By Gabriel Enogholase BENIN—A group, Midwest Movement, has threatened to declare Bendel Republic if the leadership of the country fails to play its constitutional role and entrench true federalism. The group said the proposed Bendel Republic is made up of Edo and Delta states and comprise 12 tribes that include Akoko-Edo, Esan, Benin, Etsako, Owan, Anionma, Ika, Ndokwa, Urhobo, Isoko, Ijaw and Itsekiri. The movement warned that should government continue to play the ostrich with the current agitations for restructuring, the Midwest region will resist all attempts to annex, attach or conscript it as part or any part of its near or far neighbours. The group said: “If the federation of Nigeria fails to hold under the weight of government’s inability to play its constitutional role and because of the reckless actions of ethnic jingoists, the Midwest territorial area shall employ, embrace and adopt every available international instrument, conventions and protocols to take its destiny in its hands as a territory to be called Bendel Republic or any name or appellation our people so choose to adopt.” Dr. Don Obaseki, Convener of the movement, in an eight-point demand in Benin, the Edo State capital yesterday, said the group was deeply concerned about the situation in the country, adding that “the federation of Nigeria is in dire crisis due to injustice, marginali-sation and flagrant violation of the terms agreed upon by its founding fathers.” …lists demands The group demanded, among others, “that government and representatives of the people in parliament to consciously heed the voices of reason on the call for a re-federalisation of the country, using all available constitutional means, while factoring the interests and aspirations of all ethnic nationalities in Nigeria; “That government and its officials refrain from and resist the temptation of casting all those calling for peaceful resolution of the current political impasse as mere appointment seekers; “Government should, as a matter of urgency, broaden its consultation and engagement with stakeholders of all ethnic nationalities, with a view to working out modalities to ease the current avoidable tension in the country.” Read more at: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/08/group-threatens-declare-bendel-republic/ |

Bruce Fein, Contributor Constitutional Scholar Nigerian Dictator Buhari’s U.N. Hypocrisies 09/21/2017 08:50 am ET Nigeria’s dictator Muhammadu Buhari expounded on the fatuous and doltishness punctuated with hypocrisy before the United States General Assembly on September 19, 2017. It is a safe bet that none ever wished it were longer. From beginning to end, Buhari’s words careened between banality, imbecility, hypocrisy, and deceit. Only the major flaws in his thinking will be exposed as a concession to the shortness of life. Buhari cynically insisted that he spoke on behalf of the “people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.” He was elected pursuant to an illegitimate constitution decreed by a military dictatorship in 1999. The “people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria” have never approved it. Moreover, as Buhari was speaking, he was simultaneously dispatching Nigeria’s armed forces and police to the South East to terrorize and plunder millions of Biafran Christians; and, endorsing a northern Nigerian Hausa-Fulani ultimatum to 11 million Biafrans working and living there to abandon their homes and businesses by October 1, 2017 or risk death or torture. Buhari no more represents Biafrans than a slave owner represents his slaves. Buhari’s desultory remarks were intended to conceal Nigeria’s tireless persecution of Biafrans since its birth from British colonialism in 1960. He absurdly maintained: “[W]e often forget that what we have accomplished in the last 72 years is unprecedented in the annals of human history.” Was it an “accomplishment” to deny Biafran self-determination in violation of United Nations decolonization resolutions? Was it an “accomplishment” for Nigeria to renege on its 1966 promise of Biafran autonomy? Was it an “accomplishment” for Nigeria to provoke the 1967-1970 horrifying Biafran War by systematic persecution of Igbos? While Buhari is slaughtering and immiserating Nigeria’s own Biafrans because of their Christianity and ethnicity, he made time to deplore Myanmar on its maltreatment of Rohingya Muslims as an anti-Muslim atrocity: “[T]he Myanmar crisis is very reminiscent of what happened in Bosnia in 1995 and in Rwanda in 1994.” In sum, Buhari cares more about non-Nigerian Muslims than he does about Nigerian Christians—which is treasonous to approximately half of Nigeria’s population. Buhari opined: “The world may be badly governed, but the fact that there is a form of governance agreed upon by all is an accomplishment in and of itself.” According to Buhari, bad governance—even genocidal governance—is always superior to the alternative. That nonsense on stilts would have shipwrecked the American Revolution. It is indistinguishable from the barbaric policy of “might makes right,” i.e., the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must. Dictator Buhari fails to understand that justice is the end of government. It is the end of civil society. It is constantly thundering like a hammer on an anvil to shake the foundations of every tyranny. A society under the forms of which the stronger faction can readily unite and oppress the weaker is the very definition of lawlessness. Buhari took hypocrisy to a new level in summoning the United Nations to “restructure” to remain “relevant” while fiercely crushing advocates for restructuring Nigeria around the unalienable right of all peoples to self-determination—including Biafrans held in bondage to Hausa-Fulani terrorists. Buhari also hypocritically sermonized, “As we have learned in Nigeria, sometimes you need to change in order to remain the same.” Every Biafran except the quisling Governors sitting in the South East must have laughed into tears at that monumental lie. Like the French Bourbon rulers on the eve of their destruction, Buhari forgets nothing and learns nothing. He aims to fossilize Nigeria’s politics. Buhari would profit by learning something more powerful than a gun. The clarion call of Amos 5: 24: “But let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.” http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_59c3b4eae4b0c87def883597 |

