APC chieftain wants individuals to empower women, youths A MEMBER-ELECT of the House of Representatives from Kano State, Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya, has called on the in-coming administration of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari to slash up to 50 per cent the expenses of the Presidency and National Assembly, all with the intention of having enough resources to cater for the nation’s capital expenditure. In a media chat at his residence in Kano yesterday, Gaya, who was elected from Gaya/Ajing/Albasu Federal Constituency, urged all his colleagues and the in-coming President to come to term with his opinion. Until his election as member House of Representatives, Gaya was the erstwhile Commissioner for Finance in Kano State. He said: “In my opinion, I think it will be better for all the elected representatives, beginning from Mr. President to members of Parliament, ministers, other advisors and special assistants to agree that what we will be receiving is slashed to 50 per cent.” “Since we believe the country needs positive change, we should therefore accept it as such. The slash in the expenses should continue till when our dear nation gets better to execute capital projects, may be from the time we are inaugurated to another two years.” In another development, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, Baba Sharu Dala, has called on individuals to be more dedicated to youths and women’s empowerment programmes, with a view to further strengthening democratic consolidation in the society. Dala, who made the call at his empowerment project office along Northwest University Road in Kano during an empowerment development scheme he initiated for the underprivileged youths and women in his local council, said: “People should understand that government’s effort should be complemented by putting in some resources in the area of women and youths’ empowerment. It is by so doing that the issue of unemployment can be addressed drastically. “Our platform, Baba Sharu Vanguard Empowerment Scheme, found it extremely important to help our youths reposition their life through self-reliance.” Dala, who was a two-time Sole Administrator of Kabo and Ungogo local councils in the state, said that when individual members of the society realised the importance of making people self-reliant, it was the economy of the state that would be at the best advantage position. He, therefore, urged people to always appreciate what is offered to them by the state, saying: “It is not a hidden fact anymore that one of the most beneficial efforts by any government is to make her citizens self-reliant. This scheme is aimed at adding value to what our government is doing.” http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/2015/05/rep-elect-seeks-50-cut-in-presidency-nassembly-expenses/ http://www.naijablower.com/rep-elect-seeks-50-cut-in-presidency-nassembly-expenses/

JUSTICE Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Lagos, yesterday adjourned till Friday the hearing of all pending applications in a suit filed by senator-elect, Prince Kashamu Buruji, against the Inspector-General of Police and 11 others to forestall his extradition to the United States (U.S.) for alleged drug-related offences. The adjournment following an application to that effect by counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo, to enable him confirm which office of the agency (Lagos or Abuja) that was served. Respondents in the fundamental rights suit include the Chairman, Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Chairman, EFCC, Director-General, Department of State Security (DSS), the Interpol National Central Bureau (NCB) and the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF). Others are the Clerk of the National Assembly, the National Security Adviser to the President, the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). Oyedepo claimed that he was yet to get the processes filed by the applicant, and that it is not in the habit of the agency not to respond to any application filed against it. He therefore asked the court for a very shot adjournment to enable the anti-graft agency response to Buruju’s application, which he said would be in the interest of justice. He apologised to both the applicant and other respondents for stalling yesterday’s proceedings. However, counsel to the applicant, Dr. Alex Izinyon (SAN), urged the court