This is a joke, if you don't have a computer to teach Microsoft word template then why bother? These people are setting a bad precedent and promoting mediocrity all because of this generation's sense of entitlement. It is the duty of every government to adequately provide the necessary equipment for teachers to do their work. Also if the Facebook posters were so concerned, why didn't they contribute money to buy that school a used computer? No but they are quick to like silly posts urging Microsoft to buy computers for the school as if Microsoft is the state government. Foolish people, a white person will see a problem and start a gofundme campaign, these ones are looking for handout from Microsoft.
Don't mind those who are quoting you, and saying rubbish, they have a very low mentality!! You just made a good valid point!! Nobody is asking why is this school been so under funded!

To be honest anyone who schooled in Nigeria and acts surprised at the teacher's method of teaching is just forming and acting naive!!! This is a common thing in almost all our public primary and secondary schools especially in the village! Those of us who taught during NYSC can attest to this!! I have drawn alot on the board!! Here we learn with imagination!! So what's the fuss all about??! It's better we stop forming and do something about it!

94 School Girls Are Missing After Boko Haram Attacked All Girls School In Nigeria's Northeast

Parents and school authorities have revealed that at least 94 school girls from Government Girls Science and Technical Secondary School at Dapchi town in Bursari local government area of Yobe state are missing after an all-girls school was attacked by Islamist militant group, Boko Haram. The militants invaded the town on Monday and targeted the all-girls school after arriving the town around 7 pm with over 18 gun trucks. A community source told Saharareporters that at least four bodies of students were recovered from the bush in the nearby town of Kusur.

Although the raid happened on Monday, the school authorities and parents waited to do a head count of the students to be sure of the exact situation. According to residents of the community, Boko Haram terrorists came into Dapchi town with trucks mounted with high caliber weapons shooting sporadically and later headed to the girls' hostels at the school where some 740 girls were resident. The sound from the sect’s militants explosives and gunshots alerted the students and their teachers who immediately scampered into nearby bushes for safety.

However, after the headcount on Tuesday, it was discovered that at least 94 of the girls were still missing. The school was immediately closed down while education authorities and security forces in the state began efforts to locate the missing students.

Residents and civilian militia groups in Dapchi say they believe Boko Haram had carefully planned to kidnap schoolgirls in their town over some time. A week before the attack soldiers protecting the town were moved elsewhere leaving the town vulnerable. Nigerian security forces backed by military jets later arrived Dapchi and "chased away" the terrorists who had continued on a looting spree. Nigerian military sources are unusually silent about latest claims by parents that the girls might have been abducted after Monday night raid. A military source last night told Saharareporters that they could not confirm or deny if the missing girls were abducted.

In April 2014, Boko Haram kidnapped more than 270 girls from a school in the northeastern town of Chibok in Borno state sparking global outrage that birthed the #BringBackOurGirls campaign. In September 2017, some 100 Chibok girls were reunited with their families after the Nigerian government shelled out over €2 million in ransom payments to Boko Haram terrorists. The deal also included a controversial prisoner swap deal with the Nigerian government that saw five Boko Haram top commanders released.

More than 100 schoolgirls remain in the custody of Boko Haram terrorists who are believed to be using them to negotiate for more cash and release of top terrorist commanders in the custody of Nigerian authorities.

PoliticsBuhari’s SGF Spends N65 Million On OSGF WEBSITE by NaijaEfcc(op): 8:41am On Feb 20, 2018
The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, OSGF, in 2017 appropriated and claimed to have spent N65 million on its website.

PREMIUM TIMES review of the 2017 budget performance of the OSGF revealed that N65 million was budgeted for the already existing website while the office claimed that N64, 855, 875, the amount released, had been fully utilised.

Quoted as ‘OSGF WEBSITE,’ the budget performance record remarked that the ‘procurement process is ongoing.’

The office of the SGF is currently occupied by Boss Mustapha who was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in October 2017. The office was formerly occupied by Babachir Lawal who was sacked after President Buhari adopted recommendations of a report of a panel headed by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, which investigated allegations against Mr. Lawal who was suspended for months.

PREMIUM TIMES could not ascertain which of the two government officials executed the project.

Appearing before the Senate committee in January 2018 to defend the 2017 budget performance, Mr. Mustapha said the office received 50 per cent of its appropriation for capital projects.

“Performance for capital is N1.2 billion released as at end of December, 2017. It represents 50 per cent. We are hoping that the National Assembly will extend the lifespan of the budget so that we can handle other procurement processes.

Apparently, the fund release for the website is one of those captured in Mr. Mustapha’s 50 per cent but the cost and execution of the project left more to desire.

Spokesperson to Mr. Mustapha, Mohammed Nakorji, when contacted, declined to answer PREMIUM TIMES’ questions on how the fund was disbursed.

“I’m not an accountant please,” he snapped.

