Foreign goods will be cheaper because of mechanized production, cheaper labor, technological advancements and the likes.

This is why America is concerned about Chinese products.

Also why brands like Nike, Puma and the likes produce from factories in Vietnam instead of in the USA.

It took Obasanjo's banning of poultry imports before local producers could survive as imported products whose produce were cheaper were choking the local ones.

Same reason we also have rice mills, rice farms and the likes now. Because the importation has been banned and the local manufacturers can make profit. As time goes, they will be able to increase capacity and lower their prices