to discountenance the EFCC application on the ground that the matter before the court needed to be determined expeditiously. He argued that there was not any material fact before the court to make it exercise its discretion in favour of the EFCC and that since the EFCC had conceded that it was served and failed to respond after the 12 days stipulated by Order 8 Rule 3 of the court, such did not make room for extension of time. Nevertheless, other respondents in the suit who have filed their responses and objections to the suit did not raise any objection to the anti-graft body’s application. Consequently, Justice Abang adjourned hearing on all pending applications in the matter till May 8. Buruji, a chieftain of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in a 92-paragraph affidavit sworn and deposed to by himself and filed before the court by two SANs, Dr. Alex Izinyon and Ricky Tarfa, averred that he was incarcerated in Brixton Prisons in London from January 10, 1998 till January10, 2003, when he was freed in a judgment delivered by the Bow Street Magistrate, London, presided by the District Judge, Tim Workman. According to him, the judge held that the allegations by the U.S. authorities against him with regard to importation of narcotics into the U.S. involved a case of mistaken identity and there was no “prima facie” case that he was the person referred to as Alaji by those apprehended in the U.S., who had indicated that they had a West African collaborator. Consequently, the judge set aside the committal order. He also stated that after the judgment, which was delivered on October 6, 2000, he was re-arrested and brought to face the second extradition proceedings, which the U.S. authorities had commenced before the judgment of the high court, and that Justice Tim Workman, giving the second extradition judgment on January 10, 2003, equally released him and he returned to Nigeria to start his business. Buruji stated that thereafter, he was lured to join politics because of his philanthropic activities through his Omo-Ilu Foundation, but that his political activities have brought him some powerful enemies, including his erstwhile political leader and Nigeria’s former president, Olusegun Obasanjo. In the affidavit, he alleged further that he and Obasanjo were political allies between 2009 and 2012 when he worked for the former president and his candidate for governorship of Ogun State, Gen. Tunji Olurin (rtd), but that he, however, fell out with Obasanjo because of his (Buruju’s) stand for internal democracy in the PDP. According to him, every attempt to stop his progress politically has been made, including intense propaganda against him, which tended to give impression that he had been convicted for drug-related offences in the United Kingdom or U.S. He stated that the INTERPOL had also been invited to investigate him on the basis of these allegations in 2008 and on conclusion, published a report dated March 4, 2008, which stated that he was never declared wanted, and after which he was constrained to issue several press statements. The applicant further alleged that his lawyer, Ajibola Oluyede, informed him in October 2014 that on a flight to Abuja from Lagos, a colleague, Godwin Obla (SAN) who is very close to the Attorney-General of the Federation, informed him of the tremendous pressure that Obasanjo was bringing on the AGF for his extradition. He added that and in one of the discussions between the AGF and Obasanjo, which Obla witnessed, the former president boasted that he was making arrangement with some U.S. officials in the region to have him abducted and flown in a private jet to the U.S. Obla, he said, then advised Oluyede to warn him to be very careful. Upon discreet inquiries, he stated, he found out that indeed there had been moves by U.S. officials within the region to secure the assistance of the head of Interpol division in the office of then Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, now acting Inspector-General of Police, for his arrest and delivery to the U.S. officials for movement to the U.S. without due process required by the Nigerian Extradition Act. http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/2015/05/hearing-continues-may-8-in-burujis-anti-extradition-suit/ http://www.naijablower.com/hearing-continues-may-8-in-burujis-anti-extradition-suit/

NgeneUkwenu:Waoooo. Madam where have you been? Missed your post. You are welcome. |
