What could have breached the palpable peace in Ukpor town, Nnewi South LGA, Anambra state was averted on Sunday, June 18th when a 'whistle blower' revealed to a particular family who owns a farmland at Umudim village, beside Gate of heaven mortuary, along Onuselogu road that he saw a man(name withheld by us) burying what looked like dangerous charms in their farm when he decided to answer the call of nature in the bush.

The owner of the farm immediately alerted his son who resides in Onitsha on what happened.

According to our correspondent, before 7am on Sunday, his son arrived Ukpor in anger and vowed to deal with whoever that was involved in such act. The whistle blower was called upon and reminded about the consequences of false information but he sworn with their village deity that he saw the man burying the charm.

Just like Nollywood movies, the owner of the farm with his son accompanied by few other people immediately proceeded to the house of the man who was accused of burying the charms.

On getting there, the man denied ever engaging in such act but claimed that one of his friends from Nnewi begged him to use the place for something he 'wasn't aware of' the previous day. A delegation was sent to Nnewi to get the man but he was said to have ran away when he saw people 'invading' his house in a suspicious manner.

What Have You Learnt From Your Dad That Gets You Going.

The accused was queried on why he allowed someone to use a land that doesn't belong to him but he claimed the man said he saw something interesting in the land and that's probably why he decided to use it.

In a twinkle of an eye, the "whole of Ukpor" gathered in Umudim waiting for the drama to unfold.

The youths equally gathered in their numbers and threatened to beat him up if he didn't want to say the truth.

Our correspondent said the man later confessed that he actually buried the charms there with the help of other 3 native doctors. He equally agreed to exhume them if only the youth would spare his life.

CrimeI Didn’t Know He Was This Rich, the Highest He Gave To Me Was N200k - Evan's Wife by naaija(op): 11:11am On Jun 17, 2017
…I didn’t know he was into crime …He took part in our daily prayers and always prayed Psalm 23

…His wealth should be sold off and given to his victims

…I didn’t know he was this rich, the highest he gave to me was N200,000

…Please, forgive him for the sake of myself and the children

The call was a surprise. And in the words of our Crime Editor, Emma Nnadozie “it was shocking but revealing and even pathetic.” The caller had said “hold on for Evans’ wife.” The female voice quickly pleaded to Mr. Nnadozie to call her back as she did not have enough credit. Nnadozie returned the call from Ghana and the caller told her story.
Excerpts: Evans wife, Uchenna and kids My name is Uchenna Precious Onwuamadike, the wife of the Chikwudubem Onwuamadike who you call Evans. I am 31 years old. I got married to Evans at the age of 17 at Oraifite, Anambra state in 2004.

He met me while I was coming back from lesson as a student of All Saints Secondary School, Oraifite and I was in class 6 going to take my West African Examination. After we met, I agreed to go with him because of my poor background. He told me his father married three wives when he was six years old and threw his mother out of his house. He said that one of the wives influenced his father to drive them out of his house also and they were forced to stay with outsiders. Evans was taken to his grandmother who trained him. He told me his father accused the mother of being adulterous before driving her out of his house. Our marriage is blessed with five children. Our first issue is 12 years plus and her name us Udochukwu.

LESSSON: See How Evans Statements Imply People Grow In Crime

After we got married, he said I should stay with his mother in his village at Akanmiri, Umudim, Nnewi to teach me how to be a good housewife. I was there for three years before he took me to Lagos. We were living at Satellite town in 2006 and after one year, he relocated us back to the village because he could not pay house rent. While in the village, he normally came to see us. We spent three years in the village and relocated to Ghana. On our way to Ghana, we passed through Lagos and stayed at Benny Hotels in Festac where we spent two days before travelling to Ghana.

He spent a month with us in Ghana before coming back to Lagos. I was pregnant with our fourth child in 2010 when he left for Nigeria to come back in two months time. After I gave birth, he came back four months later and was able to clear the accumulated bills we kept for him because I borrowed money from friends to clear hospital bill. When he came back, he complained bitterly that things were rough for him in Nigeria and that customs seized his goods. I was not aware that he was into kidnapping and all the criminal acts he is being associated with now. All I know about his business is that he was into haulage, buying engine and spare parts for trucks and imports exhaust pipes. That was what he told me.

