PoliticsAPC, A Party Of Shameless, Desperate Liars – PDP by naija2dabone(op): 3:37pm On Aug 01, 2015
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), as a party of shameless and desperate liars.

The party berated the APC for sticking to its lies and empty denials despite overwhelming evidences that the new Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Alhaji Lawal Daura is an APC member.

PDP National Publicity Secretary Chief Olisa Metuh in a statement on Saturday said the spate of lies chunked out by the APC and its spokesperson, Alhaji Lai Mohammed in the desperation to suppress the truth is not only reprehensible but also symptomatic of lack of character.

“When the matter first came up, the APC spokesman hurriedly went on air on RayPower radio wherein he stated categorically to the nation that he never knew or met “the man”, and that “the man” has never had any contact or dealing whatsoever with the APC as a party before his appointment as DSS Director General.

“When we came up with the newspaper advertorial sponsored by the APC wherein it announced Alhaji Daura as a member of its campaign Intelligence Committee, a very important position vested on him by virtue of his membership of the party, as well as pictures of him with other members of the committee, Lai Mohammed started singing a new tone, insulted PDP leaders as hallucinating out of poverty and asked PDP to produce Daura’s membership card and evidence of registration.

“We ask, is APC demanding that the PDP invade Daura’s house to get his personal card? Or that we should go to Daura to get the APC ward register? How on earth does the APC spokesperson want us to go and ask a man in charge of arresting and detaining people who hold views contrary to those of his party and government to give us his party membership card? How on earth can the PDP request and get the APC membership register in Daura’s ward? Who do Lai Mohammed and the APC think they are fooling? Nigerians?” the PDP queried.

The PDP noted that in his lame effort to defend his party, the APC spokesman either intentionally lied or exhibited crass ignorance by trying to equate the DSS with the National Orientation Agency (NOA), the Police Service Commission (PCC), or the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) where a Democrat, Mr. Leon Panetta was named by President Obama as head.

“Perhaps Mr. Lai Mohammed needs to constantly update and crosscheck his facts. We wish to inform him and the APC that there is a great difference between the CIA and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) after which the Nigerian DSS was fashioned.

“Whereas the US FBI and the Nigerian DSS are vested with the statutory tasks of providing domestic intelligence, security service and criminal investigations among others for the state and can be equated with the British M15 and Russian FSB, all of which have their headships insulated from politics, the CIA on the other hand is vested with collecting of intelligence overseas, the same role as Nigeria’s National Intelligence Agency (NIA).

“Furthermore, the NOA and PCC are agencies that have no powers to investigate, arrest or detain, neither can they be used to harass, hound or intimidate. Also, we wish to remind Lai Mohammed that Mr. Mike Omeri, in writing, declined the appointment into the PDP campaign committee because of his position as Director General of the NOA. We note therefore that in drawing his comparisons, Mr. Mohammed either exhibited high level ignorance or acted ostensibly to deceive Nigerians yet again.

“Severally in the past, we have exposed Lai Mohammed in terms of lies but instead of retracing his steps, he keeps on moving from one ‘lai’ to the other. Only in May this year, Lai Mohammed nearly derailed the transition programme when he issued a false statement alleging that the APC team was being frustrated, just for the head of the APC’s Transition Committee, Alhaji Ahmed Joda to announce that there was nothing of such.

“Nigerians have not forgotten how Lai Mohammed had in June 2014 issued a statement wherein he alleged that a plane carrying Kano state Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso to attend an APC rally in Ekiti was denied landing permission in Akure, only for Kwankwaso’s Director of Press Affairs, Baba Dantiye to announce that his boss was at another event in Kano and had no plans to travel to Ekiti state.

“The APC spokesman should know that being a spokesperson of a political party does not mean he should be dishing out lies. He should shed his unnecessary arrogance and understand that the APC did not win the Presidential election on account of his lies and deceit. In fact, this constant falsehood has become a huge embarrassment and source of worry for responsible and respectable persons in the APC.

“Quite often, he boasts of arranging a course for the opposition. We ask, is he arranging a course in lies? For the umpteenth time, let us inform him and the APC that the PDP does not need their course on the spreading of hatred and strife with lies, propaganda and deceit. Our form of opposition is focused only on constructive criticisms while presenting credible alternatives to the policies and programmes of the present administration.

“Our worry however is that the APC spokesperson has so negatively influenced some hundreds of young people who now engage in abuses as a model for effective communication and this is not healthy for the polity. We urge Nigerians to purge themselves of this poisonous mode of communication so that we can have credible and decorous political discourse in this country” the party said.

