TGIF!!!

Congrats to all those who have secured their visas. Gentle reminder on the following:

1. Make arrangements for your airport pick up especially if your University provides such for free.
2. Book temporary hostel for a week or two if you intend living off campus * You may be required to present this at the point of entry
3. GNIB / IRP will cost you 300 euros in Ireland
4. Accommodation in Dublin and Cork costs 450 euros to 700 euros
5. New rules apply if you want to travel for holidays during your academics.
6. casual job is important , but relevant job experience is importanter.
7. You are required to have 3000 euros to process your IRP.

N.B: Academic work is intense abroad and quite different from what we've done in Nigeria thus, time management is very important.

Wishing you all success. The sky is just the beginning.
From us all at ICaS-Nigeria.
@ICaSNg
Can you please explain briefly this point 5 new rule of traveling during academics.

Thanks

TravelRe: Before You Come To Ireland!!! by mychellin: 6:14pm On Nov 17, 2018
Nice thread

Everything in life is about risk. A living in Nigeria is also another risk considering situation of things..joblessness, killings, insecurity, hopeless, crisis and so on.

The worst is the lack of way out and unseeming solution to situations raging the country. The hope for future and unborn child leads everyone to look for greener pastures outside there. Things are getting bad without hope here..those who know knows.

Pls, what advise do you have for someone planning to get student visa in Ireland with the hope of making a better leaving in future either in Ireland or cross to other country. Am talking of a family man with hope relocating family if everything works out later, at least to take his immediate family out of the current and unending crisis here.

Are you guys saying there has been our people out there successfully living a better life even at initial rough beginning. I need a matured advise please.

[quote author=partnerus post=72994108]Whatever I write now ........

Thanks @partner for your insightful response

I specifically interested about life after the 2 yrs post study stay. As a married man, can I invite family over during the 2 yrs stay. What's the possibility or faith of getting stayed beyond the 2 yrs post graduate employment or even PR. Do we have people there that had gone through above stages.

I got offer for next yr for Msc mgmt practice and I need to plan ahead.

Pls help expanciate on above 2 critical questions base on your experience staying there. Thanks

Certainly not possible. The best you can do is get money to pay house rent which is on the high side if you are in Dublin and then little extra as stipend. That is feeding, transportation and the rest. It all boils down to your spending habits. But the truth is, you can't use such proceed from part time work to pay for school fees. However, during vacation period, I will agree one can save quite reasonable amount of money since it's 40 hours a week but I don't think one can pay school fees out of it. Trust me, the cost of living is quite expensive here. It takes one to be extra disciplined in spending to save something reasonable.
@partnerus,
With your experience currently, what can you say about getting a job after programme there. Is there hope for reasons to stay back and to recoup fund with all academic stress experienced in Ireland.

Pls share your mind on this.

Getting a job after your masters depends on your skills and what you have to offer to the organisation. But there are several jobs available.

You are entitled to get 2yrs post graduate visa as long as you apply for it few months before you graduate i think.
Thanks MzDeeb as usual.

please my agent insists i can use the Jan offer for Sept admission since I actually selected Sept in my application. Am confused and need to urgent decision. Can use help clarify this claim as well. I count on your response.

Thanks.

@2, I'm only aware of the fact that a PhD student can bring his/her family along. For MSc? I doubt. But may be possible, like inviting some of your family members to come for your graduation shouldn't be an issue. I'll try to confirm this.
Thanks for your response.
Kindly help confirm if there is a way to use my Jan2019 offer for Sept 2019 admission. I actually requested for Sept but got Jan offer. I need to make urgent personal decision. Thanks

1. No you can't.. Apply when you are ready.. I'm sure they will give you another admission. Its no big deal

2.. I have no idea

3. Yea, you can get job easily here but mostly care jobs. Not office jobs. Your wages will be enough to take of feeding and transportation. I'm not sure about school fees
Thanks for the response.
Pls, what's your view about getting better job after schooling and opportunity of settling down in Dublin after 2 yrs post graduate visa. Pls share your knowledge base on experience there.

A student in Dublin or someone with experience should help with answers to this question. Any opportunity of settling down after 2 years post graduate visa.

My people....I urgently need help with clarifications below.

I got an offer to DBS for Jan 2019 intake. My target is against 2019 Sept due to personal plan. Now my questions.

1. Is it possible to use same jan offer for Sept admision as suggested by my agent.
2. I heard that is possible to invite my family to join me in Dublin close to the end of the programme as a family man.
3. Can I get a job that will earn me payment balance after the 6K Euro as student.

An experience student advise is urgently needed for a quick decision.
