vladimiros: [size=15pt] I am a Niger Deltan from Akwa Ibom state
and Seun has really goofed.
Nigerian Government arrested Nnamdi Kanu and the riots escalated
the fool has decided to limit freedom of speech
after he would start quoting Mark Zuckerberg..
this country is mean if you are not Yoruba or Hausa..[/size] You can't use Nairaland to promote ISIS. You can't use it to promote boko haram and you sure cannot use it to promote biafra. So because of freedom of speech, Isis members should be opening threads on Nairaland? |
Politics › Re: Seun Why? by naijapips02: 3:27pm On Dec 10, 2015 |
TheWisest: Seun your action of taking a stand on the Biafra issue is a good one. My only criticism about it is HOW you went about doing it. Did you say NAIRALAND Says? Seun, you are not Nairaland. You never were and you never will be. You are Oluwaseun Osewa, the Founder of Nairaland. Nigerians ARE Nairaland and Nairaland is a public tool for free speech.
The way you went about airing your personal views is not ethical at all. I have my own opinions on the Biafra matter but I'd never use a public property I founded to enforce my opinion. Infact you even went on to do worse: you prohibit people from airing their personal views?
Right now, Ibos don't see you as Nairaland Founder but as Yoruba being against Ibos. Can't you see this will create more problems?
Now as a corporate person myself, did you consult your company's board on what consequences this action would imbibe? Would it force formerly neutral people to take the side of the underdog, in this case Ibos whose voices you've stapled close?
As a company Seun, Nairaland's action today isn't an act of best practices as far as public forums are concerned. I drop my pen here. stop this rubbish. Nobody stifled igbos voice. I am igbo and i don't support biafra. I support what seun did 101%. You can't be sleeping in my house and telling me how stupid i am to have built the house and how you are going to build a better house. |

paramakina202: Are we discussing Biafra here? You attack anything to do with Igbo/Biafra And Igbo interest in general and always on the side of those Igbo consider as not friendly. So my friend, when it walks like a duck act like a duck and sit like a duck then it must be a duck.that's common sense. Everyone knows that this discussion came up in the first place because of Biafra. Before Biafra, no igboman came out to say anything about ikwerre land being an igbo territory. Because of biafra, you now want to use history to blackmail them so that you can use their oil. That is never the igbo character. You biafrats should be ashamed of yourselves. Show me a thread that was for igboid progressiveness that i spoke against. Just one. |

Ilovemystate: Ikwerre people The Ikwerre (also spelt Ikwere) are one of the many native ethnic groups in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. They are a subgroup of the Igbo people,[1][2][3] although a small minority for political expediency now dispute this account, claiming their history was rewritten during the colonial period because of the dominance of the larger Igbo group. The Ikwerre are said to be related or share common ancestry with the Ogba and Ekpeye people (Akalaka brothers).[citation needed] They trace their origins to Owerri, Ohaji, Etche, and Ngwa areas of Igboland. They constitute the majority of Rivers state, although there are other populations in neighboring states. The Ikwerre speak the Ikwerre dialect, a dialect part of the many diverse Igbo dialects,[4] and are predominantly settled in the Ikwerre, Obio-Akpor, Port Harcourt and Emohua local government areas. They are traditionally farmers, fishermen and hunters, but in recent times, the environmental degradation and urban sprawl associated with oil exploration and exploitation has caused a sharp decline in the amount of farmland, forests and rivers available for their traditional occupations.[citation needed]
The Ikwerre exist in well-delineated clans, with each clan having its own Paramount Ruler, therefore, the Ikwerre do not have an overall paramount ruler or King, but designated kings/ruler/leader mostly approved by its constituents. Although all paramount rulers in ikwerre are united in what is known as Ogbakor Ikwerre which is an association of Ikwerre traditional rulers.[citation needed] A total of 92 oil wells, producing an estimated 100,000 barrels of crude daily, are located in Ikwerreland. The Ikwerre therefore play host to several multinational oil-producing and servicing companies, in addition to many other industries and establishments.[citation needed] Despite these, the Ikwerre, like nearly all other minorities of the Niger Delta, frequently complain of marginalisation by the oil operatives. The University of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, the three campuses of the Rivers State College of Education, as well as the Rivers State College of Arts and Science, are all sited on Ikwerreland.[citation needed] https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ikwerre_people Yeah....Wikipedia. |
