Mr Gboyega Oyetola, the Chief of Staff to Gov. Rauf Aregbesola of Osun, on Friday disclosed that the budget for the Governor’s Office for 2015 is N18,645,514,610. Oyetola disclosed this in Osogbo, while defending the budget of the Governor’s Office before the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation. According to him, ‘’N6,925,000,000 is for recurrent expenditure and its capital expenditure is proposed at the sum of N11,720,514,610. ‘’The budget size for the year represents a 36.13 per cent reduction in the size of the budget for year 2014,’’ Oyetola explained. He said the Office of the Governor proposed to raise N3,025,000,000 as revenue through tender fees, registration of contractors, capital receipts and from other sources. According to Oyetola, N1,159,000,000 is expected to be expended on salaries, allowances and other remuneration of career officers and political office holders in the Office of the Governor. The sum of N3,775,000,000 is expected to be spent on general administration of bureaus and agencies in the Office of the Governor, as part of overhead costs. The payment of salaries to the Governor, the Deputy Governor, Judges, the State Independent Electoral Commission and others would gulp N2billion. Reports showed that N11,720,514,610 was proposed to cater for the execution and implementation of projects and programmes of agencies and bureaus in the Office of the Governor. The chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Mr Kamil Oyedele, promised that the house would give the budget a critical and accelerated consideration and passage. Oyedele also appreciated the House for their patience during the presentation and defence of the budget by the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). Reports also had it that the House of Assembly ended the week-long presentation and hearing of budgets by the MDAs in the state on Friday. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/01/aregbesola-run-office-n18-6-billion-2015/#sthash.jZia8rcX.dpuf |

Buhari is now a captive of Bourdillion — Agbaje on January 12, 2015 / in News 1:30 am / Comments By CHARLES KUMOLU IN a manner suggestive of the new realities around the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Gen Mohammadu Buhari ,rtd, he has been described as a captive of his new political associates. Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje who conceded that Buhari had vision that distinguished him in past, speaking at an interactive media session at the weekend, however, regretted that all his known sterling qualities have been subsumed by circumstances beyond his control. “The Buhari of now is not the same Buhari of 2007 and 2011 and I can defend this anywhere. The Buhari of 2011 was running on his own steam. The Buhari of 2015 is a captive. We know who is behind his running mate. We know those who put all those working in his team where they are today. We can’t be fighting bondage in Lagos and also put ourselves in bondage at the national level. The same model that is paying out in Lagos is what they want to replicate at the national level. We have to fight it. That is the reality on ground. We have to refuse the attempt at bringing the same me failed model in Lagos State to the centre.” - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/01/buhari-now-captive-bourdillion-agbaje/#sthash.1JGx9oRn.dpuf |

When we say the APC led lagos govt is a fraud, people call us names. I cant understand why for 16 years, with all the IGR, the world bank loans, the FG allocations, lagos cant execute a N20b water projects for logosians. 'Change' should definately begin from home. In the second part of his report, KUNLE FALAYI takes on the Lagos State Water Corporation armed with the report of a chemical analysis done on a sample of the contaminated water which some Lagos residents drink oblivious of the dangers they face At Ijora-Badia, one of Lagos’ most notorious slums, living around dirt is obviously not strange to the residents. But the water they buy from vendors who get their supply from the Lagos State Water Corporation may be doing them more harm than good. A sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation, which is Target 10 under Goal Seven of the Millennium Development Goals, continues to be an illusion to people like the residents of this area. According to the United Nations, at least 783 million people the world over lack access to clean water. Our correspondent noticed that many residents of the Ijora-Badia community dispose of their human wastes in open sewers while most of the pipes laid by water vendors in the community pass through the same drains and sewers. Yet common cases of dysentery and diarrhoea among children of the community do not seem to be raising alarm bells. Where dysentery is a ‘regular visitor’ After 28-year-old food vendor, Mrs. Khadijat Akibu, narrated how her son died in June 2014 after a bout of his ‘usual’ dysentery (published in the first part of this report last Saturday), a search for more families with similar cases revealed how common the disease is among the residents of the area. Alimi Thirty-two-year-old hairdresser, Adunni Alimi, told our correspondent that she no longer saw it as a problem when her three-year-old daughter, Bisi, complained of dysentery because “it always comes and goes.” She lives only about 30 yards away from Akibu, and there is no doubt that she and her family also use the same water supplied by water vendors in the area. “Bisi had dysentery last