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has sought international protection against the Nigeria Army's "Operation Python Dance 11" which was the medium through which the Nigerian government made attempt on his life between 10th - 12th of September, 2017. The IPOB international team of legal representatives, which comprises the chambers of Fein & DelValle, PLLC, located at 300 New Jersey Avenue, Washington DC, and that of Alloy Ejimakor(Nigerian based Attorney, and IPOB General Counsel), on 11th September, 2017, petitioned the office of the chairman, Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on African Affairs (SFRAA), located at 423 Dirksen Senate Office Building Washington, D.C. 20510, over "the Nigerian government's authorized shootings and killings of Mr. Kanu's guests" at his home residence, Afara-Ukwu Ibeku, Umuahia. According to the team's media reporter, Greatson Nwadike, who spoke to IPOB Writers, IPOB leadership authorized the team to tender such petition before the US office that handles Africa's Affairs, to restrain the Nigerian government from the path of genocide it has chosen. According to the reporter: "After the invasion(of Nnamdi Kanu's home on Sunday by Nigerian Army), we contacted the leader and our US partners quickly approached the Congresses with petitions to order the Army to leave the home of our leader "We also made presentations at Geneva to the UN boss "Intel calls were (also) made yesterday and our Turkey friends equally put up Diplo references "In all, we are seeking international protection for Nnamdi Kanu "They seek to eliminate him but we are moving faster ahead of them "The only way to record success against these terrorists is when they see that the world is watching". Below is the petition before the US Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on African Affairs as made by IPOB team of lawyers: Re: Nnamdi Kanu impending Genocide of Nigeria's Igbo People Dear Mr. Chairman: On behalf of the 50 million Igbo people of Nigeria, organized under the umbrella of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), led by Nnamdi Kanu, the Nelson Mandela of Nigeria, this office together with Nigerian Barrister Aloy Ejimakor (IPOB general counsel) calls your attention to the Nigerian government's authorized shootings and killings of Mr. Kanu's guests at his home by elements of Nigerian Army late Sunday, September 10, 2017. We are convinced the Nigerian government intended to assassinate Mr Kanu because of his Igbo ancestry, Judaic religion, and political views. Its nefarious designs were thwarted by the unanticipated presence of numerous visitors to Mr Kanu at the time of his scheduled extrajudicial murder by the Nigerian Army under colour of Nigerian law. According to 10 credible Nigerian newspaper reports, many of the visitors were seriously wounded in the Army attack. Fatalities have been reported. Due to the developing nature of this incident, definitive information is unavailable at this time. But enough is known to justify an international response to prevent convulsion in Nigeria that would threaten international peace and security. Mr Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB have been peacefully protesting the systematic persecution of Igbos - who overwhelming Christians and Jewish -- by Muslim and Hausa-Fulani president Muhamadu Buhari and his murderous administration. (Twelve northern Nigeria States have adopted sharia as their legal code). They have been brutally attacked with lethal force by Nigerian Security to punish the exercise of their fundamental rights to freedom of speech, religion, and association. Credible sources, including Amnesty International, have confirmed that more than 100 unarmed Igbo/IPOB members have been murdered in separate incidents implicating the Nigeria Army. We represent legal representatives of ten of murdered or tortured victims in a Torture Victim Protection Act lawsuit currently pending before the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. But the lawsuit alone has not been sufficient to deter Nigeria's Muslim Hausa-Fulani government from seeking to exterminate 50 million Igbos because of their religion and ethnicity. The Nigerian government has tacitly endorsed a Hausa-Fulani plan in Northern Nigeria to expel 11 million Igbos and plunder their property beginning October 1, 2017. The earmarks of an impending genocide and failed state in Nigeria are unmistakable. We thus strongly urge you to consider employing all diplomatic tools at your disposal to communicate your concerns over the attempted September 10 assassination of Mr Kanu and ongoing Nigerian State terrorism against the 50 million Igbos. Among other things, we urge you to communicate your concerns to the Nigerian Embassy in Washington, D.C., the Nigerian Mission to the United Nations, and the Office of the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Abuja, Nigeria. See attached PDF file for the full petition. http://www.biafratoday.co/2017/09/army-invasion-us-lawyers-seek.html?m=1 |
