Politics“why Waste Your Saliva And Brain On Someone Who Brought National Blackout?”adoki by naijapips(op): 2:05pm On May 30, 2015
Gospel artiste and self-professed virgin, Adokiye told Vanguard[1] she thinks Goodluck Jonathan was an incompetent president.

Adokiye has been passionate and vocal about Nigeria’s state of affairs, so her critique comes as no surprise.

Last year, she offered to get deflowered by Boko Haram in exchange for the Chibok girls. [2]

She said her mother is from the same village as the former First Lady, Patience Jonathan, so she speaks without ethnic bias.

“I feel really bad for the Nigerians calling President Jonathan a hero. Hero to who please?” she asked.

“Why waste your saliva and brain on someone who has brought poverty, national blackout, danger, unemployment, terror and insecurity to our dear nation”? she added, as she spoke to the paper at the height of the fuel scarcity.

“Don’t get me wrong, he was my president before now. His wife is even from my mum’s village, Ogu Bolo in Okrika and I know her home. So, they are my people. But my dear, he disappointed me.

“They were all heartless people. People that could not feel the pains of the poor who put them there to serve then. If anybody by now is still calling Jonathan a hero that person should be checked.”

PoliticsAbia Celebrates The End Of T.A Orji Administation by naijapips(op): 7:46pm On May 28, 2015
Wide jubilation erupted across Abia State yesterday following the citizens’ realization that Chief Theodore Ahamefula Orji who had superintended over the near collapse of the state in the past eight years would be leaving office today.

The jubilation was spontaneous, from Ukwa East to Arochukwu, Owerrinta to Umunneochi; from traders to artisans, from government workers to pensioners; from taxi drivers/keke operators to barrow pushers; from teachers to students and from market women to labourers, it was the same story of jubilation that Orji was finally leaving office today.

It was merriment galore in must parts of the state yesterday as people gathered in groups at joints and some other public places to celebrate the exist of a man they said had brought the state on its knees. Some people out of happiness drank themselves to stupor.

At Ohafia, one of those who was seen around 5.00pm yesterday drinking and celebrating with his friends and who gave his name simply as Kalu said they were celebrating the exist of a man who made them to groan in pain and anguish in the past eight years.

Kalu said no sane man in Abia State would not be happy Orji was leaving the seat of power today, not when he abandoned the state to its fate in the area of infrastructure with bad roads dotting the landscape that today Abia is among the lest developed in the country despite the fact it is an oil producing state.

According to him, “Anybody who does not celebrate the exit of T.A Orji does not love this state. He left the state prostrate all the eight years he was on the saddle.

“From where do we start to access him that we will not celebrate his exit so that the state could see light again? It is in the areas of infrastructure cum rehabilitation and building of roads include grading of rural roads, payment of workers salary and payment of pensioners’ emoluments or provision of water and electricity?”

He said the best thing was to celebrate that the man who ruined the state for the past eight years was leaving and that they were praying that the state never produced such governor again, now or in the future.

A resident of Umuahia the state capital, Uke Eriji who was among those celebrate the exit of Orji in a beer parlour on Aba Road said what they did was to tell the world that they are not happy with the out-going governor, though he is their son.

“How can we be happy with him if after serving eight years as governor, Umuahia his birth place remains a glorified village. I went to Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital and when I came back, I discovered that Orji did practically nothing for us.

Eriji said that under the watch of Orji, mountains of garbage took over the streets of Umuahia which he said was not heard off when Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu was the governor. He stressed that it was not for nothing that they gave the pungent odour which emit from the refuse, ‘Ochendo perfume’.

It was the same celebration galore in Ukwa as one of the youths who was celebrating the exit of T.A Orji said as an oil producing area, the out-going governor did not site a single project throughout his eight years rule and said anybody who would not celebrate as he is leaving office, is an enemy of the area.

“During the administration of Dr. Orji Uzor, Abia State Government constructed the 76 kilometre Owaza/Obehie/Azumini road. But when T.A Orji came, he neither constructed any road nor rehabilitated the one built by his predecessor that today, our people are passing through hell and that is why we are happy that such a man that made us to suffer in the mist of plenty is leaving office.

In Aba, some youths gathered in their numbers to celebrate the exit from office of a man that made them to regret living in the city. Reports say the youths danced round some streets while at the close of business yesterday, many beer parlours in the city were filled to capacity as people Ochendo’s exit from Government House.