in November. She has dysentery almost every three weeks but she recovers after we give her drugs. That is why we are not really worried,” Alimi said. Initially, when her daughter started her usual frequent stooling, Bisi would take her to Grace and George Hospital, a private hospital in the area, but now, she simply goes to a drug store to buy Flagyl and Tetracycline anytime the bout sets in because she can’t afford to take her daughter to hospital all the time. Does she think that the recurrent dysentery might have something to do with the water they drink in the house? Alimi, whose expression changed to one of confusion, answered that it could not be so. “I know well that the water the vendors sell in Ijora-Badia come from the water corporation,” she said. That was the same reaction Julius Aji, another resident of the area, gave when our correspondent was speaking with his wife. His wife, Chinenye, had told our correspondent that they had to take their six-year-old son to the hospital when the dysentery he had on December 15, 2014 entered the third day without abating. “That is the second time he would develop dysentery in the last four months. But this last one really frightened us because we went to buy the same drug that were prescribed during his last case and it just did not work,” Chinenye said. “You reporters have come with your questions again. If we use borehole water, maybe I will agree that there is contamination. But we use water corporation water here,” Julius interjected when his wife was asked if they had ever worried that the water they use in the house might be contaminated. But these families are just two of the many others who our correspondent spoke with and who admitted to battling recurrent cases of dysentery in Ijora-Badia. However, dysentery is just a minor problem compared with the danger the analysis of the water taken in the area revealed. The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), has come under fresh attack for his decision to terminate the Lagos metro line project initiated by the Alhaji Lateef Jakande administration to ease traffic in the metropolis. The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ms. Jumoke Akinjide, said the former Head of State truncated the opportunity of a free flow of traffic within the metropolis and by extension, the economic growth of the South-west because of his hatred for the region and his determination to see its growth retarded. She said the countries that were no where near the growth attained by the South-west when the APC presidential candidate stopped its metro line project had since advanced to become world economic powers, insisting that rather than advance the course of the South-west to realise its potential to springboard the nation to a world economic power status, the maximum ruler, she said, however opted to pay a $500 million fine for breaching the agreement guiding the rail project execution to ensure the rail project dream was not realised. She said the Lagos metro rail project was designed by the Jakande government to facilitate transportation within Lagos and surroundings, but was terminated when Buhari military regime took over in December, I983, thus making the country to forfeit a whopping $60 million, which was part of the loan that had been paid by the Jakande administration before Buhari toppled the civilian government. The minister who spoke in Abuja on Monday, held Buhari responsible for the unending traffic problems in Lagos, the seat of Nigeria’s economy, submitting that he succeeded in setting the South-west back in terms of judicious time wasted to gridlock and also employment opportunities that the rail project would have provided for the people. “It could not be imagined the kind of hatred Buhari has for the South-west that could have made him dashed the hope of the government that initiated the rail project which was going on smoothly and on schedule before he forced himself to power,” she lamented. In her projection, the project would have been completed on time if not for General Buhari’s coup and the transportation nightmare Lagosians face today would not have existed. “The visionary Jakande administration had concluded all the plans to finance the project, putting everything in place for its successful execution. My father provided the legal framework in his capacity as the Attorney –General at the time, and the state government had deposited $50million after securing a $450 million loan at six per cent fixed interest rate for 25 years. “At the time the project was cancelled the government had paid part of the loan and therefore had no worry about financing the project. But Buhari stopped the project and went ahead to pay another $500million, which was almost enough to complete the project, as fine to the foreign company handling the project for terminating the contract.” Describing the APC presidential candidate as a sworn enemy of the South-west, the minister said: “I don’t see the reason some Yorubas would still gang up with this man to further rip us off. He has never done us any good and he can never do us any good. He had his opportunity to show us love, he never did, instead he humiliated our leaders and detained them for no just cause, yet some people want us to embrace such enemy because of their own selfish interest. Buhari is not new to failure, he will fail again,” she submitted. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/akinjide-attacks-buhari-for-truncating-lagos-metroline-project/197960/ |
