It will be difficult to fix the IC because they are quite tiny and you need professional tools to do it. You could as well take it to a very good tech guy to help replace it.
In my humble suggestion, I'd say you should get another charge module or power bank case and then connect your battery. You can get them on aliexpress or jumia and even jiji. That's what I did when mine got damaged

I don't know why I'm pissed with what the broad did, but I feel it is more for clout than protest.

You don't need a buck converter if your charge controller is capable of charging the battery without issues. Yes, your bms is there to protect your cells against overcharge and over discharge but count your bms as a last resort, you should never allow your setup to get to those stages frequently or you risk damaging your cells

I'm not going solar yet, if that's the charge controller you are talking about. I just want to use normal electricity i.e PHCN or generator to charge it for now.
Before we get to the BMS as the last resort, what should be put in place before then for proper protection of the cells?

Please, house my li-ion knowledge is quite limited and I have decided to ditch my UPS and build my own battery bank from scratch.
I have gotten a grasp of the set up but I got confused with the buck converter stuff. Do I need a buck converter if I already have an inverter i.e will a 12v inverter do the work of a buck converter? Is the buck converter same as step down module?
Will the BMS protect the batteries from over discharge and over charge as well?
Lastly, where can one source for some items like 12v inverter, battery and
volt/current indicator locally?

I have my Soldering iron, a roll of soldering Pb, battery cell holder, 3s40a BMS all checked.
All I need now is like 40 cells of 18650s but no plug to get them.
Someone please help me with a good connect to get good and affordable cells.

And since using li-ion batteries aren't good for UPS like the big bosses once told me. What can I use to be able to get a clean charge and usage without any risk(s)?

If it's the latter, I have no idea. He just confessed it's a reliable power bank. Said he just risked it when he saw it on Jumia and decided to go for it and was blown away by its strength. I think they are trying to make a name for themself, as they are new to the market scene.

My junior colleague told me same thing about this Ace Elec. He said it's the next best thing after Jollof rice. I would have ordered while it is still cheap but I have two power banks that I'm currently using and still going good for me.
