I know you are a product of one of these universities running only medicine so you know nothing about interdisciplinary team work and approaches in patient care. It's strange when you see other professionals doing their rotation and clerkship since you feel you own the hospital. I only pity your generation of professionals who are so arrogant and think they know it all.

Dont pity me, am informed enof not to consult a pharmacist in disease conditions, neither wud any of my family. I rather pity u who wud self medicate ur children and refer sick people to pharmacists just to satisfy ur ego. You dnt know me and i wudnt border telling u who i am or where i trained. But knw that apart frm nurses, physiotherapists, radiographers, doctors hardly cross parts with pharmacists. Pharmacists have no busines with the ward and never involved in any patient management team.

Well,sometimes you said.One thing about health practice is that there are some things you get to know by experience and not just 'book'.That's when you can insist this particular brand is what you want.
Using ibuprofen instead of paracetamol won't exactly be considered alternation.It's using something more potent than paracetamol in that case.For instance,you wouldn't give ibuprofen to someone in early cyesis instead of paracetamol.

and u think doctors manage patients with 'just book'? who has more experience? d doctor or the pharmacist? all am sayin is dat before a pharmcist is a haste to modify a prescription, he shud bear in mind dat he has zero knowledge on patient medical, surgical n drug history. and goin ahead to try to collect such history is unethical. Thats another mans job

do you have an idea of what we call medication therapy management or therapeutic drug monitoring? it seems Nigerian GP will go on everlastingly strike by the time pxcists starts practicing to their full potentials. Dr's hate seeing pxcists coming into the wards to interact with the patients. pharmacy practice is growing and expanding by the day. You can work on yours. stop flaunting ignorance here.

if u want to enter ward, go n buy jamb form and fill to study medsurg. Dont go about complicating doctor's treatments. U guys almost killed a patient all because u want to grow n expand

Alternatives in terms of brand names,same generics.I don't think that is outside the scope of a pharmacist to do.
Of course you won't give ibuprofen as an alternative to paracetamol.

Sometimes pharmacist shud also stick to the brand. Some brands formulation are more potent. And for ur info some do alternate pcm wit ibuprofen, aspirin

The information given by this patient is vague. No name of drugs initially prescribed and eventually given... No information about the Pharmacy premises etc... How do you expect us to assess and believe all these craps. Pharmacists are trained experts in drugs and you can't take that away from them. There are countless occasions where they have positively helped correct or modify Doctor's prescription that has helped the patient. Why bring this kind of post to defame a profession?

Are u saying they shud rather cover up such unethical practice by some pharmacists who dont know their boundaries? patient management is never the duty of a pharmacist, they only dispatch drugs prescribed by a doctor and according to the prescription only. Any modification is fraud

There was nothing wrong with what the pharmacist did.If there is no particular drug,the pharmacist can give alternatives.It's what they are trained to do.
The problem was not taking history and the victim here not volunteering such information.

And wat happened to directing the man to check another pharmacy? paracetamol and ibuprofen are not always alternatives to each other, as the patient may have peptic ulcer which rules out ibuprofen. u dont give alternatives wen u dont have patient medical/drug history.This is just greed