Lagos governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has been quizzed by the police over an alleged perjury case against him, Sunday Tribune has exclusively learnt. Sunday Tribune had exclusively reported the commencement of the probe by the police weeks back. A security source revealed that Ambode was quizzed on Wednesday at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. He was reportedly released on administrative bail after he was said to have made his statement on oath. The police team handling the investigation reportedly issued a formal summons on him which he reportedly honoured. The Certified True Copy (CTC) of the documents involved in the alleged forgery was also said to have obtained by the investigative team. The CTC of the nomination form with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was reportedly obtained from the commission, while the CTC of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (Jamb) form he filled in 1981, was reportedly obtained from the University of Lagos. According to security sources, investigation had been concluded and a criminal charge would soon be preferred. Sunday Tribune gathered that the petition alleging perjury against him was authored by Lagos APC integrity group. The petitioners accused him of lying on oath by claiming in his JAMB form in 1981 that he was from Ilaje in Ondo State, only to claim in his nomination form, on oath again, to be from Epe in Lagos State. Ambode, backed by the party’s national leader, Senator Bola Tinubu, defeated 12 others to clinch the party’s ticket. There are two cases at the Federal High Court in Lagos, challenging the process and conduct of the exercise. When contacted, Ambode’s media aide, Idowu Ajanaku said he was not aware of the visit. http://www.tribune.com.ng/news/top-stories/item/25270-perjury-ambode-quizzed |

Tanimu Yakubu Kurfi, former chief economic adviser to late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, is facing serious opposition over his imminent membership of the policy think-tank of Muhammadu Buhari, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Since TheCable reported that the economics graduate of Wagner College, New York, US, was tipped to head the economic policy directorate of the Buhari Campaign Organisation, the former head of state and senior APC chieftains have been inundated with calls by concerned Nigerians who kicked against Kurfi’s membership. An APC official who spoke with TheCable said it is going to send the wrong signals if Kurfi plays any major role in the Buhari team. “I am aware that many well-meaning Nigerians have been expressing worries over Yakubu. Buhari has not told any of us categorically that Yakubu is his choice to head the team. He is already aware of the possible repercussion,” the official said. The head of the policy think-tank is expected to end up holding a major position in government if Buhari wins the presidential election next year. Membership of the committee has not been officially announced but TheCable reported that two former commissioners in Lagos state, Wale Edun and Yemi Cardoso, have been nominated by Bola Tinubu, former governor of Lagos and national leader of APC. It is also said that Rotimi Amaechi, the governor of Rivers state who is the director-general of the campaign organisation, is not aware of the nominations. A commissioner from the state told TheCable that Amaechi has his own list of credible and knowledgeable Nigerians who can work with Buhari to produce an economic blueprint. “His input will certainly be sought. He has his own candidates. The only fair conclusion is that the team is still being put together, but of course General Buhari will have the final say,” he said. Kurfi, who is from Katsina state like Buhari and has been close to the retired major general for decades, is not in the good books of many because of his role in the Yar’Adua government. Seen as the most powerful political appointee of Yar’Adua, he was held responsible for the stalling of many projects initiated by former President Olusegun Obasanjo allegedly because of personal interest. He was said to have stalled the execution of power projects, Kano-Lagos rail modernisation and the renewal of oil mining licences of multinational oil companies. Kurfi was also said to have shot down several bills on privatisation sent to Yar’Adua by the Bureau for Public Enterprise (BPE), and was even held responsible for the reversal of the sale of Warri and Kaduna refineries to a company owned by Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola. In an American embassy cable leaked by whistle-blowing Wikileaks, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, former governor of the central bank, allegedly described Yakubu as a “terrible economist”. Indications have emerged that all is not well in the All Progressives Congress (APC) as plans are being devised to unseat the National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, following what some sources described as his roles in the just concluded national convention of the party. THISDAY gathered that Oyegun is being targeted by two forces within the party who are not happy with his role during the national convention. One of the forces is said to be angling for what its leaders described as a, “balancing act,” while the other is said to be aggrieved that the Oyegun truncated an earlier plan to feature a Muslim/Muslim ticket. It was gathered that the camp loyal to Rivers State