The Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore herdsmen group has said the support for the South-West security outfit, Amotekun, shows how primitive Yoruba people are in politics.

The National Secretary of the group, Alhassan Saleh, said this during Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’ programme on Monday.

Saleh said it was unfortunate that both the Yoruba intelligentsia and political class could support such an initiative which seeks to curb the activities of herdsmen in the region.

When asked if he indeed told The PUNCH last week that support for Amotekun could cost the South-West the Presidency in 2023, Saleh admitted saying so but said it was not blackmail.

He said, “It is not blackmail. Unfortunately, with very strong apology to my South-West friends, despite the education of the Yoruba people, they still remain the most primitive in terms of politics. They are not tolerant to opposition and if you allow them to have an ethnic army, definitely there will be fear from Nigerians.”

Saleh recalled that in Lagos during the 2019 governorship elections, many persons in Igbo dominated areas were not allowed to vote because of the level of intolerance.

He said if Amotekun is allowed to see the light of day, worse may happen.

“We know what happened in Lagos during the last elections. The Igbo were denied voting and the oba even threatened to throw them into the lagoon. So, if you now have a Yoruba ethnic militia, what do you think will happen?” he asked.

The Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore secretary was, however, cautioned by the Channels anchor, Chamberlain Usoh, who asked him to be civil in his speech.

Saleh, who adamantly insisted that Amotekun was an ethnic militia, wondered if persons of other tribes would be recruited into Amotekun.

He called on the Federal Government not to allow the security outfit to begin operation.

When asked why Sharia Police, Hisbah, and the Civilian Joint Task Force in North-East were allowed to operate in the North-East, Saleh said they were backed by law and were working in concert with the police.

“Hisbah is legal because it is backed by law. That is clearly different from what you have now as Amotekun,” he said.

The hallmark and the very essence of living is not necessarily the actions that are targeted towards personal satisfaction and bliss. At the ultimate demise of all mortals, the chorus of a life well lived or not shall be heralded by the lives affected, positively or adversely. Amidst the narcissistic and egocentric epithets people assume with so much fanfare, the man Chief Felix Idiga is distinguished. In keeping to the enormous responsibilities of the title which his people conferred on him - "nkwa chukwu kwere Orlu", meaning God's promise to the Orlu people; "JAFAC" as he's preferably called has continued to be the figure that elicits smiles from the faces of his constituents, through his philanthropic outfit which has spanned for over a decade - The JAFAC Foundation.

The JAFAC foundation over the years has continued to show the people that there is a difference between having riches and being rich in spirit. Through the foundation, many have been gifted with seed monies. His numerous empowerments through the various Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) schemes, arises from his angst against the monster of unemployment . The feeding, health and educational needs of the less privileged are regularly catered for amongst others as hospital and school bills are picked regularly. Severe health complications are also taken abroad for more medical attention. Capital projects are not excluded in the list. One has never seen such a sore loser and serial liar like Dr. Emeka Donald Wachuku, the failed aspirant for the office of the National Organizing Secretary in the just concluded National Convention of the PDP.

 

This vain character, who commands no value in the PDP and largely unknown in the party is now going about the social media telling lies, fabricating figures and claiming he was denied victory, when in the actual documented fact, he woefully lost in a contest that was overwhelmingly won by the party’s former Zonal Vice Chairman, South East, Col. Austin Akobundu.

 

Wachuku claims that he lost because, according to him, over a thousand delegates did not cast their votes for the office of the National Organizing Secretary out of annoyance that a name they did not prefer appeared in a particular unity list.

 

He also falsely claimed that while 2,500 delegates voted for the position of the National Chairman, 1,300 voted for National Organizing Secretary adding that the disparity was as a result of his phantom boycott.

 

Wachuku, a political tout, who ironically wants to be a national officer of the PDP has so imbibed lying and falsehood as stock-in-trade that he forgot that the electoral processes in the national convention were all documented.

 

Contrary to Wachuku’s wild claims, official records and results duly signed by agents of the contestants show that while 2,225 and not 1,300 delegates voted for the office of the National Organizing Secretary, 2,296 and not 2,500 voted for that of the National Chairman.