Ikenga Nnewi Responsible For Evans Failed Powers

The reason he kept me in Ghana was because he said our children should get quality education. I have spent six years here and after I stopped hearing from him, I called and complained bitterly but he said I should stay for some time. I then called his friend, Okechukwu, who now lives in China. He told me that he has not been seeing him and that he spends most of his time with a girlfriend in Festac. When I called him to complain, he was angry with me and warned that I should stop listening to gossip. He said that If I should return, I should go to his younger brother’s house in Lagos until he is ready to get accommodation for us. The brother was formally living in Lagos but he is in Brazil now. So, when it was impossible to pay my children’s school fees, I packed my bags and baggage and came back to Lagos with our children. We stayed at his brother’s house at Agric, close to Trade Fair until he took us to a house in Magodo where he claimed he owed rent pending the completion of his own house there. We have spent just one year in that house in Magodo.
evans deity

I have no idea of the type of business he was into but he told me that his friends overseas used to buy phones and jewelries for him. EVANS While in Lagos, i was idle and I pressured him to find something for me to do and he promised to do that. Several times, I asked him to take me to his office but he said they move from place to place to offload goods in haulage business and share profits. I can’t remember having any visitor in our house. It is only the agent called Sunny that helped us to pack into our house that I know. At times, artisans come to do one repair or the other, that’s all. I don’t know any of his friends and if we were invited to parties, he would not allow us to attend. He told me that he has no friends and that he hates associating with people. I was always indoors because he warned me to beware of Lagos women that they are wayward. I was staying indoors and it was only when I was sick that he took me to a hospital in Ikeja. I always have BP and it makes weak.

We went back to Ghana on the 6th of this month and he promised to join us in no distant time. On the 9th, I called him to know when he would be coming and even the youngest of our children was crying, begging him to come as soon as possible and he promised to come. In the afternoon, I called but he was not picking. I called again, there was noise in the background and the line was switched off. I then called the driver that took us to the motor pack when we were going to Ghana and he told me that there was a problem, that police came and arrested Oga and that they came with a fair complexioned lady.

When I heard all the allegations against him, I called his brother in Ghana, his mother, father and other relations but I could not get them. I then called their last born, a student at Oko Polytechnic but he said he had not spoken with him for long. I was confused until I opened Niger news and Vanguard Websites. That was how I got the shocking news about my husband. I collapsed and later called my kids to inform them what I just read about their father. Since then, I have not eaten, I am still in shock.

Some others like radiobiafralive on twitter @radiobiafralive peddled and claimed Erkahraman is the Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, but comparing the official picture of the Turkish ambassador and Kanu's visitor suggests otherwise.

PoliticsOsibanjo Talks With Buhari Everyday - Lai Mohammed by naaija(op): 8:08pm On Jun 15, 2017
Mr Mohammed said this when he appeared on Politics Today on Channels Television.

Asked if President Buhari is in support of the meetings the Acting President is having with leaders of the North and South East amid growing tension in both regions, the minister said there is no concern about that.

He said, “The Acting President is daily in touch with Mr President so I am very confident that Mr President is in the full know of what the Acting President is doing and there is so much trust between the acting president and the president I don’t think there should be an area of concern at all.”

On the calls for the restructuring of Nigeria, Mr Mohammed said that was not a priority for the government.

He said, “I have said at several fora that the priority of government right now is to keep this government one and safe. The priority is to revamp the economy and the priority of this government right now is to ensure that we fight corruption and that we put this country on a very stable footing. The issue of restructuring might come later but right now it is not on our front burner

According to a report by Punch, the mass redeployment of the policemen was authorised through a signal from the Force headquarters dated April 2,2017, signed by the Commissioner of Police, Welfare, Posi Ajunwa. CrimeRetired School Principal Commits Suicide Over Non-payment Of Pension In Imo by naaija(op): 12:08pm On Jun 13, 2017
A retired school principal in Imo State, Mr. Stephen Nnadi, has reportedly committed suicide. He reportedly took his life following the failure of government to pay his pensions and gratuity.

The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Orlu, Most Rev. Bennett Okoro, announced the pensioner’s death in an emotion-laden 85-page presidential address, delivered during this year’s synodOkoro said, “A former school principal, Stephen Nnadi, who retired from the Imo State school system last December, committed suicide last week.”

The cleric further disclosed that the late retired school principal had reportedly complained on several occasions that life was becoming increasingly difficult and unbearable for him since he retired last year from the state school system.

“The reason was that he had not been paid pension and gratuity since retirement and could not take care of his family and he felt he was a failure,” Okoro added.

Okoro equally narrated how another suicide bid was averted in the state, following his intervention, even as he gave a graphic detail of how the jobless and frustrated man visited and pointedly told him (Okoro) that he was going to hang himself.

The Archbishop recalled that after prayer and counseling, the man was later given some money and food items, even as he maintained that joblessness and hunger were his major worries.

Okoro therefore appealed to the Imo State Government to not only pay the pensioners, but to also drop any idea of asking the senior citizens to sign off part or all their entitlements.

He suggested that if the current administration was not able to pay them, the financial burden should be left for the next administration.

