So, you agree that your initial assessment is flaw? PS: Key criteria for accuracy of NIN as a population yardstick for a state is residency not citizenship. At the national level, residency is irrelevant. lawani: That applies to all states and not only Lagos |
Politics › Re: You Can Use NIN Statistics To Estimate Population Using One State As Reference by Naijaepic: 10:56am On Apr 11 |
This claim might not be totally true. I have my NIN registered when I was in Lagos back in 2011, I have had course to update some data from my new state many years later, what I find out is that the old addresses on the NIN is not editable. In my mind, even within a state, tenant can relocate, so why was that field unchangeable.
So, I believed if going by that claimed of yours, the data will be flaw.
PS: the same can be say of other state, where people have their NIN registered, but now reside in another state permanently. |

Welcome to the other side, surely you will survive. I was laid off at end of first quarter earlier this year from a remote company. Yet, all gratitude belong to God, we are still surviving. Earlier this morning, just had another promising interview which may leads to relocation. Duyt1798: Chai...
After 3 years and 4 months with a digital health company — where I grew from a Customer Success Coordinator to a Field Account Executive — I received the difficult news today that my role has been affected by a company-wide restructuring due to funding challenges from donors.
This is my first experience being on this side of a layoff. In the past, I’ve always been the one making the decision to move on. But this time, it hit differently — especially with family responsibilities, school fees, and no immediate health insurance coverage. The uncertainty is real, and so is the anxiety.
Still, I’m choosing to look at this as a pause, not an end. I’m deeply grateful for the experiences, the impact we made in transforming primary healthcare through digital innovation, and the relationships built along the way.
For those who’ve walked this path before — how did you navigate the transition, both mentally and professionally? Any advice or encouragement will be deeply appreciated. |

Politics › Re: Dangote Refinery Exports First Gasoline Cargo To U.S. by Naijaepic: 6:20pm On Sep 03, 2025 |
Looking at your first point, a question can be asked, given the fact that he came from predominantly Muslims community where there's higher tendency for the grand father to sired many offspring, why was not everyone or even 10 of Dangote emerge from that old wealth. Consider Dangote comes from matricial line ( I am not sure, if this is correct) Aside the Datanta MaiDeribe: While Aliko Dangote portrays himself as a self-made industrial titan, there is a compelling case to argue that he is, in fact, a full-fledged NEPO baby, leveraging inherited privilege and entrenched social networks to accelerate his rise:
1. Family Wealth and Influence • Dangote’s maternal family, the Dantatas, were among West Africa’s wealthiest dynasties in the 1940s–1960s. Wealth here is not just financial, it’s social capital, political connections, and elite networks, all of which are invaluable in business. • His paternal family also held wealth and influence, giving him access to elite education, mentorship, and exposure to high-stakes business early on.
2. Access to Capital and Networks • Starting a cement trading business requires seed capital, banking trust, and industry connections. While Dangote claims he started small, the ease of accessing credit, suppliers, and contracts in Lagos is highly unlikely for someone without elite backing. • Nepotistic leverage manifests subtly: his uncle provided initial guidance and a foothold in Lagos commerce, something most aspiring entrepreneurs never get.
3. Structural Advantage in Infrastructure & Government Contracts • Dangote’s empire thrived in sectors historically dominated by politically connected elites, like cement, sugar, and oil. • His success was facilitated by regulatory and government environments favoring those with insider knowledge and access. Ordinary entrepreneurs face significant barriers in these markets.
4. Branding as Self-Made While Benefiting from Legacy • Public messaging frames Dangote as building from scratch, but cherry-picking “working with an uncle” while downplaying inherited social, educational, and network advantages is a classic NEPO narrative. • True self-made billionaires rarely have direct family dynastic connections that shield them from systemic risks in emerging markets.
Congrats building it from the scratch, show some more empathy and sanitize your trucking system, too many Nigerians are dying for your profit. Lets aim for more dollars and also show mercy and pity. Nobody will be buried with a single dollar. We are all leaving it in this world. Whether millions or billions or trillions. |

The obvious question remains, why can't Enugu governments lay Water pipelines to that orji rivers or partner with Anambra government to facilitate access to drinking water in the state Ezewuzie01: They get their water from far flung places like 9th mile and Oji river near Anambra state. Some even transport water from Awka and Amansea in Anambra to Enugu town due to the huge demand for the product in Enugu urban. This is despite Peter Mbah claiming to have spent over 100 billion naira to give Enugu residents water. |

