai always complete his projects he is not like your abia state governor who used 7yrs to complete a center table
What is the poverty and literacy rate in Kaduna? How about security? Industrial output , cash in circulation etc. compared to Abia. Is governance only about unnecessary flyovers?

Tinubu's urchins are becoming more stewpid everyday. Which airport has a state government ever built in SW? we have already built 3 in South East (Owerri, Anambra, ebonyi)