The PDP insisted that in appointing its member to head the DSS, a very sensitive security agency vested with numerous powers, the APC has annexed the Service as a tool to suppress the opposition and other Nigerians who hold views contrary to that of government, thus preparing the ground for dictatorship and a reign of terror on the people.

“No wonder we are now witnessing invasions of houses of PDP members as well as harassments, arrests and detentions of electoral officers and tribunal members in Akwa-Ibom, Rivers and other PDP state where the APC is desperate to upturn our electoral victory at all cost and by any means”, it stated.

The party however restated that no amount of harassment and threats or conniving with people, whether disgruntled PDP members or staff, can intimidate, blackmail or distract the PDP from discharging its duty to Nigerians, of providing constructive and credible opposition to the policies and programmes of the present administration.

PoliticsRe: Duke Abiola: $9.3b Not $6b Was Stolen By Jonathan’s Minister by naija2dabone(m): 4:39pm On Jul 31, 2015
Edo State governor who accompanied Buhari in 4-days State visit to United States has alleged that A minister who served under the former Goodluck Jonathan administration, stole $6billion (more than N1.2 trillion), he told Reporters on Monday.

But quick contact with United States Department in Washington-DC, on the matter said it is false allegation. US State Department denied the story, asked Oshiomhole, to name the official and not drag United States into Nigeria domestic politics, Republic Reporters gathered.

Oshiomhole who failed to disclose the name of the minister said the details were provided last week by United States officials during President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit there. Mr. Oshiomhole, who was part of the delegation, did not give the name of the minister.

“We have moved away from a president that doesn’t seem to know his powers to one that understands that he is a president of the country in the continent,” Mr. Oshiomhole said in response to criticisms of the trip by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

He spoke on Monday at the state house where he and the Kebbi State governor, Atiku Bagudu, as members of the APC governors’ forum, briefed President Buhari on the outcome of a discussion held with APC Senators Sunday.

“PDP destroyed the country- I mean from the lips of American officials; senior officials of the state department. They said one minister under PDP cornered as much as $6billion, and the man said even by Washington standard that is earth-quaking,” he said.

He said the country was being very patient with the PDP; otherwise Nigerians would have been “stoning” anyone carrying the badge of the party.

Mr. Oshiomhole said the PDP government plundered Nigeria, destroyed its institutions, damaged the military, converted the NTA to a party megaphone, destroyed the SSS, went after opposition, and compromised even student unions.

Mr. Oshiomole said under the PDP, there was no law as they were law to themselves. “We are a very patient people. If we were not a patient people, anybody wearing the tag of PDP ought to feel very unsafe because you are all victims- all of us here,” he said.

He quoted American officials as saying that Mr. Jonathan was seen as a confused president who did not know what they issues were, leaving others outside the country “frustrated”.

Recalling a chat with the US Assistant Secretary of State, Johnnie Carson, on the difference between the two administrations, Mr. Oshiomhole said Mr. Carson told him that each time they thought that there was light at the end of the tunnel for Nigeria and it is time to encourage them to build on it, “you we would wake up the following day under president Jonathan to find out that even the tunnel had been removed”.

“Now last week, this same Carson cheered the president’s address at the Institute of Peace. And he said ‘we now have a man of enormous integrity; one that has shown so much faith in the democratic process; one that refused to be frustrated even in the face of massively rigged elections,” he said.

Few years back, In the heat of our politicking, some opposition politicians in APC (one of them is a Governor now) were sending false information to the international community about the Nigerian army.

They sent videos of Boko Haram members wearing army uniforms and beheading innocent civilians and the they claimed they were members of the Nigeria armed forces killing innocent civilians. They sent some to amnesty international, thinking they were fighting Jonathan.

Some youths in Yobe beheaded an innocent operative of DSS while those of Bornu were wearing t-shirts with inscriptions like "I love Boko haram". They refused to support the military, they were supporting their brothers. The northern elites weren't left out as they openly and covertly gave support to boko haram thinking it will further their desire to take back the presidency.

Jonathan was confused but tried to be calm.

The Bornu elders brought all sort of charges against the military and Ihejirika while they were shielding boko haram and in fact a leading northern leader once said killing boko haram fighters was injustice to the North.

Petitions fell upon petitions at Amnesty international from the Northern elements. To them, they were doing politics. Jonathan must go and it doesn't matter how we do it, power must just return to the North.

Our military was accused of human rights abuses by Amnesty International while boko haram continues to unleash terror. The military lost credibility and some of our army chiefs were threatened with prosecutions of war crime while no one asks Shekau why he is killing.