Are you saying that those water suppliers go to Atlantic ocean to transport the water to Enugu. What stop in drilling massive borehole across multiple locations to ease the citizens plight. I am sure, those tankers are getting the water from some private borehole around dawnomike: Enugu state from time immemorial is known not to have underground water hence, the need for residents to buy water from tanker operators. |

El-Rufai wa so hated that he had to come on TV to say he is not afraid of death, that no one lives beyond 40 (or was it 50) in his family, so he is already fulfilled if he dies as at that time.
Even my dad's house in Karmo was not spared. Although we had a government allocated property in the heart of GARKI, my dad built properties for rent in Karmo, all of which El-Rufai demolished.
At least, Wike makes provisions for compensation to people with valid documents or convincing plea, El-Rufai no consider anybody papa. The few people El-Rufai reallocated lands after displacing them from some key areas in the heart of town were inside Pegi, a community far inside Kuje Area Council where Fulani herdsmen showed them shege for years even up till Buhari's tenure.

Do you consider those "internal gang" who are privy to the undisclosed reason why you are asking student to resit the exam at a later date. Human being are generally wicked, and they will finger you brain until you misyarn. Whether now or later, human being will still get reasons to crucify someone they perceive as their enemies Omoawoke: Whoever advises jamb to make a public apology is the most idiotic person in the world of corporate image..
First you make a mistake, second you made a stupid judgement to come online and make an apology..

Chai!!!
In critical decision making, picking between two tough decisions…. you think it thoroughly and look at the long term effect of your decisions… make an apology now and lose an entire public trust over the years and future??
There are better ways to have gone about this… you could have called for a second jamb for everyone in later part of the year…. Something like second chance maybe in July to write jamb due to mass failure… The pubic will praise you for your goodness, and you internally deal with the situation and punish who needs to be punished… win win situation..
Now you tarnish your image, public trust!!! Worst of all bringing opportunities for people to start a tribal argument over nonsense

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: @33, I'm More Afraid Of The Future by Naijaepic: 5:08pm On Jan 03, 2025 |
You can check my previous post on some topic where I mentioned my second chance at life. I went back to university at almost 34yrs (official age). Got first salary job at 50k as intern after undergraduate, I got this during service year. Then, official salary at over 500k in less than 1yr after internship. At moment got foreign based remote job that pay in hard currency. Not everyone will got the second chance, but if you have not try, you wouldn't know if the second attempt is breakthrough you need in life. For many years before going back to university, I was of the opinion that you can succeed without certificate but in my cases, I was wrong. PS: My university certificate was required during documentation, not that it is prerequisite, I have the adequate technical skills the company was looking for, (but imagine, if I was unable to get the employment, despite having the skills?) Edit: My third child was on the way, when I got admission to the university. Breatheon: @33, I'm more afraid of the future
So reality is dawning on me for the tasks ahead.
Presently 33 with N85k/month salary job
During my days in school, I had thought life will be far better after school but here I am earning 85k/month and that is money that cannot even meet my immediate needs and not to talk of wants and unto other responsibilities.
By age, I'm supposed to have been married but still living in one room which is not advisable to even think of marriage in this condition.
To arrange myself for marriage, I need at least a one bedroom, furnished and comfortable. The yearly rent for that is about 400-450k
Then I am also worried about renewing the rent every year, year and year.
How about catering for the family? Aside rent, feeding, school fees (once married, you begin to reproduce), medical, clothing and so so and so forth.
To live a good life, you need a car for mobility sake as a family.
I can't continue to pay rent. Meaning I need to build a house.
Obviously, the 85k salary is not enough. I need to start a business.
And so many other issues giving me stress and sleepless night.
So my worry is, where would i get the money to do all these with these kind of job i am doing? For years i may not even raise a million naira.
I have seen situations where people no longer able to change clothes just because they now have a family and I'm trying to avoid that by all means.
I'm really really afraid of the future.
I feel there shouldn't be any future. |

But, from what was reported in that article it was an event that happened before obasanjo sic (2003 - 2007). Hence, he mentioned when obasanjo asked him to come and invest, he declined. How does Tinubulation got anything to do with that? Dangote was lamenting on past businesses that went south, and Tinubu policy was the causes?