Meanwhile, technology experts say the claim was suspicious and impossible.

After a review of the website, communications officer of Paradigm Initiative Nigeria, PIN, Sodiq Alabi said the claim that N65 million was spent on the website looked ‘very impossible.’

“We have reviewed the website, it is simply shocking that N65 million was spent on the website. It’s implausible,” he said. “OSGF must provide more details on what they did with the money. The website has no special features to justify more than a million naira budget.

“It doesn’t look like they are even updating the website. The copyright is 2013. It looks very impossible and suspicious. At least the SGF office should tell us what they did with the money. They should tell us what they did with the money so that Nigerian tax payers’ mind can be at rest.”

Cheta Nwanze, Head of Research, SBM Intelligence, after a review of the website, said the N65 million could never be justified.

He said, “The website was built using the Joomla CMS, which is a free content management system. All of the media is hosted on YouTube, which is an external server. It uses Google Hosted Libraries for its content distribution. No way can it cost ₦65 million, unless I heard you wrong.”

He said the maximum cost for such a website would be $105 per month.

“Depending on the hosting package, $100 per month can get you a very good hosting plan. If you insist on using Google apps to host your emails and documents, that’s $5 per user per month. So you can do the maths.”

WHY WE SHOULD DEMAND FOR PMB TO RE-CONTEST.

* Nigeria is rated the best in fighting corruption in Africa.

*Interpol Commends EFCC ‘s Anti-Graft Efforts, Recommends it As Model for Africa

* Nigerian stock is rated best in the world followed– So many foreign investors now find it more profitable to invest in Nigerian stocks than that of other developing and emerging markets.

* Ease of doing business is now better with Nigeria now rating 145th from previous 169th

*Nigerian style of fighting insurgency is rated the best–reported by top foreign media in 2017

* Nigeria got out of recession faster that every other country that was also in recession during the same period – country like Venezuela is still in recession, Brazil just got out.

* There is higher level of transparency in government than we've ever had, and foreign investors and countries are happier to do business dealings with us.

*Nigeria now produce more commodities than we've ever produced before.–export is encouraged.

*Execution of Projects is faster now than ever before – it took the combination of OBJ, Yar'adua and GEJ to build 3000MW of electricity; PMB has increased it in less than 3years to 7000MW.

*The country stopped saving in 2009, but resumed saving in with this administration – we currently have excess of $41b in our external reserves from $30b left by previous government.

*UK recently approved to receive Naira as lingual franca when purchasing in UK to strengthen our currency more, as they are now encouraged by the achievements of PMB – the last time Naira was accepted in west countries was in the 80s, when super markets accept our currency in the US.

*Comity of Nations respect Nigeria now–what was difficult to achieve with rebranding of the country's image by late Dora, is now possible with the integrity of PMB. The country has never had it this good in external relationship.

*There is higher level of military confidence from the cowardice and low morales by the military in the last dispensation.

A SUPPORT for PMB to CONTINUE beyond 2019 is an ASSENT to PROGRESS in NIGERIA.

I love Nigeria.

PoliticsI’ll Review Appointments To Address Marginalisation – Buhari by NaijaEfcc(op): 9:56am On Feb 10, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari told Catholic bishops in Abuja today that he would take a second look at appointments made by the Federal Government to redress issues being raised. He said the review will be done after a compendium of all appointments has been submitted to him. President Muhammadu Buhari He told the bishops, under the aegis of Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, that no ethnic group or political zone has been deliberately marginalised in the appointments made so far by his administration. The Nigerian leader was obviously reacting to criticisms that he may have violated the Federal character principle in some of the appointments made. The last time a compendium of appointments was done, the South West region led the rest of the country. President Buhari also explained that the policy proposed by Federal Government in response to the frequent clashes between herdsmen and farmers in the country is not meant to colonize any part of the country. Buhari said the intention of government is to create grazing locations for cattle rearers, which has now been misconstrued as another form of colonization. President Buhari regretted that the well-thought out policy of the Federal Government, which was conceived after wide consultations with stakeholders, had been largely misunderstood by a section of the public. He, however, assured the Catholic Bishops that the Federal Government will continue to explore all opportunities and support initiatives to ensure peace and stability in restive areas. Condemning recent spate of killings in Benue, Adamawa, Taraba, and Zamfara states, the President said security operatives would ensure prosecution of perpetrators and all those found with illegal arms in the affected areas. ‘‘The impression created that I was sitting in an air-conditioned office and home, enjoying myself while these things happened, is dishonest. ‘‘At every step, I have tried to foresee these problems because I have the experience as a former military officer who commanded three out of the four divisions of the Nigerian army, in Lagos, Ibadan and Jos. ‘‘I am quite aware of the problems we have and I am doing my best to get law enforcement agencies to be on alert,’’ he said. The President told the Catholic Bishops that he would not be tired of recounting remarkable progress recorded in the areas of security, economy and the fight against corruption. ‘‘We have done very well on security in the North East, when you compare what the condition was before we came in and what it is now. ‘‘On the economy, particularly agriculture, I am very pleased that God answered the prayers of Nigerians who prayed for bountiful harvest. ‘‘People have taken advantage of Federal Government policies and programmes to return to the farm and they have not regretted,’’ he said. On the fight against corruption, the President reiterated that government would be guided by the law in the investigation and prosecution of all graft-related cases. ‘‘People are being prosecuted systematically with evidence. ‘‘If a permanent secretary has five houses in Abuja, two in Kaduna and one in Borno and Sokoto and he can’t account for the properties and there are bank transactions linking him to the properties, the prosecuting agencies will not have difficulties to make progress on the case.” The Catholic bishops were led by Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama. Kaigama pledged that the Catholic Church in Nigeria would continue to support the Buhari administration and make its contribution to nation-building through prayers, admonitions and assistance to needy Nigerians. ‘‘As the voice of the people, we shall continue to highlight the plight of our people and play our prophetic role of sensitising the government, thus promoting good governance, national unity and cohesion,’’ Kaigama said.