The way things are going for pdp.I'm afraid they can NEVER return to limelight. Because it is fast becoming a regional party, same level with kowa party. How the mighty has fallen..... |
Waoooooh! A nice write up. I read everything from A-Z. Though, a Yoruba guy, I didnt know much about Mbaise people generally, I have this passion for Imo state girls immediately after my NYSC service. I got obssessed with them. N.B: I would love to marry from a simple, decent and intelligent girl from Imo state. ***Still waiting*** |
fritiyo:You dont have to be sorry, it is meant for that purpose. I am NOT defending Amosun whatsoever, infact he has a lot shady things he's doing but those are for another day. We have heard of complaints from various APC states like Oyo, Osun, Imo etc which means they are not meeting the expectation of their people in one way or the other, but what I'm oppose to is trying to take unjust advantage of others as stated in my rebuttal. So in no way I'm I defending Amosun infact I am apolitical. If any clarification is needed, please feel free to quote me. Thanks |
Holatunde007:Guy but why are you deceiving people here. I am also living in the same Abeokuta kemta estate precisely. Listen everybody before this guy misleads and willfully amass enemy for Amosun much to his personal gain. This road and almost half of other roads in Abeokuta are undergoing serious reconstruction at the same time. There are few once he's through with while many are still under work (a case study of the one he snapped). As at now (9:23)that I'm typing, its still raining heavily so what are you expecting? This is a road I pass through Isale Igbein to post office almost everyday. This construction suppose to have been completed since last year but federal allocation stopped coming since mid last year so the state has to engage in selection operation on point of highest needs because there are other needs like payments of state workers etc. I appreciate criticism but NEVER take an undue advantage of others which you are trying to do here. Let me ask you this; Have you sincerely ask yourself if this is done with right motive or not. |
Ozigbondu:You are damn ugly in this pix bring another let me have a good look at you. |
abduljabbar4:As in, I thought I was the only person who noticed that. No standard. They always along with their sentimental soul. Peeps like ozoigbondu, severus snape, mogidi, showyourcertificate definitely allow a willful ignorance to take toll on them. But I want to assure all of them that people recognise more the hypocrisy of their mind. People can differentiate black and white irrespective of how bad you want to paint a good, laudable, landmark steps. |
Abeg give me a mainstream sauce before.I van beliebe this news. |
Imagine the height of corruption Gej swims in. Remember, this is a woman that was summon by the house of representatives TWICE to look into the financial allegation surrounding her but the president said she shouldn't go. This is the same woman who never deem it fits to return this money after serious crying by nigerians. Now what making her to return the money now -- the fear of what GMB can do. No froggy, kirikiri is your new residence and ALL well meaning Nigerian MUST ensure this is realised. OLE! OLOSHO |
temitemi1:Waooo. This is your longest post on nairaland. I challenge you to come out and discuss issues aside spewing GEJ...... FAYOSE........ just like your other comrades. I always think you are not really that .....really....really... you know.....I for say you are not smart. **oh my bad*** |

SalesConsultant:How will I reply? |
SalesConsultant:Hello sir, I didnt any mail in my inbox since weeks now. How do I go about it? Thanks |
I, for too many reasons will never take chino serious lae lae. In case you do not know, he breath hatred for anything owned, pilot and oversee by southwesterners. I have been observing him at least 2 good years now. This is a guy who if noticed a southwest name prop up from the western world as an achiever ran through the net to bring up a south easterner who has achieved something( thereby creating a counter thread) so as to water down the original thread. Do you remember you online active role in Edo state election? Your vox pop in Osun state election (the old women who told you its Ebele party or nothing). That being said about your antecedents. YOU ARE ONLY HATING ON AMAECHI BECAUSE HE BELONG TO APC so