PoliticsPosition Of The Yoruba Self Determination Groups On The State Of The Nation by myright(op): 2:35pm On Jun 11, 2017
Position of the Yoruba Self Determination Groups on the State of the Nation MEDIA STATEMENT

The O’odua Nationalist Coalition ,(ONAC) has called on Yoruba people to prepare for their own sovereign nation in the face of the lingering problems and conflict built around the national question that has stunted the growth of Nigeria for over a century.

This conflict has again reared its head, 50 years after a civil war that inflicted pain and misery on the Yoruba people apart from distorting the development plan of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo for the South West.

ONAC is made up of 18 Pan Yoruba groups including the Oodua Peoples Congress, (OPC), Oodua Liberation Movement, (OLM), Oodua Republic Coalition, (ORC), Yoruba Revolutionary Congress, (YORC), Oodua Muslim-Christian Dialogue Group , (OMDG), Yoruba Students Nationalist Front, (YOSNF), Oodua Hunters Union, (OHUN) and 11 other groups. The statement was signed by Micheal Popoola, Oluwole Suleiman and Mrs Aduke Fadahunsi on behalf of the coalition.

The group called on Yoruba people in the territories of the Hausa-Fulani North to be guided by a strong sense of history and the fact that they will not be spared by those who claim to be their hosts. We advise them to begin to make alternative plans for the inevitable upheaval being promoted by the Fulani oligarchy.

The group said the North has always been the aggressor because of the region’s loss of power and the unhidden desire to make Nigeria the irreversible extension of the Fulani emirate. What we see is violent conflict of civilisations which can only be resolved when each region go her own way. In the bid to keep Nigeria as one country, millions of people have been killed and the lives of children wasted, the future pauperized and the potentials of Yoruba young men and women bottled or chained with fetters of iron.

“Today, we make the historic declaration that Yoruba people are ready for our own Oduduwa Republic. We have watched events these past days. The cloud is getting thicker. The poisonous rain appear ready to fall. It is time for the Yoruba people to be ready to defend our homeland from being seized by local imperial elements and their collaborators. We assert Yoruba self-determination and sovereignty. We shall work for it. We will actualize it,” ONAC said in the statement issued at the weekend.

The groups said the Yoruba people have suffered unprecedented hardship in the form of human and material destruction since 1960 when the country attained independence.

“Our leaders beginning from Chief Obafemi Awolowo were jailed on trumped up charges. 28 leaders of Yoruba were imprisoned unjustly. Chief M.K.O Abiola was murdered. The industrial bases built by Awolowo were destroyed by the military rookies appointed to control the South West region, our culture destroyed and the future of our young people put asunder. Today, many Yoruba people have become scavengers across the world fleeing from a hostile, bloodletting and malicious country that hold no promise of good and abundant life for the long suffering and exhausted population.

The group stated further “we call on Yoruba people all over the world to prepare for a sovereign nation for the people of the South West. We are over 50 million and far more than the population of 140 countries in the world. Yoruba will be the third biggest nation in Africa and about the 28th biggest nation in the world. We are big and knowledgeable enough to be a sovereign nation. We assert the Yoruba self-determination without any further delay.”

The Pan Yoruba group said with the position of Northern youths asking Igbo to quit the North, the outright demand for Arewa sovereignty by the Northern Elders Forum, (NEF), and the legitimate demand for Biafra by Igbo, the call for a Niger-Delta Republic “It is time for the Yoruba people to stand for Oodua Republic without any further delay. Yoruba people this time will not support any attack on Self determination. We shall mobilise the masses and prevent Yoruba people from being used for any attack on the long suffering indigenous peoples of the South East and the South- South"

ONAC said the quit notice issued by the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, (AYCF) and the Northern Elders Forum, (NEF) was not against the Igbo alone but also against the Yoruba since Igbo is not written on the forehead of residents in the North.

ONAC stated “ This is not the first time we have called for Oodua Republic. In April 2015, we organized a massive rally demanding for Oodua Republic. But today, this demand has become even more crucial than any other thing.

Those protesters are less than 1% of the igbo population and most have no jobs
except agitating for Biafra. So they don't represent the entire population.

The UN is not interested in dividing up countries unless there is a genuine reason(historical
or security) to do so and given that Trump is in the white house and he is championing the
America First mantra no UN referendum is ever happening any time soon. You can't just
blackmail the UN into doing your bidding.

Nigeria determines whether a referendum is to take place or not.

yes, the governments have the power to deport foreigners living in their countries. The thugs and street urchins don't have those rights. If the youth decides to deport them, it would surely leads to a xenophobic attack and looting of these foreigners properties.

ore, sovereignty belongs to the people. Those Biafrans you see on the streets protesting have the final say. Not some hungry politicians whose sole aim is to gather enough wealth for themselves and families. PoliticsReturn Home Now, Afenifere Tells Southerners by myright(op): 11:10am On Jun 10, 2017
Following the October 1 ultimatum issued by Arewa Youths Forum to the people of South-East origin living in the northern parts of the country to leave the region, the apex Yoruba socio-cultural organisation , Afenifere, has called on all Southerners resident there to start returning home.

