I was particularly thrilled by the road markings (forgive me if you are used to that in Obodo Oyinbo). This is not a regular feature on Nigerian interstate expressways and this is how the whole stretch will look like on completion.

And its back to smooth driving!

It is 691 DAYS since GEJ was sworn for his 1st term as President. He has faced some of the worst form of distractions (boko haram insurgency, hostile and vitriolic attacks from the Opposition et al) in Nigerian Presidential History, yet it is gradually becoming clearer that this President stands a chance of writing his name on the positive side of Nigeria’s history books.

I travelled on this road on Good Friday and I was amazed at the level of progress that has been made on the road. FACT: Benin-Ore road has not been this good in the last 20 YEARS! Ore - Benin is over 85% completed while Benin to Ore is somewhere around 70%. FACT: Not once did I have to drive on the other lane (some foolish drivers still do that between Shagamu - Ore, but NOBODY does that on Ore to Benin anymore)

Note that the Five junction work is not the master storm drainage project promised by Oshiomhole.

Go to Iyaro, after Efex Executive park and you will see RCC contract board there showing who is working on the road. Oshiomhole has fraudulently minute jobs on federal roads within Benin and then turned around to claim them as his. Akpakpava road to Ikpoba slope, and Sapele roads are cases in point. He constructed road dividers on the road and planted flowers and then claimed to have done the roads. The fact is that Federal Govt roads in Benin are the few good long stretches of roads e.g. Benin-Asaba road through Ikpoba Slope and straight through Akpakpava to Sapele Road to Benin-Sapele Express are federal roads. M.M.Way through Upper Sakponba Road down to Idogbo - branches off at the bypass; and on to Abraka are federal roads. And these roads are all motorable. Only area the Fed. Govt is not doing well is in road markings and street lights, but a responsive State or Local Govt should have completed those little stuff... but wait there has been no local govt administration in Edo State for over 4 years... thanks to Oshiomhole.

Much has been said on the need to rehabilitate this key road, and I was somewhat pleased to see that rehabilitation work on the road is in progress. Both sides of the road have been largely fixed from Ore to just before Ofosu, and then from the Edo State boundary up to Oluku in Benin. Work is ongoing at Ofosu area and also at Ugbowo end in Benin up to Dawson junction.

I think this is rather commendable going by the fact that the road has been largely problematic. Some pictures taken between 14th & 15th December 2012 - my last trip to Benin- are shown below

ACN: PROPAGANDA & SYCOPHANCY

Never has this nation experienced the level of propaganda deployed by the Action Congress of Nigeria, otherwise known as the ACN. The party’s propaganda machinery is largely responsible for the acclaim with which the party is regarded in many quarters. Nowhere is this more true than in Lagos State, where Babatunde Raji Fashola holds sway. But as the truism goes, “you can deceive some of the people some times, but you cannot deceive all the people all the time’.

Fashola, as he is widely called, has without doubt brought some ’saneness’ into the the state leadership as against the ’agberoishness’ of his predecessor. Indeed, he was much loved by many Lagosians, but this was largely before his true excesses began to come to light despite all attempts to shield the truth.

It has now become known that the major projects undertaken by the state are largely private sector owned or funded. From roads to factories, to parks and recreation centres, it is private sector all the way!

I will pause here for responses, but before the ACN’s attack pack hits, the following questions beg answers:

1. What happens to the N23B monthly IGR aside the monthly federal allocation?
2. Where is the N200B World Bank loan already disbursed – the Federal Govt recently withdrew support for additional N400B to be drawn from the World Bank for 2013 and 2014.
3. Why this propensity to borrow and further impoverish the future? Note that most of the loans have moratorium and payment will be from 2017.
4. Where are the projects? Pls don’t show me 1km streets, boreholes sunk or hospital beds provided.

Next to come… EXPOSE ON ADAMS OSHIOMHOLE.

Wale - dont have his number, but his shop is inside Omole Phase 1 estate. Enter through Ogunnusi/Ojodu Road gate. Go straight through the next gate and keep looking to your right. His shop is inside a fenced compound before a nice hotel.

I had this same issue on my ford explorer. There is definitely something drawing current while the car is parked. Stop gap solution is to remove the positive battery head when the car will be parked for a day or more. To detect the actual fault, you will need a technician with a voltmeter to trace the fault. In the absence of that, one with wires and light bulb will do. Park the car with engine turned off, then test which equipment is still drawing current. Its a simple procedure that you can do if you have the equipment.

Actually, he is not my wife's brother. He is my elder sister's husband. They were both over the seas, returned to Naija to marry. She has returned and he is yet to.

Another car is not on the books right now. Just started a business for wifey and the focus now is on building it.

My brother-in-law has been living with me now for about 8months as he is awaiting the outcome of his visa appeal having been refused on first application. Along the line, he attended a driving school for two weeks so that he wouldn’t have to start from scratch by the time he relocates. However, he has now taken a liking to my SUV (my only car at the moment) to improve his driving skills. Much as I would want to see him improve, an SUV in my opinion is not a car for learners looking at its relative size and maneuverability. This is evident in the damage the car has suffered the several times he has manned it.

The very first time, he drove too closely to a parked bus and the side mirror was damaged; this I fixed at my cost. This made my wife and I to resolve that he should not drive the car and I more or less told him so. However, due to the nature of my job, I usually leave my car at home and join the staff bus. His strategy now is to convince my wife that he wants to teach her how to drive, or they should drive to church or he wants to drop her off at the office. The next time he drove the car, he drove over the spikes at a filling station and punctured the right tyre through the side wall. Though they bought a secondhand tyre to replace it, it does not tally with the other tyres making the car to look funny. I was quite upset at this but held back. Another time, he scratched the side of the car while backing out of the garage. That damage has not been fixed. Then another time I found that the middle hand rest was broken because they leaned on it too much and the horn also stopped working (this has also not been fixed). Then yesterday, he went to make some deliveries for my wife and run his own things with the car. I met him on my way back from work pushing the car because fuel had run out (of course the fuel indicator was on!) but he usually never wants to spend a dime of whatever funds he has. I had to bring out money for him to buy fuel as he said he was going home to collect money from my wife. By the time the car was fuelled and I took over driving, I felt much vibration and heard so much noise from the car suspension. I asked him why he was flying over potholes on bad inner city streets and his response was that he was under pressure to deliver my wife’s goods.

I do not want to lose my cool with him or wifey but I think I have run out of options. My latest resolve is to keep the car key in an undisclosed location when am not around. What do you think?

MTN replied them since! I got a text yesterday that I will get 200% bonus to call any network for any recharge (this is not the weekend 100% promo).

This morning I loaded a 750 card to test this and guess what? Aside the 750 balance I got 1500 bonus to call any network. I tested this by making a call and the call was charged to the bonus (proof its not the weekend bonus stuff). I think MTN has finally woken up to protect its market share.

I work in one of the foriegn Banks in VI. I have this close pal (a team leader) that recently started selling his wife's chin-chin in the office. I found he initially brought some for product testing in order to obtain valuable feedback for improvement. However people loved it and asked him to keep bringing and he has just started.

Thing is the guy is not broke (I know his pay and he drives an SUV). Someone commented today that he must really love the wife to do that. Another said its not so cool. I think its not so bad afterall particularly because the wife is just starting. What do you think?