all your write up stinks age of frustration and anger which will NEVER make you a better person. Amaechi might have lost River state which personally I wouldn't support the idea of going to tribunal because evem in war, you'll win some and lose some. For your information Amaechi as an individual has more stake and respect in this PRESENT GOVERNMENT than opposition ANY politician in the whole of south south and south east. Despite the no nonsense stands of the new administration, Amaechi will be rewarded with a juicy office so his effect will be felt everywhere (you know yourself he's a performer). You might not want to acknowledge it openly, but Amaechi is the man worthy of emulation. Your view presently is beclouded by sentiments. Lastly, whether you like it or not, whether ANY south south opposition like it or not, he is the new LANDLORD OF SOUTH SOUTH to be calling the SHOT. Lets wait and see.... |
raumdeuter:Awolowo was there. I have the video and the pix taken at Aburi. But I'm telling you, that self centered monster called Ojukwu could have been worst than Adolf hitler. I read your post a lot. Keep it up. |
waleski:PLEASE HOW CAN I GET THAT BOOK? |
A PURE MISCHIEF FROM THE OP. LOOK AT THE ARTICLE TITLE AND LOOK AT OP TITLE. DO YOU NOTICE SOMETHING IS WRONG SOMEWHERE? OP IS A DIVISIVE PERSON WHO NEVER WANTS THIS NEW ADMINISTRATION TO SUCCEED, ALSO GOING BY HIS ANTECEDENTS. |
I really don't believe this report in its entirety. REASON: Why did the reporter play down on the impact of Gen. Abdusalam Abubakar with his team like Cardinal Onaiyekan etc. Cardinal was had an interview on radio nigeria just last Saturday (4/4/2015). He explained what they all did include calling the president from time to time and reassuring him. The whole slept at Aso villa the day prior to election, discussing with the president to late night. Immediately the tides was favouring Buhari, they put a call to GEJ to ask what he will do now? To their greatest surprise, the president said "I just put a call to him now". 'Everybody in the room started praising God in their language' Onaiyekan said. Immediately they ALL move to Aso villa to congratulate the president. If Abubakar hadnt play foremost lead in this, why did Maduekwe and co all rushing to him so as plead on their behalf for soft landing. Honour should be giving to whom its due. |
ishiamu:ISHIAMU.....ISHIAMU. HOW MARKET NA? SO YOU ARE NOT A PROGRAMMED ROBOT. OLUWA OOO I'M SURPRISE YOU CAN SAY ANYTHING MORE THAN: BUHARI IS ......... OSINBAJO IS ....... ROCHAS IS ........ AMAECHI IS......... OGA OPIAKU ALIAS MANY NAME (ABUBAKARAZIZ, DEVILHIMSELF, BLOODYKILLER, BLOODYASSASIN, BLOODYDEMON, BLOODYVIPER, EWU, OTU NNE) **ON A SERIOUS NOTE*** I HATE HOW YOU FRUSTRATE BEREM TO DEACTIVATE THAT MONIKER. |
Eden007:E SUNKUN SABO |
I get pissed every time I see "Jonathan is the best president slogan". Well, Yoruba will say 'Ojo yi ko ti ro tan, e ni ko to ti ana' meaning this is just the beginning of a rainfall and yet you are concluding its lesser than yesterdays. Lets see what another person will do if in just two month he wont erase GEJ's mediocre achievement and name off history book. |
I'M SO HAPPY WITH THIS DEVELOPMENT. PDP/GEJ SHOOTING THEMSELVES IN THE FOOT WITH THE SIX WEEKS EXTENSION. PREDICTION!! MORE GOVERNORS ARE COMING INTO THE FOLD TOMORROW. JOCKER CARD. WATCH OUT!!!!!! |
A FRIEND OF MINE WHO WORKS WITH A POPULAR RADIO STATION WAS THERE, HE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO ASK HIM "MR. PRESIDENT, ARE YOU AWARE PEOPLE ARE ANGRY WITH YOU? HE SAID " BUT WHY? YOU AND EVERYBODY KNOWS MY GOVERNMENT IS WORKING SO I SEE NO REASON FOR ANYBODY TO BE ANGRY WITH ME". IF THIS GUY HAS ANOTHER FOUR YEARS!!!!DAMN. WE WILL ALL BE DEAD. BECAUSE HE DOESNT KNOW ANYTHING |
YES |
I HEARD THIS ON PRESS REPORT DISCUSSION SEGMENT THIS MORNING - SOMETHING IS BREWING WITH MUAZU EXIT, PDP/GEJ HAS GONE FASTER DOWN THAN THEY SHOULD. THOUGH NEVER PRAY FOR HIS EXIT SO PDP CAN BE DEFEATED WITH CLEAR MARGIN. THIS IS WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU ARE BUSY MINDING THE AFFAIRS OF YOUR OPPONENT AND PAY NO ATTENTION TO YOUR OWN HOUSE, SO MUCH FOR ISSUE BASE CAMPAIGN. MORE IN STORE FOR YOU. LOUSY SET OF DERANGE INDIVIDUALS. |
Sobeautiful:Do you have prove to your allegation "that they say". Madam come off it you are already or would be a mother someday. Lets see everything truthfully as it is not viewing with ethnic colored prism. |
