Wizkid started his music career at age eleven while in church and became professional in 2006, became a hot prospect in 2008/2009 and finally broke into the industry in 2010.

The EME artist who left Lagos University for Lead city University was just in his 2nd year studying international relations when he made the bold decision of leaving school to concentrate fully on his music career that was already at its peak.

Wizkid promised to come back to pursue his academic career outside Nigeria. But before the young talent returns to student life, he will complete his music tour. And its like Wizkid had this dream of becoming a music mogul when said he will be studying 'music business' in school. I hope the program will help him better understand the business side of music.
He disclosed this in an interview with the nation.

Were you serious when you said you will be quitting school because you cannot combine it with music?

I am sorry, it was a misconception. I did not say I will be quitting school, because I can never do such a thing. My parent would never allow that. What I did is
to take a year break from school, for my tour. Once I am done with that, I will be going back to complete my studies.

How long is the tour expected to take?

It is just for a year. I will be taking a transfer to study Music Business outside Nigeria to gather experience and to know more about music too.

Its 6 years already and the crazy stalker has not given up on Omowunmi yet, so she seems to be crying out for help when she revealed the whole story on her new blog(www.OmowunmiAkinnifesi.com). At first, it sounded funny, but while reading on, its looking lot more serious than I thought. Don't know what to call this abusive behavior, and it also looked like a threat.
For those that don't know who Omowunmi Akinifesi is, she was crowned Most Beautiful Girl In Nigeria in 2005.

"Funny but I am not laughing
His name is……, yep I know his name, his full name. I have heard it so many times when I finally decide to pick up an unknown number after dodging the calls
that show his caller identification.

Numbers I have come to store on my phone over and over again. I have about six of his numbers and for a while that
saved me from speaking to him. Well that was only until he got a new number off course.

It all started in 2005, after I won the Most Beautiful girl in Nigeria Pageant. I granted an interview with a popular newspaper in Nigeria where I was asked who my role model was at the time and I mentioned Oprah Winfrey. Little did I know that Oprah was going to get me into trouble?

My phone rang early January 2006 and it was the voice of a man, possibly in his late 30s or early 40s. His voice was coarse and suspicious. Innocently I said
“Hello” and this marked the beginning of the terror.
“Am I speaking to Omowunmi Akinnifesi?” he asked.
“Yes” I replied without a hint of fear. “How are you?”
He asked again. “I am fine thank you. Whom am I speaking to?” I asked.
“This is…… “I admire you and I
think you are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen.
You are charming and extremely sexy” how can I meet you? I know you like Oprah Winfrey. I can introduce you to her, she is a very good friend” he
said.
The first thing that came to my mind was huh! Who ever said I wanted to meet Oprah? I tried to imagine the voice I was hearing over the phone talk to Oprah,
and laughed……naaa not a good match. Don’t think Oprah will know this one, I thought jokingly in my head.

To be honest I cannot remember the whole conversation but I remember trying to get off the phone as fast as possible by saying “ok thank you”
thank you”. And since that day this man has been calling my phone non-stop. At first I thought it was just a fan, just someone that liked and appreciated
me (which I am always completely grateful for). But I knew something was wrong was when he called me twice a day everyday for one week, asking me to
come for different events. Today he was lunching his foundation; tomorrow it was a fashion line. How many events can a man have in one week? I asked
myself. And then I thought, this is definitely not normal.

Dodging his calls, he started calling forcefully. My phone rang thirty times in a day continuously (And nope, I am not exaggerating). This was it, this was
the beginning of my paranoia.

It became so bad that one-day he decided to show up at the Silverbird head office in Lekki. I had an interview that morning with a Magazine and I have
no idea how he knew I was going to be there. As I entered the office I remember seeing this person in glasses sitting down and staring at me like he had
just seen a ghost. I walked in wondering who that was and just then, I received his call.

