Banning them will be difficult
It's easy all Whatsapp has to do is check the number of users on their server using an app id that isn't theirs and hit the ban button. You all probably don't have any alternative anyway

How?
The mod is a stripped down version of whatsapp then updated with new features. Do you trust that the developers of the modded version didn't add a backdoor to track messages. The last time I checked
modified apps aren't open source so we can't exactly say what goes on behind the scenes.

How would a modded version of an app give whatsapp headache since they aren't earning money from the App directly yet.

Once ads come to whatsapp its very possible these modded versions would try to block the ads and whatsapp would have no choice than to end up banning those using them.

Fingerprint security is finally coming to Whatsapp which means – no more snooping around on other people’s chats when the app isn’t open.
WhatsApp has been working round the clock to ensure you get the best out of it this year and while we expect to see lots of update in the future including the ads, the fingerprint security is almost here .

Whatsapp To Add Fingerprint Security

According to the WhatsApp beta update for Android, the company is said to be working on a new authentication feature which isn’t available globally yet as the feature is currently under development.

Once the Fingerprint feature is enabled , the app will be completely protected, so the you will need to authenticate your identity in order to open WhatsApp (from the app icon, from the notification or from external pickers).

It will protect the entire app, meaning you can’t use it to lock specific conversations for now.The company is also rumored to be working on implementing Face ID and Touch ID for iOS. There will be a section in the app where users can enable the fingerprint authentication feature.

Availability

This feature is in an alpha stage of development and it will be available in a few weeks for Android users Marshmallow and above, and iOS users.

WhatsApp Audio Picker

WhatsApp is also working to improve the audio picker that will allow users to see the list of all available audio files stored in your phone. The user will be able to play the audio before sending it, and it is also possible to select more audio files to send!

Unfortunately for your assumption, Apple is a child of US and grew as big as it because of US support, for small and medium enterprises and its support for research.

Now it has survived those breast feeding days, and became a tech power house, China enticed it to close its factory in the US and come over to China with sweet and chewing gum in sort of Goverment support and cheap labour..

Today it is the largest foreign employer of labour in china and yield more tax revenue than any other company. And same time serve a model for others to follow en-route china. This was caused by previous US govts. Now Trump want to use sanction to bring them back.

So the case is China need Apple more than Apple need China.
China doesn't need Apple. It's as simple as that.

I saw your previous comments relating to Huawei. Go and look up the details of the Kirin processor and also the Huawei mate 20 pro. Then compare it with the latest Apple iPhone XS MAX and see the difference.

There is no sense there, Apple is the biggest tech company in china and one of the biggest employer of labour in china, china value apple more than the US, they were the first trillion dollar company because of china, so china is their backbone and Apple is the Face of china.

Any thing that would apoil that market is blown away with the full force of china interest.
China doesn't need Apple to grow. Why didn't Apple set up a factory in the US. Let me get the facts clear.
China doesn't need any western support to stand.

On a general note the only support the USA gives to other countries is military support but if it's Tech support leave it to China, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.

Let's see how the trade war plays out.

My dear, Huawei is trash like techno and Itel. China copycat the real deal and make them cheap.

Like Iphone like samsung, the technologies employed by those phones are expensive, because they pay different companies for those technologies and those companies keep on paying heavily on innovating something better or they lose the market with no chance of getting any better market.

It might be hard to get to the top, but to remain at the top is harder. Blackberry is not like Apple, mocrosoft or samsung, so the the difference is more within than without.

Apple just lost $57 billion in the stock market and dropped to the fourth most valuable company. I actually saw this coming and i didn't think it would come so soon. Have a look at my post Facebook on December 15th, 2018.

https://i2.wp.com/www.naijatechguy.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/sss.png

Apple's Falling Stocks
Their products are simply over priced, It costs basically around $300 to build an iPhone and they sell it at above $1000 while there are phones with better features that cost less. I bet Steve Jobs (God bless his soul) wouldn't allow this unacceptable overpricing.

https://i0.wp.com/www.naijatechguy.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/macbook-pro-2016-apple-event-1.jpg

Apple stock initially opened on Thursday at $144 which was around a $14 drop from its already plummeting price when the markets closed on Wednesday.

Now, their stock is at its lowest price in almost 2 years . The current stock price pushes the Cupertino Company down to the fourth most valuable company behind Microsoft, Amazon and Google.

Their current market value now sits at about $57 billion less than it did before CEO Tim Cook’s letter to investors yesterday.

Tim cook had placed the blame for Their lowered projections on a number of factors such as fewer than expected iPhone sales, trade wars with China, and even its own iPhone battery replacement program.

However, since becoming the first trillion dollar company last year, they have continuously experienced a continuous slide downward in market value.

The company has lost around $450 billion since hitting its peak of $1.1 trillion leaving it with around $600b.