According to one of them who wouldn’t want his name in print, “I have lived in the city for 30 years; Aba has not had it so bad in the past eight years. While we pray that the in-coming governor will take corrective measures to put things right in the city and the state because many things went wrong, we pray we never experience the type of bad government like the one led by T.A Orji again”.

Ike Eze from Umunneochi said it was celebration galore in the area as people gathered in beer parlours to celebrate the exit T.A Orji who he said not only failed the people of Umunneochi woefully in his eight years misrule, but also showed great hatred and disrespect to their illustrious son, late Senator Uche Chukwumereije even in death.

“Everybody in our area is happy that the man (T.A Orji) is going. He did a lot of damages to Abia in general and Umunneochi in particular. If we will for give him for not doing anything for us, we will not forgive him for what he did to our illustrious son, the late senator Uche Chukwumereije.

“When you look at the roads he did not build, water and electricity he did not provide throughout the state, workers he disengaged from service, salaries that run into several months he did not pay, pensioners that did not receive their pensions month in, month out and the general decay of the state, one should but be happy he is leaving”.

PoliticsList Of 10 Poorest States In Nigeria by naijapips(op):
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Sokoto is the poorest state in Nigeria with an 81.2% poverty rate.

Furthermore, a 2012 information posted on the bureau’s website listed the top 10 poorest states in the country:

10. Zamfara – 70.8%

Formed from the Old Sokoto state in 1996 and located in northwestern Nigeria, Zamfara is governed by Abdul'aziz Abubakar Yari, a member of the All Nigeria Peoples Party.

Agriculture is the most important occupation of the people of the state, hence its slogan "farming is our pride"

Recently the governor was blasted for the “alarming scope of economic dangers and its potential threat to the economic development of the state,” by the Zamfara Budget Working Group.

9. Kebbi – 72%

Kebbi State is a north-western Nigeria state formed from part of Sokoto State in 1991. It is bordered by Sokoto State,Niger State,Dosso Regionin the Republic of Niger and the nation of Benin.

There isn’t much to be written about the state’s economy but things are looking up. The recently concluded Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport (SABIA), stands out as one of Nigeria's most sophisticated airports and is expected to boost the state’s economy.

8. Bauchi – 73%

Bauchi is a Northern Nigerian state formed in 1976 when the former North-Eastern Stat ewas broken up.

In Hausa the word Bauchi meansthe land of freedom and tourism. However recent Boko Haram adventures in the area, though few, have driven tourists away from the area.

Last year Gov. Isa Juguda told Arewa that economies of Northern states is finished due to the Boko Haram insurgency.

7. Ebonyi – 73.6%

Created by Gen. Sanni Abacha in 1996, Ebonyi is the only south eastern state among the top 9 poorest country. It is governed by Martin Elechi who currently claims his enemies have set aside N3bn for his impeachment.

The state is besieged by corrupt office holders and the EFCC recently froze accounts of the state’s local governments.

6. Plateau - 74.1%

Plateau State is the twelfth largest state of Nigeria, and is roughly located in the center of the country. Governored by Jonah Jang of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Plateau has naturally col climate and a wide range of tourist attractions and boasts of a bubbling state capital, Jos.

The state is haunted by some terrorist attacks and tribal clashes from time to time, especially clashes between Fulani herdsmen and its inhabitants.

5. Jigawa – 74.1%

Jigawa, carved out of the old Kano state is located in North central Nigeria and is under the leadership of Alhaji Sule lamido.

Kano State and Katsina State border Jigawa to the west, Bauchi State to the east and Yobe State to the northeast. To the north, Jigawa shares an international border with Zinder Region in The Republic of Niger, which is a unique opportunity for cross-border trading activities. Government readily took advantage of this by initiating and establishing a Free-Trade Zone at the Border town of Maigatari of country of Niger.

4. Gombe – 74.2%

Gombe is another North eastern state which shares common borders with the states of Borno, Yobe, Taraba, Adamawa and Bauchi. It suffers sporadic attacks from terrorists and is governed by rIbrahim Hassan Dankwambo of the Peoples’ Democratic Party.

3. Adamawa – 74.2%

Formed in 1991 from the extinct Gongola state, Adamawa has of late been terrorized by the islamist Boko Haram terrorist group, disrupting it’s economic development and growth.

