Kairoseki77: According to the above, the only thing the LASG provided was the land and docking space for the yacht.

OP, is 100% correct. LASG didn't spend a single kobo on the yacht.

PoliticsRe: The Truth About 'Lagos' Sunburn Yacht Hotel by naija2dabone(m): 4:55pm On Jan 05, 2014
Sorry, this is way longer than necessary, but with nairaland, it is sometimes necessary go long.

I was very much involved with the Yacht in question - right at the highest level. I had meetings with very high level officials of the bank that financed the purchase, and as such had access to tons of real and genuine information and documents concerning this yacht. I know the names of the owners, and I was on the yacht up to a few weeks before it was sold.

I can tell you a lot about this yacht.

BELOW IS THE 100% TRUE STORY OF THE YACHT!

______ The 'Princess' Sunborn yacht hotel was constructed around 2002 by Sunborn International Finland.

______ Sunborn International placed and managed the Yacht in London docklands up till 2007 or thereabout.

______ Around 2007, a Nigerian team made up of a former AD - turned PDP (?) Senator and his partner bought the yacht.

______ Purchase price was ridiculously above true market value and transaction was financed by a local bank (name withheld).

______ By & large, the loan was secured on the yacht itself! No other security!! - very common amongst banks during the Soludo bubble.

______ The Senator was able to use his lingering contact with ACN govt in Lagos, to get the then Lagos State commissioner
for tourism to throw govt embrace around the project on the basis that it would boost tourism and raise Lagos's international profile.

______ On the day the yacht arrived in Lagos, thousands of Lagosians and several state officials and the said commissioner were there before TV cameras smiling and basking in the glory of this new toy that would catapult Lagos's international standing to new heights.

______ Unfortunately, by the time it arrived Lagos, the owners had spent so much buying it, they had nothing left to run it. And the bank would not lend a kobo more! To make matters worse, the two buyers fell out over how to take the business forward.

______ Few months passed, then years. Now the yacht was becoming so badly degraded that it risked becoming a health hazard.

______ With AMCON on the rampage, and rumour sipping out about the shoddy nature of the financing of the yacht purchase, the financing bank, wanting to avoid public embarrassment, decided to exercise its right to sell.

______ By mid-2012, the bank put the yacht up for sale.

______ The senator protested placing warning notice in some national newspapers against anyone buying. But he couldn't pay the bank what he owed it, so the bank paid no attention.

______ After several months on the market, the bank found an Asian buyer. The Yacht was quietly towed out of Lagos I believe on boxing day 2012 with most people getting wind only after the yacht was out of Nigerian waters.

Based on what I know, the yacht cost around N4.5 billion, but the bank got back less than 20% of that money.

Moral of the story

1. Lagos State did not invest one kobo in the yacht and so Lagosians have lost nothing
2. Tinubu had nothing to do with this yacht
3. This was a private project that failed largely because of financial incapacity, greed and infighting between two owners
4. The big loser was the lending bank which got back a fraction of what it lent and has no prospect of getting more from the debtors.
its either you are so stup!d or you think everyone's iq is as low as yours.

This yachtgate just like the others - Lekki-Epe roadgate, fashola official carsgate, lagos house of assembly speakergate,Tinubu firm collecting lagos state tax wuruwuru, Epe cargo airport fraud, deportation stup!dity etc has already comfirm what we all know which is:

Fashola is a fraud
Tinubu is a thief
APC is headquarter of corruption

So, this rat is also fighting on behalf of Mr & Mrs Jonathan and not for the masses. They are not fighting Amaechi because Amaechi has not performed well as Governor but because Amaechi insults the Sheppopo Jesus-on-Earth and her clueless husband the god-on-earth (according to Ahmad Gulak). naija2dabone: If APC really need my vote in 2015 then they need to provide satisfactory answers to these my 5 questions:

1. Is PDP Nigeria's problem or Jonathan?

I'm wondering why the APC is desperate to have PDP governors in their midst, even when the group has repeatedly claimed that the PDP was the problem of Nigeria.

2. What have you done with the states that has been entrusted into your care?

After 16 years in power what can APC boast of in state like Lagos? Is the Lagos metro line(Rail) Project completed now? what of the Epe Cargo Airport that was promised to be completed in 2011? Was Lekki-Epe express way constructed (50% Completion) at the cost of N4 billion/Kilometre? How about basic necessities like water? With all the trillions in revenue and after 16 years in power, Lagos government can not execute, say N20 Billion water project? How did Gombe do it then?

3. Who will do the job?

APC promised 40,000mw of electricity, free and fair election, bla bla bla - Great dreams but the question begging for answer is who is the man (or woman) who will get the job done? Tinubu? Buhari? Elrufai? Fashola or Okorocha? The question is this: Where are the men with national appeal and patrotic zeal? where are the men with intergrety and of unquestionable characters? where are they in APC and can we look at their track record?

4. What are you bringing to the table?

liberal agricultural policy of GEJ administration has encouraged local farmers to attain progressive growth in food production, The rail system is now running after about 30 years of being comatose, the power reforms is yielding result already and our airports now national monuments. Road construction is going on nation wide, Enugu now has an international airport.....So what new thing are you bringing to the table. How does your plan and programme differ from those of the present administration. What is GEJ doing wrong that you want to correct?

