Politics / Re: Why Fela Fought MKO Abiola Over ITT (international Thief-thief) — Segun Aka Baso by naijaninja15: 7:09pm On Jun 19, 2018
Inasmuch as I have huge respect for Abiola and I totally agreed that his story from humble childhood to success is exemplary, I still believe that his role in Nigeria politics especially during the military era will remain a stain that cannot be washed away with all his good deeds. I am a Yoruba man and believe its important to enshrine light to Abiola's role in sponsoring some of the coups that brought in all these dictators that terrorize Nigeria for over 30 years. It is true that as a very intelligent man, Abiola's rise to the elite class gave him the opportunity to become friends with the young military officers that later became leaders of the country and that he served his then company ITT well by winning multiple contracts, but this is not an excuse to influence the polity of the nation by going to the extent of sponsoring ambitions of these officers in unconstitutionally obtaining power from the democratically elected government not matter how flawed the government was. It would be correct to say nemesis caught up with Abiola as history shows that the same people he sponsored to take power came back to bite him in his back by denying him his mandate. For these reason, we should be careful dishing out our sympathy to him. Having said this, it is note worthy that late in his life, Abiola stood up for the people by sacrificing his life for the people's mandate that was stolen. Abiola could have accepted his fate, give up on the mandate and people would have understood and reason with him, but he did what is right not for his own sake but for the future of Nigeria as a whole. For this Abiola will forever be amongst the greats in Nigeria.

And what do u know about his father? How old are u to know anything because from the smell of u I know from here u hardly pick up books to real talkless of researching into the past. U all idolize Fela and his father represented Fela for over 20yrs. His same father is the only one advocating for the release of El-Zakzaky and Dansuki, stating that their detention is constitutional. People like u will not first criticize ur father for spending too much money and time on nairabet, whereas ur brain rot at an exponential rate.
OneCorner:

Instead of him quoting others and criticizing them, he should first criticize is father first.

What exactly is the purpose of this article. Before y'all try to crucify me, I do not have anything against having rich parents; we all did not choose our parent, rather we were dealt what we got. Is he highlighting this as the peak of his career as biz man or is showcasing what he achieved at a tender age of 29? What exactly is inspiring in the fictitious story that sounds like something right outta a hardcover novel. Nothing to relate to in it, rather its all about his mountain view while driving to a Swiss Village, dinner in country club, driving along Malibu.

Nothing special about what he did at that age considering what has been invested in him all his life; best of education, exposure only money can buy, experience not found on the shelf of shoprite. Take a few minutes and listen to him about people in his connect, even going to the extent that he know MD of Chevron Nigeria. People like Paddy have at their disposal power to make things happen, will it be surprising if he buys a bank in Nigeria or acquire a telecom in Nigeria? Its his terrain, he was ED of Globacom and Conoil at the same time so tell me what is new.

The weirdest thing about the whole article was that he wrote it himself and that the story is about a near-kill. "Almost" nor dey win trophy nah, is either you win or you lose. This is all about a venture that failed, what he should have done is do it again and again until he actually wins. It is after a win someone somewhere will pick up a pen and write about it. Great men don't write their own story, it is always written on sands of time by someone else. Paddy did not take a cue from his father. It would be interesting to know how his dad is scolding him now. He was just impatient, wants his story out there so bad and cant wait that he had to do it himself.

You can disagree with me but I respect likes of Davido more, as his story wasn't written by himself rather it was by people wowed by his talent and hard work. Like him or not, Davido achieved his success without his father influence and the fact that he market a real product makes it harder, unlike this Paddy acquisition that is abstract in nature. In all, I do applaud him for his feat but he should have waited for his time which i know will still come.

How many Nigerian leaders, dead or alive have a past to fill such a big edifice. Not many I believe. I'm not a huge fan of OBJ, but if previous leaders have been using part of their loots to build things like this rather than stash it out in Swizz bank we may have almost 4 of such project in existence as we speak. I heard pple suggesting Dezani's loots could have provided Nigeria with at least 3 international standard hospitals. If Dezani had done that, we would still have complained it was stolen money. We need to start settling for lesser evil in our society rather than wishing for a white unicorn in form of saints. Hate him or like him, OBJ is still the most nationalistic leader we have alive and I applaud him for this project.

Business / Re: What 1 Trillion Naira Looks Like? Photo by naijaninja15: 11:23pm On Jul 21, 2016
This money is like N500,000,000. Using the bottom line, If you look at the bail in cubes you will see that (2 vertical bails and 2 horizontal bails). You will have 5 of that cubes in the bottom line, now multiply by 9 which is the levels vertically upward. So the first wall we see will be

4 bails x 5 rolls x 9 column = 180

4 x 250,000 (each bail) = 1,000,000

1,000,000 x 5 x 9 =45,000,000

Lets say we have 10 lines of this wall, then total will be :

10 x 45,000,000 =450,000,000

Approximate up with 50,000,000

Not more than N500,000,000

Celebrities / Re: Larry Williams: I Am Currently Homeless by naijaninja15: 5:21pm On Apr 11, 2016
Why do some of u come here and make stupid statement like "why is he homeless", "what did he do with all his money", "what happen with all the fame"? Do you think its easy to manage fame nii, or do you think this is limited to only Nigerian celebrities? Mind you, there are thousands of western actors and musicians that have gone broke and worse. At least he did not go into drugs or porn which is the always the frustrating bus stop for most western superstars.