Governor, Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, is angling for what is described as a “balancing act” within the party, following the emergence of Prof. Yemi Osinbajo as the running mate to General Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 contest. The group, according to sources in the party is claiming that since the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) faction of the party led by Buhari has picked the presidential slot, while the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) side of the merger has also picked the vice-presidential slot, the governors’ camp led by Amaechi should now be allowed to pick the chairman. Though Oyegun was only elected in June, one of the sources had claimed that the party can effect a balancing act by calling an extra-ordinary convention. Another source in the party claimed that some leaders of the party are not happy with Oyegun for failing to back the Muslim/Muslim ticket option, believed to be capable of providing the party with its strongest hands. It was gathered that the target of the Muslim/Muslim ticket was the former Governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu, who is believed could provide massive votes from the South-west. Oyegun’s sins according to this group is that he failed to strongly defend the option and allowed some young elements from the North to force the party’s hands and drive it away from the Muslim/Muslim option. But so far, there appears to be no agreement in the works as to the possible timing of the bid against the chairman. Sources said that three meetings, one in Abuja and two in Lagos, have been held to strategise on the plot on how and when it would be expedient. While some people have argued that his removal now would have minimal effect on the elections, some had insisted that nothing can be done before the election. The group described its anger thus: “When the chips were down he (Oyegun) refused to stand up to defend the Muslim-Muslim ticket, one of the conditions the informed his emergence as the party chairman. He allowed some people to browbeat the party with arguments. Whereas those from the South-west insisted that they want to put their best foot forward. “Some of us are angry because we brought him in to stabilise things. We are weighing the effects of his planned removal now to the fortunes of the party at the polls but we are determined to press on. “We made him the chairman and when it was pay back time he joined the ‘opposition’ in the name of populist agitation against Muslim/Muslim ticket.” Those clamouring for balancing act to accommodate Amaechi and the governors also said that the group can be pacified for its loss of the vice-presidential slot through the emergence of Chief Sam Sam Jaja, who is also from the South-south. It was however confirmed that opinions were clearly divided on the possibility of stoking the “fire” in a party that is angling to contest a major election against the ruling party. Some of those opposed to any planned move against Oyegun were said to have insisted that any move against him would indicate that the some interested leaders of the party produced Oyegun out of selfish reasons. Some people who have heard of this development are saying that does it mean that his emergence as Chairman was predetermined fulfill certain ends. “It is good this is coming out. I can assure you a number of us will oppose it. Does it mean that he was brought in against popular will? Some people left the Party while some just moaned and stayed on after the June convention that produced him. Does it mean he was brought in to help actualise an ambition for the VP slot. We are waiting,” the source said. |
I cant vote for Buhari for the following reasons: 1. A nominee of BH to negociate for and on behalf of BK. 2. Said the killing of BH is an attack against northern Nigeria. 3. At 72 he is past his prime age for high performance 4. PTF projects during his watch was skewed to favor only the north. Main reason why OBJ scrapped PTF upon assumption of office 5. Considering our over dependance on south-south oil, a two term for their son is equitable and just. What resources is the north contributing that gives them the right to feel they are 'born to rule' 6. The cancellation of the Lagos metro rail project. Unforgivable blunder, a clear anti south policies of his administration then 7. GEJ outstanding performance 8. If Buhari wins, the north would believe that the use of violence to get the presidency is effective and therefore will resort to the use of violence next time if a Southerner becomes the president. 9. The post 2011 instigation that resulted to the slaughtering of thousands of Christians in the north, not for getting the corp members cut down in their prime. 10. Propaganda and lies: If I vote for buhari it will mean I have been fooled by their lies and propaganda |