Rising from an emergency meeting held by the group to discuss the state of the nation in Lagos on Thursday, Afenifere said all Southerners should see the quit notice not as meant for Igbo people alone, but the rest of their counterparts from the region.

Afenifere chieftain, Senator Femi Okurounmu who was present at the meeting told Saturday Sun that the quit notice by the Arewa youths should be taken serious in view of historical experience.

“This quit notice by the northern youths should not be seen by any wise Southerner as being meant for only people from the South-East, or that it is an empty threat. These northern youths meant business, and not only that, they have the backing of the northern elders, who have not only expressed their support for the youths, but have also affirmed their backing for the quit notice given to the South-Easterners. These Northerners should not be underrated, and one of the major reasons we are insisting that all Southerners should start coming back to the South now is that when these attacks on them begin, the Northerners will attack all Southerners. How are they going to be separate a Yoruba from Igbo? It is going to be difficult. Southerners shouldn’t be gullible. They should start coming home now. They should not wait until the end of the ultimatum. We don’t want a repeat of 1966-1967 pogrom, when hundreds of people of Southern origin, especially those from the South-East were massacred in the North.

Okurounmu further said that Southerners should not be deceived by the arrest order on the Arewa youths by the Inspector-General of Police, Idris Ibrahim and Kaduna State governor Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, saying such order was only meant to give Nigerians the impression that action was being taken to rein in the youths.

‘‘Have these Arewa youths not been walking the streets free since the Inspector-General of Police and Governor el-Rufai ordered their arrest? The IG is a hypocrite. When crisis broke out in Osun State recently among some Hausa and Yoruba youths, is it not this same IG that immediately under 24 hours of the crisis sent mobile policemen to arrest Yoruba youths, while he left out his Hausa kinsmen? Why is the IG now unable to arrest these Hausa-Fulani youths who issued the quit notice? We are just deceiving ourselves, there is no justice in Nigeria. When an Hausa-Fulani man kills another Nigerian, he has not committed an offence, but when another Nigerian kills Hausa-Fulani man, he has committed an offence and must be punished. That is the Nigeria of today for you’’, he remarked.

However, if Nigeria wants to break up, so be it, let it break up, if it wants to break up. Nigeria will not be the first country to break up . The defunct Soviet Union broke up, heavens did not fall, defunct Czechoslovakia broke up, heavens didn’t fall, and even in Africa, recently Southern Sudan broke away from Sudan and heavens didn’t fall. So, what’s the big deal if Nigeria breaks up? It is not compulsory that Nigerians should live together by force.

On its own part, Yoruba Unity Forum expressed concern over the development, describing the quit notice as not only provocative, but also a shameful act.

The forum, in a statement issued by its Secretary-General, Senator Anthony Adefuye, called for the immediate prosecution of the Arewa youths.

PoliticsCrises In Kaduna As Soldier Shot A Boy To Death- Pics by myright(op):
Arise News247 reports that a Muslim soldier has just shot a Christian Yoruba boy to death in front of Command Secondary School in Command Junction By Sabo Express Road, Kaduna.
An eye witness, Joshua Ayo, who spoke with Arise News247 Kaduna correspondent said that the boy was packing sand in front of the Military Secondary School called Command Secondary School when the soldier ordered him to stop.
Ayo added that, "the boy who is a Yoruba Christian pleaded with the soldier to allow him pack the sand to get something to eat today, since he was packing inside gutter that belongs to nobody."
Our source added that the soldier "got angry and shouted, 'Who the hell is this bloody civilian to argue with me?' and the boy was approaching him when the soldier again said, 'And you advancing towards me?' and before one could say Jack Robinson we heard gunshot and people around ran away, then another gunshot that attracted people from other places," Ayo lamented
He further explained that it was when other people started running down that those who were running away turned back to join them.
"On getting back to the spot, the soldier was nowhere to be found: we only met the lifeless body of the boy in the pool of his own blood stone dead." He concluded.
Arise News247 correspondent asked if there could be any other reason that might have incited the soldier to have shot the boy dead. Ayo said, that they know the soldier and they know he is a Muslim, adding that since the soldier may be fasting, may be the mention of packing sand to sell to eat provoked him.
All efforts to get the story from the side of the military was abortive as Christian youths have gathered massively in front of the gate of the Command Secondary School and barricaded the entrance demanding that the soldier who murdered the boy in cold blood should be brought out for jungle justice.
Also the roads in front of Command Secondary School leading to Sabo, Romi and Gonin-Gora have been barricaded restricting vehicular movement.
Arise News247 correspondent also approached the Police Officers who helplessly stood by their vans watching the scenario and sending radio messages. But the Police Officers declined comment on the issue that led to the killing of the boy, insisting that they have no information, because they didn't know what led to it, that they were only called upon to maintain order.
Suddenly, another set of truck loads of fully armed Police Officers arrived the scene in an intimidating manner. But the youths were unruffled as they advanced towards the Police asking them to start killing them.
One of them raised his voice and said that if any other civilian goes down then Kaduna will be on fire and some of the Policemen will not escape alive. He shouted, "This is a battle to finish!"