Luckily I had saved that very number he was calling me with that day, amongst other numbers he owned that I had
saved. As usual I did not pick, but he sent me a text message that read, “I am at the Silverbird reception waiting for you”. I shrunk on my seat and immediately alerted my chaperon. She immediately went out to my rescue and would you believe this? The man had to be carried out of the office because
he refused to leave till he saw me.
Well luckily that was the first and last time I set my eyes on him.

Since then his calls began to fluctuate
from three times a week, to once in a month. Then just when I think he is gone into thin air, after 3months, he begins to call again everyday for the next six weeks. I will scream, “please never call me again” and even tell my male friends to act as my boyfriend or even my husband, yet he was persistent. Saying things like “lets get married, you
will have my kids. Omowunmi when are we seeing?
We need to be together”. Now if this was a boyfriend, won’t every woman feel loved and adored? (Like he
actually calls), but this was a total stranger calling every month in every year until 2011 when I stopped
hearing from him.

I even changed my phone number a couple of times, but somehow, he still got that number.

In 2011 he called once or twice, the phone calls of which I ignored. Little did I know, what Sunday the 21st of August had in store for me? I decided to attend church with my sister that wonderful morning.

We had arrived a little late and made an entrance to the front row of the Church
(which were the only seats available). Just as the service was over, I made my exit out of the Church. Unfortunately for me, this man had been seating on
the row right next to that exit. Did he know that was my preferred way out of the Church? I am not sure if he did, but I still wonder why he was not sitting on
any of the other two exits of at that church.

He got up right in front of me and said “hello Omowunmi my name is…….its been a while. I have been meaning to give you something. Take this letter”. I froze and almost had a heart attack when he said his name; a name I had heard being introduced to me a thousand times over the phone. I started
walking the fastest way I could and he caught up with me.

My sister, who was walking ahead of me, was already long gone. She did not even bother to check if I was behind her because she knows how fast a walker I am as well. Frightened, I was desperate for her to come to my rescue. I finally found her and he kept following and sneaking up on us until we entered our car and drove away; and believe me, we
did this as fast as we could.

No jokes. Even my sister was in shock. I mean we had seen this in the movies
but I never imagined it becoming my reality.

Mercy johnson's mother isn't bothered by scandal rocking her daughter's wedding, which has caused a stir in the media. The wedding which has been earlier overshadowed by rumours that it has been called-off will be holding on August 27.

Yes I am. Mrs Elizabeth Johnson, mother of Mercy Johnson.

What are your plans towards her marriage amidst these controversies?

I don’t have any plans now, God is our town planner, I put my trust in Him. He is the one that raised her to where she is today, before she met Odi God was aware, everything happening today are not unknown to Him. My belief is that if God assigns Odi of which I know He has done for her, as a husband, the gate of hell can’t prevail over it. God that made their paths cross know their future, present and past, whosoever stands anywhere looking for the downfall of the innocent girl will face the battle of God.

Madam, did Odi inform you he was married as is generally reported in the media?

Odi isn’t married, he told our family, that when he got to Italy, the lady was his girlfriend and she bore him a child, later, Lovely met a guy and followed him to Canada and she bore him that boy, the woman herself confirmed it. We are not aware of other things because Odi has said the truth and when we asked him how long they separated, he said for the past 5 years. Let us say the truth and let the devil be ashamed. I have told my daughter to let the will of God be done in her life. As for rumour mongers saying Mercy has scattered her home, she is the one who scattered her home because if she loves Odi she wouldn’t have followed another man and even giving him a child, the man is late now, so they want to set my innocent daughter up and spoil her day of joy and I know God will never agree with them.

Why do you think this is a planned work to disrupt Mercy’s wedding?

There are people who watch you without you knowing, out of all the children I have, Mercy is unique, I can never deny her anytime any day, she is gifted and God has used her to bring the family up, so if anybody is stepping on my joy, he or she will face the wrath of God cos one stupid person who claims to be a man of God said in the newspapers that if her mother is reasonable enough she will make her cancel the wedding. The man is not a born-again cos if he is and isn’t deaf and blind, he would have asked how a woman who left her husband five years ago now shows up threatening with fire and brimstone, this definitely is a set up but as many as run their mouths against the Johnson’s family will face the wrath of God because we are innocent.