HealthIvorian Midfielder, former Newcastle and Ivory Coast midfie Cheick Tiote Is Dead by naaija(op): 8:51pm On Jun 05, 2017
Cheick Tiote, a former Newcastle and Ivory Coast midfielder, has died after collapsing in training with a Chinese team. He was 30.
Tiote was four months into a new career at Beijing Enterprises when his death was announced on Monday by agent Emanuele Palladino.
“We cannot say any more at the moment and we request that his family’s privacy be respected at this difficult time,” Palladino said. “We ask for all your prayers.”
Tiote moved to Newcastle from FC Twente in 2010 and made 161 appearances, scoring once — a memorable equalizer in 2011 when his team recovered from 4-0 down to draw 4-4 with Arsenal.
Rafa Benitez, Tiote’s former manager at Newcastle, paid tribute to his character.
“In all the time that I have known him, he was a true professional, dedicated and, above all, a great man,” Benitez said. “Our hearts go out to his family and friends at such a sad time.”
Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany, who played with Tiote at Dutch club Anderlecht, tweeted: “Cheick Tiote was one of the nicest and toughest teammates I have ever had.”

PoliticsOur Ancestors Believed That People Without Memory Have No Future.- Obiano by naaija(op): 1:56pm On May 30, 2017
50 MESSAGES EXTRACTED FROM WILLIE OBIANO'S SPEECH ON BIAFRA AT 50 EVENT

1. My brothers and sisters, today is a great day in our collective memory.

2. Today, we begin the symbolic effort of casting a long look backwards, beyond the immediate horizon of our national experience, to honour the memories of our loved ones who lost their lives to the various dark chapters of our national history.

3. In doing this, we are guided by our belief that life itself is an unbroken stream of experiences stitched together by memory.

4. Without memory, life assumes the attributes of a futile gaze into the void of time!

5. Now before I go any further, let us observe a moment of silence in honour of our brothers and sisters in whose shadows we stand here today.

6. Umunnem, as is the case with the worldview of other great nations, Memory occupies a pre-eminent place in the Igbo worldview.

7. Our ancestors believed that a people without memory have absolutely no future.

8. To underscore the significance of memory, they handed us the concept of Ncheta ka – “recall is supreme.”

9. They silently nudged us to realize that life presents us with a diversity of experiences and out of this menu are touchstones that should guide us into the future.

10. These wise ancestors also gave us the philosophy of Onye ayana nwanneya – be your brother’s keeper; which has become the philosophy of our great party – APGA.

11. Life’s most enduring experiences are usually shared as a group

12. These experiences, though traumatic sometimes; should strengthen our bonds of brotherhood.

13. History presents us with a long list of ethnicities and nations that have risen through horrific experiences to strengthen their ties of brotherhood and re-affirm their humanity through symbolic events.

14. Our efforts today can be likened to Jewish efforts to honour the memory of the Holocaust as well as the recent efforts to commemorate the Rwandan Genocide in Kigali.

15. In the Jewish example, we see the firm resolve of the world Jewry to ensure that the tragic history of the Holocaust is permanently etched on human memory; that the world never forgets!

16. Many major cities in Europe and America have a Holocaust Memorial; built to perpetuate the memory of about six million Jews that died in the waves of anti-Semitism that swept through the world at the time.

17. Instructively the people of Rwanda have quickly recovered from the genocide that marked the Hutu and Tutsi conflict of the early 90s to build an ambitious economy.

18. They have erected the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre which opened in April 2004 to perpetuate that memory, renew their pact with their past and solemnly declare to themselves and say – Never Again!

19. Sadly, although we share a similar experience with the Rwandese, our attitude to the memory of that sad experience has lacked boldness and organized response.

20. Umu nnem, we are indeed a remarkable people.

21. However, throughout history, there has always been a prize to pay for greatness.

22. Our natural disposition to seek wealth-creating opportunities in known and unknown places across the world and support the local economy with our famed energy has made us imminent targets of conflicts that we had no hand in fomenting.

23. Happily, our brave spirit has helped us navigate the minefields of this experience.

24. We have become one of the most successful black people in the world.

25. We have set high standards in literature, business, the academia, science, information technology, entertainment and nearly every field of human endeavour.

26. Umu-nnem, we are the owners of a proud history; paved with pain and anguish and watered by the blood of the innocent.

27. Hardly is there a family in this gathering without a story; a story of profound loss.

28. But beside every story of loss sits a story of success; of glory and of abundance.

29. To the glory of God, we are not a people with a SINGLE STORY…

30. We are a proud, intensely driven, hardworking, innovative, adventurous and forward-looking people with more gifts than the world can take!

31. Umu-nnem we are the inheritors of an uncommon valour!