 

Records show that. Col. Austin Akobundu won the position of the National Organizing Secretary with 1,831 votes while Wachuku trailed with 149. Chief Godwin Duru scored 98 while a total of 147 votes were invalid.

 

What is more reprehensible than the fact that whereas Wachuku in his proclivity for fraud claimed that 2,500 delegates voted for the office of the National Chairman when official records show that only 2, 344 delegates were accredited for the convention. Records further show that Prince Uche Secondus won the position of the National Chairman with 2,000 votes.

 

Moreover, it is a known fact that the so-called unity list did not influence the voting pattern in the convention. In fact, there at the convention ground, were at least for versions of what was referred to as the unity list, one of which had Wachuku’s name for the National Organizing Secretary. That he lost even when his name was on a unity list shows that the list had no more impact than fliers and banners of candidates as well as SMS and WhatsApp messages that continued to bombard delegates even at the on the convention ground.

 

Furthermore, one wonders, if as Wachuku claimed that a thousand delegates, who he believes could have voted for him, were annoyed as he claimed, why didn’t they vote for him instead of boycotting?

 

The truth is that Wachuku needs spiritual and social rehabilitation. In fact, he has proven to be a liar, who may also be parading false academic credentials and resume; a poor soul in dire need of urgent deliverance; and whose membership of the PDP is even in doubt.

 

Finally, the big questions; has Wachuku, in all honesty the clout and followership that can constitute a political contest for Col. Akobundu? Is he a fit and proper character for the important position of the National Organizing Secretary of a party such as the PDP? Has he the integrity, charisma and presence of mind to hold a national office in a serious political party, the size and status of the PDP? Your guess is as good as mine.

 

Wahcuku may be suffering from the trauma of defeat, but must he go about it with lies; like one desperately seeking office as a union leader in an association of touts?

My own polling booth was a special case because the one hundred thousand was given to Dr Obinna uzoh, s PA from umuadobihe who is a member of APC.

AMAMU ward A has 16 polling booth and in all the polling unit he brought in APC members in all the units

It's on heard off, that a local government chairman will fail in his ward after all the money in his possession.

_This is not a mere allegation but the true situation of things that happened in AMAMU A._

Anyone that cares should investigate or better invite the ward executives for further expository .

I detest it went people sing praises on a very bad situation.

It's very horrible.

_How do u expect to win, when money appropriated for Inec staff and security in AMAMU A was pocketed by the local government chairman , Ifeanyi Odimegwu.

The question is why will a local government chairman pocket the money might for an election in his ward and expect to win.

I call on the leaders of APGA to investigate this Fraud and address it.

This situation is generating a lot of problems in AMAMU A and needs urgent attention.

Appeal Court orders INEC to conduct Anambra Central Senatorial election without PDP.

The Appeal Court which sat by 2pm, this afternoon delivered the judgement in an appeal filed by the INEC and joined by Chief Victor Umeh against the judgement of Justice Chikere of the Federal High Court, Abuja which ordered INEC to include PDP in the postponed March 5, 2016 scheduled rerun election.

Delivering judgement, Appeal Court said that the trial court erred by ordering INEC to include PDP.

According to AIF Media reporter at the court, the appellate court ruled that since the PDP primaries that brought Iyom Ekwunife for the March 28, 2015 Anambra Central Senatorial was nullified by the Appeal Tribunal, Enugu on December 5, 2015 that PDP has lost the right to either conduct a fresh primaries or substitute their candidate.

The Appeal Court went further to bar INEC from including PDP in the ballot and ordered for the rerun election into the Anambra Central Senatorial election to be conducted in the next 90 days.

Traders reject calls to close markets for Obiano.

Information coming in indicates that Market Leaders in Anambra State have called all the traders in the state not to close their businesses and shops for any political rally today.

The market leaders under the umbrella body of Association of Anambra Traders said they are not politicians and would not allow anyone to use them for any political gain.

The traders association alleged that Obiano did not consult them before announcing the closure of the markets today.

They said, they will open their shops this morning and dare anyone to come and shut the markets.

AIF Media Forum learned that the market leaders met yesterday where they agreed to boycott Obiano's political endorsement rally slated to hold today at Onitsha. They believed that traders are free to vote whoever they prefer on November 18, but any form of affiliation and endorsement will not be accepted.