1. He Is A Hypocrite And Sanctimonious: Buhari is a self-acclaimed anti-corruption Czar, yet he served under late Sani Abacha without complaining of corruption. In the same period Buhari served as PTF Chairman under Abacha, Nigeria was named the 2nd most corrupt country in the world in 1996 by Transparency International; the most corrupt country in 1997 and 3rdmost country in 1998. Buhari didn't resign or protest. He dismissed the TI Report with a wave of the hand. Can he do the same if such report says Nigeria is the most corrupt country in 2014? I know that Buhari would protest and call President Jonathan names. Buhari as a man of integrity as he claims should have done what Tai Solarin, Duro Onabule and Ebitu Ukiwe did under IBB's regime. IBB's attempt to take Nigeria into the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) made his Chief of General Staff, Ebitu Ukiwe to resign. Ukiwe maintained that Nigeria, as a country, should not be a member of a religious organisation. Individual organisation can take up membership of religious organisations, but not the country. IBB made Tai Solarin the chairman of Peoples Bank with no fund and power to run it; he resigned and tendered his apology to Nigerians. Buhari has not apologized to Nigerians for working for the most corrupt govt in the world then, but he still maintains that Abacha didn't loot Nigeria dry even as Abacha loots are still being sent back to Nigeria. When he took over power by the gun, he supported rigging because it favoured him. But now, he is shouting of rigging. Hear him: “The last general election was anything but free and fair. The only political parties that could complain of election rigging are those parties that lacked the resources to rig.” - M. Buhar (First Speech after Military Coup, 31 December, 1983) 2. He Is A Religious Fanatic And Extremist: Buhari believes that his religion is superior to other religions and that Koran supersedes our constitution. In 2001, he gave his total support for Sharia with this statement: “I will continue to show openly and inside me the total commitment to the Sharia movement that is sweeping all over Nigeria. God willing, we will not stop the agitation for the total implementation of the Sharia in the country.” - M. Buhari (August 27, 2001) He made the above statement after he had gone to BBC Hausa Service to condemn the then Vice President, Atiku Abubakar for urging Muslims states who adopted Sharia to return to the status quo. If you think that these statements mean nothing, then envision what would happen if a notable Christian political leader from the south make the same statement about spreading Christianity across Nigeria . Prior to the 2003 elections, he made another shocking statement: “Muslims should only vote those who will promote Islam. We are more than the Christians if you add our Muslim brothers in the West.”- M. Buhari (2003) 3. He Introduced Kidnapping And Smuggling Into The Nigeria System: The story of Umaru Dikko is already well known that repeating it here amounts to tautology. However, Buhari and his ADC Col. Mustapha Jokolosupervised the smuggling of 53 suitcases filled with cash against the protests of Tunde Idiagbon and ironically, Abubakar Atiku (an APC bigwig), was the former DG of Customs. Do you still need to know why Buhari has never accused Atiku of being corrupt? 4. He Is Not A Man of His Words: Buhari cried in public and said he won't contest elections again, yet couldn't keep his words: “This campaign is the third and last one for me; since, after it, I will not present myself again for election into office of the president.” – M. Buhari (April, 2011 at the Int'l Conference Centre, Abuja) Then again in 2014, he swallowed his words with this: “I humbly present myself to all Nigerians and to God, seeking to be elected as APC's presidential candidate.” - M. Buhari (Oct., 15, 2014 Eagle Square Abuja) 5. He Is An Ethnic Bigot Who Thinks That Vendetta Is Fighting Corruption: After Buhari and his boys overthrew the govt of Shagari with the sole reason that the govt was highly corrupt, he locked up Dr. Alex Ekwueme – the then VP in Kirikiri maximum prison but left Shagari – the president and Head of govt in his mansion. Ekwueme was tried by the tribunal set-up by Buhari and the tribunal declared that he was even poorer than he was before he came into office. Yet, Buhari jailed him and allowed Shagari to relax in his mansion. He gave Dede Sam Mbakwe 100-year jail term for stealing nothing and also went after his wife. Ambrose Ali was tried for an undeveloped plot of land and he was jailed for 75 years with heavy torture that led to blindness and later death. Jim Nwobodo and Lateef Jakande were jailed for 100 years for stealing nothing. Adekunle Ajasin was tried by a military tribunal and found innocent. Buhari ordered a fresh trial, he was found innocent again. Buhari changed the tribunal and tried him again. He was still found innocent. Buhari still jailed him. But, Buhari left his personal friend – Awwal Ibrahim – the then highly corrupt governor of Niger State who was arrested at Heathrow airport with £14 million. Awwal was never jailed. He was placed under house arrest in his mansion like Shagari for just two weeks and indeed released. 6. He Is A Coupist : Buhari has no moral ground to stand for an election in Nigeria because he's a destroyer of democracy and can never benefit from it. He overthrew a duly elected govt and ruled illegitimately until he was kicked out. For those that claim he was invited, go read the recent interview by Chief Ebenezer Babatope on why Chief Solomon Lar was imprisoned by Buhari. 7. He Doesn't Talk or Act Like An Elder-statesman: He makes provocative statements that are capable of putting the country in crisis. This attitude caused the death of over 800 innocent lives including about 10 Corp members after he lost the 2011 elections. A man who considers himself as an elder-statesman and wants to rule Nigeria again should not be talking this way: “God willing, by 2015, something will happen. They either conduct a free and fair election or they go a very disgraceful way. If what happened in 2011 should again happen in 2015, by the grace of God, the dog and baboon would all be soaked in blood.” – M. Buhari “2015 will be bloody…” – M. Buhari Buhari snubbed the same Nigerians he now wants their votes by refusing to appear before Justice Oputa Truth and Reconciliation Panel. Buhari knew how important reconciliation is to the stability of democracy, yet he refused to appear before the panel. 