PoliticsRe: Terrorists, Bandits Are Not Foreigners. They’re From The North - Shehu Sani by MyExpression(m): 9:30am On Jan 20
Inspiration2017:
Terrorists, Bandits Are Not Foreigners. They’re From The North

Based on Senator Shehu Sani's statements, several key points can be deduced:

Main Argument:
Sani is pushing back against a common narrative that attributes Nigeria's insecurity to foreign actors. He insists the terrorists and bandits are indigenous to northern Nigeria, speaking local languages (Fulani, Hausa, Kanuri) and are primarily from the communities they terrorize.

Implications of his position:

Accountability: By identifying the problem as internal rather than external, he's calling for northern leaders to take direct ownership of the solution rather than deflecting blame to foreign infiltrators.

Scale assessment: His claim that there are only about 5,000 active fighters suggests the problem, while serious, may be more manageable than portrayed - implying that political will and proper strategy could make a significant difference.

Political courage: This is a fairly bold stance in Nigerian politics, where the "foreign fighters" narrative has often been used to explain away local grievances, ethnic tensions, and governance failures that may fuel recruitment into armed groups.

Root causes: His framing suggests the violence stems from internal issues within northern Nigeria - potentially poverty, marginalization, ethnic conflicts, or political grievances - rather than external jihadist expansion.

Potential controversies: His ethnic/religious specificity ("they are Muslims," "they are Fulani"wink could be seen as either honest truth-telling or as potentially inflammatory, depending on one's perspective.
Based on the emboldened, this could also be an attempt to humanise the terrorists and halt the US bombings...to sue for amnesty et al.

That was clearly a fairplay.
Football has become so political since the time Ronaldo underperformed, just so Brazil could host the next bid.

I also thought Chukwueze was coerced to lose that penalty so Morocco can get to the finals...even though they verily deserved to win that match.

2. Why would a professional latch unto an external object for mental stimulation.

Okada airline.

I learnt this a second time, the day I had an interview with A transport company.
I wanted to pitch the management on how we'd be the first transport company to own their dedicated cargo airline flying across Nigeria.

I googled it and found Okada airline, and Concord airline.
I still used the pitch, and I did get the job.

Court grants amicable marriage dissolution.

Adultery isn't grounds for divorce.

People divorce for irreconcilable differences...adultery is a factor in irreconcilable difference, not the irreconcilable difference itself.

Igboland suffers from the fact that our best and brightest do not involve themselves with local affairs, especially politics, but Otti is an exception.
A normal civilized Igboman will not function like a typical nigerian politician. Our politicians are not in the top 90% of most competent people in our society. Someone like Hope Uzodimma is not in the top 5000 people in his own town. We have many like Otti, but getting them interested in our development is the challenge.

Benin Republic sells cement cheaper than it is sold in Nigeria, despite our reserve of natural resources and internal production.

SportsCAF Moves AFCON To Four-year Cycle, Adds Annual Nations League by MyExpression(op): 10:32am On Dec 21, 2025
CAF President Patrice Motsepe reveals that the AFCON will shift to a four-year cycle.
After the AFCON 2027 in Uganda , Kenya and Tanzania , the continental competition will be played the following year in 2028, 2032, 2036 etc.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will move the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to a four-year cycle after the 2028 edition and introduce an annual African Nations League from 2029 to align with the global football calendar. The decision aims to ease conflicts with European clubs over player availability and increase commercial appeal.

New Competition Structure

Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) The tournament, traditionally held every two years since 1968, will have editions in 2027 and 2028, and then the subsequent tournament will be in 2032, moving to a quadrennial schedule thereafter.
The winner's prize money has been increased to $10 million starting from the 2025 edition.

African Nations League
This new annual competition will commence from 2029 and is designed to provide regular, competitive matches for all 54 African nations.
The nations will be split into regional zones, with matches primarily played in the September, October, and November international windows, and the finals in November.
This competition is expected to generate new annual revenue streams to compensate for the reduced frequency of the AFCON.