The markets leaders announced this morning that no market will be closed by anyone and urged the traders to disregard any contrary announcement by those they described as govt agents.

Recall that AIF Media Forum broke the news yesterday of the plans by Agu Awka to close all the markets in Anambra State today and force traders to an endorsement rally where Obiano will be announced as the choice of the traders.

One of the market leaders who spoke to AIF Media Forum this morning said, "We are going to our shops today. We met last night and agreed that we are not politicians and should not be dragged into politics as a body. Some persons collected money from the govt and announced the closure without consulting us, We will see how they will enforce it, and force all of us to the rally."

Ezeemo signs social contract with Anambra people

The Progressive People’s Alliance, PPA witnessed a mammoth crowd as they held officially flagged off their campaign over the weekend at All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha, during which the National Working Committee of the party led by her National Chairman, Chief Peter Ameh performed the ceremonial handing over of the party’s flag to Mr Godwin Chukwunenye Ezeemo and his deputy, 38 year old Hon. Stanley Nkwokah and Ezeemo stunned everyone by signing a social contract with the people.
Handing over the flag, Chief Ameh described Ezeemo as “a man of integrity and an embodiment of honesty and humility who has distinguished himself as an astute business man and administrator and therefore the ideal candidate for governorship in a great state like Anambra”.
Appreciating the “emotions, enthusiasm and excitement”expressed by the teeming crowd of supporters, Ezeemo opined that the electorates’ sacrificing their time to be part of the flag off was evidence that they are resolved to see a better Anambra State.
He shared his disgust at the “reckless abandon with which previous governments and event he present have been misusing their power to lord it over the people and siphon public funds” and promised that his emergence is a coup de grace for irresponsible governance.
In his words, “I know that our people have been lied to for so long and that is why you find it difficult convincing some people who have seen my antecedents but are still doubting the genuineness of my purpose. This is why I have chosen to sign a social contract with you women, youths, traders, commuter drivers and all other groups that make up Anambra people today so that you can hold me accountable if I default from accomplishing any of my promises within the timeline I have slated to actualise them if I emerge your governor.”
He then read out the social contracts which consist of definite actions he would take to address infrastructural, policy and social justice issues that militate against the smooth and optimum functioning of the various groups of people in the state, signed them and asked for a representative of the various demographics to sign on their column.
Ezeemo also introduced his running mate, 39 year old Stanley Nkwokah who he referred to as “one who has distinguished himself as an environmentalist and a consultant and therefore deserves a chance in governance.”
He said that his administration is poised to give everyone equal chance to exercise his potentials regardless of his age or background.
On his part, Ezeemo’s running mate, Stanley Nkwokah charged the youths to ensure they do not miss “the wonderful opportunity given to them who have been long forgotten and relegated to the background in the scheme of things politically.”
He said that Ezeemo has come with sincerity to lay a foundation for facilitated development in Anambra State and should be accorded every support that will enable him emerge as governor as it is “to the best interest of every demographic in the state.”
Speaking with the press, Barrister Keinde Ado, PPA National Secretary said that he is confident Anambra electorates will vote in Godwin Ezeemo this time around as the party has taken time since the last election to prove to them that Ezeemo is one man whose heart is with Anambra people and indeed the black man at large.
“This was what informed his transferring the headquarters of his booming business empire to his hometown. Where a man’s heart is, that is where he wants to put his treasure and where his treasure is, that is where his heart will be.”
He attributed the loss in the last election to not having enough time to introduce the candidate to Anambra electorates but that the party has had enough time to do between then and now.
“What you see today is a pre-victory celebration. All the people you see here are not rented crowd but converted devotees who have bought into this project and who are witnessing to others about the lofty project God intends to carry out through the instrumentality of Godwin Ezeemo,” Barrister Ado said.
There were also goodwill messages from the likes of a former presidential candidate under APGA, Mr George Okoye; Hon. Edwin Okonkwo, Deputy National Chairman (South) and victory songs as the local government branches of PPA as well as other pressure groups from within and outside the state marched past Mr Godwin Ezeemo assuring him of their unalloyed support and resolve to see him elected the next governor of Anambra state.