8. He Cannot Formulate A Good Economic Policy: True to that, Buhari is the only former Head of State without a legacy. Not even one, despite ruling with iron-fist for 2 years. Someone said, Environmental sanitation is his legacy LOL and I ask, how has that improved our economy? Or is Nigeria now the cleanest country in the world with a booming tourism industry? And again, those that attended his declaration were disappointed as he couldn't present a manifesto on how he can solve the numerous problems confronting Nigeria. We keep hearing from the Buharists: “I will fight corruption; I will stop corruption; I will end corruption.” How? By mouth? Recall what BBC said about Buhari's economic policy: “ Buhari's attempts to re-balance public finances by curbing imports led to many job losses and the closure of businesses. These losses were accompanied by a rise in prices and a decline in living standards.” His economic policy started the devaluation of naira. During Shagari/Ekweme's regime, $1 = N0.550 but before the end of his tenure in 1985, $1 = N0.894. 9. He Clamped Down On The Press: With the infamous Decree 4, he closed down Newspapers, arrested and jailed many journalists such as Ndukar Irabor and Tunde Thompson of the Guardian Newspaper on stories that were factual. He told the Nigerian journalists then that it did not matter whether the story reported was true or not, if his regime did not like it, the writer would go to jail. At a point Tai Solarin became the only voice who could speak as he stood at the road corner and was distributing leaflets detailing the various atrocities of Buhari. He arrested and jailed him. In prison, he was denied his asthmatic drug. He was released by IBB and later died of complication from the torture he suffered in prison. 10. He Is Not A Man of Principle And Integrity: Since 2003, Buhari has been jumping from one party to another in his desperate and endless quest to rule Nigeria. He started with ANPP in 2003 to CPC in 2011 and, now in APC. He might abandon APC for another party if they deny him ticket. 11. He Has No Regard For Human Rights: Mrs. Vera Ifudu, who was an NTA reporter then, was sacked for reporting what Dr. Olusola Saraki had told her in an interview about how the missing money was traced to Buhari's account at Midland Bank London branch. Vera eventually won her case of wrongful dismissal in court against the NTA and was financially compensated. Dim Emeka Odimegwu Ojukwu, who returned from 13 years exile, just a little over a year then, was as well locked up in Kirikiri Prison by Buhari. Up till today we were not told what his offence was. Busari Adelakun died of ulcer because Buhari refused him to be taken out of prison for medical attention. The then Gov. of Ogun State, Bisi Onabanjo suffered similar fate which we were told led to his untimely death. For using the US$2.8bn to sing, Buhari jailed Fela Anikulapo -Kuti on trumped up charges under emergency law which prompted the sentencing judge to confess that he was ordered to do so and apologised to Fela. It was Buhari's administration that said it has “decided to deal with this Fela problem once and for all.” Buhari used retrogressive law to execute three Nigerians: Lawal Ojuolape (30), Bernard Ogedengbe (29) and Bartholomew Owoh (26). One of those three – Ogedengbe – was executed for a crime that did not carry capital punishment at the time it was committed. 12. He Is Corrupt: That a blind man doesn't see the sun don't mean the sun is not up in the sky. That Buhari has not been jailed for corrupt practises doesn't mean he is not corrupt, after-all, nobody has jailed IBB, OBJ etc., yet people say they're corrupt. Buhari has never been able to account to Nigerians what he did with the N25 billion missing in PTF of which he was the chairman. Shagari incurred Buhari's wrath when he decided to investigate the US$2.8 billion that disappeared from NNPC account and traced to the Midland Bank, London. Justice Ayo Irikefe panel was set-up and Saraki headed the Senate committee. The following were unequivocally discovered: Firstly, a judicial panel was set up to trace the $2.8billion (Justice Ayo Irikefe panel). Secondly, a senate committee was also set up to trace the $2.8billion (headed by the elder Saraki). The findings of the senate committee were reported live on NTA by Vera Ifudu. Buhari overthrew the govt to burn and shred the evidence. Buhari got Vera Ifudu sacked. Vera Ifudu and the NTA went to court. Vera Ifudu won her case, got reinstated and was paid compensation A man that procured a loan of N27.5million to purchase his presidential form using man-know-man approach is definitely corrupt. Buhari ought to live by example. 13. He Is A Pretender And Deceiver : Buhari claims that he has no foreign bank account, no booming business, no house in Lagos or Abuja. He has 2 houses: one in Katsina and the other in Kaduna. Yet he has been contesting elections since 2003 and pursuing it up to the Supreme Court with his team of SANs. The minimum appearance fee for a SAN at the Presidential election case at the Supreme Court is N25 million. Where did he get this money? Can he tell us his sponsors? He borrowed N27.5 million to buy a form, yet he moves around in Chattered aircraft each time he wants to fly which is costlier than owing one. Buhari is definitely a pretender. 