A suicide bomber supposed to be a member of the deadly Boko Haram sect has attacked a mosque with twin bomb blasts in Maiduguri, Borno state.
The onslaught occurred early today, October 23, as Muslims gather at a mosque to observe morning prayers in the old GRA area in the troubled city.

According to Sahara Reporters a yet to be determined number of Muslim worshippers have been killed.
However, the witness informed about 18 victims:

The explosion was carried out by a suspected lone suicide bomber, whose two accomplices escaped, when some vigilant members of the community accosted them on their suspicious movements.


Premium Times reports that two explosions, according to residents happened in Jiddari Polo area at about 5am when Muslims were performing the first congregational prayer of Friday.

Security personnel have cordoned the area while rescue and aide workers tried to evacuate corpses and wounded victims.

A spokesperson of the local Civilian-JTF, Abbas Gava, told newsmen that “it was two bomb explosion in a mosque in Jiddari Polo, very close to the Federal High Court complex. We are still trying to get the correct figure of casualties”.
Another civilian JTF operative, who spoke anonymously from the scene of the bomb blast confirmed that “so far, we have evacuated 18 bodies to the hospital alongside many injured ones that are almost lifeless”.

“We counted 28 dead bodies,” Umar Sani, from the militia, who helped in the rescue operation, told AFP. His information was supported by Musa Sheriff, a local resident who also helped.

The National Emergency Management Agency confirmed the bombing saying that its rescuers evacuated 6 dead bodies of the victims.

A senior health worker also confirmed that the 6 bodies have been deposited in the mortuary, while the 17 other wounded victims are being treated in Specialist and teaching hospitals in Maiduguri.

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to end the activities of the insurgents by December and the Nigerian Military in a last statement issued reads: “This is to finally warn all Boko Haram terrorists wherever they are, to desist from all acts of terrorism, surrender themselves and face the law now. We wish to inform them that we are aware of all their hideouts, camps and enclaves.”

Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State and the birthplace of Boko Haram in 2002, has been the epicentre of the six-year-old terrorismand repeatedly attacked since Buhari assumed office.

The city is attacked almost on a weekly basis. This latest attack occurred days after at least 30 people were killed when two suicide bombers attacked a mosque in the Mulai area.

Unlike many of the richest people in the world, Ortega has a fascinating rags-to-riches story. Born in 1936 during the Spanish Civil War, Ortega's father earned 300 pesetas a month, a meager salary.

Ortega's biographer described his memories of a childhood during which his family could not always afford enough food. He left school in his early teens, working his way up from the absolute bottom rung as a messenger boy in a shop.

A South African pastor has shocked people with his unconventional mode of spreading the word when he sat down inside a coffin to preach.

According to church member and former drug dealer, 28 year old Aphiwe Nqevu ‘brought the coffin to illustrate to people who fail to embrace Jesus as the son of God that they will go to hell and face eternal death.

They said they use coffin to ‘urge people to embrace God because once death occurs, it is too late to decide’. People in the area protested, saying it was scaring children and it was also disrespectful.

A 20-year-old youth has been apprehended and charged before the Magistrates’ court sitting in Ejigbo for inflicting injury on his father with a machete in Lagos State.

Toluwani Oluwarotimi allegedly attacked his father, Elijah with a machete and inflicted injuries on his head and other parts of his body before the intervention of their neighbours who rescued him.

According to PM News, the incident happened at their house located at 4, Jesus is the Head Street, Ijegun, on the outskirts of Lagos.

The matter was reported to the police at Isheri Oshun Division and when the police attempted to arrest Toluwani, he resisted and attempted to attack the officers before he was over powered.

Elijah said Toluwani has been a thorn in the flesh of the family and they have done their best to change him to no avail.

He said Toluwani started smoking hard drugs at a tender age and whenever he was high, he will descend either on him or his wife, Monica and any of their three children with weapons with the aim to kill.

He said he has spent huge sums of money to get admission for him both within and outside Nigeria and at the end of their effort, he would frustrate it.

Elijah said Toluwani refused to go to school or learn any other trade but decided to wage war against their family.

He said his character changed to worse of recently when he declared that he would kill everybody in the family and he would start from him, which he had already attempted to accomplish.