Did you have any inkling at her inception or birth that she would be this famous?

No, we are Christians in our family, we hand our children to God and after that it is sealed up. It is God who made her what she is today, when she was young, she used to play and make a lot of people laugh, she is very free, that made us to know that she had a brighter future ahead, she was the head girl in secondary school, she always come first in sports, dress rehearsals so I see no reason why she shouldn’t excel in her career. No evil hands or thought against Mercy can work; nobody can overcome her I Jesus name. (Father cuts in) I have been reading stories tarnishing our image, imagine somebody wrote that I said I have cancelled the wedding, when did I say so? We should have the fear of God in whatever we do. Like this Lovely of a person, if she is actually the wife of Odi and my daughter is struggling to take her away from her marriage, I will pray to God and tell my daughter not to go into another person’s home but the truth is my daughter knew Odi in 2009, if Odi is so important to him why must he leave him for another man; now that the guy is dead now, she wants to come back saying somebody is snatching her husband from her, I can phone Odi’s father and they will tell you they don’t even know her.

How can they say she has run away from home, I saw her this morning, we were together.

Madam, are you saying the wedding is still going on as planned?

God is a God of plans, He will bring out everything perfectly, we depend and look up to Him, we have put everything into his hands and nobody can change the plan of God

What would the party be like, is it going to be church affair or with some traditional touches?

In our area, we do traditional, court and church weddings. I did the three when I was getting married to her father; it is the same pattern that we will follow.

You don’t attend the same church with mercy?

No we don’t, we attend Pentecostal church, Mercy and her elder sister used to go to The Redeemed Christian of God before she started attending the Christ Embassy

Don jazzy took to twitter in the early hours of today to reveal another interesting fact about him. He gave us a sneak peek into his upcoming autobiography; never-before-told story about his life and entertainment career titled 'Making Of A Don' co-authored with Collins Enebeli, his Dad.

Don Jazzy surprised everyone when he claimed he worked as a bass guitarist in female singer, Muma Gee's band in 2002/2003. He said he never met dbanj as at that time. You will hardly believe its him until you look closely. He's wearing the band's uniform though

In case you don't know, Don Jazzy also worked for solek crew as pianist. In short, let's just wait for the release of his autobiography which he has speculated to be a best seller.

Where did music start for you?

I started music in the church. In the choir at some point… (Pauses) you know what? I don’t want to spill everything yet. I’ll be writing an autobiography, my
dad and I are working on it. There’s no name for it yet but he has called it ‘The Making of a Don’.

When will the book be coming out?

It’s coming out next year.

Let’s talk about ‘Enigma’. You asked rappers to record their song versions and submit to you…

It was crazy. I was expecting to see about a hundred responses but I ended up seeing 2000!

Talking about the ‘Oliver’ dance competition, who are the judges?

For now, apart from myself, there are no other judges.

When is the closing date?
It’s been crazy though. I will give out a 3-day notice to when it will close.

So let’s move away from D’banj for a while. What are the other Mo’Hits members up to?

Well, Wande Coal has been recording in the studio and will be dropping a few songs this year. We are all concentrating on D’banj for now though. When his
(D’banj) album drops, there’ll be time for the others. Dr. SID is performing in different states and has also started to learn music production, he isn’t doing
badly too. D’Prince’s album has been completed since God knows when. We will be releasing it at the right time.

How do you deal with negative comments?

Just like the way Jesus handled them, like Jay-Z handles them, like Kanye, like Beyonce. The thing is that I get more love than hate, so when the negative
ones come in, I try to find out why they do that. I block some (followers on Twitter) when I feel they have nothing to say.

Tell us more about D’banj’s album; will it still be titled ‘Mr. Endowed’?

A couple of tracks have been recorded. You can take the previously released singles as mixtape materials. The timing is what is most important. The album
name ‘ Mr. Endowed’ might change. It has to do with what comes up from now till then. Everybody should please be patient. I know you are all excited.