BusinessRe: Lagos Frets Over Planned Reactivation Of Other Ports by MyExpression(m): 9:56pm On Dec 16, 2025
aribisala0:
I cannot respond if you don't communicate what is your point here?
I already answered what I meant by congestion, and I’ve moved past that point.

The headline was about the federal decision to activate other ports, and my response was that it’s a good national move — not a verdict on whether Lagos is capable or not.

Comparing Lagos to Rotterdam, Lomé or Felixstowe shifts the discussion from national logistics policy to a Lagos-only performance debate, which wasn’t my argument.

Even if Lagos could handle more volume, decentralising port activity is still economically and politically sound. Port policy is federal, regional demands are political, and infrastructure decisions should be made within a national logistics and infrastructure plan, not on the assumption that one state must absorb everything.

That’s the point I’m making.
BusinessRe: Lagos Frets Over Planned Reactivation Of Other Ports by MyExpression(m):
aribisala0:
You don't know what you are talking about

Two things
1. Ease of clearing goods
2 Human and vehicular traffic around Lagos

What is responsible for the ease or lack of ease in clearing goods in Lagos and how is that congestion
Is it easier to clear goods at Onne

You have not told us what that has got to do with human and vehicular traffic around Lagos

You gave no facts or figures but I will give you some

1. FELIXSTOWE. is a town in the
United Kingdom it has a population under 30000. Processes About ~4 million. TEUS ANNUALLY that is about 4 million 20ft containers

The whole of Nigeria every port combined is about 1.5 million Teus

Based on. That statistic One efficiently run port can handle more than double what we are doing with no delays and issues of human or vehicular traffic

You have not shown any evidence of a link between the port and human or vehicular traffic

2. Lome in 2024 di 2 million Teus
Again more than the whole of Nigeria combined

Does Lome have those so called congestion issues

I am sure a very large number of those containers passing through Lome end up in Nigeria
3. Rotterdam does about FOURTEEN MILLION TEUS. nearly 10 times the whole of Nigeria
There are about 700000 people in that city
4. Antwerp is similar to Rotterdam over 13 million Teus

FACT CHECK MY CLAIMS

So Logically what other reason beside the ports explains why Nigerians are migrating to Lagos state

The migration is even much greater since 1991 when Lagos state stopped hosting the federal capital

Lagos stateis the best governed state in Nigeria and many other states especially the SE and North are hopeless wastelands

Deal with reality and stop projecting

WHAT IS THE POPULATION OF LOME

Everything you say has no evidence it is imagination

For your own research if you want to learn go and check the following for Singapore and compare to Lagos
Land Mass
Population
TEUS annually
Lagos is clearly the best state in Nigeria, despite her plenty lapses ‐ that have even resulted to human and vehicular traffic, and clearly incompetent port operations management....as you have alluded to.
However you're missing the point when you drive an agenda.
The objective take would be to ask, who is responsible for such projects and policies to drive it?
Federal government or the state?
What about the geopolical regions as represented at the Senate?

Port congestion may not even be a major point for the overall success of Lagos state.

That notwithstanding, if the regions want ports also, let them have it, and run it efficiently.
Any State well sited can have a dry port at least.

It's about time the Nation builds an infrastructure development plan of where we want to be as a nation,

Please explain what you mean by congestion
Is this something you have heard others say or something you understand
In one or two sentences

What is congestion

What has congestion got to do with ports?
1 or 2 sentences...

The ease of clearing goods, as VDM complained, the human and vehicular traffic around Lagos as a whole, because every goods berths in Lagos can be eased, if other states carry the workload...
BusinessRe: Lagos Frets Over Planned Reactivation Of Other Ports by MyExpression(m): 3:38pm On Dec 15, 2025
This is the way to go.
Lagos is congested, and have proven over the year, to be incapable of managing the stress.
It's high time president Tinubu diversifies and grow the cou try as a whole.
Lagos isn't the only state with connected waterways