PhonesTop 5 Most Anticipated 5G Smartphones You Would Definitely See In 2019 by NaijaTechGuy(op): 9:58pm On Dec 31, 2018
2019 is just around the corner and there's one thing we all are certainly excited about - "5G".

5G smartphones are definitely going to be taking over in 2019, with many of the biggest Android OEMs already confirming that they are working on 5G-ready phones.

https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/j2qehM4EpuZPRrZQcy2y5L-1366-80.jpg

Also confirming this is Qualcomm chief, Christiano Amon, has confirmed that "every Android vendor is working of 5G right now", and it becomes increasingly clear that by the end of 2019 5G is going to be well and truly here.

At Qualcomm's Snapdragon Technology Summit in Hawaii this month, Amon stated that:

"By the holidays next year, every flagship handset – at least when it comes to those running Google's Android software and using Qualcomm's Snapdragon processor – will tap into 5G."

Considering the current technologies we have around us, we can't deny the fact that we need more speed. Besides, who even likes slow internet. Things like Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality ,iOT and even self driving cars need such speed and considering they all would be easily controlled from our phones speed is a necessity

In this post I'll be talking about the best 5G phones we're expecting in 2019, with brands  like  Samsung, Sony, OnePlus ,Xiaomi and Huawei giving us the best to expect but before that -

What Is 5G And How Does It Work?

5G is the successor of 4G LTE . Once phones are built to support 5G we can definitely expect faster internet speed.

How much Faster?

It actually depends on your device , location, and network, but you should expect improvements of around 15-50 percent . 5G can actually improve on 4G many more times than that in lab conditions, so there's definitely a lot room to grow: just imagine full 4K movies downloading in a minute or two, and you're in the right area.

5G is not just about faster internet , It's also about capacity, and being able to get a strong network signal in extremely crowded areas. In other words, you wouldn't lose network reception at a crowded arena or a music concert.

1. SAMSUNG GALAXY S10

https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/sM9v7CmmrVhoYcaFjk3Ph4-1366-80.jpg

South Korean OEM , Samsung has just given a sneak peak of its incoming 5G flagship at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit in Maui, which ran from December 4 - 6.

The sneak peak showed a Galaxy S10, streameing native 4K movies from Netflix without any issues whatsoever, as well as simultaneously outputting the video to a connected 4K TV.

And, simply put, the transition to 5G for the Galaxy  S10 would make a lot of  sense as it would add dramatically to its list of features that will have Apple very worried.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 is slated for launch at Mobile World Congress 2019, taking place at the end of February, it would also cement Samsung's position at the fore of the 5G charge, leaving many of its rivals playing catch up.

2. HUAWEI P30 OR MATE 30

https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Qv8bJqrYPFfXTLuFeJiSPD-1366-80.jpg

Just watching by  Walter Ji, President of Huawei's Western European Consumer Business Group speaking at an exclusive interview to T3 , I can confirm that Huawei is working on 5G

The senior Huawei exec confirmed that 5G would feature "if not for P30, then for sure it will be in the Mate series next September".

According to Mr Ji  -

“We have two flagship products. In March, we have the P series, and in October, we have the Mate series. So it will depend on how the chipset develops, because the 5G needs high power consumption."

Considering that battery life is one of the smartphone industry's biggest challenges right now and most flagship phones delivering at most a day and half of battery life between charges, clearly companies are going to have to find ways to increase their handsets' internal batteries, or streamline and optimise how energy is used.

3. ONE PLUS 7 / 7T

https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/FUzc9aTDBM3LMdx8X4a7fE-1366-80.jpg

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau  confirmed at the Mobile World Congress held in Shanghai that the company is "working with US carriers" to bring a 5G smartphone to market next year.

That means that either the  OnePlus 7 or possibly the OnePlus 7T is going to be that 5G phone

Also, considering that OnePlus really knows what they are doing in terms of hardware too, I expect them not to fall back in 2019.

OnePlus usually releases its flagship phones around May or July, so the OnePlus 7 would likely be among the second wave of 5G devices, coming directly after Samsung, Sony and Huawei.

4. OPPO 2019 5G FLAGSHIP

https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/e8rrehwvGLxEiChYKsW3tc-1366-80.jpg

Oppo is definitely one of my favorite brands and I really like what they are cooking up for consumers in 2019.

Oppo has reportedly confirmed that it has successfully made a connection between a customised Oppo R15 smartphone and a 5G network. Although this connection was made in Oppo's 5G communication protocol laboratory, it is still a very positive sign that they have 5G in their books.

In January , Oppo concluded a deal with Qualcomm to use its components for devices, while in May 2018 it also showed the world's first 5G video call, too. Expect a March or April release date for Oppo's first 5G phone based on the launch window of 2018's Oppo R15.