United States and her allies were compelled by a particular Leahy law not to sell sophisticated weapons to militaries with human rights abuse tags like the current Nigerian army.
All efforts by the Jonathan administration to lobby US and UK governments to sell weapons to Nigerian military fell on deaf ears while boko haram continued its killing spree in the face of our poorly armed military.

And Jonathan looked eastwards after the south African mess (also courtesy opposition politicians) and found help in China, Parkistan and Russia. But time was against him. The elections are close, the deed is done. The clueless, weak and corrupt tag stuck on him. He was labelled a failure for not being able to protect his citizens. That's politics.

He got the weapons, shifted elections by six weeks amidst all sort of mischievous allegations and the military found its rhythm and in six weeks, boko haram fell and it's armies were chased tail in legs out of sambisa forest.

And he lost the elections despite that.

Now, those who destroyed the Nigerian military in the name of politics have taken over the government. Boko haram is back in full force and those who promised to lead from the front are no where to be found.

Boko haram have been able to regroup and now controls five local governments again and our press who were very active in spreading boko haram gospel back then are suddenly quiet. It was all about Jonathan before now.

The citizens now watch helplessly as the killings continue and those who have the courage to ask questions are labelled as unpatriotic by the idol worshippers who worship men like gods.
The APC led government delegation was in America but to the surprise of some, America bluntly refused to go into arms deal with Nigeria. Those who blackmailed the Nigerian army and accused them of human rights abuses are now the ones begging US to sell arms to them.

1. Buhari lied to us.

I’m not referring to only the certificate saga, no. Buhari came to back riding on public sentiment as a poor folk who could not afford the APC presidential nomination form and hard to take a bank loan. A man with “only one house in Kaduna and 30 cattles in daura” but now we know better. This man has amassed wealth over the years, funding 4 presidential campaigns and sending his children to choice schools round the globe. Be deceived by his ‘talaka’ posture at your own peril. And please don’t expect that his assets declaration will ever be made public

2. Buhari belong to some people

Buhari is a northern agenda, period. He belongs to the north. Want proofs? While BH has stroke over 13 times since he assumed power killing over 500 people, his first target for air bombardment is, wait for it, Cross river!

3. Buahari’s cattle are more important than Chibok girls

Two presidential visits amidst completely rudderless piloting the affairs of the nation indicates priority preference. As far as the APC and BBOG are concerned, the Chibok girls were just pawns in the political chess game of 2015

4. APC has no plan, no programme

A truck loads of promises without an action plan for actualising any, that the best summary for the APC government. Its all talk, talk and more talk
5. The expected ‘Change’ may never come

Now, if you dare mention any of Buhari promises, his supporters will quickly deny he ever made such promise. Naira equalling the dollar, allowance for unemployed, 20mw of electricity, just forgets it. These were mere gimmicks

6. Media Propaganda is central to this administration

Buhari first and only appointment were that of special advise on media and presidential spoke man. Its a template perfected in Lagos and now deployed to the centred. Remember, Lagos budgeted N6billion for media and ‘strategy’. It’s going to be a four years of high wire propaganda, fasten your seat belt.

7. APC has no clear leadership structure

Nigeria currently have 3 presidents namely: Buhari, Tinubu, and Saraki. And every has an ace. Cant say more than APC national chairman himself who said that ‘Buhari is not the leader of our party, we have many leaders’

8. Jonathan is still the benchmark

For now and perhaps for the next four years, Jonathan is the benchmark. Ok we were told the man is ‘clueless’ yet at every turn the current administration keep benchmarking their performance with Jonathan’s. Or out rightly copying his. Jonathan visited Chad, buhari too visited Chad, Jonathan established

9. BBOG was a sham, Obi Ezekwesilli has no shame.

What happen to the seat out in Abuja, has the Chibok girls been found? Is Obj corrupt or not?

10. The excuses will keep flowing for the next four years.

Everything and everyone has been blamed for Buhari non performance. From jonathan’s failure to give him tips on governance to Saraki victory as senate president, to NOE scarf, to Aso rock repainting to the lack of helipad in Daura, to the president of West Germany. And the excuses for non performance keep

PoliticsGoodluck Jonathan 10 Achievements That Buhari Must Not Take Credit For by naija2dabone(op): 2:47pm On Jun 17, 2015
1. THE PORT HARCOURT AND KADUNA REFINERIES: The contracts for the reactivation of these refineries were awarded and effectively funded by the Jonathan administration and in a matter of weeks, the Port Harcourt refinery will resume production. The Buhari government did not contribute a dime to this.