14. He Is A Tribalist: Since his days as a Head of State, he only appointed his people in important positions. As the chairman of PTF, he employed an overwhelming number of Fulani/Hausa/Moslem at the detriment of other groups and concentrated PTF projects in the North. He used the company of his in-law – ( Salihijo Ahmad ), Afri-Projects Consortium in executed all the projects. He shamelessly executed about 74% of the projects in the north and 26% in the entire south according to PTF Situation Report (Vol 2, 98). 15. He Has Soft-spot For Boko Haram: Buhari made the following statements which support Boko Haram: “The declaration of state of emergency in three Northern states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe is a grave injustice against the North.” – M. Buhari (Liberty Radio, June 2, 2013) “…when the Niger Delta militants started their activities in the South-South, they were invited by the late President Umaru Yar'adua. An aircraft was sent to them and their leaders met with the late President in Aso Rock and discussed issues. They were given money and a training scheme was introduced for their members. But when the Boko Haram emerged in the north, members of the sect were killed”. – M. Buhari (Liberty Radio, Kaduna May 14 2012) But on Ombatse, his tone changed because they killed Fulanis: “…But those that killed the 56 security men must be hunted and prosecuted no matter how long it will take because this is the bottom line about law and order, and security in the country. They can't be forgiven, they can't override the constitution, Nigerians are being hurt and killed in their duties and those that killed them must be brought before the law.” - M. Buhari 16. He Is Anti-development: Buhari stopped the Lagos metro rail even when the military Administrator for Lagos State, alerted him that on the clause in the contract ($60 million metro rail project) agreement that would yoke the state into debt, if the contract was cancelled unilaterally. He replied: “Mudashiru, I don't care”. Although the fund for the execution of the project which would have given Lagosians an intra-city light train transport system would not have come from Buhari's Supreme Military Council, Buhari, cancelled this project of the state government, with ethnicity on his mind. Till date no Nigerian city has metro rail. Buhari out of jealousy of the leadership acumen of Dede Sam Mbakwe, he stopped all the wonderful projects initiated by him in Imo State when he overthrew the Shagari's govt. Yet, Buhari left the govt without a legacy. What a man! 17 . He Hates Education: Just like Boko Haram, Buhari is a supporter of the almajir system. No wonder President Goodluck Jonathan is the person that established the first and only federal university in Katsina State – Buhari's State and 100s almaijiri's model schools across the northern region. People like Buhari are against the almajiri schools. 18. He Is Weak: It is a fact that Tunde Idiagbo was the brain and pillar behind the govt of Buhari. No wonder Buhari was thrown out in what was regarded as a Palace Coup when Idiagbo went to Mecca. If Buhari that ruled with absolute power and iron-fist couldn't protect his govt from being overthrown by junior officers, how could he safeguard and protect Nigeria in this turbulent time. 19. He Is A Product of Corruption And Nepotism: The manner and swiftness Buhari rise in the army can only be possible in a system where nepotism reign supreme. At 21, Buhari was cadet trainee; at 23 he was promoted as Commander 2nd Infantry Battalion; at 25 he was appointed Brigade Major, 2 Sector 1st Infantry Division; at 28, he was promoted Brigade Major and Commander, 31st Infantry Brigade; at 29 he was promoted Assistant Adjutant-General 1st Infantry Division Headquarters; at 34 he was appointed the military governor of North-Eastern State; at 39 he was appointed Chairman NNPC and GOC, 3rd Armoured Division, Jos, 1981-83; at 42, he shot his way to Dodan Barracks as Head of State. Most of these promotions were with no further education/training. Buhari's kids and people still use Quota system education (to enable them go to school) and federal character for them to get jobs. Imagine when a kid from Ebonyi State needs to score minimum of 112 in Common Entrance exams and another kid from Sokoto (a state that is older than Nigeria), Yobe etc., need only 9 and 2 respectively in the same exam. Remember that these kids wrote the same exam, in the same country, at the same time and answered the same questions. What corruption is worse than this? Yet Buhari has never condemned it. 20. Buhari Is Just Perpetually Unelectable: To those that still think Buhari would one day rule Nigeria again, ask Nasir El-rufai, he has the answer: Facts are sacred, but not to the Career Buharists . To them, Buhari is God's 'gift' to mankind and the most popular politician that can solve our numerous problems in a jiffy. Behind these accolades from his admires, is a man that has lost presidential elections three times consecutively. In 2003, over 24 million Nigerian rejected him. The same number rejected him in 2007 and in 2011; about 22 million rejected him. The excuse has been that, he was rigged out, but facts and figures proved that he is definitely unelectable |

