This barbaric show of shame corroborates the narratives of the Arewa youths. A situation whereby a secessionist leader is being worshipped like a demi god with no corresponding reproof from those that matters, only suggests that the Kaduna declaration was in good faith.

I don't think these people would get sense in this our generation. what a big shame!
what do you mean by "those that matter"

Wow.

I think we should emulate this in the middle belt.
We need to learn the history of the TIV man, the Idoma man, the Igede man and what have you.

If this people begin to teach their history to their children, I can only smile at what will happened.

Somebody is thinking.
The good people of idoma and igede are eligible for this scholarship grants. In Biafra, the central government would be a government of every citizen of Biafraland regardless of your tribe

The only recognized government in the eastern region is IPOB. When we issue order, the citizens of Biafraland obey without any compulsion. If you doubt me, ask any of the so called state governments to declare a sit at home lets see if the people would obey

We are very rich, powerful and at the same time courageous. We got the backing of strong and dependable allies. What the zoo government cannot do(scholarship) is what we are doing. We shall unit the old eastern block and then send the zoological entity into the abyss. This is not 1960s. Nigeria, be warn

Tony Okafor, Awka

The Indigenous People of Biafra has asked schools in the area to teach history and geography of the region.

It said schools that would key to the course programmes would be given grants for scholarships.

A statement in Awka, Anambra State, by the media and publicity secretary of the group, Emma Powerful, said its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, had written schools in the area from nursery to university in that regard.

The statement read in part “The Indigenous People of Biafra under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has written and given instructions to every academic institution in Biafraland from nursery school to University to revert to original geography textbooks with Bight of Biafra in it.

“IPOB is also asking every school in Biafraland to commence the teaching of history especially pre-colonial Biafra and 1914 amalgamation.

It added, “Schools that sign up to this scheme will receive grants to assist them from scholars and IPOB worldwide.

“More so, IPOB under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is working with publishers of history and geography textbooks to commence the job to enhance effective work and to ensure the success of the scheme.

“The history teaching in Biafraland will focus on the genocide committed against the people of Biafra during the civil war in 1967 and 1970 while the geography teaching will focus on the removal of the Bight of Biafra by British and Nigerian Governments.

“The history also will teach on the child starvation as a weapon of war against Biafrans and the seizure of money and €20 given to Ndigbo after the war in 1970.

“The ancient map of Africa from 1662 till 1966 during the war of genocide against our people that consumed the lives of our women and children”.

Remember the Nigerian army was on the offensive, while the biafran army was on defensive. Biafran army were the ones hiding while the Nigeria army did not care, they just took territory after territory which led to loss of life. Also remember that we got our independence not too long ago, so the Nigerian army was still in a stage of building and modernising
and the Biafran government/army got their independence in 1900? Huh?

PoliticsBiafra: American Government Rejects Army Panel Report by myright(op): 4:41pm On Jun 17, 2017
The panel set up by the Nigerian army to investigate allegations of human right abuse levelled against some of its personnel on Friday said the US expressed dissatisfaction with its first report.

Nuhu Angbazo, chief of military/civil affairs, disclosed this during a press conference at the army headquarters on Friday.

Angbazo said based on the reaction of the US authorities, a special panel was set up to probe the allegations.

“Army headquarters conducted an investigation and disseminated the report to all relevant authorities, including the USA authority through the DA Washington,” he said.

“The USA, however, conveyed dissatisfaction with the report and requested that a more comprehensive inquiry be conducted. Thus a special BOI was constituted to investigate the allegations.”

The panel had been set up to investigate alleged human rights abuse levelled against the military by Amnesty International (AI).

In a report released earlier in the week, the panel had said the army was not guilty of the accusations but AI faulted the report, saying it was not thorough and also not independent.

However, Angbazo said findings of the panel showed how the process of investigating the detainees could be affected due to an inadequate number of investigators in the camps.

The panel’s report also revealed a small number of military police officers in charge of the detention camps in comparison with a large number of detainees.

“For example, at the Giwa Barracks detention facility, there was only one investigator allocated to a Boko Haram suspect,” the panel stated.

“We note that this limits the capability to extract max info from the suspects. Furthermore, this is contrary to global best practice of using a team of investigators including those from other relevant agencies to interrogate a suspect to determine culpability or otherwise.

“The board was concerned about the inmate to military police ratio especially in Giwa Barracks Detention facility, which holds high-profile inmates.

“The small number of handlers does not allow for relief of duties. This could result in fatigue or stress with predictable effects on the appropriate handling of detainees.”

It further noted that at the Giwa Barracks also, “there were 3,824 detainees… with 29 handlers monitoring the detention facility.”

The board also found out that a common feature evident in all the detention camps was the delay in the legal processing and trial of the detainees even as they were usually not allowed access to legal representation.

It regretted that releasing the detainees that had been cleared as having no case to answer is usually difficult due to lack of synergy between relevant agencies

“We note that this lack of coordination led to duplication of efforts which further compounded the congestion problem in these detention facilities,” the report further read.

On the alleged killing of some members of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB), the board noted that contrary to the allegations, key parties it met on the issue said there were no reports of such killings.

“The board interacted with the Anambra state governor, commissioner of police, state director of Department of State Service and some residents,” it added.

“They testified that no one was killed during the incident at Onitsha bridgehead. However, the police report showed that 14 people were arrested on the day.”

Biafra: Group to petition US govt over suit against Army Chief, 13 others

davidblawal

The National Committee of Yoruba Youth (NCYY), and the Coalition of Civil Society Groups against Terrorism in Nigeria, have concluded plans, to petition the embassy of the United States in Nigeria, over what it described as another, in the series of attempts, to interfere in the sovereignty of Nigeria, “by some ‘disgruntled’ Nigerians and external collaborators, who have chosen the USA, as an abode to carry out their orchestrated plans, against the Nation’s security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Army.”

The group, in a media briefing in Lagos on Wednesday, reacted to the decision of a United States (U.S.) District Court for the District of Columbia, which has granted leave to a group of 10 Biafran agitators to sue Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai, and 13 others for what it described as their complicity in the 2016 torture and extra-judicial killings of some Biafran protesters.

The group, through its President, Comrade Oladimeji Odeyemi, said it hoped to use the petition to remind the US Government that the activities of those persons, who now seek to hide under the US Judicial system, to distract Nigeria’s ongoing war against terrorism, separatist agitation and all forms of insurgency, had posed several security threats not just to Nigeria, but also to other countries of the world, including the United States.
Comrade Odeyemi said, contrary to claims by these persons, who he described as agent provocateurs that there is a continuous clamp down on Protesters and their families in Nigeria, it is the Biafra agitators, mainly from the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) sect, that have been harassing innocent Nigerians, at every given time, that they embark on their activities.

The group says it will also use the medium to mobilise for the support of the United States government and other international bodies to assist Nigeria in promoting and sustaining the peaceful atmosphere, currently being experienced in the country, as a result of the brilliant effort of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, coupled with the untiring commitment of the nation’s security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Army, under General Tukur Buratai, towards a total restoration of peace in most already troubled parts of the country.

“We wish to advise those persons and their political patrons, who think they can hide in foreign lands to truncate the ongoing process of sustaining our country’s Unity and mutual trust, to have a rethink and join in the ongoing process of building a new Nigeria.

“The Nigerian Army and its leadership have come of age and enjoys the massive solidarity and support of our people, who can now differentiate between what was obtainable in the past, and an Army, now built on quality service and integrity” Odeyemi summed.