5. XIAOMI MI MIX 3

https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/rw7zWQqKixLeN4XUq449xF-1366-80.jpg

Another of my favorite brands - Xiaomi . They launched the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 in late October and, iis currently set for a Q1 2019 release date. This would put it near the front of the 5G smartphone release schedule which is not suprising since they're known for spearheading new trends.

5G aside, the Mi Mix 3 is a pretty solid device, with a magnetically sliding 6.39-inch OLED display embedded in a sleek bezel-less design (93.4% screen-to-body ratio), and a suite of hardware that includes a maximum of 10GB of RAM and 256GM of storage space, as well as a dual rear camera system (24MP + 2MP). It's expected to cost around N280,000 (565 Pounds) .

The big question on my mind is - Is Nigeria Ready For 5G?

PhonesHow Google Plans On Replacing Android With Fuschia OS by NaijaTechGuy(op): 7:45am On Dec 28, 2018
You probably don't need telling that Android is a very powerful and versatile operating system but Google is working on something that might end up as the direct replacement - Fuschia.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-NjfaRR3uziQ/XCXES8i_4hI/AAAAAAAAO9s/j3fM-QhIns0Qjm4w54ah_zuRRbDlbM-pQCHMYCw/s1600/%255BUNSET%255.png

In this post, I'll be explaining why Fuschia may actually replace Android

Kernels
Kernels are the core of any operating system, they provide the basic mechanisms around which the os can be built. A lot of the problems Android faces today is as a result of the fact it was built around the linux kernel whicj was not originally intended for it.

As a matter of fact, Android OS was originally meant for digital cameras so on it's core it isn't exactly specialized for what a smartphone should do

So what about Fuschia?

Fuschia is based on a completely different Kernel with 2 key benefits.

1. It is designed with the smart connected feature in mind

2. It's more specific in its code and can be built on a wide range of devices

This kernel is called Zircon .

So what's the benefit ?

The reason that Fuschia is powerful is that this kernel runs on completely everything from phones abd TVs to Fridges and traffic lights.

One OS for everything. As more devices enter people's homes, this would mean seamless integration among devices.

Your music could switch to your speaker when you enter a room and continue in your car when you get in.

Also Fuschia would be built around the idea of voice commands. Less tapping , More talking.

Fuschia would also solve one of the major problems of Android which is Fragmentation.

Fragmentation

Fragmentation is the reason most Android phones don't perform as well as their hardware is capable of.

This exists because Android is a bit of a mess. It has software, kernel and drivers all working together in a slightly different configuration on each device.

That's why Google just can't push an update to any device out there. These 3 aspects have to be decoupled manually.

Google has little control of how users experience Android on 95% of phones.

This is a problem because these OEMs don't have an incentive to keep your device updated. They prefer you get a new device if you want to upgrade so they can make more money.

Fuschia is cleaner built with updates in mind. Fuschia would help Google regain control of the end user software experience.

Fuschia is also written on the Flutter software development kit which is important because this runs on Android too. This would make sure Android apps run on it. You don't expect Google to start from scratch with the already vast library of apps and games available.

So the big question -

When will Fuschia Replace Android?

Considering that brands always make the 10th version of their products seem like the peak of their current product line. Android 10 might be replaced by Fuschia OS.

If it's not, then we should be looking at the next couple of years.

PhonesGionee Mobile Is Now Officially Bankrupt, Files For Liquidation In Court by NaijaTechGuy(op): 6:35am On Dec 24, 2018
A few weeks ago I made a post regarding Gionee's financial woes being the possible reasons why we haven't seen new phones from Gionee.

The same day I made the post a Gionee Nigeria staff called me and made threats regarding the post saying they would take action against me for publishing such content which was quite laughable. I don't take down content that is true to please any brand. I also believe he was quite oblivious of the current position of his employers so I would disregard the threat.

The news reaching me now is that the company has officially entered bankruptcy.

A court in Shenzhen has accepted the application for liquidation bankruptcy by Huaxing Bank. This may still turn into a company reorganization – Gionee hired restructuring consultants last week. Founder Liu Lirong thinks that the company can turn its fortunes around in 3-5 years.

However, Gionee owes a total of CNY 20.2 billion (around $3 billion) to 648 creditors. About half of the debt is to banks. Earlier this year the company failed to pay suppliers. Ad agencies haven’t been paid either.

The company's money problem started when the founder and chairman Liu lost a CNY 1 billion bet in a casino.

Liu admitted in the interview that Gionee’s total debts amount to 17 billion yuan ($2,447,065,000), with 10 billion yuan($1,439,450,000) of this owed to banks, 5 billion yuan($719,725,000) to upstream suppliers and about 2 billion to advertising agencies.

If nothing spontaneous happens in 3 – 5 years and the executives can't avoid gambling, this will be the end of Gionee Electronics and Smartphones.