However Yola, the state capital under its current governor Bala Ngillari is fast being transformed with new roads, street lights, traffic lights and other prerequisites of a modern city being built. However things are far from being rosy as other parts of the state remain underdeveloped.

2. Katsina – 74.5%

Katsina is a state in North central Nigeria and is governed by Ibrahim Shettima of the Peoples’ Democratic Party.

The state has the highest poverty prevalence amongst all states in the region.

Under the economic sector there is a paltry capital allocation of only N276 million (0.2%) to manufacturing, a paltry N214,019,000 (0.1%) capital provision for Women Empowerment under the Ministry of Women Affairs and only N100 million (0.08%) under the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the states Youth Empowerment Program (Youth Action Plan).

1. Sokoto – 81.2%

Sokoto is located in the extreme Northwest of Nigeria. It has unfriendly climate conditions with temperature going as high as 45C on a normal day.

Most part of the state are rural areas and over eighty percent (80%) of the inhabitants of Sokoto practice one form of agriculture or another.

PoliticsEFCC Closes Prosecution Of Oil Marketer Charged Over N963.7m Fuel Subsidy Fraud by naijapips(op):
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday closed the prosecution of its case against an oil marketer, Rowaye Jubril, accused of N963.7 million fuel subsidy fraud.

Mr. Jubril is standing trial alongside his company, Brila Energy Ltd., before Justice Lateefa Okunnu of an Ikeja High Court.

At the resumed hearing on Monday, the EFCC counsel, Seidu Atteh, informed the court that the prosecution was closing its case after calling 16 witnesses who testified against the defendants.

He, therefore, asked the court to order Mr. Jubril to open his defence.

The judge adjourned the matter till October 6 for hearing of the no case submission filed by the defence.

The defendants were arraigned on November 13, 2012 on a 13-count charge of conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretext, forgery and use of false documents.

The EFCC alleged that the defendants had obtained N963.7 million from the Federal Government under the Petroleum Support Fund between October 2010 and May 2012.

The anti-graft agency said the money was obtained for the purported importation of 13,500 metric tonnes of petrol.

According to the EFCC, their alleged offences contravened Section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act of 2006.

It said the offences also contravened sections 467 and 468 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State 2003. (NAN)

PoliticsAmaechi: I Spent N105 Billion Executing Federal Projects In Rivers by naijapips(op):
The Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, on Sunday revealed that he spent N105 billion fixing federal roads in the state.
Amaechi also said that because of the sharp disagreement between him and President Goodluck Jonathan, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government has ceaselessly embarked on smear campaigns against him.
The Governor stated that at the time his disagreement with the federal government was at its peak, the Police, Military and other security agencies were reporting to the wife of the President, which made him fight such a system, since he was convinced it will not make Nigeria grow.
Amaechi, who said this in Abuja, pointed out that it was a period Nigeria should not go back to again, stressing that public officers should learn to lead by the rule so as to avoid abuses as wives of incumbents were not elected and allowing them step their bounds naturally leads to abuse of office.
The Governor stated that his achievements speak volume, stressing that all he did in Rivers state were not for self-glorification but to bequeath a legacy for successive administrations in the state to sustain.
He however added that 90 per cent of the people who worked with him betrayed him.
He further showcased series of achievements spanning all sectors, wondering why the federal government was desperate about painting his administration in bad light even when he spent N105 billion doing federal roads.
He stated that he was not afraid to face the barage of forces but said because he kept his books well, he had the courage to sustain the struggle, expressing joy that history will vindicate him in the end.
In the documentary which featured his giant strides in security, works, agriculture, works, education, transportation, health and social development, Amaechi’s administration was projected as not only as having positively transformed the state, but provided opportunities for the indigent to climb to the apex of their potentialities.
In particular, Senator Magnus Abbe, explained how Amaechi pioneered the amnesty programmes through which unparallel insecurity in the state was drastically reduced.
The senator explained that the federal government borrowed the idea of amnesty from his administration and provided evidence to justify the claim.
The commissioner for agriculture explained how in fisheries alone, 35,000 direct new jobs were created. He added that Rivers state has the highest creeks in the world, which provides lots of investment opportunities.
Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency, headed by Noble Pepple, explained how the agency helped to give several Rivers people opportunity to secure training in the best institutions in the world and also in agricultural intervention for creating wealth and employment that can lead to big business that can lead to the employment of other people.