This man left everything to come and support a profession he has passion for and because it did not turn him into a billionaire at the end doesn't mean he is not satisfy with his life. Our politicians make laws to have them taken care for life after their time in office in a very enormous way and someone like this that has contributed to our society in his own way cannot be cut a slack? Have you asked why people like Kate Henshaw and Desmond Elliot are in politics? Its because there's no end game in their career path and no matter what you make over the years, it going start dwindling down with time. Yes you can make the argument why didn't he invest for his old age, but who says he did not and who says investment is 100% guaranteed?

This is a society we created for ourselves; a society where a beauty pageant get a car as reward and a first class student get close to nothing. A society where political office holders get nothing less than 2 multimillion houses in place of their choice, cars change every 4 years, and settled for life for serving for only 4 years and like of Larry Williams get nothing. And talking about the 1 Million naira, did you all see how gracious he was about it...for Bleep sake it just 1 million naira, I mean that's like $3,200. I just got back from naija on vacation and cant see what 1 million naira can do to change a life. We created this monster called Nigeria by celebrating the ills in it and condemning the little pride we have left.

I usually don't comment here, but I watch this man put smile on our faces while growing up....he deserves more than that from y'all. He is a respectable man, rich or poor...

Education / Re: Please Advice; Degree In Nursing Or Degree In Electrical Engineering by naijaninja15: 12:11am On Nov 19, 2015
Sunnybobo3:

Nigerian universities have been offering degree in Nursing for a long time now. My aunt had her first degree in nursing from UI in the early 80s and went on to bag a PhD in same field around 1989 from same institution. She's been lecturing in Nursing and Nursing sciences since then.

Wow...interesting. I believe it was because I never had interest in nursing or as a man its not an attractive profession in that part of the world for men. Nursing is a very good and well respected profession. In America a lot of immigrant opt for it because it pays well and offer path to decent life. I often think about what would become of me when I decide to come back home; will I be able to find a job that could provide me a decent life in naija...I don't know how much they pay nurses in naija but from the little I have heard its not encouraging at all.
Education / Re: Please Advice; Degree In Nursing Or Degree In Electrical Engineering by naijaninja15: 10:12pm On Nov 18, 2015
Hi there,

I must say it is a surprise that Nigeria University now offer degree in nursing, because during my days it is only in health care institutions set up by either federal or state government were courses such as these get offered. Well to cut the long story short, I am a nurse and I know what you meant when you said that you got inspired to become a nurse by watching on Grey's Anatomy. I have been there and I have also had opportunities to know people with the same aspiration.

I had my first degree in economics in Nigeria University, worked in one of the Banks as a banking officer for about 3 years before having the golden opportunity to relocate to United State. I left Nigeria shore to United States during the financial crises and getting a job was really hard; during this same period a lot of companies were downsizing and a lot of people got laid off. But I observed one thing, and that is people working in medical field were not being affected that much; they have better job security. And for a new young black man with accent, I opted for a job in a medical line also. Like you I had always wanted to read medicine (to be a medical doctor) but couldn't do it this time too because of my age (was close to 40) and already have a family (wife and 2 kids). So I applied into one of the universities and bagged my BSN. Since then I have been a nurse, worked in great places from OR, ICU, PACU to Oncology. I recently bagged my MSN and preparing for my Nurse Practitioner License which is close to being a physician as you have authority to prescribe just like a doctor.

Along the way I have people who have this aspiration due to watching some movies, sitcoms or series like Grey's Anatomy but who have no real passion for nursing. These people worked as nurse for a while and as expected quit. they all give reasons like its not what I expect it to be, I cant stand too much blood, I cant stand sputum, I cant stand shit, I cant stand some of these old people and it goes on and on. To be a nurse you must have a strong passion for helping people, able to stand mess (feces, urine, sputum, vomit). To be a nurse you must have the ability to be ready because its very testing and people get burnt out easily. Have ever thought about being surrounded by sick people all the time. Please don't get me wrong, Im not writing to discourage you, just want you to make a genuine choice.

Nursing in America is rewarding (average about $60,000-$120,000 a yr) so I didn't have problem of which one pays more even thought your specialty determines who get paid better. Bottom line, choose what you see yourself enjoying in future, if it is nursing go for it and if it is engineering go for it. Forget Grey's anatomy...its all lies...get your mind outta gutter...doctors don't fling around like that and nurses don't lay with doctors as they depict it.

Word of advice, NO ROMANCE LIKE THAT IN HOSPITAL SETTING; NURSES AND DOCTORS ARE PROFESSIONALS LIKE EVERY OTHER PROFESSIONERS. If you go become nurse for this reason, na u know ooo

I think investigating into the past is unrealistic, thus digging into the likes of Tinubu, Amechi, Iweala, GEJ....wouldnt be wise. He is doing the right thing leading by example in declaring his own assets and making it a condition for anybody who would like to be part of his cabinet to do same. And for y'al that dont believe in this change, well you about to witness it.
