Let’s talk about something uncomfortable.

How does a man like Solomon, the wisest and richest king in scripture, blessed directly by God; still raise a son that tears a kingdom apart in just a few days?

1 Kings 3:12 says:

“I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you…”

He built the temple. He wrote Proverbs. He had access to wisdom most leaders today would pray for.

Yet his son, Rehoboam, in 1 Kings 12, ignored wise counsel and made a decision that split Israel - 10 tribes gone almost instantly.

Now here’s where it gets uncomfortable.

Most parents today are judged harshly when one child goes off track.

But looking at Solomon and Rehoboam… I can’t help but ask:

Did Solomon really “fail” as a father? Or is something deeper at play here?

Because yes, Proverbs 22:6 says:

“Train up a child in the way he should go…”

But even Solomon himself later drifted:

“For when Solomon was old, his wives turned away his heart…” (1 Kings 11:4)

So even the “wisest” man wasn’t immune to internal collapse.

And Rehoboam?
Scripture simply says:

“He did evil because he did not set his heart to seek the Lord.” (2 Chronicles 12:14)

At some point… it wasn’t just about Solomon anymore. It became a personal decision.

Maybe parenting is more influence than control.

Ezekiel 18:20 already hints at that:

“The son shall not bear the guilt of the father…”

So here’s the hard question:

Can a good parent still raise a bad adult?

Is parenting really 100% responsible for outcomes?

At what point do we stop blaming upbringing and start confronting personal responsibility?

I’m not defending poor parenting.

I’m asking whether we sometimes place unrealistic expectations on parents who did their best… and still got a Rehoboam moment.

For the first time, these BATists are making a point worth listening to.

This should force a national conversation—not just about Peter Obi, Atiku or Amaechi—but about legality, common sense and the kind of constitutional democracy we want to build.

Peter Obi has consistently presented himself as someone who wants to play by the Constitution. Ironically, it is now the same constitutional ambiguities that can be turned against him.

The law exists for man; man does not exist for the law.

We the people cannot continue to be trapped by constitutional loopholes that frustrate progress while pretending that every outcome is acceptable simply because it can be defended legally.

Governors complain about control over security. Local governments fight for genuine financial autonomy. Communities in the Niger Delta still struggle to see justice over decades of oil exploitation. Courts make far-reaching political decisions on technical grounds. Institutions keep stretching constitutional provisions to justify outcomes that leave citizens wondering whether justice was actually served.

We normalize these things when they happen to "the other side." Then one day, the same precedent comes for our own.

We the people have to decide when enough is enough. We need a Constitution that reflects today's realities, protects democracy, and works for everyone—not just one party or one administration.

If the service is great, good for you.
Great customer service leads to continuous patronage.

Tipping just depends on how the customer feels at the time.
No matter how great and exceptional your service is, it's primarily for the good of your own business.
No worker DESERVES a tip.
They DESERVE pay rise from their boss.
Saying they Deserve it, puts customers under undue pressure to guilt-tip.