The governorship candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in Rivers State, Tonye Princewill, has accused Governor Rotimi Amaechi of selling the state’s assets to an indigenous oil company, Sahara Energy, and using the fund that accrued from the sale to finance the activities of the All Progressives Congress, APC. PREMIUM TIMES recently reported how assets such as Olympia Hotel, Abonemma Wharf, Risonpalm and the power generating stations in the state were sold to Sahara Energy. Mr. Princewill alleged that the over $800 million realized from the sale of the assets was never lodged into the coffers of the state government. “Money changed hands but the accounts they entered were not necessarily Rivers state government’s officially operated accounts,” he said. He also alleged that there is no evidence of competitive tendering, independent valuation or a transparency in the entire process, arguing that the “Rivers people cannot be sure they got a good deal”. “In one instance approximately $400 million changed hands over an asset that could easily be worth twice that. Why the secrecy?” he said. Mr. Princewill, who said he worked for the success of Mr. Amaechi during his election in 2007, also accused the governor of using threat and intimidation to force the sale of the assets to Sahara Energy after the company began to develop cold feet funding the politics of an opposition party. “Incidentally the partners in the company (who were) uncomfortable with the obvious attempt to finance the politics of Amaechi hesitated to approve the transactions. “But a prompt threat from the Rivers Government made them rethink. Can anyone say they did not know what the money would be used for? “Amaechi is one of the chief financiers of the APC election and a close ally of Buhari,” he said. He also accused the Rivers governor of using some of the proceeds of the sale to launch international propaganda for the 2015 election. “Information reaching me is that international media organizations have already been paid in USD from these transactions to come and cover the 2015 elections in a Tahrir square strategy. “The aim of the opposition is to gather crowds in a single location and beam pictures around the world creating the impression that the whole country is in chaos,” Mr. Princewill said. Efforts to get the Rivers Information Commissioner, Ibim Semenitari, to react to the allegations were unsuccessful. She did not return calls and sms sent to her at the time of publishing. Why I moved to Labour Party PREMIUM TIMES’ exclusive chat with Mr. Princewill was preceded by a Press Conference, in which he told the media the reasons he recently left the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the Labour Party, LP. He said the PDP did not treat all the aspirants in Rivers State fairly in the process that produced former Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, as the candidate of the party in the state. He said rather than agonise like others, he chose to look for a platform that shares the same belief and aspirations like him to actualize his dream of running for governor. “2015 has been on our mind since 2007, the time has come and we have tried as much as we could to play it fair, and reasonable, but the PDP felt that in their best interest they are going to impose a candidate on us. “While other aspirants had not had the good fortune, wisdom, courage or opportunity to move parties, I have; and I have moved into a party that I can quite comfortably call home,” he said. He said he strongly believes that he has the support of the people, because unlike most politicians from the state, he declined to take up positions in the Senate and the federal cabinet. “I declined both Senate and Ministerial positions to remain with the people. “I stayed out of government and kept my political structure intact,” he said. Mr. Princewill also stated that politicians are often forced to move from one party to another because most political parties in Nigeria lack ideology. He, however, said the Labour Party is different because it stands for something, which he also believes in. “The Labour Party has an ideology and concept of what government should be doing which is similar to my own,” he said. “I am someone who believes that business should be allowed to thrive, but the ordinary people must be carried along, jobs need to be created and people need job security. I also believe that we should be looking at jobs for all, not just creating contracts for a few and in that light, the Labour party and myself share quiet a lot. “We believe in social housing, free education, free health care and also believe that business should be partners with employees instead of a master/ servant relationship,” he said. Mr. Princewill said the Labour Party would be his last political party. “It is safe to say that I am not going to be moving again, if Labour party disappoints my constituency, then I will be quitting politics completely. I am not going back to PDP under any circumstances. “I intend to finish my political career in the Labour Party whether I win or lose the next election,” he said. He added that with his movement to the party and his adoption as its candidate, eleven other political parties have joined forces to endorse him as their candidate in 2015 “A press conference will be held in the next few days to unveil that position. For 2015 in Rivers State, it is going to be the PDP, APC, and the rest. We are the underdogs, but that is the kind of underdog I prefer to be,” he said. |