You were recently nominated at The Headies 2011 in the ‘Producer of The Year’ category alongside Cobhams, Samklef, Jesse Jagz and J Sleek, how do you feel?

Was I nominated? I didn’t know. Thank you so much. I’m honoured. Really, Cobhams and I shouldn’t be nominated. I like Samklef and wish he wins, everybody please vote for Samklef.

Who do you think is the next big thing in the music industry?

Wizkid.

But Wizkid has emerged already and even has an album, who else do you think is the next big thing?

For now, nobody.

So whose music do you listen to nowadays?

I listen to almost everybody, Wizkid, 2face – I can kill for him, Choc Boyz.

What about the Female artistes?

Tiwa savage is good and she has given out so much. Waje is a heavenly singer.

Tell us about working with Kanye West.
I’m very picky with music but Kanye is worse. At times I regret I played ‘Scapegoat’ and ‘Give it to me’ for him because he keeps referring to them when I make beats for him (Laughs). He likes ‘Entertainer’ too.

How about Jay Z, have you done any work for him?

Well, Jay Z recorded on a couple of beats that didn’t make the ‘Watch The Throne’ album but I’m glad ‘Lift off’ did. Over 70 songs were recorded for that album,
‘Lift off’ had been done a long time ago.

Have you done any solo production for Jay Z?

No, not yet.

When will you produce for Beyonce, when will she say ‘It’s Don Jazzy again’?

Beyonce will say it soon. Kanye West has already said it a couple of times.

If you had the chance to work with any other foreign artiste, who would it be?

I would like to work with Rihanna. I like the vibe she gives off, it would be nice to work with her.

Women's right group made of 5000 women-Society for Nigerian Women has written letter to Pastor Chris oyakhilome, leader of Christ Embassy, the church where Mercy Johnson's wedding will be taking place, asking the Church leader to stop the wedding from holding in the Church. The protest was prompted by the evidence (marriage certificate and wedding pictures) revealed by the supposed Wife of Prince Odi, Lovely who claimed Odi (Mercy Johnson's fiance) is still legally married.

These four are the finest female singers to come out of Nigeria. They all looked gorgeous on the cover. Waje's sexy and thick body caused a little distraction there. I think it would have been better if Lami was in the middle with Chidynma.

I was earlier informed that Yoruba Actor, Odunlade Adekola has gotten the 'rare' chance of becoming Glo ambassador. And Adekola himself finally confirmed that the deal has been successful. If you have ever noticed, Funke Akindele was the only yoruba movie star among many Nollywood English movie stars to become glo ambassador before Odunlade and Afolayan inked the deal with Glo. The two actors sealed the deal with Glo yesterday. Adekola disclosed that the deal will last for two years.

Adekola is one of the fast rising yoruba actor, acted in many yoruba home videos within the short time he has spent in the industry so far. Kunle Afolayan is famous for producing blockbuster movies, Irapada and Figurine.

something, our P.A would be the one to get it. We miss our freedom,  And we miss going out to eateries and local joints like the Mama-put. We send someone to do so. If it were in those days, we’d go there and point at what we want to eat. The problem is, when we send someone to do the buying, they wouldn’t know what we’d prefer.'


"we try as much as possible to go to private beaches in Lagos. Still, we’ll end up taking pictures there from when we arrived till we leave. At the early stages we used to think celebrity lifestyle isn’t it, but now, we are used to it, Sometimes they (ladies)  bare their breasts for us
to sign autographs, Some would even threaten you, if you don’t kiss them. And we wouldn’t have a choice than to kiss them-but not the deep kiss, Yeah, at times we touch their boobs if they want it.


What we asked from God was that he blesses us so that we can live a fulfilled life and be a blessing to others. But we didn’t know the implication of it all. For instance, whenever we go to Silverbird to watch a movie, we’ll have to sit in the car. Someone would go get the ticket and we’d end up staying in the car till like five minutes to the start of the movie. Then we’ll just walk straight to the room
