The next level in the current bank is SBO and the guy is looking good for promotion by next March. Interestingly, new pay for SBO may not be higher than GT's ABO. Moving to GT however means starting afresh in the race for promotion, and as one of the guys that interviewed him at GT stated, he has people who have not been promoted for 4yrs.

My guy is a banking officer (BO) in one of the international banks in Nigeria. He got an offer from GTB last week to join them on Asst Banking Officer (ABO) grade. His new salary (at GTB) will however be over 50% higher than his present salary.

Right now, he is more in favour of accepting the offer, but am just wondering if that’s the right thing to do.

Would you do it?

A 16-year-old has managed to crack puzzles which have baffled the world of maths for more than 350 years.

Shouryya Ray has been hailed a genius after working out the problems set by Sir Isaac Newton.

The schoolboy, from Dresden, Germany, solved two fundamental particle dynamics theories which physicists have previously been able to calculate only by using powerful computers.
His solutions mean that scientists can now calculate the flight path of a thrown ball and then predict how it will hit and bounce off a wall.

Shouryya only came across the problems during a school trip to Dresden University where professors claimed they were uncrackable.

'I just asked myself, 'Why not?',' explained Shouryya.

'I think it was just schoolboy naivety. I didn't believe there couldn't be a solution,' he added.
Modest Shouryya began solving complicated equations as a six year old but says he's no genius.

'There are other things at school I wish I was better at - football for one,' he said.

For years Shouryya has enjoyed what he calls 'intrinsic beauty' of maths.

When he was young, his father, an engineer, began testing his brain by setting him arithmetic problems.

After arriving from Calcutta four years ago without knowing any German, Shouryya is now fluent in the language.

His intelligence was quickly noted in class and he was pushed up two years in school - he is currently sitting his exams early.

Modestly Shouryya has pointed out he has weak points as a mathematician, and says he is not as competent in sport.

princey83: LOL...they are in developed countries as well, they are called loan sharks - unsecured lending and their APR on loans is in the 2000's. They lend money to people with bad credit history. It's gonna be worse in naija.

With the coming on stream of the various Credit Bureaus, the issue of unknowingly advancing loans to companies and individuals with bad credit has been larger taken care of. In Nigeria, I am not aware of any intentional lending to bad debtors except it is a loan restructuring.

Tcrack: are you serious at all? you want to lend money to nigerians. you will never get your money back.if you talk about project financing, that it understandable. but lening money. ol boy, you had better looked for a different line of business.

Sadly, it is folks like you that would never see anything good in your fellow man and would never do anything to improve the system.

As against popular belief, the average businessman in Nigeria is desirous of growing his business and is therefore credit worthy so long as the credit facility is properly structured. I know because we do a lot of unsecured credit to SMEs and individuals and have in the last one year disbursed over N5B. Of course there are lots of defaulters but when you look at the overall book, you will see that you have added value to your balance sheet. It's all a question of risk appetite and risk hedging.

That may not do you so much good, because most of the good manuals available are for big players in microfinance and if you structure your business based on that you would have taken the first steps to failure as you would end up spending your little capital on acquiring technical software and employing people that you do not exactly need at this stage.

The passage telling us that these tortured people "will seek death and not find it" during the five months seems like a contradiction with what we said above that the False Prophet will cause those refusing the mark to be killed. But if you think it through carefully, you'll see there is a resolution. Yet, it points to a terrifying new realization about the mark that you probably never heard of before. It points to the conclusion that refusing the mark is not rewarded instantly with death. On the contrary, it is rewarded first with up to five months of torture to persuade you to accept the mark. At the end of the five months of the locusts' torture tour, they finally will put you to death. Why the delay? They may be sadists or they may simply prefer to have Beast kingdom subjects than dead defeated martyrs.

(Note, that the locusts passage does not say all people besides God's sealed are tortured. It just says the power is there to do so. Since it makes no sense for the new Antichrist God to make his first order of business the torture his admiring subjects, even those who accept him as God, I think it's a fair deduction that the power to torture is not used on those who take the mark. If he really wanted to capture, mark and torture everyone, then why stop after five months? But if the torture is to force the mark, then it makes sense that the torture is only used for a short time at the beginning. It only takes a few months to find and capture every single living human on earth who is trying to avoid the mark and to try to convince them change their mind.)

The locusts torture is for all those who continue in refusing to accept Jesus as the Christ and Messiah. Tribulation saints would be exempt from this

I do 3 - 4 hours in traffic every evening. Add that to the pressures to deliver on several concurrent deadlines at work and a lot of other stuff. Its not a question of not bening able to get it up or keep it up, but more like less interest after a task filled day.