Elijah said he has decided to hand him over to the police for peace to return in his family and possible rehabitation in the prsion.

On his part, Toluwani admitted that he smokes and denied that he attacked his father. He said he has issues with his father because he does not care about his welfare rather he was concerned about other children who are in various schools.

Toluwani was arraigned before the court where he pleaded not guilty.The presiding Magistrate, Mr A.A. Fashola granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail. The matter was adjourned till 11, November, 2015.

On Monday, 19th of October, 2015, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command on Monday disclosed that it had apprehended a 70 year old fake Presidential Adviser on Defence Matters.


Revealing the suspect, Aamule Sule who claimed to be a retired Army Colonel, to the media, the command’s Spokesman, ASP Anjuguri Manzah, said the suspect was arrested on October 18 at a house in Maitama area of Abuja where he claimed to have met a former governor.

“Police operatives attached to Maitama Division acting on a tip-off arrested one fake Colonel (name withheld) who claimed to be the Special Adviser to the President on Defence Matters“He also confessed that he only hides under that guise to solicit for juicy contracts or financial favour from his high profile victims,” he said.

He said that one fake identification card and five complimentary cards were recovered from him. The suspect, who said he worked with the Bauchi State Government up to 1990, said he had been in the business for over three years.

“I thought it was an easy way to feed my family,” he said.

A woman has been charged to court for attempted murder after she intentionally stabbed her growing son multiple times as a way of hurting her husband.

26-year-old Zimbabawean woman, Nomatter Gava-Hudson stabbed her son three times in the abdomen in Mississippi on Monday, October 5, during an argument with her husband.
According to Police spokesman Sgt. Damon McDaniel, investigators learned that an argument took place between Gava-Hudson and her husband, the child’s father, during which Gava-Hudson became “belligerent,” brandished a knife and intentionally stabbed the child.

The child was taken to a local hospital and later transferred to the University of South Alabama Medical Centre where he was listed in stable condition Wednesday afternoon.

The 26-year-old mother appeared in court earlier this week charged with attempted murder and is being held on a $1 million bond. She could be deported if she’s convicted of attempted murder.
The hearing before Judge Brandon Ladner on Monday lasted less than 10 minutes.

Two people have fallen ill with Ebola in Guinea after two weeks with no new confirmed cases of the disease in West Africa.
The World Health Organization made this known on Friday.
WHO spokeswoman, Margaret Harris, told a United Nations briefing in Geneva that one case was in Forecariah, western Guinea, and appeared to be linked to a previously known chain of infection, while the other was in the capital Conakry.

According to Reuters, Ebola transmission is considered to be over once a locality has gone 42 days without a new case of the disease.

The other two countries that were worst hit by the epidemic were Liberia, which was declared transmission free on September 3, and Sierra Leone, which is counting down another 22 days until it is clear.
The worst outbreak on record has been largely stopped in its tracks after killing more than 11,000 people.

But the WHO has repeatedly warned against prematurely assuming the outbreak is over because the virus could pop up again until the 42 days are over.
“On the bumpy road we keep talking about, the high risk of recurrence, once again we are navigating a few bumps,” Harris said. “Of course we didn’t want it, but we did expect it. Guinea hadn’t got to the stage where we were looking at 42 days.”

Even after that period, Ebola may lurk in the population. This month a study showed the semen of male survivors can harbour the virus for nine months, while a British nurse has fallen critically ill again 10 months after recovering from Ebola.

Dozens of Palestinians set fire at dawn on Friday to a holy site known as Joseph’s Tomb, in the Palestinian Authority-controlled city of Nablus

The Palestinians damaged the tiny stone compound that many Jews believe to be the final burial place of the son of the biblical patriarch Jacob.

Dore Gold, the director general of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a statement, “The Palestinian attack on Joseph’s Tomb reminds us of the actions of the most extreme Islamist elements, from Afghanistan to Libya.”

The Israeli military said that Palestinian forces had extinguished the blaze.

President Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority condemned the arson as “irresponsible” in a statement published by the official Palestinian news agency, WAFA. The extent of the damage was not immediately clear, and the authorities did not say whether anyone had been detained in connection with the attack.