Romance7 Signs He Is Losing Interest In The Relationship by naijapips(op):
There are so many things that happen in relationships that some women choose to be blind to. You see your man losing interest but choose to lie to yourself. When you get dumped, you cry and wet your pillows like life depends on it.
Don’t get me wrong, I am a sucker for love too but when you see you are about to get booted out, you should make it less painful for yourself by booting him out first.

These are the signs that will tell you when you about to get dumped.

1. He stops calling as often as before

When he is losing interest, this is one of the first signs. Maybe you guys spoke every day when the “fire was still burning.” But, all of a sudden, it drops to four times a week, then three, then two, then excuses. If this is happening, you are getting booted out little by little. Shine your eye.

2. He would rather spend time with his boys

Am I the only person who gets irritated when the guy you are dating always wants to hang with his “boys?” Meanwhile, on the other hand, more girls than not would prefer to spend quality time with their boyfriends than hang out with the “girls”. When he uses his boys as an excuse to be away from you, he might be losing interest.

3. He always makes excuses

Now, he has stopped calling frequently, and is always spending time with the boys. When he gets confronted, it is one excuse or the other. Once this starts happening, please see your way out of the relationship.

4. He is uninterested in things that matter to you

You should know the difference between when someone is hearing you and when they are listening. If he used to take ten steps to help you move forward, now he takes five steps back, be vigilant!

5. He stops making an effort

All your whining and nagging about him not returning your calls, or always at his boy’s house for him equals “blah blah blah!” He won’t bother to change your mind at this point. When he still loved you, just the fact that you were sad made him sad. But now he’s changed; if you are sad, it’s O.Y. O (on your own).

6. He stops visiting often

Obviously, if all these things mentioned above have reduced, the visits will definitely be affected. You always hung out with him all the time but now, it has become a chore for him to try to see you twice a week. This is also one of the most obvious signs.

7. He is now prone to mood swings

This second, he is happy and next second, he is not. He does not care how you feel anymore; he is irritated and gets upset at the little things you do. He is obviously trying to pass a message across that he is done. Be smart to read the signs.

If you ticked almost five and above out of these seven points, then do him a favour by leaving him. He probably wants to but is obviously a chicken about it so he messes with your head to frustrate you to break up with him. Ladies, be vigilant.

PoliticsMan Hacked To Death For Confronting Herbalist by naijapips(op): 9:51am On May 24, 2015
Itoro, the first son and the breadwinner of the family, was allegedly hacked to death by a herbalist, Ette Okon on Friday, following a misunderstanding.

Rita Emmanuel, a cousin of the deceased, a commercial motor cyclist, told the story of the murder. According to her, Itoro lived with his parents in their grass house in Ikot Abasi Effiom, in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State until he rented a room in a house close to his parents'.

“About a month ago, he decided to rent a room in the next street so that his wife who was about to deliver a baby could have more space and we all agreed that it was okay. He got a room in Ette Friday’s house and moved there”.

Rita explained that everything was fine until Ndarake, Itoro’s wife, gave birth and the baby died within days. After the death of the baby, the wife, according to the cousin, became sick and suffered epileptic seizures.

Friday, described as a herbalist, was said to have claimed he could heal the woman and asked for N5.000 to get materials to heal her.

Rita stated that after Friday took the money, he assured Itoro that his wife would soon recover and commenced treatment but that didn't happen.

Rita said:“Last year, Itoro lost his first wife after she gave birth to their second daughter; so he was worried that his second wife taking care of the two children was going to die too. He asked the herbalist why the state of his wife was getting worse when it ought to be improving since the man had been given the money he demanded and he assured that he would treat the woman . The man did not say anything; he simply went inside his shrine and brought out a machete and cut Itoro’s throat”.

A resident, who gave his name as Monday, said when people heard Itoro’s cries that night, they rushed to the herbalist’s house and met Itoro in a pool of blood.

According to him, when the herbalist saw them, he threatened them with a machete. This, he said, angered the residents who took matters into their hands, overpowered him, cut his own throat, dumped the body inside the shrine and set the place ablaze.

“The remains of the herbalist were eaten by dogs which he deserves because we could not understand why he should kill a young man for asking why the state of his wife whom he was treating was worsening rather than improving”.

Mr Hogan Bassey, the spokesman for the Command, said the matter was being investigated.