PoliticsJonathan Made The ‘biggest Investment’ In Power Sector by NaijaEfcc(op): 4:11pm On Feb 09, 2018
Godknows Igali, former permanent secretary of the ministry of power, says ex-President Goodluck Jonathan made the “biggest investment” in power sector.

He said this while speaking with Gatefield TV, an online platform.

Igali said before leaving office, the former president completed most of the power projects that were abandoned.

He said before the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government came into power, there was no investment in terms of improving power generation “in spite of the growing economy and energy demands of the Nigerians”.

“Before that, for about 25 or 30 years, not a single power plant was built in the country. Which means that while the population was increasing and the economy was getting bigger, there was no value addition in terms of building increased power production,” he said.

“For a period of 20 years, not one single engineer was recruited into a sector that is largely an engineering sector. In fact even those who climbed poles had all aged.”

He also spoke about the privatisation plan of fomer President Olusegun Obasanjo which was probed by the national assembly under the administration of late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.

“When president Yar’Adua unfortunately passed on, Jonathan came in and ordered the immediate resumption of the NIPP projects,” Igali said.

“By the time he (Jonathan) was leaving in 2015, out of the ten power plants whose construction had stopped totally, were almost completed.

“In addition, they started a new power plant 215MW in Kaduna, which was about 80 percent completed; the Zungeru power plant conceived by the late Sardauna of Sokoto, Ahmadu Bello which was also initiated by Jonathan and 40 per cent completed by the time he was leaving office.

“The Gurara dam of 30MW was completed and the transmission lines had gotten up to Mando to target the industrial sector in Kaduna and the Kashimbilla dam which was conceived by president Obasanjo as an ecological project but redesigned to generate about 40MW of power targeting Benue and Taraba states.”

PoliticsFed Govt Has Created Millions Of Jobs, Says Minister by NaijaEfcc(op): 8:53am On Feb 05, 2018
THE Federal Government has created millions of jobs in sectors of the economythrough its various programmes, according to Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

Mohammed spoke at the Sixth Graduation Ceremony of the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI) founded by former Rivers First Lady Dame Judith Amaechi in Port Harcourt at the weekend.

A statement by Senior Adviser (media) tothe minister, SegunAdeyemi, quoted him as saying over seven million jobs have been created in the agriculture sector alone.

He said: “In agriculture, for example, this administration has created over seven million jobs. When the administration assumed office in May 2015, about five million farmers were engaged in rice production. Thanks to the administration’s Anchor Borrowers Programme, the number of farmers engaged in rice production today stands at 12.2 million. These are verifiable facts, not fiction.”

Mohammed said 69,736 jobs have been created in the Power, Works and Housing Sector. The administration’s National Social Investment Programmes, he added, have created about200,000 jobs, in addition to empowering 500,000 others under the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP).

“The Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing has created 69,736 jobs (direct and indirect) across the country. The power sector projects created 1,740 jobs, the Works Sector created 38,391 jobs while the Housing Sector created 29,605 jobs,” he said.

The minister also said the Home-Grown School Feeding Programme, through which 6.4 million school children in 33,981 schools across 20 states are being fed with one meal a day, has created jobs for 61,352 cooks.

He hailed Dame Amaechi for establishing the ESI programme, which is an entrepreneurial and skills acquisition programme for youths and women of the Niger Delta.

Such programmes, he said, complement the Federal Government’s efforts to provide jobs for the citizens.

“National development is not just the duty of the government, but that of the citizens. In other words, all of us, as citizens, have a role to play in ensuring the development of our nation. This has been amply demonstrated by Dame Judith Amaechi in setting up this Empowerment Support Initiative,” Mohammed said.

The minister urged the graduands to make the best use of the opportunities that the ESI programme has given them.