Jewish pilgrims visit the site, which is adjacent to the Balata refugee camp, a hotbed of Palestinian militancy, in organized visits about once a month, under the cover of night and escorted by the Israeli military. But none were visiting at the time the fire broke out.

The desecration of the tomb was met with outrage in Israel. It follows a wave of Palestinian stabbing attacks against Israelis, as well as deadly clashes between Palestinians and Israeli security forces prompted, in large part, by a dispute over Al Aqsa Mosque compound, a contested holy site in Jerusalem revered by Jews as the Temple Mount and by Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary.

President Muhammadu Buhari said Wednesday in Abuja that he remained fully confident that by the end of this year, Boko Haram’s ability to attack, seize, ravage and hold any Nigerian territory will have been completely obliterated.

Speaking at an audience with the Commander of United States Africa Command, Gen David Rodriguez,
President Buhari said that with greater support from his administration in terms of improved training, equipment, logistics and welfare, the Nigerian Armed Forces were now well positioned to meet the December deadline which they have been given to end the Boko Haram insurgency.

The President seized the opportunity of General Rodriquez’s visit to restate his appreciation of the United States’ support for Nigeria’s efforts to overcome terrorism and insurgency.

“We must thank the United States of America for sending training teams and equipment to us. The positive results of our collaboration are evident. “Structured attacks by the insurgents have reduced and by the end of the year, we should see the final routing of Boko Haram as an organized fighting force, ” the President said.

President Buhari appealed, however, for greater cooperation from the United States in securing the Gulf of Guinea through which stolen Nigerian crude oil is shipped abroad. Decrying the severe revenue losses which Nigeria suffers from crude oil theft, President Buhari said that his administration was determined to end this criminal practice and would welcome more support from the international community in this regard.

General Rodriguez told President Buhari that he was in the country to strengthen Nigeria/United States military relations, and also explore further options for assisting the Multinational Joint Task Force established by Nigeria and her neighbours, to fight Boko Haram.

She was said to have seen the advert of the 60th anniversary Peak ‘Reach for Millions’ promo on television, her attention was focused on every tin of peak milk purchased by her mum. Like an addicted habit, she kept sending codes on the tins as directed in the advert.

Emmanuella’s mother, Mrs. Franca Chire told reporters at the prize presentation ceremony that she never believed in promos hinging her reasons on lack of trust on past promos she had come across.

“Actually, I never believed in promos, when my daughter told me about Peak ‘reach for millions promo, I thought it was one of those fake promos where only families of organisers are always the winners.

“So, when my ten-year-old daughter, Emmanuella told me that there is a promo concerning peak milk going on, I waved it aside.” Mrs. Chire stated.

In defiance to her mother’s stance on promos, little Emmanuella who is a JSS 1 student would not relent; she kept sending codes until she got a response through a text message that she has just won a million naira in the Peak ‘Reach for Million’ promo!


“When I collected the phone from her and read the message, I read it again and again and still couldn’t figure what’s in the content. I gave the phone back to her and asked her to go and wait for me till I finish what I was doing.


” So, when I finished what I was I doing, I read the message again and it was clearer when I started seeing ‘you have just won 1 million naira in the peak 60th anniversary ‘Reach for Millions’ promo. Keep your pack to claim your prize…’ and so on. I started thinking how do I tell my girl this thing is real in spite of my discouragement and all that. So my daughter was right all the while, peak milk promo is real, my daughter has won 1 million naira in the peak promo, one amazing million naira,” she narrated joyfully.

“It was all like a dream, so my daughter is now a millionaire through peak amazing million-naira promo,” said Emmanuella’s mother after the cheque presentation.

The moment Gordons went up stage, he immediately started throwing harsh darts back at Helen Paul.

This forced her to come back on stage to give him response. It took the intervention of the Host AY himself coming to the stage and practically carrying Helen Paul off the stage.

When Gordons refused to let the sleeping dogs lie, Ay announced on stage that Gordons has been banned from Ay shows.

A two year-old toddler in Brazil, Kelvin Santos sat up in his coffin just before his funeral and asked for a glass of water -- then lay back down again lifeless. The toddler startled grieving relatives only hours after doctors were unable to resuscitate him during treatment for pneumonia.
