The North that have been ruling Nigeria for up 35years and counting, how far have the North developed? What is the point of being president yet your region is the most backwards??
PoliticsRe: "Why Igbo Man Can Never Be Nigeria’s President" – Junaid Mohammed by NaijaEfcc(op): 4:02pm On Oct 10, 2017
You see my problem with this kind of people, Igbos fought the civil war, their region was destroyed but look at the region now, without being the president the Igbo region is way ahead of the North in terms of development even in education, the North that have ruled more than the South is still backwards so who president epp? Only the northern elite!! Smh
Politics"Why Igbo Man Can Never Be Nigeria’s President" – Junaid Mohammed by NaijaEfcc(op): 3:56pm On Oct 10, 2017
A Second Republic lawmaker, Dr Junaid Mohammed, has alleged that Igbos are using the agitation for Biafra to blackmail the North into ceding the 2019 presidency to them.

Mohammed insisted that such move will only prevent the South East from producing Nigeria’s president because, “democracy is a game of numbers,” adding that nobody can tell “people to vote for you because you are being irresponsible.”

Speaking with The Sun, Mohammed maintained that Igbos caused the Civil war that claimed the lives of over one million people.

Mohammed wondered why the same people who caused the Civil war will now turn around to demand for Presidency.

He said, “The Igbo are clamouring for an additional state, one of the reasons they are now talking about Biafra, even though the real reason is that they want to blackmail the North, to concede presidency to them.

“By this means, they will never get any hope for presidency because democracy is a game of numbers. You cannot tell people to vote for you because you are being irresponsible.

“You caused the civil war that claimed over one million people, you will now come back and demand as a right that you must have a president. Is it democracy they are talking about or secession?”

libertyhope2017:
OP...even though I agree with you, but can we be realistic? Is it possible to revert back to merit based system and sustain it? Do you know that the hate against Igbos started when they dominated everything when WHITES were in charge and after they left? That's what brought the hatred against Igbos by Hausa-Fulani and Yorubas. They didn't just start hating Igbos for no reason...something caused it!

Again, I get your point, I support it but can we sustain it without hating the person at the top? As it'a right now, if you take away quota system in the educational sector for example, Igbos will flood our educational system with huge representation more than others which will bring about more hate. I'm not the one saying this, the statistics say this as their cut off mark is higher than others and same goes with their performance in WAEC and Jamb. It's one thing to be clamoring for merit based system but don't cry or hate have when a people who are not your own occupy the top.

Though I agree with you, I'd rather prefer we separate and go our own ways, and for every people to develop at their own pace which will stoop the envy and hate.
I don't think anyone will complain as far as you deliver !! If it will take an all Northerners in the government to turn Nigeria into a developed country, I swear I don't mind!! All I want is the best !! Ask your self how many times have you applied federal character in your life ? Like example you want to buy stuffs in the market, what do you look out for? Will your criteria be based on best product or origin of the seller? Federal character?? Or merit??

Why are some people like this? You only bring up this federal character talk when the Super Eagles win games. But when they lose games with this same exact squad, you don't emphasize merit or ethnic makeup. The lads that lost to Ghana by 4 points last week or so weren't accused on the basis of federal character so why now? This divisive superiority complex talk needs to stop. angry
it's still the same thing dude! Wonder how you think it's different? And what do you mean by "divisive superiority complex talk" ? You think is blowing grammar that you can't explain up and down? I know your type, always afraid to say the truth as it is!! What has federal character done for us? Do you apply federal character in your life everyday? Nonsense!! angry I don't care where anybody comes from all I want is the best !

You are right...
Take a good look at any Nigerian sports team
It's made up of more than 80% southerners
And the team will surely progress
This is because... Intellectually... Physically and otherwise.. . The southerners are way head of their Northern peers..

When it comes to politics and governance
Instead of doing the same thing
The reverse is the case
The northerners hijack all delicate positions
You can imagine when a dullard like buhari who can't pass waec is the minister of petroleum...
What is the fate of such ministry...

If you doubt me
Let Nigeria be represented by a team made up of 80% northerners.... In sports or anything
Let's see the outcome
well I don't really care if the team is made up of Southerners or Northerners, all I care for is get the best outcome for me !!!
PoliticsSuper Eagles vs Federal character by NaijaEfcc(op):
the super Eagles have qualified, we are all happy, rejoicing that we are going to world cup to be held in Russia next year, Super eagles were in a group which is made up of Algeria, Cameroun(the reigning African champion) and Zambia, they were able to make it out of the group, Nigeria became the first country in Africa to qualify for the world cup, the make up of super eagles got me thinking, apparently the make up was individuals who were considered to be the best at the moment and can deliver what is needed, as can be seen in the past, if you fail to deliver you are dropped instantly like hot potato irrespective of your expoilts or heroics in the past as can be seen in the case of the former captain Ahmed Musa and many others.

in this case there was no federal character, otherwise Musa would have been playing and we would have kept the likes of Moses, Iwobi, Simon on the bench or not in the team at all, probably mikel, onazi, ndidi, balogun, ekong and co won't be in the team while other guys who might not be better than them will be in the team instead, and obviously we will fumble and tumble like the case of the Nigerian government we have today. If we can be this serious and choose a team based on merit on such "trivial matter" like football, why then can't we do the same for serious business that are vital to our lives like our government! We have seen that a team chosen by merit is better than one chosen based on federal character, this achievement of the super eagles tho the team is comprised mostly of Southerners brought happiness to everyone in the country! The happiness doesn't know federal character, the success and the gains it will bring doesn't know federal character rather everybody is now enjoying the fruits of this labour, funny enough the head coach is not even a Nigerian!! So my fellow compariots lets eschew sentiments and let's go for the best irrespective of tribe/ethnic group, religion/belief or colour!

just look at your sense of reasoning, and u think Nigeria would have progressed If not for amalgamation. Is it not the Yoruba, igbo and Hausa that are equally corrupt?
so how come the North is the most backward and least developed, despite having ruled Nigeria more than the south? Believe me the south would have gone far if not for the north that is holding us back!!!

Buhari’s Emergence As Petroleum Minister Helped Promote Corruption, Says RichardsThe Executive

Directorr of Corruption Observatory, Mr. Ivie Richards has condemned in strong terms, the position of President Muhammadu Buhari as Minister for Petroleum Resources, stressing it promotes corruption.

Mr. Richards made this known while speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, in Lagos on Thursday.

He said, “I quarrel seriously and I condemn in its entirety the fact that a sitting President doubles as the Minister for Petroleum. That has helped this rot a great deal and the right things need to be done.

“Again, that is another aberration. In that report, Kachikwu said that he is the Chairman of the board, but he is not the Minister for Petroleum.

“Minister is supposed to be the Chairman of the board. If you watch closely between the lines, you will see the insinuation that the tender board of the NNPC got some approvals from the President.

“What my real interest is here is to invite the organized civil societies, at least those concerned with good governance, to drag the tender board of the NNPC, its governing board, to court to let Nigerians know of all that is happening behind the curtains.

The CO’s boss further noted that if the allegation is proven true that President Buhari gave approval for procurement to NNPC’s board, it is more than enough ground to impeach the nation’s Commander-in-Chief.

“But my major interest and focus would be, ‘Is it true that at any time, the President gave approval tacitly to this procurement, direct approval to the Tender board of the NNPC?’ If that is true, to me, that is an impeachable offence.

“If you look at the case in Brazil, South Korea, for we know leaders have been shown the door. They are not as grievous as this. So I would want this nation, organized civil societies to properly unravel what happened between the Tender board of the NNPC and Mr. President,” he stressed.