5. What should the less previlaged expect from your administration?

What are your plans for the poor and the destitutes? the widows and orphans? Deportations? Demolitions of their houses for a master plan or is it a mega city or shopping malls? Like Amaechi wanted to do in rivers or like Fashola is doing in Lagos or like Elrufai did in Abuja.

ABUJA-THE Senate Tuesday described the recent call that the National Assembly should commence impeachment proceedings on President Goodluck Jonathan over alleged gross misconduct by the opposition party, All Progressives Congress, APC, as utter rubbish and arrant nonsense.

APC had in a statement on Sunday through its interim National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed called on the two chambers of the National Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings against President Jonathan for alleged gross misconduct in office following former President, Olusegun Obasanjo’s letter accusing him (Jonathan) of incompetence and misconduct arising from perceived tolerance of corruption and acts capable of crashing down the country completely

Politics10 Facts From OBJ'S Letter To GEJ by naija2dabone(op): 10:50pm On Dec 16, 2013
Below are 10 facts we can deduce from the letter OBJ wrote GEJ

1. OBJ is responsible for the walk out on the president at eagle square and subsequent formation of the now rested nPDP.

2. OBJ elimination strategy is to dine with you while he is plotting to kill you: He organised the walk out at eagle square on saturday nigh and the next sunday morning he was at Aso chapel 'praying' for the president. He wrote and leaked to the press a letter attacking the GEJ and the next day he was at Kenya having breakfast with the president. He did thesame time to Audu Ogbe before removing him as PDP Chairman.

3. OBJ is desperate to be the king maker. Having a president that will be taking instruction from Otta farm is all that OBJ wants.

4. Atiku has reconcilled with OBJ. I gathered this much from Atiku's reaction to the letter

5. OBJ is scared that GEJ might likely win 2015 election. And so is also the opposition

6. The timing of Sanusi, and OBJ's letters and Tanbuwal's 'president body language..' speech is not just mere coincidence.

7. 2015 campaign is going to be based on smear campaign, outright lies and propagandas. Certainly not issues based.

8. Somebody somewhere is planning something very evil. The letter is meant to creat a reason for that.

9. TY Danjuma, IBB, Abdulsalam and OBJ are working together with other disgruntle elements. Gowon is not part of them.

10. We have not heard the last yet.

birdman: I am no budget expert, but I suspect the missing funds wont have any effect until the next budget, which will be the end of 2014 to 2015 timeframe. The FG has disputed that the money is missing. But the interesting thing is I haven't heard any official channel suggest that $65biillon of crude was a ridiculous number. This makes me think under-reporting has been going on for years, and we have in fact been making more on crude than the FG lets on. Most likely, it is the scale and brashness of the theft that may have put GEJ in trouble here.

Nobody diverts that kind of money without the man at the top knowing what is going on. This is just a show to calm tensions.

The next question is, what were they planning to use that money for? Probably for GEJ's war chest for 2015 elections. Maybe to even sponsor a milita or two to keep the country hot. Obasanjo already alluded to this in his letter. And its a good enough reason for Sanusi to risk his neck (If Azazi can die in an accident after talking about BH, everybody is fair game)
How comes the APC e-rats that called for the crucification of Azazi while he was alive and the NSA for "his inability to overcome Boko Haram" are now singing his praises in dead?

Why are APC e-rats so shamelessly devoid of any form principle?

PoliticsJonathan Has Right To Contest In 2015 — Ogbeh by naija2dabone(op): 1:54am On Dec 16, 2013
*Says there ‘ll be no bloodshed

ABUJA—A chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Audu Ogbeh, said weekend that President Goodluck Jonathan, had the rights to contest elections in 2015.

Ogbeh, who was former chairman of ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, also appealed to Nigerians to desist from making inflammatory statements, following threats of bloodshed by some eminent persons over President Jonathan’s 2015 ambition.

He said: “There are those who said that if President Jonathan contests in 2015, there will be bloodshed. I don’t think we should talk that way.

“If the court says he is free to contest and the constitution allows him, no one of us has the right to stop him.

“On the other hand, the opposition can prepare and contest against him, provided there is a free and fair election. That’s all we need to work on.”

On threat of bloodshed, Ogbeh said Nigeria had witnessed so much of bloodshed already, stressing that such comments were not in the best interest of the people.

He spoke exclusively to Vanguard against the backdrop of a statement credited to a Northern leader and Second Republic lawmaker, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, who recently declared that blood would flow in the country should President Jonathan seek re-election in 2015.

Ogbe urged Nigerians to cultivate the virtues of patience and perseverance, irrespective of any frustrations.
Ogbeh said: “I will like to appeal to all politicians and leaders in this country to watch their language. When you hear somebody saying there will be bloodshed or that blow will flow in 2015, it is not the way to speak in a country that is seeking peace and progress.

“No matter what the frustrations are, we must not wish our country doom and damnation because we already have too much blood flowing in this country and we can’t talk that way.”