2. THE DEFEAT OF BOKO HARAM: It will amount to a dismal disappointment on the part of the Buhari government if by the end of this year, the Boko Haram insurgents have not been fully eliminated. This is because Goodluck Jonathan has done almost all the jobs that needed to be done in the fight against that terror group. We must not forget that Jonathan’s government sacked these terrorists from territories bigger than the entire Belgium, which they occupied and also led a massive onslaught against them in Sambisa Forest. Jonathan oversaw the killing of the group’s leader, Abubakar Shekau and in the latest video released by that group, the seemingly invincible Shekau was nowhere to be found.

3. IMPROVED POWER SUPPLY: The Jonathan administration laid down a solid foundation for the effective take-off of stable power supply in the country. Jonathan ensured that the seemingly impossible privatization of power distribution was achieved and raised our electricity generating capacity to about 6000 Megawatts and laid down infrastructures that will ensure the raise to about 40,000 in the next two years. Therefore, Buhari should be called to question if he fails to follow up Jonathan’s achievements in the power sector.

4. REFORMS IN THE PETROLEUM SECTOR: The Jonathan administration is most responsible for the massive turnaround experienced in the petroleum sector. Many of the reforms pursued by the Jonathan administration threatened the criminal interests of some of Nigeria’s biggest political heavyweights, hence, their desperation to throw him out of power. Jonathan’s ‘defeat’ in the 2015 elections would not have been possible, if he had looked the other way, as these criminals continued to have their way in destroying our petroleum sector. The absence of any vote for subsidy in the 2015 budget is one of the best legacies, Jonathan left for the country. If Buhari follows this up, then, we should be in for good tidings in that sector before the next three years.

5. DIVERSIFICATION OF THE ECONOMY: The Jonathan administration has done very well in diversifying the Nigerian economy, pulling us out from an oil dependent economy to an economy that can be sustained through agro products, mining of other mineral resources resident in the country and also non-tangible resources like the creative industry and sports, where Jonathan called attention to and which ensured that Nigeria took its rightful place as Africa’s biggest economy.

6. THE EDUCATION SECTOR: The government of Goodluck Jonathan holds the record as the administration that gave the highest percentage of its budgetary allocations to the education sector, he raised the standard of education in the country, raised the salaries of teachers and tertiary education workers. Jonathan also ensured that the ETF, TETFUND and other educational funds worked optimally, which saw to the massive construction and rehabilitation of many infrastructures across our campuses.

7. CREDIBILITY OF OUR ELECTIONS: The Jonathan administration is duly credited with conducting the best and most credible elections in the history of Nigeria. The 2011 elections received due encomiums from various election observer groups and agencies, and the 2015 election while fraught with mind boggling irregularities was also commended by observers as one of the best elections to be conducted in Nigeria. Jonathan succeeded in improving our electoral processes, because he refused to interfere in the workings of the electoral commission. Buhari is a direct beneficiary of this great reform.

8.IMPROVED SECURITY: Already the gains made by the Jonathan administration in the area of security of lives and assets are being eroded as criminals are beginning to resurface where they fretted to appear during Jonathan’s reign. We must not forget that Jonathan met a Southeast deserted by its biggest men because of the fear of kidnappers, but in less than two years of his administration, the kidnappers were sent packing from all parts of the Southeast. Jonathan also met a restive Niger Delta, but he was able to calm the region by continuing with the implementation of the Amnesty program designed by his predecessor, and also coming all out against other militants who refused to surrender. We cannot forget in a jiffy, the troubles of John Togo and his recalcitrant criminals who terrorized the oil region till Jonathan cut them to size. Also, the splinter Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), led by Henry Okah were effectively cut to size. Buhari inherited a relatively peaceful and well secured country, and he would be failing Nigerians, if he allows the country to relapse into insecurity.

9.CIVIL SERVICE REFORMS: The Jonathan administration scored good points in reforming our civil service and making it more productive. He blocked lots of avenues through which public funds were being frittered away. One of such is the introduction of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS), which has drastically reduced incidents of corruption in the civil service by more than fifty percent.

10. SPORTS DEVELOPMENT: You may recall that our sports sector started witnessing great fortunes after the retreat for the sports sector convened at the instance of former President Jonathan, and this ensured the great successes we recorded in the sports sector during Jonathan’s reign. Our sportsmen were adequately motivated by the government and top of the class sports administrators were appointed into the right positions, while government kept regular tabs on our sports development to see where and how best they can help. Today, the only thing President Buhari really needs to do is to just relax, grease the machinery Jonathan had put in place and Nigerians will be in for celebrations as laurels will continue flowing in from our sportsmen and women.