PoliticsJonathan Approves 2 New Specialised Universities by naijapips(op): 8:34am On May 24, 2015
The Federal Government has approved the establishment of two specialised universities, President Goodluck Jonathan has said..

Speaking at the 31st convocation of the Bayero University, Kano on Saturday, Jonathan said the universities were the Marine University and the Federal University of Health Sciences.

Jonathan, who was represented by the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Julius Okoje, said the decision was borne out of the government’s desire to give more students with the requisite qualifications the opportunity to access quality education.

He said that in spite of the numerous challenges, the Federal Government would continue to support the education sector to empower the youth.

“Let me reiterate that university education worldwide is the bedrock of national development and integration.

“In terms of access, we have continued to create room for large number of qualified candidates seeking admission into universities,” he said.

Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, said a total of 8,875 students graduated from 12 faculties for the 2012, 2013 and 2014 academic sessions.

He said that out of the number, 3,638 graduated with first degrees, 1,823 graduated with post graduate diploma, 3,146 had Masters degrees, while the remaining 84 were Ph.Ds.

The university also conferred emeritus professorships on five distinguished academics for their contributions to the growth and development of intellectualism in the university.

PoliticsBuhari, Probe Jonathan For The Sake Of National Interest! - Theophilus Danjuma by naijapips(op): 8:06am On May 24, 2015
Former Defence minister, General Theophilus Danjuma (rtd), yesterday advised the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, to investigate President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration over the $60billion debt profile it would bequeath to the country, with nothing to justify it.

Danjuma made the call in Takum, Taraba State, during the commissioning and handing over of two bridges he built along Takum-Katsina Ala Road.
The call came days after the Vice President-elect, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has raised concern about the huge debt burden that President Jonathan was bequeathing to Buhari’s government.

Professor Osinbajo, while speaking at a two-day policy dialogue last Wednesday on the implementation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) agenda for change, noted that the country was experiencing its worst moment in history, as a whopping $60billion local and foreign debt was hanging on its neck, while over two-thirds of the states in the country were owing workers’ salaries and the Federal Government was borrowing to fund recurrent expenditure.
He also disclosed that about 110 million Nigerians were wallowing in poverty.

Commenting on Saturday, Danjuma lamented that the outgoing administration had nothing to show for incurring the debt and emphasized that a probe was needed to uncover what happened to the fund.
“It is disheartening to know that the incoming government of Buhari will have to contend with a debt of over $60billion and there is nothing to show for this huge debt,” he said.

“Well, we would know what happened to these monies, because I believe that the Buhari administration has to, and should, in national interest, investigate the administration so that we would know what happened.”

The former minister said he chose to steer clear of politics because “all the political parties are the same [and] very bad.” adding that “I rather steer clear of it. I support anyone who comes to me for money based on what I make of their person irrespective of political affiliations,” he said.

General Danjuma said he constructed the bridges to address the plight of his people and cut the number of deaths and permanent disabilities caused by the replaced dilapidated bridges.

“The project started when I noticed the deplorable state of the bridges and realized that they have become deathtraps and a major cause of serious disabilities in the society over the years. I was determined that something has to be done and immediately initiated the project.

“Being aware that this is a federal road, I sought and obtained permission from Works Ministry and the work commenced. We worked closely with the ministry and other relevant bodies and today, the challenges are over and I’m glad this is over,” Danjuma stated.

Danjuma who regretted that the road has not been given any serious attention since the Civil War, called on the minister to award the contract for the building of the road to a competent civil engineering company, not Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), noting that the contract supposedly awarded for the construction of the road over a year ago had been ignored completely to the detriment of the people.

While noting that President Jonathan’s administration has the lowest debt profile in the nation’s history, she added that borrowed funds were used to stimulate growth in critical sectors which include the rail, ‎agriculture and power sectors.

The APC National Chairman, Chief John Oyegun, had lamented during a retreat organised for newly elected senators of the APC, that it would take over 228 years to repay Nigeria’s debt, which they said was accumulated by the outgoing administration.

But Dr. Okonjo-Iweala pointed out that the outgoing administration has done measurably well in ‎maintaining low inflation rate, building road networks and improving agricultural productivity, among other accomplishments.

China's richest man saw his net worth drop by $15 billion dollars as his company stock was in free fall before trading was halted. All of this was in just 30 minutes. That is more money than the combined (published) wealth of some of Nigeria's richest people.

Well for now he still has $15 billion left.
